Risk Management of London 2012 Olympics
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Olympics are mega–global event that attracts the attention worldwide with billions of audience
watching on television, while millions flock to events as spectators. The media embraces the
opportunity of covering every inch of the games. This kind of interest is what organisers face with
no room for error in relation to external attacks or system failures of the event although risks are
bound to occur to any project or program as in the case of Olympics. These risks may occur with a
positive impact to the organisers though they dread to have negative risks, which causes ripple effect
to the project. (Taylor, 2006)

As expected, experience is the best teacher to put things right the second time round. This applies to
Olympic organisers who strive to avoid risks as early as possible and to assure athletes plus
spectators and the public that steps have been taken to prevent risks. This can be in terms of tangible
evidence and intangible evidence. (Jennings, 2012)
Tangible evidence may relate to issues like the construction of Olympic village where all athletes
converge during the period of Olympic Games or the presence of security personnel to reassure the
nation and the public as illustrated in the diagram below.

Intangible evidence relates to laws as highlighted in the next pages or verbal correspondences
through which organisers use to reassure the nation, spectators, athletes and the entire world by use
of radio programmes, television programmes, newspapers etc.
2.0 LONDON 2012 –RISK MANAGEMENT
In late 2005, Olympic host city was internationally known to be London for 2012 Games.
Unfortunately, it is the same period when terrorist activities wreaked havoc in London. (Nugent et
al. 2011) Perhaps, this was a wakeup call for the government to revise and tighten on all issues that
would lead to risk loophole.
The UK government developed a strategy in four modules to embrace and mitigate the risks
associated with hosting mega events, Olympics in this

2012 Presidential Election
The 2012 presidential election was fundamentally different than the presidential election of 2004. In
2004, George W Bush defeated John Kerry with 62,028,719 votes, which was essentially 50.8
percent of the ballots cast. In 2004 the issue that was of most concern for Americans was terrorism.
Furthermore, the attacks on September 11th 2001 served in bringing the country together to help
secure the win for Bush. The polling data shows that 52 percent of the people believed that Bush
would do a better job dealing with terrorism and homeland security, versus 29 percent for Kerry.
Voters seemed to prefer Bush in dealing with problems in Iraq, 50 to 37 and furthermore, on moral
issues, by 47 to 29. Kerry was ahead 48 to 32 on jobs and unemployment and by a fairly wide
margin of 51 to 28 on health care. When comparing how people voted, Kerry had the majority of ...

In the years leading up to the 2012 presidential elections, there seemed to be a lot of people that
were moving away from their traditional party lines and changing sides. It would seem that Mitt
Romney's career as a wealthy businessman would become harmful in the same ways that the "swift
boat" attacks on Kerry were harmful in 2004. During John Kerry's running for the presidency in
2004, his Vietnam "record" came under scrutiny in so much as to discredit his wartime service. In
2012, the Obama campaign used the same type of strategy to show a disconnect between Romney
and the American people. The number of eligible voters that actually voted dropped between the
2008 and 2012 elections by nearly 3.5%. Some believe this to be typical in a second term
presidential election. ushistory.org states "Since many Americans are pleased with economic
progress, they may feel reluctant to make a change, so they stay at home on Election Day".
However, I do not believe that to be completely the

2012 Election Analysis
The 2012 election was a difficult challenge between Democratic Incumbent Barack Obama and
Republican Mitt Romney. Romney came from a famous political family, but would it be enough to
win the election? Obama's first term in 2008–2012 would ultimately decide the outcome of his
second term. The two candidates both had a prior reputation that would make or break the election.
The economic conditions leading into the 2012 election were at devastatingly low points with the
unemployment rate at a boggling 10%, highest it had been since the 1982 recession. Our nation was
dealing with a plethora of significant issues during the time of the election and the citizens wanted a
president who could promise to resolve those conflicts. Their campaign styles, ... Show more

These issues will not only affect the countries surrounding them, but they may also affect our
nation's economy and overall safety. Conflicts that were concerning to the United States include
nuclear weapons in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, terrorism threat caused by the instability in
Pakistan sparked by a "civil–military" crisis. The crisis within Pakistan confronted its issue with the
United States because it could potentially draw in militant force. These dangerous movements
within the world around us are not the only challenges that they face, their economies are slowly
plummeting much like our own. Many countries faced economic deficits in 2008 causing it to be the
marked as a global financial crisis. This crisis is considered to be worst than the Great Depression
and other recessions because those were followed by an economic boom where goods and services
are in high demand, in this case it did not

An Analysis of the Global Significance of the 2012 London...
An analysis of the global significance of the 2012 London Summer Olympics opening ceremony
The 2012 London Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony (Hereafter LSOOC) was watched by
62,000 spectators in the stadium and an estimated audience of one billion across all five continents,
it was for a few hours the focal–point of the world. This essay will conclude that the live broadcast
of this major–sporting media event has become economically significant; primarily as a result of the
increasing global commercialisation of sport.
Introduction
Sport is seen as the most desirable element of television viewing. It has played a significant role in
the growth of television, especially during its emergence as a global technological ... Show more

This sort of behaviour is motivated in and around public venues that provide large television screens
for viewing pleasure. The manipulation of time and space has led to the accessibility of television in
bars and restaurants which led to the construction of a world enabled public sphere. Consequently,
the event itself becomes a dispersed occasion taking place not only at the sports arena, but also
within homes and other public places.
The Olympics Games
The Olympic Games is a major internationalized media event, it highlights both summer and winter
sports in which athletes from around the world can participate in. The Olympic Games are
considered to be the worlds' most notable contest with more than 200 nations competing. The
Summer Olympic Games are held quadrennialy, meaning that the event occurs every four years.
Media events are live television broadcasts. The rise of television has allowed for audiences to act as
a witness to the spectacle. While sporting tournaments offer commentary to shape the spectators
perceptions, 'Contests' and 'Coronations' invite the audience at home and at the live event to act as
partisans and judges. The audience is then obligated to assess the team's performance not only in the
games, but also the display of the opening ceremony, in which the national identity of the country is
unveiled.
The Olympic Charter is a set of rules and guidelines for the Olympic Games,

life provides an avenue for the learners to grow to their full potential,
achieve self actualization and develop competencies to face the
challenges of today's world with élan.
Academic pre–eminence in today's educational scenario continues to be an
important yardstick though no longer the only one, of the school's
superlative performance.
Our learners know it well that excellence is not achieved by accident. Thus,
they persevere towards their goals with the vision encapsulated in these
words:
Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a

Kony 2012 Thesis
In March 2012, Kony 2012, a social media campaign about Joseph Kony and the Lord's Resistance
Army went viral. Thanks to a now flat world the YouTube video became an overnight sensation. If
you, like me did not know who Joseph Kony was before watching Kony 2012, then I am sure you
will never forget who he is after watching Kony 2012. Kony 2012 is part of the Invisible Children
campaign to bring Joseph Kony to justice. Invisible Children was founded by Jason Russell the
narrator of Kony 2012. The Invisible Children used Kony 2012 to show the atrocities that Joseph
Kony did to the Ugandan's. Kony kidnapped children, turned them into child soldiers, he also raped
and murdered many. Kony 2012 was meant to get attention and it was an effective. ... Show more

In fact Kony 2012 targets a very specific group of people that group is the youth and I would have to
say Western youth. Many critics denounced Kony 2012 because it's recurrence of familiar narrative,
that of middle class and predominately white, young American "saving Africans" from their own
self–imposed miseries (Fisher, 202). Kony 2012 set out to empower young people to do more than
just watch, it empowered them to take action. You can see this in the video as they interview young
adults they make them relatable. Although supporters where from all ages and walks of life, surveys
showed that over eighty–eight percent of supports were under the age of twenty–six (Karlin &
Matthew, 2012). Invisible children targeted the youth by touring to schools (middle school, high
school, and colleges), using popular musicians, and of course social media. Invisible children also
intentionally targeted and worked with celebrities who were appealing to the youth. Another
appealing draw to youth was the products that they used to promote Invisible Children like apparel,
bags, bracelets, stickers and "actions kits". These products enabled participants in the movement to
"wear" their involvement, which in turn strengthens their involvement (Karlin & Matthew,

Was the Security Prepared for the London 2012 Olympics?
The 2012 London Olympics were held at the Olympic Park in East London from Friday, July 27,
2012 to Sunday, August 12, 2012. The Olympics have been held in London two times before the
2012 Olympics, once in 1908 and once in 1948 (Scott). Over 10,500 athletes participated from over
204 countries, over 120,000 people were going to the Olympic Park every day to watch the
Olympics. Over 302 medal events were being held, with three swimmers being the top medalists in
the 2012 London Olympics ("Olympics"). There were a lot of people at the London Olympics, but
the questions is, was the security prepared for the amount of people showing up to the 2012 London
Olympics. The Olympics were not prepared with what was expected from the security; 10,000 ...

During the Olympics, the USA feels that they need to contribute to the security in order for
American athletes to be safe. An article written by Hopkins and Norton–Taylor in the Guardian
Newspaper mentions the plan for US Security "The US has raised repeated concerns about security
at the London Olympics and is preparing to send up to 1,000 of its agents, including 500 from the
FBI, to provide protection for America's contestants and diplomats." People were worried about the
security for the 2012 London Olympics.
When there is a huge event where over 8.8 million tickets are sold, security is a big deal; the safety
of all the people at the event matters, terrorism needs to be avoided. There were a couple terrorism
threats just weeks before the 2012 London Olympics that shocked many, it was mentioned in article,
"The threat of a terrorist attack has been in the news in recent days after seven people were arrested
in operations for terrorist activity, though none were related to the Olympics" (Riccobono). A couple
weeks before the Olympics, there was another case, where three men were arrested due to terrorism
threats at a house just a mile away from the Olympic Park where the big games were being held
(Watson). 5 days before the article by Traci Watson on USAtoday she mentioned that a man in a
neighborhood bordering the Olympic park was arrested due to terrorism threats, he had attended a
terrorist training camp with links to al–Qaeda. In the Guardian newspaper

Comparison Of London 2012 Olympic Games Vs. Moulsham High...
The two sports events I am comparing are the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Moulsham
High School sports day. Throughout this assessment I will be comparing the two different sporting
events in terms of scale, planning, promotion and delivery to see what goes into making a great
sporting event. Both these events are very different in terms of how they are run so by comparing
them I will get a very good idea on how different sporting events organisation is for different
situations.
The Olympic Games are leading international sporting events featuring summer and winter sports
competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of

It also has helped to inspire lots of young athletes and helped to get a lot of different people involved
in physical activity. The funding towards Team GB is also good, as the team is getting great
facilities and athletes involved with the system are getting the best care and coaching to help
improve them and help reach their goals. However the negative to the Olympic structure, is that not
all the teams and countries participating are treated equally. This is most likely because they are a
smaller country and a poorer country which means they do not have the same amount of money as
bigger countries have to help improve their athletes and improve their facilities. This means that the
medal table will keep looking similar each year as the bigger countries with the most money, will
usually have more medals as their athletes are better trained and better prepared. At the moment the
medal table is just being weighted to reflect population and

Kony 2012
When I was a senior in high school, I participated in the Kony 2012 and Invisible Children social
movement that focused on highlighting and identifying the controversies happening in Africa as a
result of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and their leader Joseph Kony. While I had no prior
knowledge to what the charity, Invisible Children, stood for, it was not until the popular video Kony
2012 released on YouTube that I wanted to be actively involved in the campaign. The Kony 2012
movement had identifiable leaders who were the creators of the viral video, which included Jason
Russell. At the same time, the movement included the Invisible Children organization, which
Russell is a founder of, which the video came as a result of. The movement was not established by a

During the heightened popularity of the initial Kony 2012 video that was what many people were
talking about and it even cause several politicians to rethink strategies in Africa and motivated them
enough to pass a resolution to send troops near the lines of the LRA. It was successful in its initial
goal for awareness, but it was highly criticized for creating inaccurate depictions of what was going
on in Africa as well. The movement gained support from the US government and as a result became
a part of the social norm during that year in activism, but would be forgotten by a majority of the
public in the next year. Besides this brief resolution, the movement did not encourage many to join
the cause of Invisible Children and resulted in many forgetting their support and the movement
entirely. Russell's controversy tainted the image of the Kony movement, which may have impacted
the "Cover the Night" event. Kony 2012 is a success because it asked people to go to action, but it

Essay on London 2012 Olympics and Risk Management
Comparisons
As stated before, the Olympic Games have become a mega event in size and complexity compared
to what it was in its beginning during Athens 1896 Olympics, when only 241 amateur athletes
competed in mini sports. Therefore, the number of risks that can take place during the even has
increased significantly including aspects such as infrastructure, finance, operations, security and
including natural hazards as well as manmade hazards.
The London Olympics 2012 (OSSSRA) has considerate different types of manmade hazard such
attacks on crowded places, attacks to the transport system and other terrorists attacks that may occur
during the event. As London has experience different terrorist attacks in the past such as the

A Similar issue was found in the London Olympics where an increase of £25 million was attributed
to the design of the velodome, after finding out the complex foundation and ground conditions. The
changes to the design of the stadium roof also increased costs for the main stadium for London
2012. Other issue was the unexpected fluctuations such as the increase in steel prices (Jennings,
2012).
London 2012 as well as the other Olympics games experienced an overrun of its budget. However,
London Olympics' risks management helped to reduce costs and save approximately £470 million
through the release of risks (ODA, 2011).
The success of an organisation's risks management can be determined by how well the organisation
is able to distinguish risks, as there can be risks that cannot be foreseen and others which can be
avoided through planning. Looking at what happened during the Atlanta 1996 Olympics when
operational and logistic problems cause journalist to start reporting on "the glitch games", it can be
said that some risks are originated by poor decision making and misjudgements in planning
assumptions (Jennings, 2012). In the past Olympic organisers mainly focused on reaction to a risk
and ways to recover from it by developing safety plans, now organisers consider risks mitigation as
a crucial aspect for the Olympic Games. This is the case for the London 2102 Olympics where
military rehearsals were staged on the River

Has Hosting the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games Been Successful in Fulfilling The

London was placed on the shortlist for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics host city back in May
2004. The International Olympics Committee (IOC) eventually announced that London had been
successful in July 2005 following a large campaign backing the bid. The bid for the games was led
by London 2012; 'a multi–agency stakeholder group, setting the vision and strategic direction for the

So therefore where the media exposes the benefits of hosting the games such as increased
investment and development, this all has to be funded through public accounts which requires
reduced benefits elsewhere, or cuts in household disposable income levels.
The sporting legacy of the 2012 Olympics was always at the forefront of government attention. The
bid for the games featured the slogan 'Inspire a Generation" with the reason behind the slogan being
to trigger involvement of young people in sports and taking up new activities (Magnay 2012). There
are two programmes introduced to encourage community sports; 'Places People Play' and a 'Join in'
program.
'Places People Play' is a joint partnership initiative between Sport England and the British Olympic
Association with the aim of "making the benefits of London 2012 visible in cities, towns and
villages across the country" (SportEngland.org 2012). The goals involve the protection and
improvement of hundreds of playing fields across the country, modernising and extending club
facilities and 'Sports Makers' training, "providing free business skills, training and support to those
doing the day–to–day running of community sports" (Sports England 2012).

responses on the short answer lines provided would be used other than that which only an option
was chosen. The researcher will focus on the female single parent between the ages of 18–29.
PRESENTATION OF DATA The researcher found that teenagers between the ages of 18 and 21,
contributes significantly to the number of single parent families in the community. Of the 20 single
parents interviewed, 3 were between the ages 21 and 24, 2 were of the age group 24–29. These
teenagers have no guidance, as they too are from a single parenting family. They become idle and
not goal–orientated and as a result ends up pregnant and left in a single parenting position. Chart

The 2012 London Olympic Games
Introduction
The 2012 London Olympic Games, lasting from 25 July to 12 August 2012, was one of the largest
events ever hosted in the UK. During this world–wide sport event, 4 billion people watched the
opening ceremonies on television; more than 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries participated;
20 million people visited the city; and approximately $14 billion were generated (Kubo, 2014).
For London and UK, hosting this mega–sport event provide them a great opportunity to boom the
tourism industry to stimulate local economy when facing the global economic recession, especially
in Europe. Although London didn't outline specific tourism objective for the Games in its bidding
documentation, London clearly stated its tourism objectives ... Show more content on

Also, DCMS built on Our Promise for 2012, in which the fifth promise was to demonstrate the UK
is a creative, inclusive and welcoming place to live in, visit and for business. To achieve this
promise, DCMS stated the plan that make the most of the long–term tourism benefits that the Games
will bring nationwide (Our promise for 2012, 2015). As the nature of international tourism is
exported service and goods, which has a significant proportion of economic outcome in tourism
industry, this paper is aimed to analyse the impact of 2012 London Olympic Games on the inbound
tourism in London and the UK. The impacts of the 2012 London Olympic Games on inbound
tourism can cover a wide range of aspects, including service improvement, infrastructure
improvement, star–hotel increase, tourist flows and so on; nevertheless, this paper will only focus on
two aspects: overseas visitor arrivals and spending and destination image improvement.
Literature Review
After the 1984 Los Angeles Games showed for the first time that mega–events could produce an
economic surplus, mega–sport events, particularly the Olympic Games, acquired central status for
city and national government development agendas (Andranovich, Burbank and Heying, 2001). And

Risk Management at the Llondon 2012 Olympics Essays
Introduction and Background
Introduction
The objective of this paper is to define and analyse what risks management was carried out during
the London Olympic Games, aspects of risk management such as how risks were identified, the type
of risk analysis that was carried out, the risk responses opted in order to minimise threats, and how
risks were monitored and controlled will be analysed further. After obtaining this information, a
comparison with other Olympic Games will be analysed in order to learn what they did right, wrong,
and how they managed risks. The comparison will be made to support recommendations on how
The London Olympic games could have managed risks more effectively.

Knowledge area
Risk management
Risk management is used in a project in order to identify potential risks that can somehow affect its
objectives. Risks can occur at any time and at any stage during the project, and they may be
associated with a particular task, person or it can also be from an element outside the project. Any
risks that occur at a very late stage in the project are more likely to have a bigger impact than those
that occur at the beginning, because valuable work that has already been done can be loss or
damage. Risk management is also important in large projects as it can help to minimised the impact
of a risk or totally avoid it, it also can determined what are the actions to take in order to reduce the
impact of a particular risk (Lock, 2007, p.99).
Processes
1. Plan Risk Management
In Plan risk process, the main objective is to define how to carry out all risk management activities.
This process is very important as of it depends the success of the other five processes, thus it has to
be a carful and precise planning. "Planning risk management is important to ensure that the degree,

The purpose of the Leadership at McDonald's Program (LAMP) is to accelerate the development of
high potential leaders in a way that drives results, shapes organizational culture and builds
leadership depth. The program is used to guide leadership development is based upon three
leadership challenges: leading oneself, leading high performance teams and leading the
organization. The goal of this program element is to expose participants to thinking of individuals
outside the McDonald's system in order to broaden their thinking and exposure beyond the "Golden
Arches." Increasing the ability of participants to improve business results in their current roles as
well as prepare them for achieving success at the next level (Similar to the "action learning"
component of the Leadership Development Experience (LDE) that was so well received, LAMP
gives participants the opportunity to work in small groups to identify significant business
improvement opportunities and develop specific actionable recommendations to be presented to
executive management. In LAMP, participants are also expected to develop their improvement
recommendations by scanning the external environment and using ideas from sources outside of
McDonald's to encourage innovation)

Quinoa intake on South America
Quinoa (Chenopodium Quinoa) despite being one of the oldest crops in the area it was just recently
domesticated, only about three to four thousand years ago in the Andean region (Ofstehage 2010).
This region includes areas like Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia. What all these areas have in
common is their dry soil which Quinoa is usually found to grow in (Ofstehage 2010). The plant is
widely known for its positive nutritional value, mainly its high protein which is hard to find in most
plants. Sadly it contains saponins which messes with cell membranes in the small intestine. These
saponins are only found in raw seeds but when processed correctly they get taken ... Show more

That is also a jump from 8 million dollars on exports to 63 million, which is highly affecting the
economy. With the U.S importing 48% of that, we are importing 9600 metric tons of quinoa and
about 30 million dollars (Effel 2012). The standard price of a kilogram of quinoa is about 8 cents.
During times when demand is higher it can get up to 28–32 cents per kilogram (Hellin & Higman
2003). With all this extra income the farmers themselves can now improve themselves. They can by
different food, fix their house or just buy a new one, and buy even more land to grow on, possibly
start their own business. They can also afford more luxuries, and also help their kids get a better
education (Ofstehage 2012). With all these upgrades they can live a healthier life. Like with the
food, they can now get a greater variation in the food they eat improving their overall diet and
health, especially for the farmers that were very poor before the boom (Ofstehage 2012). Occording
to Damiana Astudillo and Genaro Aroni who did fieldwork in Bolivia and talked to the farmers their
say, it was a "Cinderella Plant" because it just made everything better (Astudillo & Aroni 2012).
Although the people and the economy overall are making money there are some disadvantages to
the huge cultivation of quinoa. One of the problems is the overall land is weakening. Farmers are
buying more land and in order to keep up with the

strategy implementation. There will be an analysis of how effectively the company implemented its
turnaround strategy and how effectively Starbucks utilized human capital to implement its strategy.
In conclusion of this paper, there will be recommendations for effectiveness in future
implementations at Starbucks. Implementation of Starbuck's Turnaround Strategy The return of
Schultz saw him focus on three different themes; strengthen the core, elevate the experience and
lastly, invest and grow. The implementation included various strategies which involved; slowing the
pace of opening new stores, closing underperforming stores, restructuring the company's store
operations in Australia, creating new designs for future Starbucks stores globally, enhancing the
customer experience, providing additional resources and tools for employees, undertaking a rigorous
cost–containment program, and renewing attention to employee training and reigniting enthusiasm
on the part of employees to customer. The case tells us that 800 underperforming stores in the
United States and 100 additional stores in other countries were closed. The company even trimmed
its workforce by about 6,700 employees. From further analysis it was clear to see that Schultz's
investment in growth played a huge part in the turnaround. The company implemented this

2012 Presidential Elections
The results of both the 2004 and 2012 Presidential elections were the same as both incumbents were
able to capitalize on the voters being comfortable with them. Additional, since both incumbents had
access to national assets, four years of on the job training, and "insider information" they were able
to speak in–depth on a wide range of issues both foreign and domestic. In 2004, the largest and most
important issue to the nation was the war in Iraqi and in 2012 it was the nation's economy. Given the
incumbents access to firsthand information on the issues at large, they were able to weaken their
opponents in the nation's eyes by dismantling the candidate's strategies on the issues. History has
shown that nations trend to focus more on domestic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Campaign Strategies used by the incumbents in both the 2004 and 2012 presidential elections were
direct and aggressive, using media outlets to launch phased targeting to discredit candidates by
highlighting indecisiveness and lacking of understand on controversial issues. In both elections the
candidates that successful used the media were able to garnered support from nation as they were
able to stay steps ahead of their opponents, forcing them to constantly defend themselves and
legalize their campaigns. For example, President Obama used ads to undermine Mitt Romney's time
running the investment firm Bain Capital (strength of Romney's campaign) against him, stating that
because of Mitt Romney's time at Bain he would be unable to relate to average. This forced Romney
to alter his campaign strategy as more Americans began to question Romney stance on multiple
issues, especially taxes, during an election in which the primary issue was the nation's economy.
Similar strategies were utilized in the 2004 and 2012 elections, giving the incumbents a huge
advantage from day one. When you combine the election results and campaign strategy with the
voter turnout with only a 2–5 percent difference in voting age population turnout, it is clear why
both elections resulted in the incumbent being reelected. I believe that the nation applied the old
saying, "if it is not broke, then don't fix it" during both the 2004 and 2012 presidential

political documentary intended to persuade bystander viewers to hold certain beliefs about Kony, a

After WWII "political avant–garde" films flourished. These social documentaries challenged
political institutions that oppressed the many for the benefit of the few and called for political
change taking up causes from feminist movement to Civil rights (Benson 8). This call to action is
what Grierson thought documentary films were missing.
At the end of the war, the development of lightweight–synchronous–sound equipment technology
allowed unique behind the scene views of political events creating cinema verité movements from
50's to the 70's. Additionally, long–form social documentaries gained popularity on public television
in the United States. Series such as Frontline (1883–present) revealed the public façade politicians
were presenting the American people by creating a national dialogue about the war on terror, public
institutions, political ties to big oil by showing the backstage political action which took place
(Benson 8).
Technological advances are what define the new political documentary because it allows filmmakers
to break away from constraints of traditional mass media, which often limits the rhetoric of political
documentaries. New technology enabled quality films to be made on lower budgets that are "good
enough and interest sufficiently intense that the films were shown in theater and television which
provided legitimacy and visibility before quickly being released on DVD and VHS," (Benson

Impact Of 2012 Olympics On Hospitality Essay
2012 Olympics and its impact on the hospitality industry of London.

Paralympics Games. The games is often labelled as the "greatest show on earth" which involves
thousands of sports persons both men and women from around the globe aiming to reach the
ultimate in sporting achievement. The Olympic Games will take place entirely in London, but the

Athens 2004 would have benefited from its investment in urban regeneration and transport
infrastructure. Before the Games Sydney 2000 was a great city to visit and now is better again after
its Olympic experience. Atlanta 1996 was located within 2 hours flying time from major US cities. It
was a major domestic convention hub before the Games with comparatively few international
visitors. But as inbound statistics reflect, Atlanta is still a major domestic convention hub with no
hard evidence of an Olympics afterglow in the inbound market.
Barcelona 1992 achieved incredible tourism–image transformation but the hotel market in the post–
Olympic era was badly over–supplied for several years. Whereas Seoul 1988 opened its inbound
tourism industry. The city added several hotels and infrastructure investment which dramatically
improved the tourism appeal and till now Seoul remains a strong hotel market. As seen here
Barcelona and Seoul were the two most successful cities in creating additional inbound traffic. But
the point to note was that both these cities had low–profile tourism at the time of hosting the games
and so they had much to gain from the hosting of the games.
When we refer to the term Hospitality we normally refer to the relationship between a guest and a
host.

Humanity In Post Apocalyptic Films
During the 2000's, the word apocalypse petrified and frightened humanity around the world
knowing that the world will soon come to an end. Post–Apocalyptic films illustrated the importance
of catastrophic events as the films worked their way up into popular media during the 2000's and
how the world itself changed creating diverse conspiracies and predictions on how and when our
planet will come to an end, which frightened humanity. The 2000's are when post–apocalyptic films
began to explode in popularity. Due to environmental and social trends which became popular
during that time period, these movies showed the importance that humanity will survive no matter
what apocalypse may come. The major focus of these films is to show and give humanity ... Show

Technology has failed to save the world during a failed climate–change, but has saved the remnants
of life who are carried on an ever running, nuclear–powered, mile–long train called the Snowpiercer.
The train travels around the globe on a 24 000–mile circuit covering earth's frozen continents where
a class system emerges. The movie was used to signify to the viewers that mankind will do whatever
it takes to survive and ensure the safety of their loved ones. During the 2000's, humanity was
frightened to know that the world will soon come to an end. Films such as the Snowpiercer gave the
audience courage and the will power to not lose hope in times like this. However, a sense of heroism
is needed as well as a sacrifice for the well–being of the world. Showing that Curtis as a leader who
faces many struggles to reach his goal and give his people equal treatment influences the audience
watching the movie be just as heroic as he is and combat alongside many others who also want to be
heroes. The film aptly sums the act of heroism when Curtis stands up for his people and leads them
to the front of the train to get justice. Curtis figures out a plan to find Namgoong Minsu who
designed the doors of the train. He figures out that the guards have no bullets in their guns and that
leads him to fight his way through each door to free Namgoong and his daughter from the cell.
Curtis portrayed many heroic acts which persuade the viewers of the film to do the same and be a
leader during harsh times in an apocalyptic situation. Sacrifice is also needed while managing to
survive in apocalyptic situations. In apocalyptic situations, sacrifice is needed to protect one's family
or their loved ones. Sacrifice is shown in Snowpiercer when Edgar is shot in the head, allowing
Curtis to capture Mason which will lead the group to the front of the engine. This emphasizes

Media Campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day 2012
Media campaign for World Suicide Prevention Day 2012
Organization Profile The organization asking for assistance with its campaign is a small mental
health nonprofit in Singapore. The company operates facilities that provide services to the mentally
ill such as counseling, hospital–alternative programs, case management, housing assistance, and
community outreach. The community outreach branch has been participating in the World Suicide
Prevention Day campaigns since they were first organized, but there has been very little
participation by the community, or even similar agencies, in this effort. The company has a
particular stake in this effort as the mentally ill population in the region is almost three times more
likely to commit suicide than an individual who does not claim mental health problems (SingHealth,
2012).
Relevant Issues Singapore has its own committee that conducts a local suicide prevention day in
March of select years (SingHealth, 2012), so assistance from the county is unlikely other than verbal
support. The company does not have a large budget to support the effort and will have to conduct a
fund raising drive prior to beginning the campaign to endure that enough funds can be dedicated to
the effort. It is possible though that the country will provide some money via a grant. The day itself
has not been well–publicized in the media in the years preceding this one. This presents an issue in
that people do not want to think about the problem and are

However, its legal name is "Second Rotation" but customers see it as "gazelle" which was chosen
for branding and operational purpose by Gannet, Aurelien McElhiney the co founders of Second
rotation. How did gazelle attain sustainable competitive advantage? The secret of Gazelle for
attaining the sustainable competitive advantage (a competitive advantage that is difficult for
competitors to imitate) lies in wisely considering the business opportunities at the right time. The co
founders observed different practices made by the people i.e. they did not try to recycle or sell their
electronic devices. Rather they would just leave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This provides Gazelle an opportunity to grow. Intermediation: Ganot is currently thinking to switch
the gazelle as an intermediary between sellers and buyer's .This would get larger profits with
minimum liabilities for gazelle. Social trends: Social trends keep changing but world has now
started thinking about the environment critically. They do not waste the product. They either sell it
or recycle it. This is an opportunity for Gazelle to make growth. Threats: With all the opportunities,
available Gazelle indeed is threatened by external environment. Its rivals including eBay and others
are a constant source of threat. Major threats include threat of imitation and the bargaining powers
of sellers and buyers. Porter's five forces model explains it at best. Internal Analysis: VRIO and
gazelle: VRIO stand for valuable, rare, inimitable and organized respectively. While analyzing a
company it kept in view to discuss VRIO. Gazelle has been offering valuable, rare, inimitable and
organized goods at the same time, which led it to acquire sustainable competitive advantage. (See
appendices) Economies of scale and scope: A company reaches economies of scale when cost
incurred for the products gets lesser as the quantity of the goods increases. Economies of scope are
related to acquiring lower costs when offering or producing a couple of products together. Gazelle in
this regard attained both while selling and buying a large number and variety

A Report On The Foreclosure Crisis
April 11, 2013 – Letter to Farmer from Grenier, informing Farmer that he intends to foreclose by
sale on or after May 15, 2013.
April 25, 2013 – Grenier sends back checks for pre–paid interest provided on December 7, 2012, to
Farmer's attorney Martin Arsenault.
May 8, 2013 – Check for HUD correction sent to Marston.
June 25, 2013 – E–mail between Arsenault and Grenier regarding Farmer applying for a loan.
Arsenault requests that Grenier "forebear in scheduling" the foreclosure. E–mail from Marston to
Grenier, states that during a meeting in May of 2013, Grenier was informed that the only option
other than foreclosure auction, "was a deed in lieu of foreclosure." States he was never given
permission to negotiate any other resolution.
According to Grenier, the Tolman's sought other counsel to conclude the transaction with Farmer,
and "public record reveals that Frank W. Tolman Sr. signed a discharge of mortgage on September
20, 2013 indicating payment in full of the mortgage at that time."
RESPONDENT'S ANSWER
In response to Tolman Sr's allegations Grenier claims "there was no withholding information from
Mr. Tolman and that all information concerning the transaction was communicated to him or his son
who was acting as his power of attorney at the time of transaction." He goes on to explain that the
property had many issues and the Tolman's were unwilling to spend the "money to correct or

Should The London 2012 Olympics Become Successful?
Introduction
Winning the bid for the 2012 Olympic Games by London city has brought the hope for regeneration
of the entire Lea Valley in East London which can bring about the biggest urban development
witnessed by Europe in the past 150 years (Coatler F 2004). In the year 2003 City of London was
bestowed with the honour of being the host for 2012 Olympic Games. It's easy to win the bid for
hosting such a massive sporting event however the planning and development which is needed for
successful execution of the games takes a lot of hard work and effort. The execution and planning
involved behind the stage is a good measure of the host country's capability and is put forward in
front of the whole world to judge (Morgan, M. 2008). The London Olympics were successful
primarily because of the flawless collaboration between the International Olympic committee and
London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games (LOCOG) with its numerous
partners and stakeholders. (Tramantano E , Bishop J , Jones G , Miller A).This even showcased the

How To Avoid During The London 2012 Olympics
One of the most significant introductions to technology in sport over recent years was during the
London 2012 Olympics last Summer. The Olympics is the worlds largest sporting event and requires
state of the art technology to ensure that accurate readings are taken in each event and all athletes
are provided with the ability to perform at their very best. The best example of this is probably in the
London 2012 athletics track which uses cutting edge technology designed by Monodo, an Italian
company. The surface of this track contains rubber granules with cushion backing allowing for
shock absorption when athletes run across it. The athletes are given spiked shoes for running in
which use this shock absorption to penetrate the running surface

Kony 2012 Video Analysis
Back in 2012, an online video about crimes most Americans hadn't heard of, committed by a man
they didn't know, in a country few could place on a map, became the world's biggest viral sensation.
The "Kony 2012" video, produced by the California–based organization Invisible Children, aimed to
raise awareness about Joseph Kony, a warlord who had led the Lord's Resistance Army, an
extremely violent militant movement known for its use of child soldiers in Uganda and central
African states. The video's message was simple: the world needed to come together to "stop Kony."
It made a splash. That video currently has more than 100 million views on YouTube, and Invisible
Children raised $28 million in 2012, which it used to significantly expand its

Benefits to the Uk of Hosting the Olympic Games in 2012
The 6th of July marked a very important achievement for the city of London. The IOC (International
Olympic Committee) awarded the city of London the right to stage the 2012 summer Olympics after
fighting off fierce competition (Adam, 2005). The bid for the games has always had loud political
undertones that were obvious during the bidding process. Some of the arguments raised included the
benefits and negative effects hosting the games could bring. This paper examines the economic
benefits and costs of hosting the Olympics. The net benefits are found to be positive and large
relative to the investment in the bidding process.
Hosting the 2012 Olympics will be a massive economic boost for the United Kingdom. Currently,
the funding of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ODA is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Greater London Authority
(£925 million), the London Development Agency (£470 million), and the Olympic Lottery
Distributor (£2.2billion).
The funding from the various public sectors above contributes towards the construction of the
venues and infrastructure in the Olympic park. For example, facilities are being built at Weymouth
and Portland, Broxbourne and Eton Dorney and also the legacy that will follow after the games.
(London 2012, 2005)
The hosting and staging of the Olympic games in London would result in a drastic change in the
physical activities of the nation, contributing to the government 's wants in order to modify
participation in sports and physical activities. Hosting the Olympic Games in London can add to the
governments' wider social and health agenda. It is also believed that it will contribute to the
extremely ambitious target of 70percent of the population attempting 5x30 minutes of moderate
activity per week by 2020 as outlined in the Game Plan (DCMS/Strategy Unit, 2002)
Another economic benefit of the London 2012 Olympics is the aspect of sport tourism. According to
Weed and Bull (2004), the notion behind sport tourism is "........ As derived from the unique
interaction of activity people and place" This tells us about the tourism potential of the London 2012
Olympic Games. It is believed that sport is an important tourism phenomenon (Collins and

The Effects Of Media On Our Society
In our society, media is constantly being used not only to communicate but also to learn about what
is going around the world. The web gives the chance to share news and even lets people talk to one
another. The internet spreads information and ideas quickly and reaches out too many people. Much
of what our society sees and reads often come from sources provided by the internet. Based on these
sources, knowledge is gained, wither it is real or fake. Constantly seeing media gives our society the
idea that it is real. Videos, music, and photos are a way of spreading ideas clearly to more people.
Due to this, ideas such as the end of the world sparks conversations and creates theories.
Theories are a trend of ideas, that explains something, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doomsday media spreads quickly giving dates on the suspected day and tips on how to be prepared.
With many theories to research, an older theory known as the Great Flood is a controversy that also
spread panic. Johannes Stoffler, a germen astrologer issued a world–ending flood. This flood was set
to occur on February 25, 1524. On this day, all planets would be under the same water sign Pieces.
Creating a flood that was set to destroy our world, "Hundreds of pamphlets announcing the coming
flood were issued and set in motion a general panic" (Cole). With Stoffler's statements and highly
respected research, the event seemed as if it was in fact the end. As time passed and theories did not
occur, the fear and predictions remain. Harold Camping predicted the end of the world would
happen on May 21, 2011. 7000 years prior to this date was when the Biblical Flood was said to
occur. As the date approached, Camping announced his math was incorrect and declared October 21,
2011, to be the official date for doomsday. As the internet grew more popular, research was being
brought to attention and even movies have been created to document the events that will occur on
this day known as doomsday. A huge theory that occurred recently is the "2012 Maya Apocalypse"
The Mayan long calendar dates to 3114 BC and is extremely accurate. Ending with the winter
solstice on December 21, 2012, it marks the end of the cycle. After the winter solstice on December
21st, no other future date was

Risk Management Of London 2012 Olympics

  • 1. Risk Management of London 2012 Olympics 1.0 INTRODUCTION Olympics are mega–global event that attracts the attention worldwide with billions of audience watching on television, while millions flock to events as spectators. The media embraces the opportunity of covering every inch of the games. This kind of interest is what organisers face with no room for error in relation to external attacks or system failures of the event although risks are bound to occur to any project or program as in the case of Olympics. These risks may occur with a positive impact to the organisers though they dread to have negative risks, which causes ripple effect to the project. As expected, experience is the best teacher to put things right the second time round. This applies to Olympic organisers who strive to avoid risks as early as possible and to assure athletes plus spectators and the public that steps have been taken to prevent risks. This can be in terms of tangible evidence and intangible evidence. (Jennings, 2012) Tangible evidence may relate to issues like the construction of Olympic village where all athletes converge during the period of Olympic Games or the presence of security personnel to reassure the nation and the public as illustrated in the diagram below. Figure 2: The Olympics soldiers. Source: AFP Photo/Leon Neal Intangible evidence relates to laws as highlighted in the next pages or verbal correspondences through which organisers use to reassure the nation, spectators, athletes and the entire world by use of radio programmes, television programmes, newspapers etc. 2.0 LONDON 2012 –RISK MANAGEMENT In late 2005, Olympic host city was internationally known to be London for 2012 Games. Unfortunately, it is the same period when terrorist activities wreaked havoc in London. (Nugent et al. 2011) Perhaps, this was a wakeup call for the government to revise and tighten on all issues that would lead to risk loophole. The UK government developed a strategy in four modules to embrace and mitigate the risks associated with hosting mega events, Olympics in this

In 2004, George W Bush defeated John Kerry with 62,028,719 votes, which was essentially 50.8 percent of the ballots cast. In 2004 the issue that was of most concern for Americans was terrorism. Furthermore, the attacks on September 11th 2001 served in bringing the country together to help secure the win for Bush. The polling data shows that 52 percent of the people believed that Bush would do a better job dealing with terrorism and homeland security, versus 29 percent for Kerry. Voters seemed to prefer Bush in dealing with problems in Iraq, 50 to 37 and furthermore, on moral issues, by 47 to 29. Kerry was ahead 48 to 32 on jobs and unemployment and by a fairly wide margin of 51 to 28 on health care. When comparing how people voted, Kerry had the majority of ... In the years leading up to the 2012 presidential elections, there seemed to be a lot of people that were moving away from their traditional party lines and changing sides. It would seem that Mitt Romney's career as a wealthy businessman would become harmful in the same ways that the "swift boat" attacks on Kerry were harmful in 2004. During John Kerry's running for the presidency in 2004, his Vietnam "record" came under scrutiny in so much as to discredit his wartime service. In 2012, the Obama campaign used the same type of strategy to show a disconnect between Romney and the American people. The number of eligible voters that actually voted dropped between the 2008 and 2012 elections by nearly 3.5%. Some believe this to be typical in a second term presidential election. ushistory.org states "Since many Americans are pleased with economic progress, they may feel reluctant to make a change, so they stay at home on Election Day". • 10. 2012 Election Analysis The 2012 election was a difficult challenge between Democratic Incumbent Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney. Romney came from a famous political family, but would it be enough to win the election? Obama's first term in 2008–2012 would ultimately decide the outcome of his second term. The two candidates both had a prior reputation that would make or break the election. In fact Kony 2012 targets a very specific group of people that group is the youth and I would have to say Western youth. Many critics denounced Kony 2012 because it's recurrence of familiar narrative, that of middle class and predominately white, young American "saving Africans" from their own self–imposed miseries (Fisher, 202). Kony 2012 set out to empower young people to do more than just watch, it empowered them to take action. You can see this in the video as they interview young adults they make them relatable. Although supporters where from all ages and walks of life, surveys showed that over eighty–eight percent of supports were under the age of twenty–six (Karlin & Matthew, 2012). Invisible children targeted the youth by touring to schools (middle school, high school, and colleges), using popular musicians, and of course social media. Invisible children also intentionally targeted and worked with celebrities who were appealing to the youth. Another appealing draw to youth was the products that they used to promote Invisible Children like apparel, bags, bracelets, stickers and "actions kits". Over 10,500 athletes participated from over 204 countries, over 120,000 people were going to the Olympic Park every day to watch the Olympics. People were worried about the security for the 2012 London Olympics. When there is a huge event where over 8.8 million tickets are sold, security is a big deal; the safety of all the people at the event matters, terrorism needs to be avoided. There were a couple terrorism threats just weeks before the 2012 London Olympics that shocked many, it was mentioned in article, "The threat of a terrorist attack has been in the news in recent days after seven people were arrested in operations for terrorist activity, though none were related to the Olympics" (Riccobono). A couple weeks before the Olympics, there was another case, where three men were arrested due to terrorism threats at a house just a mile away from the Olympic Park where the big games were being held (Watson). 5 days before the article by Traci Watson on USAtoday she mentioned that a man in a neighborhood bordering the Olympic park was arrested due to terrorism threats, he had attended a terrorist training camp with links to al–Qaeda. However the negative to the Olympic structure, is that not all the teams and countries participating are treated equally. This is most likely because they are a smaller country and a poorer country which means they do not have the same amount of money as bigger countries have to help improve their athletes and improve their facilities. This means that the medal table will keep looking similar each year as the bigger countries with the most money, will usually have more medals as their athletes are better trained and better prepared. Therefore, the number of risks that can take place during the even has increased significantly including aspects such as infrastructure, finance, operations, security and including natural hazards as well as manmade hazards. A Similar issue was found in the London Olympics where an increase of £25 million was attributed to the design of the velodome, after finding out the complex foundation and ground conditions. The changes to the design of the stadium roof also increased costs for the main stadium for London 2012. Other issue was the unexpected fluctuations such as the increase in steel prices (Jennings, 2012). London 2012 as well as the other Olympics games experienced an overrun of its budget. However, London Olympics' risks management helped to reduce costs and save approximately £470 million through the release of risks (ODA, 2011). The success of an organisation's risks management can be determined by how well the organisation is able to distinguish risks, as there can be risks that cannot be foreseen and others which can be avoided through planning. Looking at what happened during the Atlanta 1996 Olympics when operational and logistic problems cause journalist to start reporting on "the glitch games", it can be said that some risks are originated by poor decision making and misjudgements in planning assumptions (Jennings, 2012). In the past Olympic organisers mainly focused on reaction to a risk and ways to recover from it by developing safety plans, now organisers consider risks mitigation as a crucial aspect for the Olympic Games. They can by different food, fix their house or just buy a new one, and buy even more land to grow on, possibly start their own business. They can also afford more luxuries, and also help their kids get a better education (Ofstehage 2012). With all these upgrades they can live a healthier life. Like with the food, they can now get a greater variation in the food they eat improving their overall diet and health, especially for the farmers that were very poor before the boom (Ofstehage 2012). Occording to Damiana Astudillo and Genaro Aroni who did fieldwork in Bolivia and talked to the farmers their say, it was a "Cinderella Plant" because it just made everything better (Astudillo & Aroni 2012). Additional, since both incumbents had access to national assets, four years of on the job training, and "insider information" they were able to speak in–depth on a wide range of issues both foreign and domestic. In 2004, the largest and most important issue to the nation was the war in Iraqi and in 2012 it was the nation's economy. Campaign Strategies used by the incumbents in both the 2004 and 2012 presidential elections were direct and aggressive, using media outlets to launch phased targeting to discredit candidates by highlighting indecisiveness and lacking of understand on controversial issues. In both elections the candidates that successful used the media were able to garnered support from nation as they were able to stay steps ahead of their opponents, forcing them to constantly defend themselves and legalize their campaigns. For example, President Obama used ads to undermine Mitt Romney's time running the investment firm Bain Capital (strength of Romney's campaign) against him, stating that because of Mitt Romney's time at Bain he would be unable to relate to average. This forced Romney to alter his campaign strategy as more Americans began to question Romney stance on multiple issues, especially taxes, during an election in which the primary issue was the nation's economy. Similar strategies were utilized in the 2004 and 2012 elections, giving the incumbents a huge advantage from day one. When you combine the election results and campaign strategy with the voter turnout with only a 2–5 percent difference in voting age population turnout, it is clear why both elections resulted in the incumbent being reelected. The campaign was a 30–minute video made by filmmaker and Invisible Children co– founder Jason Russell can be considered a political documentary by traditional standards. The political documentary intended to persuade bystander viewers to hold certain beliefs about Kony, a leader of the rebel militia group the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After WWII "political avant–garde" films flourished. These social documentaries challenged political institutions that oppressed the many for the benefit of the few and called for political change taking up causes from feminist movement to Civil rights (Benson 8). This call to action is what Grierson thought documentary films were missing. At the end of the war, the development of lightweight–synchronous–sound equipment technology allowed unique behind the scene views of political events creating cinema verité movements from 50's to the 70's. Additionally, long–form social documentaries gained popularity on public television in the United States. Series such as Frontline (1883–present) revealed the public façade politicians were presenting the American people by creating a national dialogue about the war on terror, public institutions, political ties to big oil by showing the backstage political action which took place (Benson 8). Technological advances are what define the new political documentary because it allows filmmakers to break away from constraints of traditional mass media, which often limits the rhetoric of political documentaries. New technology enabled quality films to be made on lower budgets that are "good enough and interest sufficiently intense that the films were shown in theater and television which provided legitimacy and visibility before quickly being released on DVD and VHS," (Benson ... It was a major domestic convention hub before the Games with comparatively few international visitors. But as inbound statistics reflect, Atlanta is still a major domestic convention hub with no hard evidence of an Olympics afterglow in the inbound market. Barcelona 1992 achieved incredible tourism–image transformation but the hotel market in the post– Olympic era was badly over–supplied for several years. Whereas Seoul 1988 opened its inbound tourism industry. The city added several hotels and infrastructure investment which dramatically improved the tourism appeal and till now Seoul remains a strong hotel market. As seen here Barcelona and Seoul were the two most successful cities in creating additional inbound traffic. But the point to note was that both these cities had low–profile tourism at the time of hosting the games and so they had much to gain from the hosting of the games. Post–Apocalyptic films illustrated the importance of catastrophic events as the films worked their way up into popular media during the 2000's and how the world itself changed creating diverse conspiracies and predictions on how and when our planet will come to an end, which frightened humanity. The 2000's are when post–apocalyptic films began to explode in popularity. The train travels around the globe on a 24 000–mile circuit covering earth's frozen continents where a class system emerges. The movie was used to signify to the viewers that mankind will do whatever it takes to survive and ensure the safety of their loved ones. During the 2000's, humanity was frightened to know that the world will soon come to an end. Films such as the Snowpiercer gave the audience courage and the will power to not lose hope in times like this. However, a sense of heroism is needed as well as a sacrifice for the well–being of the world. Showing that Curtis as a leader who faces many struggles to reach his goal and give his people equal treatment influences the audience watching the movie be just as heroic as he is and combat alongside many others who also want to be heroes. The film aptly sums the act of heroism when Curtis stands up for his people and leads them to the front of the train to get justice. Curtis figures out a plan to find Namgoong Minsu who designed the doors of the train. He figures out that the guards have no bullets in their guns and that leads him to fight his way through each door to free Namgoong and his daughter from the cell. Curtis portrayed many heroic acts which persuade the viewers of the film to do the same and be a leader during harsh times in an apocalyptic situation. Sacrifice is also needed while managing to survive in apocalyptic situations. In apocalyptic situations, sacrifice is needed to protect one's family or their loved ones. Sacrifice is shown in Snowpiercer when Edgar is shot in the head, allowing Curtis to capture Mason which will lead the group to the front of the engine. This emphasizes Edgars courage which ... The company operates facilities that provide services to the mentally ill such as counseling, hospital–alternative programs, case management, housing assistance, and community outreach. The community outreach branch has been participating in the World Suicide Prevention Day campaigns since they were first organized, but there has been very little participation by the community, or even similar agencies, in this effort. Kony 2012 Video Analysis Back in 2012, an online video about crimes most Americans hadn't heard of, committed by a man they didn't know, in a country few could place on a map, became the world's biggest viral sensation. The "Kony 2012" video, produced by the California–based organization Invisible Children, aimed to raise awareness about Joseph Kony, a warlord who had led the Lord's Resistance Army, an extremely violent militant movement known for its use of child soldiers in Uganda and central African states. The video's message was simple: the world needed to come together to "stop Kony." It made a splash. That video currently has more than 100 million views on YouTube, and Invisible Children raised $28 million in 2012, which it used to significantly expand its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Doomsday media spreads quickly giving dates on the suspected day and tips on how to be prepared. With many theories to research, an older theory known as the Great Flood is a controversy that also spread panic. Johannes Stoffler, a germen astrologer issued a world–ending flood. This flood was set to occur on February 25, 1524. On this day, all planets would be under the same water sign Pieces. Creating a flood that was set to destroy our world, "Hundreds of pamphlets announcing the coming flood were issued and set in motion a general panic" (Cole). With Stoffler's statements and highly respected research, the event seemed as if it was in fact the end. As time passed and theories did not occur, the fear and predictions remain. Harold Camping predicted the end of the world would happen on May 21, 2011. 7000 years prior to this date was when the Biblical Flood was said to occur. As the date approached, Camping announced his math was incorrect and declared October 21, 2011, to be the official date for doomsday. As the internet grew more popular, research was being brought to attention and even movies have been created to document the events that will occur on this day known as doomsday. A huge theory that occurred recently is the "2012 Maya Apocalypse" The Mayan long calendar dates to 3114 BC and is extremely accurate. Ending with the winter solstice on December 21, 2012, it marks the end of the cycle. After the winter solstice on December 21st, no other future date was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
