A Virtual Team Between Uber Drivers
Context Uber is a company that I personally admire. It is such a great smart idea to have people
around the world driving other people, and the company just receives the money by controlling all
virtually. I like to use Uber when I travel, it is a reliable service, and it saves me money and time.
After developing this report, I expect to learn more about the company itself, how efficient the
company manage its operations. How the drivers are hired, it is all virtually? How the drivers
communicate with other Uber drivers? I believe it has to be a virtual team between Uber drivers.
Also, I would like to learn what the company problems are when managing it operations efficiencies
using multi–cultural virtual teams. This report will help me to understand the importance of muti–
cultural virtual team improving operational efficiency in a company, and in the future to use my
skills to work effectively with multi–cultural virtual teams.
Introduction Uber operates through a mobile app, where people need to create an account, and a
debit or credit card is required to make the payment. The app allows the consumers to request a trip;
then, the software automatically sends a message to the nearest driver around with the location of
the consumer. The drivers use their own personal cars. The application software calculates the fare
trip, and then transfer the money to the Uber driver. Uber is located around 66 countries in the
world. The company operates, leads, organize, and manage

Description Of A Virtual Keyboard
This product is a virtual keyboard, produced by Microsoft. This product works by projecting light
on to a surface, scanning your finger movements like the barcode scanners at the grocery store
checkout. The device is installed in new Microsoft products at the top of the products. The device
that projects the keyboard it removable by pressing on the top of the device. After pressing the
device, it pops up and you are able to remove the small, lightweight projector form the Microsoft
product you are using. The keyboard device is then able to be placed on a safe surface. The device
stands up with its flat bottom, with the projector located at the top of the device. This device
connects through Bluetooth, allowing you to place the keyboard device wherever it is comfortable
for you. The device is charged by using the charge from the product is came with. The keyboard
device is available for purchase separately, allowing the customer to use the device with older
Microsoft products or brands other than Microsoft. The device is uniform in size and could also
serve as a replacement if you lose the keyboard device that came with your new Microsoft product.
The keyboard, if purchased separately will come with a charging cord, assuming the customer is
purchasing it because they do not own a new Microsoft product. This product would be useful for
laptops, tablets, computer monitors or phones. These devices do not come with keyboards and must
be purchased separately anyway. In purchasing

Summary
Using a symbolic interactionist methodology, the diverse meanings assigned by employees to
wireless handheld technology are investigated. Interviews were conducted with 11 individuals
representing three organizations in the public and private sector enhancing our understanding of
technology use within an organizational context. Wireless technology practices are examined as they

Of these, 91 per cent have used a mobile phone and 27.5 per cent a pager. These devices have
evolved from basic paging, telephone, and scheduling technologies to active messaging: for
instance, Internet–enabled handheld computers (e.g. Palm Pilot and RIM's BlackBerry) currently
allow individuals to send and receive wireless communications. However, there has been little
investigation into the ways in which employees are adapting to these wireless technologies. Thus,
this study will be provisional and exploratory in nature and will address the need for this type of
research given the limited nature of past research on the meanings and uses of wireless technology.
This research responds to Orlikowski and Iacono's (2001) suggestion for increased research into the
'ensemble' view of technology (which considers technology as embedded within the larger social
context) because there has been little work to date in this area. Orlikowski and Iacono (2001, p. 121)
defined IT artefacts as 'those bundles of material and cultural properties packaged in some socially
recognizable form such as hardware and/or software.' Upon reviewing past studies of technology
performed over the past ten years, they concluded that these artefacts must be viewed within their
cultural and historical context, and as dynamic and continually evolving products. Further, although

The Virtual World: What Is A Virtual World?
What Is Virtual World ?
A virtual world is a computer–based online community environment that is designed and shared by
individuals so that they can interact in a custom–built, simulated world. Users interact with each
other in this simulated world using text–based, two–dimensional or three–dimensional graphical
models called avatars. Avatars are graphically rendered using computer graphics imaging (CGI) or
any other rendering technology. Individuals control their avatars using input devices like the
keyboard, mouse and other specially designed command and simulation gadgets. Today's virtual
worlds are purpose–built for entertainment, social, educational, training and various other purposes.
All virtual worlds possess the qualities of persistence and interactivity. This enables the users to
explore the inherent benefits of socialization and allows them to study human nature and users'
abilities. A virtual world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this category of virtual worlds, users play games through their avatars. These virtual worlds are
strongly influenced by fantasy, science fiction, and anime genres of literature and film.
Entertainment–based virtual worlds represents the majority of virtual worlds in existence today.
Social Interaction–Based: Focuses on user interaction, education and training through simulated
worlds. These worlds offer a more open–ended experience such as exploring landscapes, playing
adventurous sports, socializing with communities, taking part in political debates or experiments,
attending educational sessions, training in a simulated environment and countless other virtual
possibilities. Although younger than gaming worlds, these social virtual worlds are quickly gaining
popularity, particularly in educational, political, commercial and military organizations.

flattered hearing either piece.

Benefits Of Hiring Virtual Employees
The Internet has made working from home a reality for employees and has completely changed the
way businesses operate in the modern world. No longer do business owners have to pay for office
space, they can simply meet with their employees virtually and still get business done.
Hiring virtual employees has proven to be very advantageous for many businesses, helping to cut
down on costs and streamline workflow. By widening the hiring pool from local to global allows
employers to select from a range of of talent.
However, with all of the advantages of allowing employees to work virtually, there is no getting
around the fact that managing them can prove to be challenging. This is not to say that you can't
manage your virtual employees successfully, you just need to have to have the knowledge and tools
to do so.
The following tips will help you be able to transition from a traditional management style to
working with virtual employees quickly and effectively.
Create a sense of community
When all of your employees are working from home and possibly live in different states/countries
and time zones, it is easy for everyone to forget that they are part of a team.
Because your virtual team members don't work in the same location, they may not communicate and
collaborate as much as they need to.
In a virtual environment you can still create a sense of community for your employees by creating
opportunities for team members to "chat" both formally and informally.

The Music Instrument the Organ Essay
The organ is an instrument that dates back to the third century B.C. The man credited for this
invention is Ctesibius of Alexandria who invented an instrument called the hydraulis, which used
wind maintained through water pressure to some pipes. Organs are most likely found in churches
and are used during the services. Its divine pitch imitates that of a human voice and creates a
beautiful sound that many find pleasing. There are three types of organs, non–piped, electronic, and
mechanical organs. Non–piped organs are much like accordions and harmonicas. Electronic organs
make electronically produced sounds through speakers. Then the mechanical organs are ... Show

Organs also range in size from single small keyboards to huge organs with five keyboards. Some of
the bigger instruments can have over 10,000 pipes. The famous Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart once
called the organ the "king of instruments". Organs were traditionally used for Christian and Catholic
Church services, that is why they are commonly referred to as "church organs". Organs are ideally
made to accompany human voices. It could be a soloist, choir, whatever, that is one of its key
purposes. This first began in the seventh century with Pope Vitalian. At first people were not fond of
having music and singing during church services but people quickly became accustomed to having
an organ around because of the beautiful sound that complimented the songs of worship. The organ
became a popular and much wanted necessity in years to come.
Some organs, preferably larger ones, are also used for concerts called organ recitals. Almost any
organ large enough outside of church is considered a concert organ. Church organs are very large to
begin with, so concert organs must be very, very large. In the twentieth century, organs were made to
replace symphony orchestras by playing transcripts of orchestral pieces. This was a major
accomplishment because symphony orchestras took up a lot of space and time. The organ was
considerably smaller and only required the musical talent of one person instead of an entire

report on "Cloud computing, virtualization and virtual machine". The report will intend to provide
readers the basic knowledge of how the cloud service work, what virtualization is and how various
institution is using the technology. I have done the basic research for the topic and have come to the
conclusion that I will be able to write an acceptable report on the topic. My experience at work has

Cloud and Virtualization
Cloud computing and virtualization allows versatility regarding accessibility of service from remote
location.
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is the idea where application runs on a remote server that is provided as a
commercial service by a company rather than an institution or individual's local machine. Cloud
computing has made possible to provided Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and
Infrastructure as a Service (Beaty, 2013,p. 88–93)
Virtualization
Virtualization allows one or more physical servers to be connected and configured in a way that it
presents itself as a single physical machine with large resource. The user can then divide the
resource based on the need of the application and service. The most recent use of this service today
in enterprise and institution is creating virtual machine for virtual desktops and virtual servers.

The New Virtual Office Environment
Introduction Often time people find themselves working at odd hours of the day or night in order to
connect with their teams around the globe. Meetings and conference calls are a necessity to conduct
business and expand operations; however, in order to meet this need more and more employees are
working virtually. Conference calls are conducted from home, airports, and automobiles. On–line
meetings can be held using applications such as Microsoft Lync that have audio and video
capabilities. Screen sharing will enable everyone to view and discuss documents and presentations
from anywhere and in real time. This not only applies to the CEO of a corporation or a partner in a
firm. From the employee working at any level in the corporate structure to the entrepreneur to the
small business owner use today's technology to conduct business at the best time and place for
themselves and their teams. This is the new virtual office environment.
In the beginning.... The buzz word in 1999 was Y2K. Everyone was concerned that computers
would cease to work and the world would come crashing down around us. It didn't. Instead
technology exploded allowing a new way of working to be ushered in. As far back as 1997
technological advances such as cell phones, emails, and laptops with modems began our journey
toward today's virtual work environment. Even then two out of three Fortune 500 companies

Bach Fugue Analysis
For that reason, Bach used a fugue in solo organ pieces and in instrumental works and choral
cantatas. This Fugue is the most famous of fugues by any composer.
The difficult part to explain is how Bach created the Toccata's forceful organ effect. When Bach was
in Arnstadt when he was younger, the organ ordinarily lacked a 16–foot register on the keyboard;
consequently, it sounds an octave lower than the normal 8–foot register. Accordingly, in order to
create the effect, Bach used octave doubling; consequently, he continued the resounding effect of the
opening bars; conversely, there is no octave doubling in any of Bach's later organ works; moreover,
the fugue sounds furious with its uninterrupted series of fast notes. Also, Bach felt ... Show more

This section segues into the third and final section of the Toccata, which consists almost entirely of a
passage doubled at the sixth and comprising reiterations of the same three–note figure, similar to
doubled passages in the first section; after a brief pedal flourish, the piece ends with a D minor
chord. In Bach's brilliance, he made the subject of the four–voice fugue up entirely of sixteenth
notes with an implied pedal point set against a brief melodic subject that first falls and then rises.
Nevertheless, Baroque music frequently encountered Violinistic figures and that of Bach, both as
fugue subjects and as material in non–imitative pieces. The answer is in the subdominant key, rather
than the dominant. Although it's a four–part fugue, there are only three voices, and some of the
interludes are in two or even one voice (notated as two); although Bach employed only one simple
triadic harmony throughout the fugue, there is an unexpected C minor subject entry and,
furthermore, a solo pedal statement of the subject (a unique feature for a Baroque fugue). After the
final subject entry, the composition resolves to a sustained B flat major chord; a multi–sectional
coda follows, which Bach marked as Recitativo. Although it's only 17 bars long, it progresses
through five tempo changes; in addition, Bach had the last bars played Molto

Uses Of In Operating Systems
Uses of Virtualisation in Operating Systems
Virtualisation in operating systems is a wide ranging subject relating to many topics within
operating systems. Waldspurger and Rosenblum define virtualisation in their article I/O
virtualization as "decoupling the logical from the physical, introducing a level of indirection
between the abstract and the concrete." [1] In this essay I will briefly outline some of the many types
of Virtualisation as well as talk about benefits and limitations virtualisation in general.
Due to the term 'virtualisation' referring to so many different areas within operating system, talking
about the History of this topic is very hard. In Modern Operating Systems, Andrew Tanenbaum
states "visualization, which is more than 40 years old" [6]. This book was published in 2009,
implying that virtualisation started roughly in the 1969. However, spooling which is an example of
I/O virtualisation existed in IBMs SPOOL system. IBM copyrighted the SPOOL system in 1960
suggesting Virtualisation started on or before the 1960s [7]. From the context of Tanenbaum's book,
it is clear that he is speaking of virtual machine technology which for the confines of this essay will
be considered a subset of virtualisation. Throughout the history of computers more virtualisation
techniques have been invented from spooling to virtualised I/O to virtual machines and other things
like RAID. When talking about virtualisation in operating systems, virtual memory is perhaps the

Virtual Reality ( Vr )
ABSTRACT
Seeing is believing, these words are the best combination to understand the meaning of Virtual
Reality (VR). VR is one of the best asset and aspect of our future. No other technology has seen
such a revolution like VR has. It is practically in use in almost every field such as entertainment,
gaming, defense, robotics, medical, healthcare, military, education, fashion, heritage, business,
engineering and many more fields. VR sometimes called Virtual Environment has drawn much
attention in the last two decade. Extensive media coverage causes the much more rapid increase in
the interest of the masses. Very few people, however, really know what VR is and what are its open
problems are. In this report a historical overview of virtual reality is presented, basic terminology as
an introduction are listed, followed by applications of this technology in science, work, and
entertainment areas. Its present developments are thoroughly discussed in this report. Finally, the
future of VR is considered in two aspects: technological and social. New research directions,
technological frontiers and potential applications are pointed out. The possible positive and negative
influence of VR on life of average people is speculated.
The promise of VR is always been enormous. Put on the devices and go nowhere, and be transported
anywhere. It's the same escapism peddled by the drugs, alcohol, sex and art– throw off the shackles

The Iphone's Success And Widespread Application Of...
The iPhone's success has resulted in the widespread application of touchscreens in many devices.
Touchscreens now become a fundamental tool which facilitates daily tasks, such as e–mail,
navigation and web browsing. Compared to traditional input devices such as keyboards and mice,
touchscreens provide a more natural and direct way to interact with the digital world. However, one
drawback of touch interactions in most current devices is that they are still
'two–dimensional' – the interface feels like flat glass because it produces no tactile feedback, and
our interaction is still highly dependent on a pattern of visual feedback. To illustrate, we first look at

Although this and other research shows the benefit of utilizing haptic feedback

help users with touch based interactions.
Recently, researchers have developed surface haptic displays which introduces electroadhesion to

The Importance Of Advancements In Technology
Advancements in technology will affect many aspects of our lives in today's society. Whether the
effects are positive or negative, it can be sometimes difficult to imagine a world without some sort
of modern day technology. The idea of technology as a part of our daily life, can affect how people
use technology in the future. The reliance on technology, that a lot of people today have when using
their mobile cellular phones and gaming technology such as computers and gaming consoles, can
cause negative effects on the person themselves and the people around them, especially when
interacting outside their homes.
Personally, I can do without certain types of technology, but as a gamer, there are certain types of
technology I can't do without. While, I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, I do play a wide
variety of video games from first–person shooters, massively multiplayer online role–playing games
(MMORPG) and Japanese role–playing games (JRPG), to platform games and turn–based tactics
(TBT), and so on. My interest in video games overall is partially because of my interest in
technology and future technologies, which is why out of all the readings provided this semester, I
decided to focus on the following readings: Murakami and Fujinuma's "Ubiquitous Networking:
Towards a New Paradigm", Vries Tantalisingly Close: An Archaeology of Communication Desires
in Discourses of Mobile Wireless Media, Serino et al.'s "Pokémon Go and augmented virtual reality
games: a cautionary commentary for parents and pediatricians", and Jack Loomis's "Presence in
Virtual Reality and Everyday Life: Immersion within a World of Representation".
Serino et al. (2016) stated that we are "living in a technologically advancing world" (p. 673), these
advancements, for better or for worse, have changed the way people perceive and use technology.
So, while a variety of technological advancements can be found in a multiplicity of fields in our
society today, I will focus in on the growing video gaming society, its technology and evolution,
from past to future, as explored and discussed in the aforementioned readings.

that helped to fine–tune the keyboard design are mentioned.
A. How Does It Work
The keyboard works like text entry keyboards, however, instead of inputting letters it inputs blocks.
Each key inputs a block or changes a field. Version 3 in figure 1 shows the current layout of the
keyboard. Once a block is inserted, the keyboard selects and highlights the first unoccupied input
connector. The arrow keys allow navigating the blocks through their connectors by highlighting
them. The keyboard's keys will be enabled or disabled according to the highlighted ... Show more

Just like many keyboard designs that utilize the letter or word frequencies to layout their keys, we
want to utilize the blocks' frequencies. To accomplish this, we looked for Blockly programs sources.
Code Studio, a website offering online courses created by Code.org, is used by millions of students
[14]. It relies heavily on Blockly to teach programming concepts. Therefore, we choose it as a
reference for Blockly programs. We counted the frequency of each block that was asked to be input
in all the offered activities. However, if the activity asks the users to input less than 10 blocks we did
not include that activity in the statistics. We chose not to include such activities because they have
few blocks that do not represent a common block–base program. Commonly, an activity with few
blocks just teaches how to input blocks rather than teaching programming concepts or problems
solving. This left us with 47 Blockly programs from courses 2,3, and 4. We found that the average
input task consists of 19 blocks. Table I shows the frequency of block types. The Code Studio
activities did not ask the students to input all the block types in Blockly as can be noticed from the

Top 8 powerful, compact and well–organized tasks to increase your productivity (output).
Productivity is the grouping of smart preparation and dedicated hard work. Continuing productive to
your work is really hard. Every time end of the working day, chances are that you are not fulfilled
with what you have gifted. Productivity could be constantly value–added, but here are 8 pointers
that have truly worked for you. Fortunately, a computer, smartphone and a little know how all you
need are.
1. Speed Reading Saves Your Time.
In your daily working day wants you to read huge passages of text quickly, think about figuring out
how to speed read. On a normal, a person reads around 200 to 250words per minute (WPM) and this
is really slow compared to speed readers because of sub–vocalization – you unconsciously read
every word to yourself as you read. Eliminating sub–vocalization is one of the essential fundamental
of speed reading. You can use Speed Reader (by P Garrison) app for your android phone and tablet,
for google chrome you'll use Spreed extension and for iOS try Speed Reading HD.
These apps are using Rapid Serial Visual Presentation technique. In this technique you'll see one
word at a time very quickly in the center of your screen. You'll observe that you're rapidly capable to
read 300wpm and with a little more practice you'll reach 500–600wpm. You'll have the capacity for
reading three times quicker with a couple of days practice.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Virtual World
What Is Virtual World ?
A virtual world is a computer–based online community environment that is designed and shared by
individuals so that they can interact in a custom–built, simulated world. Users interact with each
other in this simulated world using text–based, two–dimensional or three–dimensional graphical
models called avatars. Avatars are graphically rendered using computer graphics imaging (CGI) or
any other rendering technology. Individuals control their avatars using input devices like the
keyboard, mouse and other specially designed command and simulation gadgets. Today's virtual
worlds are purpose–built for entertainment, social, educational, training and various other purposes.

Avatars In Second Life
The Second Life gaming environment is casual and allows for people to interact with each other
without having to physically be near each other. This type of environment allows for the possibility
of meeting others and interacting with others and would be a possible choice for interacting with
other co–workers in an office party session online. Although there are benefits to interacting with
co–workers on Second Life, there are some caveats that exist as well. Specifically, the avatars in
Second Life both support and fail the necessary feelings of awareness and presence of others,
expressing affects or emotions, and communication with others. Virtual reality and actual reality can
not ever be completely equivalent to each other because there are limitations of expressing emotion,
awareness of the environment and others, and conversing with others. The Second Life avatars both
supports and fails the expression of conveying verbal and nonverbal communication between
people. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The avatars Emotional actions and affects are supposed by the characters because they can fly and
the user can make their avatar perform actions like dancing to express emotions. However, in
Second Life, the avatars do not express emotion as much as humans in real life can express and each
action must be manually chosen rather than naturally expressing their emotionally–led actions. Also,
in real life, one can hear others talking and notice the facial expressions of others and the unique
actions of people. The user can receive a wide array of different emotional impressions from the
different kinds of avatar appearances that other uses select for their avatar. Some avatars may give
off a dreary aura, while others may appear much more pleasant and happy and because of the non–
human possibilities, this does make the avatars elicit more visceral responses compared to the

HISTORY AND ORIGINATORS OF KEYBOARD Essay
HISTORY AND ORIGINATORS OF KEYBOARD
BAROQUE PERIOD
Harpsichord (Italian cembalo; French clavecin), stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings
are plucked to produce sound. It was developed in Europe in the 14th or 15th century and was
widely used from the 16th to the early 19th century, when it was superseded by the piano. In the
20th century the harpsichord was revived for performance of music of the 16th, 17th, and 18th
centuries, as well as for new compositions. The incisive sound quality of the plucked metal strings
adds clarity to melodic lines. The harpsichord is particularly effective in performing contrapuntal
music–that is, music that consists of two or more melodies played at the same time, such as that of

A typical two–manual harpsichord of the 18th century had strings at normal and octave–high pitch
playable on the lower manual, strings at normal pitch controlled by the upper manual, and a
coupling mechanism. Early History The earliest school of harpsichord building developed in Italy in
the 16th and 17th centuries. Italian harpsichords differed from others in that they normally were
made of extremely thin wood and then placed in a stronger outer case of the same shape. A second
important school of building developed in the 16th and 17th centuries in Flanders, centered around
the influential Ruckers family of builders. These schools gave way in the 18th century to distinctive
styles of building that developed in France (the Blachet family), Germany (the Hass family), and
England (Jacob Kirkman). Harpsichords of the different national schools varied in details of their
proportions and construction, resulting in slight, although characteristic differences in tone color.
Modern Developments In the 20th century, two broad approaches to harpsichord building emerged.
The first utilized recent principles of construction, such as are found in present–day pianos.
Stimulated by the Polish harpsichordist Wanda Landowska, this style was exemplified by the French
piano firms of Pleyel and Érard. Their harpsichords relied on heavy strings under high tension in a
heavily braced case. Many

From Toys to Practicality: Brain Computer Interface Technology
The idea of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology is the subject of high interest for many
people and families of the person experiencing considerable physical impairments, such as those
with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This knowledge is recognized by several monitors, such
as BCI, Brain–Machine Interface (BMI), neuro–brain transmission and Direct Brain Interface (DBI).
Conventional computer input and assistive technology devices depend on the small though steadfast
muscle movements, which patients lose during the progress of the disease. BCIs identify tiny

Trends in virtualization are always changing. As the technology matures and advances are made,
there are more options open to administrators and more cost saving virtualization projects that can
be implemented. The websites and articles listed in the reference section, give you some idea of the
capability using the VMware product, which is simply one of several virtualization options.

The desktop virtualization provides its users to maintain their desktops on a remote central server
and the users connects this remote central server using a LAN or WAN through the internet. Desktop
virtualization is broadly categorized into two categories depending upon the operating system
instance is executed locally or remotely. The two categories of desktop virtualization are as follows:
Host Based Desktop Virtualization
Client Based Desktop Virtualization
HOST–BASED DESKTOP VIRTUALIZATION: In the host based virtual machines each and every
user connects to a virtual machine that is hosted in a particular data center. The user may or may not
connect to the same virtual machine every time and even sometimes the user may be allotted a
random virtual machine from a virtual machine pool Sometimes the users connect to a shared
desktop i.e. nothing but the users connect to the individual applications that run on a server. This
kind of connection of the users to a shared desktop is termed as shared hosted desktop virtualization.
In the host based virtual machines the operating systems runs directly on the physical hardware
located in the data center.
CLIENT BASED DESKTOP VIRTUALIZATION: In the client based desktop virtualization, the
processing is done on a local hardware. The client based desktop virtualization includes

AVATARA–Sanskrit.; ava–'down', tarati–'he goes, passes beyond' literally, 'a descent', a conception
described in the Bhagavad gita, 4th Teaching, 1–8 where Krishna confides: "when goodness grows
weak, when evil increases, I make myself a body." (OED)
Originally referring to the incarnation of Hindu deities, avatars in the computing realms have come
to mean any of the various "strap–on" visual agents that represent the user in increasing numbers of

The irony in the physical world is that we choose to wear these commodities and we willingly pay
multi–national corporations for the privilege of advertising their products. Through this transaction
we express personal fantasies, achieve a fleeting sense of democracy and individual expression, and
fulfill various levels of desire.
2. Defining Avatars
The use of the term avatar to represent the self or user in the context of shared on–line Internet
environments first occurs in the early 1980's with the development of LucasFilms's Habitat project
(Farmer). The term came to popular consciousness with the success of the novel SnowCrash
(Stephenson). Discussions of the nature of the avatar are often mixed with current cyborg theory.
Although the avatar and the cyborg share numerous social constructions and identity politics, in the
interest of developing an understanding of the avatar, it is necessary to distinguish it from its cousin,
the cyborg.
2.1. The Human Enhanced
The term cyborg was coined in 1960 with the appearance of "Cyborgs in Space" by Manfred E.
Clynes and Nathan S. Kline. Clynes and Kline argued that altering man's bodily functions to meet
the requirements of extraterrestrial environments was more logical than providing a controlled
environment for him in space. Their "self–regulating artifact–organism" (Clynes and Kline 31–33)

Bloom 's Taxonomy : Taxonomy Essay
Bloom's Taxonomy
Bloom's Taxonomy provides teachers a basis to develop classroom lessons with more depth and
higher levels of critical thinking. This hierarchy shows how students can learn material better and
retain more later. There are six levels (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis,
and evaluation) which cover the basics of the information (knowledge) all the way to critical
analysis proving or disproving theoretical situations (evaluation).
This technique appears ideal for my classes – Computer Science (Java programming) – because of
the intense focus on critical thinking and problem solving aspects of knowledge acquisition and use.
I believe that the 1st three levels – knowledge, comprehension, and application – are ideally suited
to the "on–level" CS classes, and I can add analysis and synthesis to the "Pre–AP" CS classes.
These two classes assume that the students have little to no prior experience with computer
programming and that the courses are geared to that end by providing much of the basics of Java. It
is because of this that so much of the 1st half of the year–long course is spent on basic concepts. We
naturally fall into these first three levels, knowledge, comprehension, and application, during this
part of the course. Through the first 8 weeks, we have discussed basic information such as variables,
arithmetic operators, displaying data on the terminal, keyboard input, and decision control. Through

Swot Analysis Of Morgan Chase & Co
JP Morgan Chase & Co. is currently United States' biggest bank, and the 6th biggest bank
internationally with over 2.4 trillion dollars in assets. This financial juggernaut was formed in 2000,
when Chase Manhattan Corporation and JP Morgan & Co merged. Currently, Chase is well known
for their credit card line in America, and is responsible for consumer banking, while JP Morgan is
well known internationally, and responsible for investment banking. Although JPMC is one of the
world's biggest banks, senior management at JPMC has continuously referred to the company as a
technology company. Technology plays an astronomically more important role in banking because
of convenience and security. JPMC currently has over 40,000 technologists, of which over 18,000
are software developers (Crowe). In comparison, Google, arguably the most renowned tech
company in the world, has around 60,000 employees. With such an enormous staff of technologists
and coders, JPMC, like any big tech corporation, must be concerned with employee production
efficiency. Over my past summer as an intern, I've noticed that there is one key area that JPMC
could improve on – keyboards. Every technologist at JPMC has their own area for their computer
setup, and unsurprisingly, most technologists spend a majority of their time in front of their
computer doing one task – typing. The keyboards provided by JPMC were basic plastic membrane
keyboards that did not support any added functionality. Even as an intern, I

Research Proposal on Database Usability Issues
There are different types of database usability issues; you could talk about the problems that occur
when a user views a database system .i.e. the user will see different from what the database contains.
But with "the advance in design of highly interactive computer systems continues at an ever–
increasing pace, with new developments in hardware and software being announced more frequently
than ever before." (Lawson, J. Yull, S. Anderson, H. Knott, G. & Waites, N. 2005, pg 258)
So with the increasing interactive computer systems, within this research proposal I am going to talk
about the problems that a user may come across in the form of virtual reality VR, graphical user
interface GUI and human computer interaction / interface HCI.

I feel as if people recognise images before text. For example if we look at YouTube, people
automatically recognise videos before even reading its title or description. On a website your eye is
drawn to an image. So by having a program that incorporates high quality images, and maybe even
videos, you will be catching the audience's attention.
HCI or Human Computer Interaction is a process that evaluates the interaction between the user and
a program. For example does the user take advantage of features a program may have, do they use
headphones when using a program. Everything that is used to create a VR (virtual reality) or create
GUI (graphical user interface) is put into play at HCI.
According to (Dix, A. Finlay, J. Abowd, G. & Beale, R. 2004) Human computer interaction "is the
study of how people interact with computers and to what extent computers are or are not developed
for successful interaction with human beings."
So HCI takes into account both sides of the computers users. It looks at things like the computer
graphics, operating system, and programming language and on the human side according to (Cairns,
P. & Cox, A. 2008) "communication theory, graphic and industrial design disciplines, linguistics,
social science, cognitive psychology, and human performance are relevant."
So for a program to incorporate good HCI, it could contain features such as movable interfaces with
pull–down menus, dialog books, check boxes, scroll bars etc. By

1. Augmented reality (AR)
An augmented reality (AR) is defined as a system that combines and runs virtual and real objects
interactively in a real time and real environment. The AR system complements the real environment
with computer–generated (virtual) objects that look as if they exist in the real world. In augmented
reality, virtual objects are added to the surrounding real environment. Augmented reality scenes
display two common properties: world environments and generated images. They merge real world
environments with computer generated images (Azuma et al., 2001). The goal of augmented reality
system is to improve human performance and interaction with the real world through computer
generated (virtual) objects (Macchiarella and Vincenzi, 2004).
2. Virtual reality (VR)
VR environments are generated by integrating a group of computer software and hardware
components. This combination is used to generate a virtual environment which provides users the
impression of being somewhere other than where they actually are. VR is an advanced technology
of human–computer interface that permits the user to interact with a virtual environment generated
by a computer using interactive software and hardware. VR is defined as " a real–time graphical
simulation with which the user interacts via some form of analog control, within a spatial frame of
reference and with user control of the viewpoint's motion and view direction" (Moshell and Hughes,
2002).

These devices have evolved from basic paging, telephone, and scheduling technologies to active messaging: for instance, Internet–enabled handheld computers (e.g. Palm Pilot and RIM's BlackBerry) currently allow individuals to send and receive wireless communications. However, there has been little investigation into the ways in which employees are adapting to these wireless technologies. Thus, this study will be provisional and exploratory in nature and will address the need for this type of research given the limited nature of past research on the meanings and uses of wireless technology. This research responds to Orlikowski and Iacono's (2001) suggestion for increased research into the 'ensemble' view of technology (which considers technology as embedded within the larger social context) because there has been little work to date in this area. Orlikowski and Iacono (2001, p. 121) defined IT artefacts as 'those bundles of material and cultural properties packaged in some socially recognizable form such as hardware and/or software.' Upon reviewing past studies of technology performed over the past ten years, they concluded that these artefacts must be viewed within their cultural and historical context, and as dynamic and continually evolving products. The famous Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart once called the organ the "king of instruments". Organs were traditionally used for Christian and Catholic Church services, that is why they are commonly referred to as "church organs". Organs are ideally made to accompany human voices. It could be a soloist, choir, whatever, that is one of its key purposes. This first began in the seventh century with Pope Vitalian. At first people were not fond of having music and singing during church services but people quickly became accustomed to having an organ around because of the beautiful sound that complimented the songs of worship. The organ became a popular and much wanted necessity in years to come. Some organs, preferably larger ones, are also used for concerts called organ recitals. Almost any organ large enough outside of church is considered a concert organ. Church organs are very large to begin with, so concert organs must be very, very large. • 29. Bach Fugue Analysis For that reason, Bach used a fugue in solo organ pieces and in instrumental works and choral cantatas. This Fugue is the most famous of fugues by any composer. The difficult part to explain is how Bach created the Toccata's forceful organ effect. When Bach was in Arnstadt when he was younger, the organ ordinarily lacked a 16–foot register on the keyboard; consequently, it sounds an octave lower than the normal 8–foot register. Accordingly, in order to create the effect, Bach used octave doubling; consequently, he continued the resounding effect of the opening bars; conversely, there is no octave doubling in any of Bach's later organ works; moreover, the fugue sounds furious with its uninterrupted series of fast notes. Also, Bach felt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This section segues into the third and final section of the Toccata, which consists almost entirely of a passage doubled at the sixth and comprising reiterations of the same three–note figure, similar to doubled passages in the first section; after a brief pedal flourish, the piece ends with a D minor chord. In Bach's brilliance, he made the subject of the four–voice fugue up entirely of sixteenth notes with an implied pedal point set against a brief melodic subject that first falls and then rises. Nevertheless, Baroque music frequently encountered Violinistic figures and that of Bach, both as fugue subjects and as material in non–imitative pieces. The answer is in the subdominant key, rather than the dominant. Although it's a four–part fugue, there are only three voices, and some of the interludes are in two or even one voice (notated as two); although Bach employed only one simple triadic harmony throughout the fugue, there is an unexpected C minor subject entry and, furthermore, a solo pedal statement of the subject (a unique feature for a Baroque fugue). After the final subject entry, the composition resolves to a sustained B flat major chord; a multi–sectional coda follows, which Bach marked as Recitativo. Waldspurger and Rosenblum define virtualisation in their article I/O virtualization as "decoupling the logical from the physical, introducing a level of indirection between the abstract and the concrete." [1] In this essay I will briefly outline some of the many types of Virtualisation as well as talk about benefits and limitations virtualisation in general. Due to the term 'virtualisation' referring to so many different areas within operating system, talking about the History of this topic is very hard. In Modern Operating Systems, Andrew Tanenbaum states "visualization, which is more than 40 years old" [6]. This book was published in 2009, implying that virtualisation started roughly in the 1969. However, spooling which is an example of I/O virtualisation existed in IBMs SPOOL system. IBM copyrighted the SPOOL system in 1960 suggesting Virtualisation started on or before the 1960s [7]. From the context of Tanenbaum's book, it is clear that he is speaking of virtual machine technology which for the confines of this essay will be considered a subset of virtualisation. Throughout the history of computers more virtualisation techniques have been invented from spooling to virtualised I/O to virtual machines and other things like RAID. • 39. The Importance Of Advancements In Technology Advancements in technology will affect many aspects of our lives in today's society. Whether the effects are positive or negative, it can be sometimes difficult to imagine a world without some sort of modern day technology. The idea of technology as a part of our daily life, can affect how people use technology in the future. The reliance on technology, that a lot of people today have when using their mobile cellular phones and gaming technology such as computers and gaming consoles, can cause negative effects on the person themselves and the people around them, especially when interacting outside their homes. Personally, I can do without certain types of technology, but as a gamer, there are certain types of technology I can't do without. While, I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, I do play a wide variety of video games from first–person shooters, massively multiplayer online role–playing games (MMORPG) and Japanese role–playing games (JRPG), to platform games and turn–based tactics (TBT), and so on. My interest in video games overall is partially because of my interest in technology and future technologies, which is why out of all the readings provided this semester, I decided to focus on the following readings: Murakami and Fujinuma's "Ubiquitous Networking: Towards a New Paradigm", Vries Tantalisingly Close: An Archaeology of Communication Desires in Discourses of Mobile Wireless Media, Serino et al.'s "Pokémon Go and augmented virtual reality games: a cautionary commentary for parents and pediatricians", and Jack Loomis's "Presence in Virtual Reality and Everyday Life: Immersion within a World of Representation". Serino et al. (2016) stated that we are "living in a technologically advancing world" (p. 673), these advancements, for better or for worse, have changed the way people perceive and use technology. So, while a variety of technological advancements can be found in a multiplicity of fields in our society today, I will focus in on the growing video gaming society, its technology and evolution, from past to future, as explored and discussed in the aforementioned readings. Although there are benefits to interacting with co–workers on Second Life, there are some caveats that exist as well. Specifically, the avatars in Second Life both support and fail the necessary feelings of awareness and presence of others, expressing affects or emotions, and communication with others. Virtual reality and actual reality can not ever be completely equivalent to each other because there are limitations of expressing emotion, awareness of the environment and others, and conversing with others. The Second Life avatars both supports and fails the expression of conveying verbal and nonverbal communication between people. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The avatars Emotional actions and affects are supposed by the characters because they can fly and the user can make their avatar perform actions like dancing to express emotions. However, in Second Life, the avatars do not express emotion as much as humans in real life can express and each action must be manually chosen rather than naturally expressing their emotionally–led actions. Also, in real life, one can hear others talking and notice the facial expressions of others and the unique actions of people. The user can receive a wide array of different emotional impressions from the different kinds of avatar appearances that other uses select for their avatar. Some avatars may give off a dreary aura, while others may appear much more pleasant and happy and because of the non– human possibilities, this does make the avatars elicit more visceral responses compared to the physical possibilities of real life ... • 52. HISTORY AND ORIGINATORS OF KEYBOARD Essay HISTORY AND ORIGINATORS OF KEYBOARD BAROQUE PERIOD Harpsichord (Italian cembalo; French clavecin), stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are plucked to produce sound. It was developed in Europe in the 14th or 15th century and was widely used from the 16th to the early 19th century, when it was superseded by the piano. In the 20th century the harpsichord was revived for performance of music of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, as well as for new compositions. The incisive sound quality of the plucked metal strings adds clarity to melodic lines. The harpsichord is particularly effective in performing contrapuntal music–that is, music that consists of two or more melodies played at the same time, such as that of the German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A typical two–manual harpsichord of the 18th century had strings at normal and octave–high pitch playable on the lower manual, strings at normal pitch controlled by the upper manual, and a coupling mechanism. Early History The earliest school of harpsichord building developed in Italy in the 16th and 17th centuries. Italian harpsichords differed from others in that they normally were made of extremely thin wood and then placed in a stronger outer case of the same shape. A second important school of building developed in the 16th and 17th centuries in Flanders, centered around the influential Ruckers family of builders. These schools gave way in the 18th century to distinctive styles of building that developed in France (the Blachet family), Germany (the Hass family), and England (Jacob Kirkman). Harpsichords of the different national schools varied in details of their proportions and construction, resulting in slight, although characteristic differences in tone color. Modern Developments In the 20th century, two broad approaches to harpsichord building emerged. The first utilized recent principles of construction, such as are found in present–day pianos. Stimulated by the Polish harpsichordist Wanda Landowska, this style was exemplified by the French piano firms of Pleyel and Érard. Their harpsichords relied on heavy strings under high tension in a heavily braced case. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From Toys to Practicality: Brain Computer Interface Technology The idea of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology is the subject of high interest for many people and families of the person experiencing considerable physical impairments, such as those with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This knowledge is recognized by several monitors, such as BCI, Brain–Machine Interface (BMI), neuro–brain transmission and Direct Brain Interface (DBI). Conventional computer input and assistive technology devices depend on the small though steadfast muscle movements, which patients lose during the progress of the disease. The desktop virtualization provides its users to maintain their desktops on a remote central server and the users connects this remote central server using a LAN or WAN through the internet. Desktop virtualization is broadly categorized into two categories depending upon the operating system instance is executed locally or remotely. The two categories of desktop virtualization are as follows: Host Based Desktop Virtualization Client Based Desktop Virtualization HOST–BASED DESKTOP VIRTUALIZATION: In the host based virtual machines each and every user connects to a virtual machine that is hosted in a particular data center. The user may or may not connect to the same virtual machine every time and even sometimes the user may be allotted a random virtual machine from a virtual machine pool Sometimes the users connect to a shared desktop i.e. nothing but the users connect to the individual applications that run on a server. This kind of connection of the users to a shared desktop is termed as shared hosted desktop virtualization. In the host based virtual machines the operating systems runs directly on the physical hardware located in the data center. Defining Avatars The use of the term avatar to represent the self or user in the context of shared on–line Internet environments first occurs in the early 1980's with the development of LucasFilms's Habitat project (Farmer). The term came to popular consciousness with the success of the novel SnowCrash (Stephenson). Discussions of the nature of the avatar are often mixed with current cyborg theory. Although the avatar and the cyborg share numerous social constructions and identity politics, in the interest of developing an understanding of the avatar, it is necessary to distinguish it from its cousin, the cyborg. 2.1. The Human Enhanced The term cyborg was coined in 1960 with the appearance of "Cyborgs in Space" by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline. • 67. Bloom 's Taxonomy : Taxonomy Essay Bloom's Taxonomy Bloom's Taxonomy provides teachers a basis to develop classroom lessons with more depth and higher levels of critical thinking. This hierarchy shows how students can learn material better and retain more later. There are six levels (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation) which cover the basics of the information (knowledge) all the way to critical analysis proving or disproving theoretical situations (evaluation). This technique appears ideal for my classes – Computer Science (Java programming) – because of the intense focus on critical thinking and problem solving aspects of knowledge acquisition and use. I believe that the 1st three levels – knowledge, comprehension, and application – are ideally suited to the "on–level" CS classes, and I can add analysis and synthesis to the "Pre–AP" CS classes. These two classes assume that the students have little to no prior experience with computer programming and that the courses are geared to that end by providing much of the basics of Java. It is because of this that so much of the 1st half of the year–long course is spent on basic concepts. We naturally fall into these first three levels, knowledge, comprehension, and application, during this part of the course. Through the first 8 weeks, we have discussed basic information such as variables, arithmetic operators, displaying data on the terminal, keyboard input, and decision control. This financial juggernaut was formed in 2000, when Chase Manhattan Corporation and JP Morgan & Co merged. Currently, Chase is well known for their credit card line in America, and is responsible for consumer banking, while JP Morgan is well known internationally, and responsible for investment banking. Although JPMC is one of the world's biggest banks, senior management at JPMC has continuously referred to the company as a technology company. Technology plays an astronomically more important role in banking because of convenience and security. JPMC currently has over 40,000 technologists, of which over 18,000 are software developers (Crowe). In comparison, Google, arguably the most renowned tech company in the world, has around 60,000 employees. With such an enormous staff of technologists and coders, JPMC, like any big tech corporation, must be concerned with employee production efficiency. Over my past summer as an intern, I've noticed that there is one key area that JPMC could improve on – keyboards. Every technologist at JPMC has their own area for their computer setup, and unsurprisingly, most technologists spend a majority of their time in front of their computer doing one task – typing. The keyboards provided by JPMC were basic plastic membrane keyboards that did not support any added functionality. Even as an intern, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

HCI or Human Computer Interaction is a process that evaluates the interaction between the user and a program. For example does the user take advantage of features a program may have, do they use headphones when using a program. Everything that is used to create a VR (virtual reality) or create GUI (graphical user interface) is put into play at HCI. According to (Dix, A. Finlay, J. So HCI takes into account both sides of the computers users. It looks at things like the computer graphics, operating system, and programming language and on the human side according to (Cairns, P. & Cox, A. 2008) "communication theory, graphic and industrial design disciplines, linguistics, social science, cognitive psychology, and human performance are relevant." The AR system complements the real environment with computer–generated (virtual) objects that look as if they exist in the real world. In augmented reality, virtual objects are added to the surrounding real environment. Augmented reality scenes display two common properties: world environments and generated images. They merge real world environments with computer generated images (Azuma et al., 2001).
