The Model Of Behavior Change
The primary objective of this paper is discuss the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change and its
application in healthcare settings, and discuss the strength and weakness of the Model. Number of
theories and analytical models were described that helps us to understand how people modify their
behavior but no one of them accepted universally.
The Transtheoretical model (TTM) of change which is also known as the the stages of change
model, first described by Prochaska and associates (1983) is widely used theory to explain the
behavior change. Unlike other models of behavior change, which focus on social or biological
influences, The TTM model focuses on individual's decision–making abilities. Assumption of The
TTM models and major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other people for their efforts and visible results recognize them.
The final stage of TTM is maintenance in which people have significantly modified their behavior
and working to prevent relapse. Individual involved in modified behavior for more than 6 months is
considered as maintenance stage. Individual's stage in process can be measures by asking questions
related to current behavior, future intentions and past attempts.
Process of Change
The process of change in TTM model explains how the changes occur in different stages. Ten
different processes can be divided in to two groups of cognitive and affective experiential processes
and behavioral processes. These covert and overt process needs to be implemented to achieve
desired behavior change.
Consciousness Raising: is a process in which individual increase their awareness through
information, education and feedback related to desired behavior.
Environmental revaluation: Understanding of pros and cons of problematic behavior that affects
social environment.
Dramatic Relief: Process of experiencing and sharing emotion related to problematic behavior.
Social Liberation: it is need for increased opportunities and alternatives to promote desired behavior
among deprived and oppressed
Self–reevaluation: Cognitive and affective assessment of self with and without unhealthy behavior.
Self–Liberation: is individual's belief in their actions and commitment for future

Health And Behavior Change Analysis
The local, state and national, government has many roles and responsibilities in health and behavior
change (Altman, 2001). An effective public health system that can assure the nation's health requires
the collaborative efforts of a complex network of people and organizations in the public and private
sectors, as well as an alignment of policy and practice of governmental public health agencies at the
national, state, and local levels.
In the United States, governments at all levels federal, state, and local have a specific responsibility
to strive to create the conditions in which people can be as healthy as possible which implement
health and behavior change. In the government, policy makers can play their role within the public

Behavior Change Project Report
Through my behavior change project I have learned many things about myself and life in general.
My personal goal was to read two encouraging bible verses every morning. Working towards a goal
is not always the easiest thing to do and I have now learned that because I have tried it myself.
Although, I did complete my goal it was still hard to work up the motivation to make the effort. I
believe through this project some of my views have changed on problem solving and I know that
this will help me in the future. I have learned so much about myself during this project and after
completing the project. First and foremost, my life has changed and like that it has. Although my
goal was to read two encouraging bible verses every morning my behavior

Student Behavior Change
There are trends that have developed among young adults that are quite troubling. Studies from the
Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention show that 70 percent of deaths of ten to twenty–four
year olds come by way of automobile crashes, accidental injuries, homicide, and suicide (Bristol 4).
These high numbers are due to the fact that people are making poor decisions that could have been
prevented. Numbers by the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System show that an upwards of 20%
of college students have driven under the influence of alcohol (Johnson 68). This statistic is
especially concerning as many involved are aged below the legal drinking age. The college years are
the time that many students develop good and bad health behaviors. It is only fitting that an

Students and alumni that have taken a physical activity lab in conjunction with the lecture section
have shown a more positive attitude towards physical fitness then those who have just taken a
lecture based course (Esslinger 164). This lab class gives you a more hands on approach to the
information learned in the lecture course. Activities such as nutrition label reading, various exercise
demonstrations as well as behavior change projects can be offered. (McBride 357). A behavior
change project is a personal assessment of a certain problem behavior in your life that you would
like to change. This could be anywhere from quitting smoking, to eating your daily values of fruits
and vegetables. The course helps you realize the problem, sets up a very specific plan to help aid
you in your process to fulfilling that goal, and shows you how to track your progress. This process
gives you all the necessary tools and motivation to put you on the right path for healthier changes in
the future. All the student then needs to do is commit to their behavior change to put it in effect

Behavior Change Assignment Analysis
Behavior Change Assignment My goal for this behavior change assignment is to get at least seven
hours of sleep for at least five nights a week for at least two weeks. I set my goal to be at least seven
hours because that is the recommended number of hours of sleep a adult should have each night. I
wanted to make this behavior change because I find myself feeling tired and exhausted throughout
the day because of the lack of sleep I get. I also wanted to make this behavior change because I
began to take naps in the afternoon. After waking up from these naps, I felt even more exhausted
and tired than before I took the nap. I'm hoping that by getting more sleep at night that I can
eliminate naps so I can use my time for something more productive. This behavior goal wasn't a
easy habit for me to change. This goal was a lot harder for me to achieve than I thought it was going
to be. However, I did achieve my goal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was able to obtain my goal by managing my homework better which gave me more time so i was
able to go to bed earlier than usual. This goal was very hard to implement because I had to change
my daily routine in order to try to get more sleep each night. I changed my daily routine by
eliminating naps from my day and using that time to do homework in order to go to bed earlier.
What influenced me in order to implement this goal was that I was getting sick of always feeling
exhausted and tired when I didn't get enough sleep. I originally thought that this goal on a scale from
1–10, 1 being the easiest and 10 being the hardest, would be a 6. I knew the goal was going to be a
little challenging because I enjoy staying up late, however, I knew the goal could be attainable. I had
to make a lot of changes to my daily activities in order to meet this goal. I also had to stay
committed to my goal by going to bed at a decent time in order to make sure I got a good night of

Transtheoretical Model Of Behavior Change
People sometimes have indisposed behaviors that can affect their lives. However, people can
successfully change these behaviors by following some stages that the transtheoretical model
provides. The transtheoretical model of behavior change is the most powerful theory that has been
discovered for evolving unhealthy habit. Therefore, this theory is flexible of any ill–behavior that
needs to be changed. Traditionally, behavior change was often construed as an event, such as
quitting smoking, drinking, or overeating. The transtheoretical model recognizes evolution as a
process that unfolds over time, involving progress through a series of stages (1). The transtheoretical
model provides five important stages of changing which are precontemplation, contemplation,
preparation, action, and maintenance. To begin, precontemplation stage is happening when people
do not realize their problems. Through this phase, individuals may not be able to recognize the
consequences of their ill–behaviors. Therefore, people are often resisting, unmotivated, and reluctant
help. They may defend their current behavior, and they do not find it a problem. For example,
smokers do not want to quit smoking because they do not see it damaging their health. After,
contemplation stage occurs immediately when people aware of their ill–behavior ... Show more

Moreover, it evaluates an individual's willingness to achieve new healthier behavior. The
transtheoretical model provides phases and strategies for changing practices, and it guides people
through stages of alteration. The stages of changing begin with an inactive phase, into getting ready,
then determination phase, follows by actual change, and end with maintenance. The combination of
these components should have a high probability of producing positive outcomes relative to alter
harmful behaviors to healthy

Behavior Change Project
Introduction:
I am looking forward to changing my caffeine intake. I have been consuming a large amount of
caffeinated drinks before my workouts which has become a problematic health behavior. I plan to
eliminate the abundance of caffeine from my diet. To do this I will develop a behavioral
intervention. I believe this project is going to help me challenge a difficult task that I have been
procrastinating about. I am also eager to be able to construct a similar behavior change intervention
for other individuals who may need my assistance. I have been drinking energy drinks which
contain more caffeine than three cups of coffee in one serving, I like to feel more dedicated to my
workouts. The problem is I am covering up the feelings of being tired and somewhat depressed. I
started this behavior last September. I can identify this behavior as a dependency because when I
started I would drink 1 serving which is either a can of an energy drink or 1 scoop of powder mix.
Recently before I started to taper off I would have 2 servings and a coffee. This made me very
focused on the routine but after working out I felt a "crash" effect which became annoying and
depressing. This is stressful and unhealthy. I was acting angry. My Mom and some friends
recognized the change in my attitude. On weekends when the surf was good, I mixed 2 servings at
times with water and had coffee. I actually felt frustrated if

Behavior Change Scenarios
The client expressed that she wants to change her habit of checking and using her phone constantly
throughout the day. As an interviewer, I hope to strengthen facilitators and limit the barriers with the
behavior change. A facilitator that the client expressed that can assist with the behavior change are
times during the day or events that she is least likely to use her phone. Most of the time, it is
something that distracts her from the phone, like watching movies at a movie theatre where phone
usage is a restriction or while hanging and eating out with friends that involves more direct
conversation. A barrier that I understood from the client's response during the interview is that she

As an observer, I thought the interviewer did really well. She layered the questions so that each one
follow up with the other. At the start of the interview, the interviewer attempt to identify the key
behavior problem the client wants to change using open ended questions such as what brought the
client to seek help and why he thought it was important. During the interview, she moved on to what
the client did previously to help solve these problems such as companion support, things done to
change in the past and how it did not work out. At the final stage of the interview, she gathered
enough information to offer solutions taking in consideration that the client has a busy life schedule
and tried to accommodate it. It was great to see how the interviewer set the tone for a conversational
and relaxed vibe. This created a comfortable environment for both the interviewer and the client. In
addition, it was great to see how the she repeated the problems the client described during the
interview at the end because it means she was listening and paying attention to the client's concern
during the entire duration of the interview. The only thing I would have done differently is starting
off speaking slower. I thought that the interviewer asked the questions a little too quickly at the
beginning probably because of the time she has to cover the

Most people would rather learn how to cope with certain issues on their own. Behavior therapy is
pretty effective in teaching people how to cope with some of life's common problems. Some
selected problem areas that behavior therapy is particularly effective in is anxiety disorders,
depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, domestic violence, sexual deviance, pain
management, and hypertension (Corey, 2005, p. 228). The therapy sessions are well defined and
procedural. Both the therapist and the client have clearly defined roles, and the importance of client
awareness and participation in the therapeutic process is stressed. The therapist teaches concrete
skills to the client utilizing instruction, modeling, and performance feedback (Corey, 2005, p. 235).
According to the text, the client engages in rehearsal with feedback until skills are well learned. The
client also often receives homework assignments to complete between therapy sessions (Corey,
2005, p. 235). In order for therapy to be successful, the client must be fully cooperative and
motivated to change and fully carry out therapeutic activities. If the clients are not involved in this
way, then chances are slim that therapy will be successful (Corey, 2005, p. 235). References Corey,

Personal Behavior Change
Introduction The behavior I selected was to create a habit of drinking at least one gallon of water
every day. I chose this behavior because after talking to my academic advisor and evaluating my
life, I felt that, as an athlete, the consumption of the right fluids each day would have the greatest
effect on my body. The dimension of health affected by this behavior change is obviously my
physical health. The drinks you consume on a daily basis affect your body greatly. Overall they
affect the body day–by–day and in the long run. Day–by–day changes to the body include energy
and food cravings. Yet also, in the long run, the body's intake of fluids can lead to or prevent
disease, chronic illness, and overall appearance. Though physical health ... Show more content on

First I had to identify a few obstacles that could hinder my plan from working affectively. These
obstacles included: My desire for other drinks (i.e. juices, sodas, Gatorade), outside forces such as
restaurants and friends offering other drinks, and the habit of thinking there is a better option than
water. I then found it affective to come up with various strategies to that I could use to overcome the
aforementioned obstacles. First, I decided to use the shaping technique mentioned in some our
studies by steadily building up my water intake for each day. Also, I decided to substitute all drinks
at dinner with water only. This helped greatly because dinner is the meal of the day where I tend to
consume the greatest amount of fluids. I also decided to keep several 24 ounce bottles of water
beside my bed and refrigerator to help encourage me to drink more water. The last strategy I decided
to implement was exercising more so that my body would crave more fluids. Exercising extra was
hard because I am a college basketball player, so finding time to add in more physical activity even
when my body was hurting was very difficult, but it also proved how dedicated I was to the process
of behavior change. In any behavior change plan it is very important to make sure that short–term
goals are set and also mini–rewards. If I was able to drink 64 ounces of water each day for the first
five days, I would allow myself to enjoy a flavored water with my dinner. If I was able to drink 96
ounces of water each day for the next three days, I then would allow myself to enjoy a day of rest
which is something I don't experience very often. If I then drank a gallon each day for the next three
days, I allowed myself to enjoy a day at the mall, because I love to shop for myself yet rarely

Behavior Change Project Examples
I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it with
the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it was
done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45. I
have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this
project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that
I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that
I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be
running each week and I have a race every week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I
was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for
the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I ... Show more content on

My dad decided this year that he wanted to go the annual air race championships in Reno, Nevada. I

to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying to avoid spending
too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that were close by. I tried to
mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find, but that did not always
work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending machine at my school. It is
right in the main hallway and full of only unhealthy options. I dealt with this by not bringing any
small bills to school. This allowed me to walk past it without the ability thereby removing the

Behavior Change Proposal
It remains that time of year again when people make resolutions to stay fit. My family and I are no
exception. Due to not being able to embark on this journey alone, I will engage my parents in

Six Source model of influencing a vital behavior change. This paper will demonstrate my proposal
to change their diet and exercise strategy to support us while embarking on our journey to eat
healthy and stay fit.
SOURCE 1 – PERSONAL MOTIVATION The inordinate step in our journey to a healthier lifestyle
remains personal motivation. The question we must ask ourselves is, "Do I really want to diet and
exercise? In the Influencer (2013), the authors tell us, "If you don't deal with personal motivation,

A Research Study On Health Promotion, Behavior Change
Abstract Workplace wellbeing has been an important aspect of government and employer focused
for the past few years. Considering that people spend such a large amount of the time at work.
Employment is a key element in promoting good health and the World Health Organization
recognises the workplace as a key avenue for health promotion (WHO, 2015). A systematic
literature search was undertaken to establish the importance of workplace for promotion of good
health practices, particularly in a social cultural context of behavioural changes in nursing field

Different people (nurses) cope with this in different ways some better than others (Chang, et.al.,
2006). Method Literature search This study began with a database search to locate all the current
and relevant articles about workplace–based health promotion. A total of nine articles from the last
ten years have been assessed for relevance for the study. Data Analysis To evaluate the studies,
articles were entered into a literature review matrix, identifying the specific aims of the study,
demographic, methods, major findings, limitations and article focus. Data were analysed using
content analysis to produce a descriptive summary of the content. Results were independently
reviewed within each article and data were analysed to identify the causes of behavioural changes.
Results A total of nine articles from the nine original studies using qualitative and quantitative
research methods met the criteria for inclusion in the study (9 articles with different research
objectives with similar participants). Four out of nine stated that the most common cause of changes
in behaviour is job satisfaction, followed by language and different values and beliefs. Four articles
have been critically analysed to conclude that job satisfaction is the most common cause of
behavioural changes in the workplace (Chang, Daly, Hancock, Bidewell, Johnson, Lambert, &

Physicians, Change And Toxic Behaviors
Physicians, change and toxic behaviors
Healthcare environments are often plagued with dysfunctional behaviors that create antisocial, self–
defeating behaviors (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). Traditionally, healthcare providers were
males that dominated the profession which created a sense of personal entitlement and resistance to
change (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). With the advent of the Affordable Care Act (ACA),
healthcare is in the midst of a paradigm shift that embraces change, efficiency and collaboration, a
foreign concept to some traditional providers. Traditionally, prior to the implementation of the ACA,
physicians felt empowered and in control (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). Under the ACA,
healthcare organizations fervently transformed their facilities to accommodate the mandates of the
ACA, such as CPOE. With this loss of control, physicians are angry and passively transfer that
anger to the supportive nursing staff. Because hospital leadership traditionally did not challenge the
physician behavior, this anti–social behavior is tolerated. Consequently, nurses develop fear, distrust
and discouragement, which compromises the collaboration that is necessary to produce quality
patient outcomes. Porter–O'Grady and Malloch (2014) outline ten principles to minimize this type
of organizational toxicity that manipulates progress and collaboration. These principles are tools that
work to transform the dysfunctional, toxic environment into a healthier,

Behavior Change Theories and Models

HCA 331: Introduction to Health Care Education

In order for health education to be successful, it is imperative to fully understand how behavior can
change in an instant. Health education depends on using the proper theories and models. This paper
will address the theories and models used in health education, the importance of the theories, as well
as real world examples and information from models used in health education. To understand why it
is important to use theories, one must first understand the difference between theories and models.

The Health–belief model provides useful framework for investigating predictors of condom use
behaviors among high–risk adolescents, whether male or female. For the precaution adoption
process, a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. While an
individual may be well aware that he/she has an unhealthy diet, they may lack the motivation to
make the necessary changes. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be successful.
A cross–sectional survey among 979 non–obese adults, aged 25–35 years, was conducted. Perceived
behavioral control was lowest among people who had decided to prevent weight gain, only 85%
surveyed intended to prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld, & Brug, 2013).
Acknowledging there is a risk, or potential for risk is great but without motivation the problem/risk
will persist and likely get out of hand. The similarities found in all the models is that they are all
centered around individuals and their choices and decisions on whether or not to make the best of
their choices. A healthy lifestyle is a choice each individual must make for their self, choices that
health educators are required to inform their clients of. Health educators must know about the
theories and models used in health education so they will properly be educated themselves in order
to help their clients to a healthy lifestyle. Theories and models

The Health Promotion And Behavior Change
Like never before have there been so many demands or efforts on those in health care to facilitate
behavior changes, or so many potential strategies from which to choose from. Health care
professionals now realize that multiple interventions at multiple levels are often needed to initiate
and sustain behavior change in their patients, in their community, in their family and ultimately in
their own lives. Behavior change is our best hope in reducing problems such as preventable
diseases, chronic illnesses, health disparities, violence, and death around the world. In this Age of
Information, where society has shifted to an economy based on information computerization,
gamification has become a prevalent force in promoting such changes.
Although gamification is a new term for me, it is apparent, through my research that it has become a
recent topic in health promotion and behavior change "Gamification is a broad 'umbrella' term used
to encompass the process of using gaming elements to motivate and engage people in non–game
contexts" (King, Greaves, Exeter, and Darzi, 2013). It includes the application of gaming mechanics
and thinking to change behavior and can turn the monotonous or ordinary way of doing an activity
such as exercising or healthy eating into a more engaging experience by providing rewards,
encouraging prompts and competition between other players. Consequently, better health behavior
saves money, approximately $2.5 trillion to be exact, cutting costs in

Target Behavior:
I am completing this behavior change project on myself. I had to think long and hard about what
habit I would like to change. I must say, at first, I actually did not have a personal problem with this
behavior I chose to modify. After carefully examining my bank and credit card statements in
November, I had noticed that I was spending hundreds of dollars per month on takeout.
The targeting behavior that I will be creating an intervention for is eat lunch from home and not
order anything takeout. This behavior must be modifies because there seem to be no reason for me
to order out when I usually bring my lunch from home. The issue is that I never eat what I bring in
for lunch.

Changes in Human Behavior Based on Social Situations and...
The study of human interaction is a part of the study of social psychology. How humans interact in
social situations has long been an area of much curiosity among people who study human behavior.
Do we change when we are in the company of others? Do we conform to certain societal rules even
though we may not agree with them? What do we get out of the way that we interact with others
acceptance, satisfaction or misery? Undoubtedly, there are cultural factors that play a part in how we
act with others. What kind of society one lives in – culturally and politically speaking can play a
major role in how people interact with one another. For example, someone living in China will
interact with others in a way that someone from the United States will because the cultures and the
political climate are so different. This paper will look at a couple of ways in which human behavior
changes based on social situations and will look at the precursors and consequences of those
behaviors in terms of social psychology concepts. It will then address whether or not those certain
behaviors that are exhibited necessitate therapeutic intervention. Groupthink is a phenomenon that
was first brought to the attention of the psychological community by a social psychologist named
Irving Janis. According to Janis (1972), Groupthink happens when a group of people makes flawed
decisions because group pressures lead to a breakdown of "mental efficiency, reality testing, and
moral judgment" (p. 9). Some

important areas of my life, such as school and sports, have improved also. My performance in the
classroom and on the basketball court has noticeably become better after making this behavior

On nights when we had late practice or games, I had to plan way in advanced in order to complete
assignments and obligations early. There are still nights when I have late games and practices that
make it impossible to get my goal of 8 hours of sleep. However, I still try to stick to my plan as best
as I can. I did encounter an extreme issue with meeting my goal after our first home game of the
season. Because we won the game, we had leave out at 3 a.m. the following morning in order to fly
to Washington state to play Gonzaga. My parents were in town, so I spent time with them that
evening. I then went back to my dorm and started packing. I ended up getting two hours of sleep
that night. The affects I felt the next few days reinforced why I should work hard to change my
sleeping habits, as I struggled to perform even the simplest of daily functions. It was absolutely
terrible to say the least. This experience motivated me even more the meet my behavior change goal.
I definitely believe that this behavior change will serve me well in the future. Establishing good
sleeping habits now will help to ensure a healthier lifestyle in the future. I never knew how the
effects of sleep deprivation truly impact one's life until I made this change. The only thing I would
wish to change in the future is that I could maybe get more hours of sleep. I realize that with me

Abstract
This paper analyses the human activities that lead towards global climatic changes. It establishes the
thought that human behavior and activities that are the major cause of global climatic changes,
therefore, human beings shall alter their lifestyles in order to put a stop at the global climatic
changes.
Global Climatic Changes
Introduction
Global climatic change can be defined as a long term shift in the overall and average climatic
conditions. It is quite evident from various statistics that there has been a significant change in the
global climate. The end of the 20th and the 21st century have witnessed some of the warmest
periods of the globe. The temperature recorded during this period was reported to be highest when
compared with the instrumental temperature records. The evident shifts in the Global climate started
in the mid of the 19th century and after that the global climate kept on getting worse with the
passage of time. (Unknown, 2007)
Human behavior and activities trigger climatic changes in a significant manner. These activities
cause the climate of the globe to change by altering the energy balance of the earth. The major threat
to the global climate is the burning of fossil fuels. These fuels, when burnt, produce Carbon dioxide
and other green house gases and aerosols which are great threats to the atmosphere. These gases
alter the solar radiations,

I selected my student from one of my students that I viewed to have some of the worst behavior in
the class. I am at Bond Elementary School which is an intercity school. Most of the school's student
population comes from subsidized housing (the projects). I am in a first grade class of nineteen
students. While performing my duties at in Mrs. J Williams Classroom I became very eager to
observe as well as work with a student by the name of Ja'Von W. Ja'Von is a six year old, I recently
found out that his mother is on drugs and is being supported by his sixteen year old brother. Many of
the students that I have observed in the classroom have had behavior problems and issues with their

In the intervention after helping him with his vocabulary and introducing the interventive technique
I will record how many words he gets wrong with the tally marks on the form same as I did for
baseline. Ja'Von will hopefully be reading with 80% fluency after the end of the intervention.
Developing an Intervention
The intervention I selected was Chart Moves. The way that I implemented this particular
intervention with the student is by writing his name on the poster in which I supplied. Every time
the student performed the desired behavior, which was reading fluently within two minutes and
answering post questions he would move up half a notch. With the chart, Ja'Von would have the
opportunity to earn different reinforcement such as things that he was interested in or things that he
liked. I became aware of the things that he was interested in during the observation phase and before
I introduced him to the intervention, I asked him to make a list of the 10 things that he enjoyed
doing or things that he liked in general. The list included but were not limited too cookies, candy
and action figures. This gave me the opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to increase the
desired behavior and decrease the inappropriate one. After the intervention was introduced, it was
explained to the student how it would work. Moreover, the way the system was designed to work in
the way that the student would quickly and accurately read a passage

Dietary Change: Strategies To Promote Behavior Changes
Chapter 6 discusses about the strategies to promote behavior changes. From the food management
tools, behavior change strategies, and re–constructing cognitive thinking. One of the strategies in
making dietary change is to keep a journal. Having a journal would teach a client to record their
food and activity, so it would be easy to measure and monitor their progress. However, keeping a
journal also not easy to follow and the tracking usually declines after few weeks (144). Personally, I
found that keeping a food journal is really hard to follow through. I got really motivated for the first
two weeks and feel off the wagon really soon. One of the factor which cause my lack of motivation
in tracking of my food is being forgetful. And at the

Behavior Change Tests
Introduction In the figure below, Catania and colleagues have explained the process of behavioural
change and how each step impacts the overall approach of the individual. The figure confirms all of
the steps that have been aforementioned and illustrate how the success of each step is important for
not only its completion but also the appropriate initiation of the next step (Catania et al, 1990). The
labelling refers to the recognition of the problem; the commitment to the stage of planning to resolve
the problem; and, the enactment to the action taken. In this paper we will mainly highlight how the
different behaviour change tests will impact an individual when he chooses to sustain a medium–
sized company. The paper will be divided across four sections: the first will be the critical evaluation
of the GET profile and test (attached) where the various personal traits highlighted in the results will
be discussed; the second section will include the supporting evidence for assessments inclusive of
universal examples; the third section will include the antecedent influences that I had, primarily, in
the form of advice from my family members, that instigated the development of certain business
traits in me; the fourth and final section will include the implications of these tests on my business
traits. The paper will then end with a conclusion of further personal analysis on my business.

Changes In Reading Behavior With all the new advancements with technology our reading behavior
has no choice but to change with us. Author Nicholas Carr states, "the Net is becoming a universal
medium, the conduit for most of the information that flows through my eyes and ears and into my
mind". Author Ziming Liu says that we are spending "an increasing amount of time reading
electronic documents" where a screen–based reading behavior is emerging. Our new generation is
the digital media generation. You either need to keep up with it or be swept aside. Change will
happen no matter what. A significant change in which both authors noted was that we no longer can
immerse ourselves into lengthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liu isn't worried about books being replaced by the computer, "It seems unlikely that the computer
will in the future replace the printed book as medium in the way that it replaced the typewriter as a
writing tool" (Liu 702). In a study by the National University of Mexico, 80 percent of students
prefer to read a digital piece of text in print in order to understand the text with clarity. Carr's major
worry is if digital media will take away our ability to think deeply. "But it's a different kind of
reading, and behind it lies a different kind of thinking, perhaps even a new sense of the self" (Carr).
Carr believes the Internet will basically take over our world. "The Internet, an immeasurably
powerful computing system, is subsuming most of our other intellectual technologies. It's becoming
our map and our clock, our printing press and our typewriter, our calculator and our telephone, and
our radio and TV"

Personal Behavior Change
Everyone has different challenge in his/her life ,and he/she may have different view on the same
thing. Therefore, people will have different goals which they are eager to achieve. Based on what
my life looks like and what I need in my life, my behavior change is to exercise at least one hour
every day. The reasons why I choose this goal are because I want to spend some time relaxing from
my daily life, and get the balance between education and occupation. Moreover, I expect to burn the
fat in my body because I spend very little time for workout since I got a job. When I planned to
accomplish this behavior change, I knew that challenges or difficulties would appear, I could not
avoid them and I could not finish it easily. But I am the kind of person who likes challenge and I am
not afraid of it. Therefore, I chose this behavior change. During the process of this behavior change,
I met a lot of difficulties and I learn how to get balance well in my life. The first and the biggest
difficulty is time because the time availability is limit for me. Because I have two summer classes
and I need to work five days weekly, time is huge challenge for me during the process. My schedule
looks like going school on the morning and working at the evening. Therefore, the only ... Show

believe that if I spend time and work hard, I can get through everything no matter how hard it is.
And if I had chance to select a behavior to change, I would do the same thing again because it is full
of challenges for me. But I would reduce the time for working or others so that everything can get
balance if I continue to keep working on this behavior change. I will try my best to continue this
behavior change because it will make my body strong and

The Theories And Models Of Behavior And Behavior Change
Mirror published a story about a father and husband who totally spied members of his family. [1] He
installed an application on their mobile devices which allowed him to control their location, to read
their emails, text messages. This application allows him even to listen to their conversations and to
see who they are with via camera. While this story makes an impression as being fabricated, it could
serve as a basis to deliberate about aspects of human nature. Though the husband's misdeed is at
least controversial from legal and ethical point of view, nevertheless the causative effects of his
behaviour is a matter of concern in this paper. I will talk about the human behaviour first, about how
it is perceived from a scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can find out, that he is a web developer and a technology geek. We can also find that his wife
knew about the application and that she witnessed couple of times when the application was used.
We cannot specify neither genetic factors or core faith. We can assume that the story is about typical
British family and in this way, we can assume the British culture and social norms are the
background of the story. We know very little about real husband's attitude. He confessed that safety
was his concern. But we don't know whether he is honest and whether this is the whole truth.
Therefore, I think that it doesn't make sense to try and analyse the story in depth, because the story
is rather shallow. However, basing on the story we can explore some what–if scenarios, like what if
the wife didn't know about the application, what if the husband lied and his intentions was not so
harmless as he explained. The interesting part of the story is that it touches the problem which
appeared quite recently. If we take into account permanent character of husband's espionage, and if
we make an assumption that it was done without explicit consent of his wife and his children, then
this story illustrates a problem which has become quite prevalent lately – a stalking. I'm going to
explore this problem in more detail and I will try to find its relevance to the story mentioned above.
I will also try to identify causative

The Organizational Behavior And Direction Of Change
Self–Reflection In my current profession the organizational behavior and direction of change is
influenced by the organization's culture. Organizational behavior occurs in all organizations but and
shapes and develops the culture without the employees ever being aware. Culture can be described
as the particular roles and values that people are accustomed to in a workplace. Culture can vary
from organization to organization. Before taking this course at Cornerstone, organizational behavior
and change was an unfamiliar notion. After taking this course I have a better sense of my role as a
leader within my current profession. I have been able to further expound on the concept of what
drives people at work, whether it is prestige, money or power. I am now able to utilize the concepts
from the CQ model and recognize our own use of the steps in Kotter's Model. CQ Model Many
people think of culture as the specific food a person eat, their traditional family values or a person's
ethnic background. Although these assumptions are comprised in the explanation of culture, it is not
limited to only the customs described. In fact culture refers to behavior, values and norms of a
particular environment. This environment in this case is the workplace. Utilizing the CQ Model or
Cultural Intelligence Model, I was able to recognize my own strengths and areas that need
improvement. The CQ Model was developed by David Livermore which summed up people's
cultural capabilities and ability

Proposal For Behavior Change Plan
Benchmark – Proposal for Behavior Change Plan Howard is an 11–year–old student in the sixth
grade that has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Grand Canyon University, 2014). He also
may have a learning disability, based on his academic struggles in the areas of math and reading
(2014). Howard exhibits off–task and task avoidance behaviors when faced with a math assignment
(2014). This paper will suggest steps to address and change these behaviors, possible motivational,
instructional, and safety interventions that should be utilized to support Howard, and reinforcement
techniques that will encourage and motivate positive behavior. Steps for Behavior Change The first
step to making behavior changes is identifying the behavior and understanding possible reasons why
the behavior is being produced (Wright, 2013). Recognizing that Howard exhibits the described
undesirable behaviors during math, a class in which he is struggling to understand the material, is a
huge red flag that may indicate that Howard is avoiding his assignments, because he does not
understand how to do them. Also, it is important to realize that off–task behavior and distraction are
common symptom of ADHD (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d.). So, technically, each
concerning behavior can be attributed to Howard's disability (Grand Canyon University, 2014). With
this knowledge, Howard should be assessed academically to determine whether or not he requires
support from the special education

How we teach is just as important as what we teach. This is especially true when training staff to
perform on the job. Due to the important role of our direct care staff it is crucial to implement
training procedures that are scientific and evidence–based. Based on the following literature review,
Positive Behavior Changes (PBC) has created a comprehensive training package for direct care
staff. By utilizing Personalized Systems of Instruction (PSI), video training, in–situ training and

As the name suggests, this type of training should take place 'in situ' or in an environment where the
staff can get exposure to potential challenging behaviors or crises through role–play. When
researching these methods, the following study surfaced. Researchers evaluated the effects of
behavioral skills training (BST) with in–situ training (IST) to teach safety skills to 4–7 year old
children. The ten participants were evaluated when they found a gun, on their demonstration of
safety skills. In order to prevent gun–play, the children were taught appropriate safety skills using
modeling, rehearsal and feedback (Miltenberger, 65). In addition, simulated–situ training (SIT) and
in–situ training were compared between all participants. Results of this study demonstrated that SIT
and BST significantly less effective than in–situ training (IST) was found to be an effective training
tool, and the skills acquired were generalized and maintained over months. It is essential to provide
in–situ training to staff, as this is the best opportunity for skill development and feedback. While this
study did not identify simulated in–situ training, or what we refer to as, role–play as being the most
effective training method, it is the best way to provide hands–on learning opportunities for the staff

Behavior Change Reflection
I thoroughly enjoyed the behavior change program. I started this program thinking one way about
yoga and left with a completely different point of view. I now have a new work out that I love doing
and will continue to do well into the future. For my weekly goals, I did meet them most weeks
however, there were some weeks where I felt I did not reach the goal I set for myself. That was to be
expected so it never derailed my motivation when I came up short on my goals. I did meet all of my
long term goal. In the end I gained more flexibility while still improving my strength and maintain
my body composition. I also found a workout that I enjoy doing which distresses and relaxes me.
The only change that needs to be made to continue my progress is that I need to devote more time to
working on my flexibility, even more than I already do. Whenever I have free time I should spend
15–20 minutes working on my flexibility so that I can eventually get to where I want to be. Before,
once I finished my yoga workouts for the week is was sometimes hard to find the motivation to
work on my flexibility during my down time. That is now something I would like to change.

Behavior Change Theory
Are behavior change theories important to consider when planning and implementing behavior
change interventions?
I think that behavior change theories are quite important in order to develop behavior change
interventions. The theories may advance scholarly insight and methodologies to health professionals
in order to direct effective interventional applications. The interdisciplinary expertise that may be
gleaned from the theorists, may be a necessary element given the current complexities facing today's
health issues. If careful consideration is given to theoretical methodologies that may be effectively
used to redirect behaviors in a positive direction, development of a rational course of interventional
actions to effect change could be realized.

I have personally observed when I eat more vegetables that I am able to have regular bowel
movements. I have also noted that I have increased energy. The data that I collected as a baseline
showed me that I was eating too small of an amount of vegetables per week. That data did not
surprise me, but it showed me that my intake of vegetable was not where it needed to be. This
motivated me even more to make the change.
The S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time frame) behavior that I am going
to change is that I am going to increase my intake of vegetables per week to 17.5 cups. There may
be a few obstacles that may stop me from meeting my weekly target. One of those obstacles is
sometimes being too tired to put together a meal that contains the recommended serving of
vegetables. Another obstacles is sometimes having classes one after another with approximately 10
minutes between each of them causes for me to feel as though I do not have a chance to eat. These
obstacles can affect any full time student or even someone who is always on the go. The first

Climate Change And Its Effect On The Behavior Of Animals
Climate change a constant topic discussed in today's society, among these topics include its effect on
the behavior of animals. The effects of climate change can alter a number of different behaviors in
animals their migratory patterns, their hibernation patterns, their breeding patterns, and their eating
behaviors and in addition, all of these alterations to a habitat could cause injury to the food chain of
an ecosystem. Wildlife in an area isn't only affected directly by climate change but the alterations
made by humans due to climate change. All of these different changing factors all add to the severity
of climate.
Breeding is essential among all species but most species require ideal settings to breed. Climate
change alters these ideal settings "A sea level rise of only 50cm could cause sea turtles to lose their
nesting beaches – over 30% of Caribbean beaches are used by turtles during the nesting season and
would be affected"(Ali Penman, Climate Change – Effects on Animals) the rise in sea levels due to
an increase of heat can affect the ability of a species to produce offspring. As a result, the total
population of said species would drastically decrease. In addition, the drastic decrease in one species
would affect the food source of that species natural predators and further disrupt the food chain in
that species ecosystem. The decrease in the species would not only affect the species natural
predators but also the specific food source. The loss of that species

The purpose and relevance of this study are to determine if we use a certain amount of praise
towards students if their behavior will change through different kinds of situations. There were two
experiments conducted for this study. The two experiments were called Experiment 1 and
Experiment 2. The different groups that would be used during this study were called easy 100, easy
33, and difficult 100. The main focus of this study is to get rid of problematic behaviors, mainly
those who self–injure, have aggression, and have tantrums, all of which that are serious enough for
the safety of the child and others. The study has a few factors that are liable for the care of the
problem behaviors which, falls into two classes such as escape behavior which is controlled by
negative reinforcement developments, and attention requesting behavior that is controlled by
positive reinforcement developments. There is a decent amount of evidence that is said to believe
that many of the children learn to produce problematic behaviors in the existence of aversive
stimuli. It is seen that aversive stimuli are being used in everyday classroom settings. In these
settings the instructional demands may be more frequent aversive stimuli and a range of different
problematic behaviors such as aggression, self–injury, and tantrums may serve as an 'escape '
behavior which, allows children to avoid what they were going to be participating in, in the
classroom. In the first experiment, we will be

Reflection Paper On Behavior Change
My behavior change was to go to the Colvin more. When I made this choice, I thought it would go
quite well for me, considering I lived near the Colvin and I considered my class schedule to be fairly
spaced out. My goals were simple: go to the Colvin a certain amount of time by a certain date, and
go to a certain amount of dance (Tango) classes by a certain date. My rewards for completing those
goals seemed to be enough to motivate me. I was confident that I would be able to complete this
behavior change and feel better about myself and my personal health.
Although this may seem bad, the biggest accomplishment is how I was able to constantly find some
reason it anther to not go to the Colvin. I know that I lost track and really put my studies as most
important. However, there were plenty of time that I would have gone to the Colvin for at least 30
minutes, but I came up with some excuse not to go. If I could change anything, it would be to make
a greatest success to be something more positive for my behavior change. There is something that I
think is a success. I started watching what I ate, and where I ate. I started eating different portion
sizes as well. If there is one positive result from this attempted behavior change, it would be how I
view my personal health and myself.
The biggest area for future improvement will be trying to find someone to maybe encourage me
more and keep me more accountable. The person I chose to help keep me accountable was the
wrong choice, as

In everyday life many people develop habits, but it is never too late to attempt to change that bad
habit to live a healthier life. For this behavioral change project, I was asked to choose a health
behavior that I would like to change for the better. So, I decided that I wanted to increase the amount
of water I was consuming each day. The standard recommendation on how much water an
individual should consume is about 64 ounces daily. However how much a person should drink is
more individualized then one might assume. Therefore, for this particular project my goal was to at
least consume 64 ounces of water daily as a baseline starting point. I also had to consider days when

Since, I have been working on my fitness and health goals over the last year, I of course have
needed to start drinking more water. Yet, I still have not been able to get myself to drink the daily–
recommended amount of water. Therefore, there are a number of reasons that support my reasoning
for wanting to increase my daily water intake. For instance, I want to incorporate drinking more
water, because I know that it plays such an essential role in a persons overall health. Changing this
behavior will ultimately benefit me in now and in the future. Also, not drinking enough water
fatigues the body and muscles, especially for those that are actively exercising. Since, I have been
incorporating more exercise into my daily routine, it is important that I also incorporate at least the
recommended daily water intake if not more. Another significant factor is that water is essential to
organ health and function. Therefore, in order for my organs to function properly I must be
consuming the proper amount of water. That is why, I would like to make this behavior change in
my life now, so that I could live a long and healthy life. As I reflect back on the experiences I
encountered while trying to change my water consumption, I have to admit that overall I had a

The Model Of Behavior Change

  • 1. The Model Of Behavior Change The primary objective of this paper is discuss the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change and its application in healthcare settings, and discuss the strength and weakness of the Model. Number of theories and analytical models were described that helps us to understand how people modify their behavior but no one of them accepted universally. The Transtheoretical model (TTM) of change which is also known as the the stages of change model, first described by Prochaska and associates (1983) is widely used theory to explain the behavior change. Unlike other models of behavior change, which focus on social or biological influences, The TTM model focuses on individual's decision–making abilities. Assumption of The TTM models and major ... The final stage of TTM is maintenance in which people have significantly modified their behavior and working to prevent relapse. Individual involved in modified behavior for more than 6 months is considered as maintenance stage. Individual's stage in process can be measures by asking questions related to current behavior, future intentions and past attempts. Process of Change The process of change in TTM model explains how the changes occur in different stages. Ten different processes can be divided in to two groups of cognitive and affective experiential processes and behavioral processes. These covert and overt process needs to be implemented to achieve desired behavior change. Consciousness Raising: is a process in which individual increase their awareness through information, education and feedback related to desired behavior. Environmental revaluation: Understanding of pros and cons of problematic behavior that affects social environment. Dramatic Relief: Process of experiencing and sharing emotion related to problematic behavior. Social Liberation: it is need for increased opportunities and alternatives to promote desired behavior among deprived and oppressed Self–reevaluation: Cognitive and affective assessment of self with and without unhealthy behavior. Self–Liberation: is individual's belief in their actions and commitment for future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Health And Behavior Change Analysis The local, state and national, government has many roles and responsibilities in health and behavior change (Altman, 2001). An effective public health system that can assure the nation's health requires the collaborative efforts of a complex network of people and organizations in the public and private sectors, as well as an alignment of policy and practice of governmental public health agencies at the national, state, and local levels. In the United States, governments at all levels federal, state, and local have a specific responsibility to strive to create the conditions in which people can be as healthy as possible which implement health and behavior change. • 5. Behavior Change Project Report Through my behavior change project I have learned many things about myself and life in general. My personal goal was to read two encouraging bible verses every morning. Working towards a goal is not always the easiest thing to do and I have now learned that because I have tried it myself. Although, I did complete my goal it was still hard to work up the motivation to make the effort. I believe through this project some of my views have changed on problem solving and I know that this will help me in the future. I have learned so much about myself during this project and after completing the project. First and foremost, my life has changed and like that it has. • 7. Student Behavior Change There are trends that have developed among young adults that are quite troubling. Studies from the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention show that 70 percent of deaths of ten to twenty–four year olds come by way of automobile crashes, accidental injuries, homicide, and suicide (Bristol 4). These high numbers are due to the fact that people are making poor decisions that could have been prevented. Numbers by the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System show that an upwards of 20% of college students have driven under the influence of alcohol (Johnson 68). This statistic is especially concerning as many involved are aged below the legal drinking age. The college years are the time that many students develop good and bad health behaviors. It is only fitting that an informational health course ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students and alumni that have taken a physical activity lab in conjunction with the lecture section have shown a more positive attitude towards physical fitness then those who have just taken a lecture based course (Esslinger 164). This lab class gives you a more hands on approach to the information learned in the lecture course. Activities such as nutrition label reading, various exercise demonstrations as well as behavior change projects can be offered. (McBride 357). A behavior change project is a personal assessment of a certain problem behavior in your life that you would like to change. This could be anywhere from quitting smoking, to eating your daily values of fruits and vegetables. The course helps you realize the problem, sets up a very specific plan to help aid you in your process to fulfilling that goal, and shows you how to track your progress. This process gives you all the necessary tools and motivation to put you on the right path for healthier changes in the future. All the student then needs to do is commit to their behavior change to put it in effect (Esslinger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Behavior Change Assignment Analysis Behavior Change Assignment My goal for this behavior change assignment is to get at least seven hours of sleep for at least five nights a week for at least two weeks. I set my goal to be at least seven hours because that is the recommended number of hours of sleep a adult should have each night. I wanted to make this behavior change because I find myself feeling tired and exhausted throughout the day because of the lack of sleep I get. I also wanted to make this behavior change because I began to take naps in the afternoon. After waking up from these naps, I felt even more exhausted and tired than before I took the nap. I'm hoping that by getting more sleep at night that I can eliminate naps so I can use my time for something more productive. This behavior goal wasn't a easy habit for me to change. This goal was a lot harder for me to achieve than I thought it was going to be. However, I did achieve my goal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was able to obtain my goal by managing my homework better which gave me more time so i was able to go to bed earlier than usual. This goal was very hard to implement because I had to change my daily routine in order to try to get more sleep each night. I changed my daily routine by eliminating naps from my day and using that time to do homework in order to go to bed earlier. What influenced me in order to implement this goal was that I was getting sick of always feeling exhausted and tired when I didn't get enough sleep. I originally thought that this goal on a scale from 1–10, 1 being the easiest and 10 being the hardest, would be a 6. I knew the goal was going to be a little challenging because I enjoy staying up late, however, I knew the goal could be attainable. I had to make a lot of changes to my daily activities in order to meet this goal. I also had to stay committed to my goal by going to bed at a decent time in order to make sure I got a good night of sleep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Transtheoretical Model Of Behavior Change People sometimes have indisposed behaviors that can affect their lives. However, people can successfully change these behaviors by following some stages that the transtheoretical model provides. The transtheoretical model of behavior change is the most powerful theory that has been discovered for evolving unhealthy habit. Therefore, this theory is flexible of any ill–behavior that needs to be changed. Traditionally, behavior change was often construed as an event, such as quitting smoking, drinking, or overeating. The transtheoretical model recognizes evolution as a process that unfolds over time, involving progress through a series of stages (1). The transtheoretical model provides five important stages of changing which are precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. To begin, precontemplation stage is happening when people do not realize their problems. Through this phase, individuals may not be able to recognize the consequences of their ill–behaviors. Therefore, people are often resisting, unmotivated, and reluctant help. They may defend their current behavior, and they do not find it a problem. For example, smokers do not want to quit smoking because they do not see it damaging their health. After, contemplation stage occurs immediately when people aware of their ill–behavior ... The transtheoretical model provides phases and strategies for changing practices, and it guides people through stages of alteration. • 13. Speech : Behavior Change Project Behavior Change Project Introduction: I am looking forward to changing my caffeine intake. I have been consuming a large amount of caffeinated drinks before my workouts which has become a problematic health behavior. I plan to eliminate the abundance of caffeine from my diet. To do this I will develop a behavioral intervention. I believe this project is going to help me challenge a difficult task that I have been procrastinating about. I am also eager to be able to construct a similar behavior change intervention for other individuals who may need my assistance. I have been drinking energy drinks which contain more caffeine than three cups of coffee in one serving, I like to feel more dedicated to my workouts. The problem is I am covering up the feelings of being tired and somewhat depressed. I started this behavior last September. I can identify this behavior as a dependency because when I started I would drink 1 serving which is either a can of an energy drink or 1 scoop of powder mix. Recently before I started to taper off I would have 2 servings and a coffee. This made me very focused on the routine but after working out I felt a "crash" effect which became annoying and depressing. This is stressful and unhealthy. I was acting angry. My Mom and some friends recognized the change in my attitude. On weekends when the surf was good, I mixed 2 servings at times with water and had coffee. I actually felt frustrated if ... As an interviewer, I hope to strengthen facilitators and limit the barriers with the behavior change. A facilitator that the client expressed that can assist with the behavior change are times during the day or events that she is least likely to use her phone. Most of the time, it is something that distracts her from the phone, like watching movies at a movie theatre where phone usage is a restriction or while hanging and eating out with friends that involves more direct conversation. As an observer, I thought the interviewer did really well. She layered the questions so that each one follow up with the other. At the start of the interview, the interviewer attempt to identify the key behavior problem the client wants to change using open ended questions such as what brought the client to seek help and why he thought it was important. During the interview, she moved on to what the client did previously to help solve these problems such as companion support, things done to change in the past and how it did not work out. At the final stage of the interview, she gathered enough information to offer solutions taking in consideration that the client has a busy life schedule and tried to accommodate it. It was great to see how the interviewer set the tone for a conversational and relaxed vibe. This created a comfortable environment for both the interviewer and the client. In addition, it was great to see how the she repeated the problems the client described during the interview at the end because it means she was listening and paying attention to the client's concern during the entire duration of the interview. The only thing I would have done differently is starting off speaking slower. Behavior Therapy and the Changes in the Field of Psychology Roderick J. Smith Columbia College Abstract Behavior therapy is a clinical approach that can be used to treat a variety of disorders, in various types of settings, and with a wide range of special population groups. A number of disorders have been successfully treated by using this approach. The popularity of psychotropic drugs is contributing to the growing risk of prescription drug addiction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most people would rather learn how to cope with certain issues on their own. Behavior therapy is pretty effective in teaching people how to cope with some of life's common problems. Some selected problem areas that behavior therapy is particularly effective in is anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, domestic violence, sexual deviance, pain management, and hypertension (Corey, 2005, p. 228). The therapy sessions are well defined and procedural. Both the therapist and the client have clearly defined roles, and the importance of client awareness and participation in the therapeutic process is stressed. The therapist teaches concrete skills to the client utilizing instruction, modeling, and performance feedback (Corey, 2005, p. 235). According to the text, the client engages in rehearsal with feedback until skills are well learned. The client also often receives homework assignments to complete between therapy sessions (Corey, 2005, p. 235). In order for therapy to be successful, the client must be fully cooperative and motivated to change and fully carry out therapeutic activities. If the clients are not involved in this way, then chances are slim that therapy will be successful (Corey, 2005, p. 235). References Corey, G. (2005). • 19. Personal Behavior Change Introduction The behavior I selected was to create a habit of drinking at least one gallon of water every day. I chose this behavior because after talking to my academic advisor and evaluating my life, I felt that, as an athlete, the consumption of the right fluids each day would have the greatest effect on my body. The dimension of health affected by this behavior change is obviously my physical health. The drinks you consume on a daily basis affect your body greatly. Overall they affect the body day–by–day and in the long run. Day–by–day changes to the body include energy and food cravings. Yet also, in the long run, the body's intake of fluids can lead to or prevent disease, chronic illness, and overall appearance. Though physical health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First I had to identify a few obstacles that could hinder my plan from working affectively. These obstacles included: My desire for other drinks (i.e. juices, sodas, Gatorade), outside forces such as restaurants and friends offering other drinks, and the habit of thinking there is a better option than water. I then found it affective to come up with various strategies to that I could use to overcome the aforementioned obstacles. First, I decided to use the shaping technique mentioned in some our studies by steadily building up my water intake for each day. Also, I decided to substitute all drinks at dinner with water only. This helped greatly because dinner is the meal of the day where I tend to consume the greatest amount of fluids. I also decided to keep several 24 ounce bottles of water beside my bed and refrigerator to help encourage me to drink more water. The last strategy I decided to implement was exercising more so that my body would crave more fluids. Exercising extra was hard because I am a college basketball player, so finding time to add in more physical activity even when my body was hurting was very difficult, but it also proved how dedicated I was to the process of behavior change. In any behavior change plan it is very important to make sure that short–term goals are set and also mini–rewards. If I was able to drink 64 ounces of water each day for the first five days, I would allow myself to enjoy a flavored water with my dinner. If I was able to drink 96 ounces of water each day for the next three days, I then would allow myself to enjoy a day of rest which is something I don't experience very often. If I then drank a gallon each day for the next three days, I allowed myself to enjoy a day at the mall, because I love to shop for myself yet rarely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Behavior Change Project Examples I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45. I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be running each week and I have a race every week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I ... My dad decided this year that he wanted to go the annual air race championships in Reno, Nevada. I was not expecting this to fall in the middle of behavior change project. This trip made it really easy to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying to avoid spending too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that were close by. I tried to mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find, but that did not always work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending machine at my school. It is right in the main hallway and full of only unhealthy options. Due to not being able to embark on this journey alone, I will engage my parents in influencing their diet and exercise habits. To invoke this change I will apply Grenny et al.'s (2013) Six Source model of influencing a vital behavior change. This paper will demonstrate my proposal to change their diet and exercise strategy to support us while embarking on our journey to eat healthy and stay fit. SOURCE 1 – PERSONAL MOTIVATION The inordinate step in our journey to a healthier lifestyle remains personal motivation. The question we must ask ourselves is, "Do I really want to diet and exercise? • 25. A Research Study On Health Promotion, Behavior Change Abstract Workplace wellbeing has been an important aspect of government and employer focused for the past few years. Considering that people spend such a large amount of the time at work. Employment is a key element in promoting good health and the World Health Organization recognises the workplace as a key avenue for health promotion (WHO, 2015). A systematic literature search was undertaken to establish the importance of workplace for promotion of good health practices, particularly in a social cultural context of behavioural changes in nursing field when encountering different situation at work such as stress and bullying, and how does multicultural workplace affects behaviour of each staff. Method Literature search This study began with a database search to locate all the current and relevant articles about workplace–based health promotion. A total of nine articles from the last ten years have been assessed for relevance for the study. Data Analysis To evaluate the studies, articles were entered into a literature review matrix, identifying the specific aims of the study, demographic, methods, major findings, limitations and article focus. Data were analysed using content analysis to produce a descriptive summary of the content. Results were independently reviewed within each article and data were analysed to identify the causes of behavioural changes. Results A total of nine articles from the nine original studies using qualitative and quantitative research methods met the criteria for inclusion in the study (9 articles with different research objectives with similar participants). Four out of nine stated that the most common cause of changes in behaviour is job satisfaction, followed by language and different values and beliefs. Four articles have been critically analysed to conclude that job satisfaction is the most common cause of behavioural changes in the workplace (Chang, Daly, Hancock, Bidewell, Johnson, Lambert, & Lambert, 2006; Chang, Bidewell, W., Huntington, Daly, J., Johnson, Wilson, ... • 27. Physicians, Change And Toxic Behaviors Physicians, change and toxic behaviors Healthcare environments are often plagued with dysfunctional behaviors that create antisocial, self– defeating behaviors (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). Traditionally, healthcare providers were males that dominated the profession which created a sense of personal entitlement and resistance to change (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). With the advent of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), healthcare is in the midst of a paradigm shift that embraces change, efficiency and collaboration, a foreign concept to some traditional providers. Traditionally, prior to the implementation of the ACA, physicians felt empowered and in control (Porter–O'Grady & Malloch, 2014). Under the ACA, healthcare organizations fervently transformed their facilities to accommodate the mandates of the ACA, such as CPOE. With this loss of control, physicians are angry and passively transfer that anger to the supportive nursing staff. Because hospital leadership traditionally did not challenge the physician behavior, this anti–social behavior is tolerated. Consequently, nurses develop fear, distrust and discouragement, which compromises the collaboration that is necessary to produce quality patient outcomes. Porter–O'Grady and Malloch (2014) outline ten principles to minimize this type of organizational toxicity that manipulates progress and collaboration. These principles are tools that work to transform the dysfunctional, toxic environment into a healthier, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavior Change Theories and Models Week 1 Assignment HCA 331: Introduction to Health Care Education Instructor: Debra Storlie September 23, 2013 In order for health education to be successful, it is imperative to fully understand how behavior can change in an instant. Health education depends on using the proper theories and models. This paper will address the theories and models used in health education, the importance of the theories, as well as real world examples and information from models used in health education. To understand why it is important to use theories, one must first understand the difference between theories and models. The Health–belief model provides useful framework for investigating predictors of condom use behaviors among high–risk adolescents, whether male or female. For the precaution adoption process, a real world application is eating healthy and exercising to control weight. While an individual may be well aware that he/she has an unhealthy diet, they may lack the motivation to make the necessary changes. Motivation is vital if the precaution adoption model is to be successful. A cross–sectional survey among 979 non–obese adults, aged 25–35 years, was conducted. Perceived behavioral control was lowest among people who had decided to prevent weight gain, only 85% surveyed intended to prevent weight gain (Wammes, Kremers, Breedveld, & Brug, 2013). Acknowledging there is a risk, or potential for risk is great but without motivation the problem/risk will persist and likely get out of hand. The similarities found in all the models is that they are all centered around individuals and their choices and decisions on whether or not to make the best of their choices. A healthy lifestyle is a choice each individual must make for their self, choices that health educators are required to inform their clients of. Health educators must know about the theories and models used in health education so they will properly be educated themselves in order to help their clients to a healthy lifestyle. • 31. The Health Promotion And Behavior Change Like never before have there been so many demands or efforts on those in health care to facilitate behavior changes, or so many potential strategies from which to choose from. Health care professionals now realize that multiple interventions at multiple levels are often needed to initiate and sustain behavior change in their patients, in their community, in their family and ultimately in their own lives. Behavior change is our best hope in reducing problems such as preventable diseases, chronic illnesses, health disparities, violence, and death around the world. In this Age of Information, where society has shifted to an economy based on information computerization, gamification has become a prevalent force in promoting such changes. Although gamification is a new term for me, it is apparent, through my research that it has become a recent topic in health promotion and behavior change "Gamification is a broad 'umbrella' term used to encompass the process of using gaming elements to motivate and engage people in non–game contexts" (King, Greaves, Exeter, and Darzi, 2013). It includes the application of gaming mechanics and thinking to change behavior and can turn the monotonous or ordinary way of doing an activity such as exercising or healthy eating into a more engaging experience by providing rewards, encouraging prompts and competition between other players. Consequently, better health behavior saves money, approximately $2.5 trillion to be exact, cutting costs in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I must say, at first, I actually did not have a personal problem with this behavior I chose to modify. The targeting behavior that I will be creating an intervention for is eat lunch from home and not order anything takeout. • 35. Changes in Human Behavior Based on Social Situations and... The study of human interaction is a part of the study of social psychology. How humans interact in social situations has long been an area of much curiosity among people who study human behavior. Do we change when we are in the company of others? Do we conform to certain societal rules even though we may not agree with them? What do we get out of the way that we interact with others acceptance, satisfaction or misery? Undoubtedly, there are cultural factors that play a part in how we act with others. What kind of society one lives in – culturally and politically speaking can play a major role in how people interact with one another. For example, someone living in China will interact with others in a way that someone from the United States will because the cultures and the political climate are so different. This paper will look at a couple of ways in which human behavior changes based on social situations and will look at the precursors and consequences of those behaviors in terms of social psychology concepts. It will then address whether or not those certain behaviors that are exhibited necessitate therapeutic intervention. Groupthink is a phenomenon that was first brought to the attention of the psychological community by a social psychologist named Irving Janis. According to Janis (1972), Groupthink happens when a group of people makes flawed decisions because group pressures lead to a breakdown of "mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment" (p. 9). There are still nights when I have late games and practices that make it impossible to get my goal of 8 hours of sleep. However, I still try to stick to my plan as best as I can. I did encounter an extreme issue with meeting my goal after our first home game of the season. Because we won the game, we had leave out at 3 a.m. the following morning in order to fly to Washington state to play Gonzaga. My parents were in town, so I spent time with them that evening. I then went back to my dorm and started packing. I ended up getting two hours of sleep that night. The affects I felt the next few days reinforced why I should work hard to change my sleeping habits, as I struggled to perform even the simplest of daily functions. It was absolutely terrible to say the least. This experience motivated me even more the meet my behavior change goal. I definitely believe that this behavior change will serve me well in the future. Establishing good sleeping habits now will help to ensure a healthier lifestyle in the future. I never knew how the effects of sleep deprivation truly impact one's life until I made this change. RUNNING HEAD: Global Climatic Changes Global Climatic Changes Student Name University Name Abstract This paper analyses the human activities that lead towards global climatic changes. It establishes the thought that human behavior and activities that are the major cause of global climatic changes, therefore, human beings shall alter their lifestyles in order to put a stop at the global climatic changes. Global Climatic Changes Introduction Global climatic change can be defined as a long term shift in the overall and average climatic conditions. It is quite evident from various statistics that there has been a significant change in the global climate. The end of the 20th and the 21st century have witnessed some of the warmest periods of the globe. The temperature recorded during this period was reported to be highest when compared with the instrumental temperature records. The evident shifts in the Global climate started in the mid of the 19th century and after that the global climate kept on getting worse with the passage of time. (Unknown, 2007) Human behavior and activities trigger climatic changes in a significant manner. These activities cause the climate of the globe to change by altering the energy balance of the earth. The major threat to the global climate is the burning of fossil fuels. These fuels, when burnt, produce Carbon dioxide and other green house gases and aerosols which are great threats to the atmosphere. These gases alter the solar radiations, ... The way that I implemented this particular intervention with the student is by writing his name on the poster in which I supplied. Every time the student performed the desired behavior, which was reading fluently within two minutes and answering post questions he would move up half a notch. With the chart, Ja'Von would have the opportunity to earn different reinforcement such as things that he was interested in or things that he liked. I became aware of the things that he was interested in during the observation phase and before I introduced him to the intervention, I asked him to make a list of the 10 things that he enjoyed doing or things that he liked in general. The list included but were not limited too cookies, candy and action figures. This gave me the opportunity to use the reinforcers as ways to increase the desired behavior and decrease the inappropriate one. After the intervention was introduced, it was explained to the student how it would work. Behavior Change Tests Introduction In the figure below, Catania and colleagues have explained the process of behavioural change and how each step impacts the overall approach of the individual. The figure confirms all of the steps that have been aforementioned and illustrate how the success of each step is important for not only its completion but also the appropriate initiation of the next step (Catania et al, 1990). The labelling refers to the recognition of the problem; the commitment to the stage of planning to resolve the problem; and, the enactment to the action taken. In this paper we will mainly highlight how the different behaviour change tests will impact an individual when he chooses to sustain a medium– sized company. The paper will be divided across four sections: the first will be the critical evaluation of the GET profile and test (attached) where the various personal traits highlighted in the results will be discussed; the second section will include the supporting evidence for assessments inclusive of universal examples; the third section will include the antecedent influences that I had, primarily, in the form of advice from my family members, that instigated the development of certain business traits in me; the fourth and final section will include the implications of these tests on my business traits. The interesting part of the story is that it touches the problem which appeared quite recently. If we take into account permanent character of husband's espionage, and if we make an assumption that it was done without explicit consent of his wife and his children, then this story illustrates a problem which has become quite prevalent lately – a stalking. Before taking this course at Cornerstone, organizational behavior and change was an unfamiliar notion. Proposal For Behavior Change Plan Benchmark – Proposal for Behavior Change Plan Howard is an 11–year–old student in the sixth grade that has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Grand Canyon University, 2014). He also may have a learning disability, based on his academic struggles in the areas of math and reading (2014). Howard exhibits off–task and task avoidance behaviors when faced with a math assignment (2014). This paper will suggest steps to address and change these behaviors, possible motivational, instructional, and safety interventions that should be utilized to support Howard, and reinforcement techniques that will encourage and motivate positive behavior. Steps for Behavior Change The first step to making behavior changes is identifying the behavior and understanding possible reasons why the behavior is being produced (Wright, 2013). Recognizing that Howard exhibits the described undesirable behaviors during math, a class in which he is struggling to understand the material, is a huge red flag that may indicate that Howard is avoiding his assignments, because he does not understand how to do them. Also, it is important to realize that off–task behavior and distraction are common symptom of ADHD (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d.). That data did not surprise me, but it showed me that my intake of vegetable was not where it needed to be. This motivated me even more to make the change. The S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time frame) behavior that I am going to change is that I am going to increase my intake of vegetables per week to 17.5 cups. There may be a few obstacles that may stop me from meeting my weekly target. One of those obstacles is sometimes being too tired to put together a meal that contains the recommended serving of vegetables. Another obstacles is sometimes having classes one after another with approximately 10 minutes between each of them causes for me to feel as though I do not have a chance to eat. These obstacles can affect any full time student or even someone who is always on the go. The first obstacle of being too tired to prepare a meal that contain the recommended amount of vegetables can be dealt with. The way in which this barrier can be dealt with ... • 67. Climate Change And Its Effect On The Behavior Of Animals Climate change a constant topic discussed in today's society, among these topics include its effect on the behavior of animals. The effects of climate change can alter a number of different behaviors in animals their migratory patterns, their hibernation patterns, their breeding patterns, and their eating behaviors and in addition, all of these alterations to a habitat could cause injury to the food chain of an ecosystem. Wildlife in an area isn't only affected directly by climate change but the alterations made by humans due to climate change. All of these different changing factors all add to the severity of climate. Breeding is essential among all species but most species require ideal settings to breed. Climate change alters these ideal settings "A sea level rise of only 50cm could cause sea turtles to lose their nesting beaches – over 30% of Caribbean beaches are used by turtles during the nesting season and would be affected"(Ali Penman, Climate Change – Effects on Animals) the rise in sea levels due to an increase of heat can affect the ability of a species to produce offspring. As a result, the total population of said species would drastically decrease. In addition, the drastic decrease in one species would affect the food source of that species natural predators and further disrupt the food chain in that species ecosystem. The decrease in the species would not only affect the species natural predators but also the specific food source. The loss of that species ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. What Are Some Amount Of Praise Towards Students With Their... The purpose and relevance of this study are to determine if we use a certain amount of praise towards students if their behavior will change through different kinds of situations. There were two experiments conducted for this study. The two experiments were called Experiment 1 and Experiment 2. The different groups that would be used during this study were called easy 100, easy 33, and difficult 100. The main focus of this study is to get rid of problematic behaviors, mainly those who self–injure, have aggression, and have tantrums, all of which that are serious enough for the safety of the child and others. The study has a few factors that are liable for the care of the problem behaviors which, falls into two classes such as escape behavior which is controlled by negative reinforcement developments, and attention requesting behavior that is controlled by positive reinforcement developments. There is a decent amount of evidence that is said to believe that many of the children learn to produce problematic behaviors in the existence of aversive stimuli. It is seen that aversive stimuli are being used in everyday classroom settings. In these settings the instructional demands may be more frequent aversive stimuli and a range of different problematic behaviors such as aggression, self–injury, and tantrums may serve as an 'escape ' behavior which, allows children to avoid what they were going to be participating in, in the classroom. In the first experiment, we will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Reflection Paper On Behavior Change My behavior change was to go to the Colvin more. When I made this choice, I thought it would go quite well for me, considering I lived near the Colvin and I considered my class schedule to be fairly spaced out. My goals were simple: go to the Colvin a certain amount of time by a certain date, and go to a certain amount of dance (Tango) classes by a certain date. My rewards for completing those goals seemed to be enough to motivate me. I was confident that I would be able to complete this behavior change and feel better about myself and my personal health. Although this may seem bad, the biggest accomplishment is how I was able to constantly find some reason it anther to not go to the Colvin. I know that I lost track and really put my studies as most important. However, there were plenty of time that I would have gone to the Colvin for at least 30 minutes, but I came up with some excuse not to go. If I could change anything, it would be to make a greatest success to be something more positive for my behavior change. There is something that I think is a success. I started watching what I ate, and where I ate. I started eating different portion sizes as well. If there is one positive result from this attempted behavior change, it would be how I view my personal health and myself. The biggest area for future improvement will be trying to find someone to maybe encourage me more and keep me more accountable. The person I chose to help keep me accountable was the wrong choice, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Health Behavior Change Project In everyday life many people develop habits, but it is never too late to attempt to change that bad habit to live a healthier life. For this behavioral change project, I was asked to choose a health behavior that I would like to change for the better. So, I decided that I wanted to increase the amount of water I was consuming each day. The standard recommendation on how much water an individual should consume is about 64 ounces daily. However how much a person should drink is more individualized then one might assume. Therefore, for this particular project my goal was to at least consume 64 ounces of water daily as a baseline starting point. I also had to consider days when I worked out. So, I decided that I would attempt to increase that amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since, I have been working on my fitness and health goals over the last year, I of course have needed to start drinking more water. Yet, I still have not been able to get myself to drink the daily– recommended amount of water. Therefore, there are a number of reasons that support my reasoning for wanting to increase my daily water intake. For instance, I want to incorporate drinking more water, because I know that it plays such an essential role in a persons overall health. Changing this behavior will ultimately benefit me in now and in the future. Also, not drinking enough water fatigues the body and muscles, especially for those that are actively exercising. Since, I have been incorporating more exercise into my daily routine, it is important that I also incorporate at least the recommended daily water intake if not more. Another significant factor is that water is essential to organ health and function. Therefore, in order for my organs to function properly I must be consuming the proper amount of water. That is why, I would like to make this behavior change in my life now, so that I could live a long and healthy life. As I reflect back on the experiences I encountered while trying to change my water consumption, I have to admit that overall I had a positive experience. I learned a lot about myself, and my own personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
