New techniques simply haven't improved the results much. Jorgensen says that comparisons
between estimation accuracy between now and the 1980s show about the same figures.3
There are two main categories of software development effort estimation: model–based estimation
and expert judgment, with model–based estimation often broken up into subcategories. The first part
of this paper will discuss the most traditional techniques for model–based estimation using statistical
regression analysis. Then, the value of expert analysis will be discussed. Next, newer methods of
modeling and estimating development effort will be examined, followed by a look at effort
estimation in the agile field.
Early Models: Regression and Function Point Analysis
Model–based effort estimation for software development began with research conducted in the mid–
sixties identifying characteristics of software projects. At first, partial models based on the
researched attributes were used. Software development was still young and the push for efficiency in
software creation had not caught up to the focus on hardware. As software complexity continued to
rise in the seventies, more advanced and complicated models were produced.4

square kilometers per year. Particularly in Indonesia, they said that deforestation rate increases from
10,000 square kilometers in 2000–2003 to 20,000 square kilometers in 2011–2012. As stated by

My Volunteer Efforts At The Club
Journal One Throughout the session on October 4th, 2015 from 2pm to 5pm I participated alongside
members in a variety of passive and active activities. The theme of today's session was "wheel of
fortune", working on participants use of vowels and consonants. Throughout the session it was my
responsibility to help make up easy and simple puzzles for individuals to solve, while also aiding
them on their teams to enforce rules and promote participation. It was interesting to see the range of
abilities everyone had, and how each individual's disabilities contributed to a great atmosphere of
learning, sharing and growing. In addition overcoming and identifying contextual, personal, and task
barriers was a first–hand experience I was able to understand throughout this session. This put into
perspective what it takes for an individual with a disability to overcome a challenge in order to
participate, proving the necessary services that The Club offers to its members, with accessible
programming. From my volunteer efforts I also believe that my personal contributions were
beneficial to the members at The Club. I was able to help individuals with their personal barriers and
address them in appropriate ways with the programming. An example being when I helped one of
the club members by challenging their intrinsic motivation and lack of connectedness, by
stimulating them with the activity, and providing encouragement when they participated. One of the

the dawn of time. It was not until the late eighteenth century that women's rights activists, such as

Significant Efforts in Turkmenistan
Significant efforts to develop a journalistic identity and media freedom have stumbled badly in
Central Asia, primarily Turkmenistan. The state controlled media system that is currently in place
has prevented any citizen voice in Turkmen media. Since 1992, journalism and free media in
Turkmenistan have been on a downward spiral. Unfortunately, prospects for developing a
believable, fact–based journalism look grim for this region. Thus, the citizens of Turkmenistan are
forced to be unaware of the world around them and to accept that all information is altered by the
state.
Journalism and media in the Central Asian region such as Turkmenistan are in worse shape than the
rest of the Western world. To research this idea, secondary research sources are used to develop a
more concrete idea about the state of media in Turkmenistan. One of the most confounding elements
of the research found is that journalism in Turkmenistan is a hopeless occupation. Many of the
citizens are forced to fear the occupation, and thus, be forced to pursue another avenue.
Consequently, those who endeavor to aid the state of media and journalism in Turkmenistan should
expect minimal result. Many attempts to relinquish media freedom have led to empty promises and
low expectations.
