LACEY SHOCKEY'S JOURNEY TO BECOMING A CHILD COUNSELOR
1. LACEY SHOCKEY
Majoring in Child Psychology
I am a caring, loving, hardworking woman, that is going to succeed in life or die trying.
2. 3 FAVORITE ASSESSMENTS
1. Service Learning Project
It was a great experience for me. It taught me to open up to all types of people.
Giving back to the community is a great feeling no matter what you are doing to give
back I strongly suggest to volunteer.
2. Self-Assessment
It showed me my weakness. It showed me my strengths. It showed me what I need to
improve on to be better.
3. Letter to the Next Class
Made me feel that I could give the future class wisdom that I would have loved to
have. Helped me think of the important stuff I learned in this course. What I say to the
future class might make a difference in someone else to help them learn better.
3. 3 FAVORITE JOURNALS
1. Chapter 3 Journal
Helped me think of the future I will have once I complete what I am going for. Showed me that
visualization is a good technique to help you to write. Helped give me a visualization that I need to
keep in my head so I can stay focus on what I need to achieve to get what I want.
2. Chapter 5 Journal
Helped show me that I have more than myself to rely on for support. Opened my mind about
letting others in more to help take weight off my shoulders. It taught me that letting others in will
actually help me not to multi-task so much or as often.
3. Chapter 8 Journal
It was easy for me to wright all that I went thru just to try and write the journal assessment was my
answer. It showed me that not every time no matter how much time you have; you need to think
ahead and do things in advance to make sure it is done on time. It showed me not to rely on canvas
to always be working when you think it needs too.
4. WHICH WEEK I LIKED THE MOST
• My favorite week was week 6; helped me finally realize what major I want to pursue.
I want to be a Child Counselor. To help children in away most can’t. I want to be
there to listen and help them work thru there darkest times in need.
5. 3 LESSONS I WILL CARRY WITH ME
• I will keep studying the right way by taking notes with paper and a
recorder.
• I will not study by just memorizing the facts but actually learning
