Theories Of Evolution Of Psychology
Ideas in psychology have been influenced by many fields of study ranging from philosophy to physics. Evolutionary ideas, themselves, have had a
substantial role in shaping psychological thought. This paper will provide an overview of the influence of evolutionary thought on the field of
psychology along with a discussion of the range of societal implications associated with evolutionary psychology. The influence of evolutionary ideas
on psychology dates back to Charles Darwin, the man who proposed The Theory of Evolution by natural selection. Evolution theory suggests that
organisms change with time to adapt to their environments. Those organisms best capable of surviving and making adaptations to their environment

The aforementioned influences eventually lead to the field of evolutionary psychology in which the common view is that both physical and
mental organs developed through natural selection. Biases in how our brains perceive, process, and react to the world around us can either
contribute to our survival or to the reason we 'die out '. Such biases affect our social behavior and status, sexual selection, and gender relations
(Wright, 2010). Presently, evolutionary psychology has become an interest in popular culture which in turn influences the subject matter studied
in this field. It provides plausible reasons for an array of human behaviors which sparks interest. People want to know why men have aggressive
tendencies or why some will risk their lives to help those with no benefit to themselves. 'Survival of the fittest ' has become a commonly used
phrase and Charles Darwin is no secret. Evolutionary psychology raises the idea that personality and behavior are mediated by evolutionary forces.
This notion can have both positive and negative implications for society. It can provide a reason for why we love the people we love; but it can also
provide an adaptive role for violent behavior. These ideas provide a rationale for our ability to think and reason. It makes us question our motives in
certain situations like when we may act altruistically. This is reflected in society in many ways. For instance, consider the number of

Evolution Of A Evolutionary Theory
Evolution is descent with modification, a phrase Darwin used in proposing the at Earth's many species are descendants of ancestral species that
were different The power of evolution as a unifying theory is its ability to explain and connect a vast array of observations about the living world.
Aristotle believed that life forms could be arranged on a scale of increasing complexity. Each form of life, perfect and permanent, had its allotted
space. Darwin argued that classification should be based on evolutionary relationships Darwin used fossils, the remains or traces of organisms from
the past, to study and observe change over time. Paleontology is the study of these fossils Darwin said that if geologic change results from slow,
continuous actions rather than from sudden events, then the Earth must be much older than what was previously thought. Lamarck used two main
principles already accepted to prove his evolutionary theory. The first was use and disuse, the idea that parts of the body that are used extensively
become larger and stronger. The other was inheritance of acquired characteristics, which stated that an organism could pass these modifications to its
offspring. Lamarck's idea that organisms have an innate drive to become more complex was rejected by Darwin. Darwin reasoned that over a long
time, descent with modification eventually led to the rich diversity we see today. Closely related species that are very similar due to their common
ancestor, until they

The Theory Of Evolution Of Creationism
The theory of evolution is at odds with the views of many religions, and many people want to allow a religious view of creationism to be taught in
the public school system. The foundation of evolution is based upon the belief that the origin of all ordered complex systems, including living
creatures, can be explained by natural laws without the initiation or intervention of God. A person who believes in the biblical model of creation is
viewed by some non– believers as a naive, narrow–minded religious fanatic who is not willing to look at the observable evidence with an open mind.
Because the evolutionary idea of origins has been so widely accepted by the scientific community, many people have reasoned that the creation model
should be completely rejected without fairly examining its claims. Even many Christians who have deep trust and faith in the Bible have never really
understood the claims of the creation account
(McLean 11).
Over the past several years, a great deal of controversy surrounding the creation–evolution issue has been generated by scientists who have based their
claims on the creation model and have been willing to let their reputations stand. Creationists have openly requested that when the discussion of origins
occurs in the public school system, both the model of creation and evolution be presented side by side.
Initially, scientists and educators who have accepted the theory of evolution without question were reluctant to pay any serious attention to

Evolution : A Scientific Theory
According to National Center for Science Education, evolution is a scientific theory that explains the emergence of new varieties of living things in the
past and in the present. Evolution accounts for the striking patterns of similarities and differences among living things over time and across habitats
through the action of biological processes such as natural selection, mutation, symbiosis, gene transfer, and genetic drift. There has been an ongoing
debate between religion and science as to whether evolution truly takes place. It may be possible for religion and scientific reasoning to support one
another when it comes to evolutionary theory. Many who support the Christian faith are against evolution and believe God is the creator of ... Show

This supports the concept of microevolution. There are beliefs that the children born in Generation X and Z are more intelligent opposed to those who
were born in the Greatest Generation and the Baby Boomers Generation. The children of Generation X and Z were exposed to more technological
advances than earlier Generations, which forces their minds to think quicker in order to keep up with the vastly changing technological world.
"Karl Rahmer believes in the notion of "active self–transcendence." God is interiorly present to evolving creatures, not simply enabling them to exist in
a static way, but enabling them to transcend what they already are. The power of self–transcendence comes from within the creature, but it is a power
that finally comes not from the creature, but from the ongoing creative activity of God. God upholds and empowers the process of evolution from
within, as the power enabling creation itself to bring about something new (Edwards, p. 89)."
God is very intelligent and he created humans in his image. God has given living things the ability to evolve and/or adapt to their environment. "How
does the organism know what kind of genetic mutation is needed in order to become the kind of entity that will be able to survive a new environment?
Cells must have been pre–programmed by an intelligent mind that designed them to experience limited adaptation to a changing environment (Geisler
& Bocchino, p.147)."

Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution
Another issue is that Darwin's theory has many holes the scientists are unable to fill. These holes are obvious in Dwain's theory of evolution. Craig
Belanger works for EBSCO Publishing he stated in his Biography of Charles Darwin, which was found on the TRC database under Book Collection
Nonfiction: High School Edition Belanger said that,
Although there are many facets to Darwin 's theory of evolution by natural selection, at its core is the idea that a species ' ability to evolve is based on
its natural selection of traits that enable survival, while traits which interfere with survival are gradually weeded out during the process of
reproduction. This process of selection has come to be equated with "survival of the fittest," a term which Darwin did not coin and which did not
appear in his own work until later editions of "On the Origin of Species. (Belanger)
This idea that evolution happens through natural selection of the traits that evolve and are weeded out through reproduction is not always true, not all
animals that evolve, or humans for that matter pass on the best traits because some aren't all that great. Here are some examples to prove this; they
came from a researcher for the Berkeley evolution section from their article titled, Misconception of Evolution under the subheading Misconception:
Natural selection is the survival of the very fittest individuals in a population. The article says that "for example, a plant may not have the genes to

Evolution And Theory Of Evolution
Introduction
Humans have questioned their origins since the beginning of time and in the process, come up with a variety of theories to answer the age old
question, "Where do we come from?" The theory of evolution is just one of the many theories written over the centuries that attempts to answer this
question; however, it holds the distinction of being the only theory accepted as scientifically true in today's world. This paper will discuss the theory of
evolution in detail; topics addressed include defining the theory of evolution and explaining how the theory has evolved over time, as well as
highlighting the theory's strengths and weaknesses and examining how effective the theory is in today's world.
I. Description of the theory The theory of evolution explains how all of the living species on Earth came to exist as they do today. Credited to Charles
Darwin, the theory of evolution states that all the living species of today – humans included – evolved over time; we can see evidence of their
evolution in the fossils of now–extinct species. In his book Origin of Species, published in 1859, Darwin wrote that species evolve over time through a
mechanism known as "natural selection." Basically, each species is born with a multitude of traits, some more favorable to survival than others. Because
some traits encourage survival more so than others, the animals equipped with those traits tend to breed more than the animals that lack those traits.
Over time, more and more

The Scientific Theory Of Evolution
Since the beginning of time, there have been hundreds if not thousands of myths, legends, and beliefs of how the human race has come to be. Over
the past hundred years, once thought to be candid beliefs are being pushed around by the scientific theory of evolution. The Bible was written over
1500 years ago without any scientific backing. Because of its widespread popularity, most people believe it is correct. When a majority of people
believe in something most tend to stay and not wonder off because of what people will think of them if they do not believe in the same things. While
the theory of evolution has scientific evidence and is relatively new in comparison, it only has around fifteen percent of the United States. Most will turn

This leads to the first point, Charles Darwin 's theory of evolution. His theory states that organism change over a long period of time making them
more suited for their environment. When an organism has a trait that makes it more likely to survive in its environment while the other organisms die
off and are not able to reproduce is called natural selection. Today there are many signs that a person has, that show that humans have evolved from a
very early stage of man. The very early stage of man was a bipedal ape–like creature that lived in Africa. Archaeologist found a skeletal structure of
what is know to be the oldest know finding of a prehistoric human, lucy. Lucy was found on November 24, 1974. She is around three–point–one eight
million years old according to carbon dating. One of the major push factors that show that lucy is a common ancestor of man is that it can walk on
legs. "As in a modern human's skeleton, Lucy 's bones are rife with evidence clearly pointing to bipedality. Her distal femur shows several traits
unique to bipedality. The shaft is angled relative to the condyles (knee joint surfaces), which allows bipeds to balance on one leg at a time during
locomotion. There is a prominent patellar lip to keep the patella (knee cap) from dislocating due to this angle. Her condyles are large and are thus
adapted to handling the added weight that results from shifting from four limbs to two" (Michael Hagelberg).

Evolution Versus Creation And The Theory Of Evolution
Evolution versus creation is one of the most controversial topics that have ever been exposed to the world. Scientist and creationist both argue that their
perspective is more right than the other. In reality both sides don't know the exact truth behind the creation of the world. Evolution is the process in
which something changes into something different and typically resulting in it becoming more complex and better formed. Charles Darwin, an English
naturalist and geologist, suggested a theory best known as the "Theory of Evolution," stating that animals evolved into species that could withstand the
changing of the environment, increasing their ability to survive, and keeping the genetic traits that was passed onto them by their ancestors to
reproduce offspring that are similar to them. The theory of evolution is a scientific theory that is tested mainly by observation and using the scientific
methods. The scientific method is a process of forming replicas of the natural world to produce experiments to gather information in order to create a
hypothesis and theories. The theory of evolution is supported by fossil evidence that has been accumulating throughout the Earth history.Creationism is
a religious belief that a higher power created animals and everything else that exists on Earth today. This religious belief has been accepted by faith
and there is no way to test or investigate whether this idea of a higher power is true. Creationism beliefs mainly come from a strict

Theory Of Evolution By Natural Selection
Summary
Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection.
According to history, Charles Darwin is the first scientist to frame the theory of evolution by natural selection. It was publish in his book title "On
the Origin of Species 1859". Darwin express the theory of evolution by natural selection as a process by which species change over a period of time.
This change take place because of the changes in genetic and behavioral traits. The ability of the organisms to change over time or adjust to fit
environmental factors is due to the ancestral trait. The evolutional theory was supported by great body of evidence from various scientific disciplines.
Natural selection is the main fundamental tool used in the theory of evolutional change. Natural selection in evolutional theory is the process
responsible for the evolution of adaptive behaviors. Without the knowledge of natural selection in evolution, it will be very difficult to understand how
organism display their diversity and their tough behavior to adapt and survive in an environment.
The theory of evolution by natural selection has two main points:
пѓ All life on Earth are connected and are related to each other, and this variety of life is said to be a product of changes of species by natural
selection in which some traits are favored by environment factors over other species.
пѓ Natural selection depends on the ability of an organism to attract a mate. An example of this process is the peacock's colorful fluff and a male deer

Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution
Suppose we are a bunch of Lego pieces that are being put together, and each piece becomes a building block of life, engineered by someone much
greater than us, possibly standing over us right now, and planning the next course of our existence. On the other hand, our existence can best be
explained through Darwin's natural selection and his theory of evolution. In which case, we would learn about his research in figuring out how life
evolved; the vast amount of data he has collected based on his observation of plant life and animals, and even the "Origin of Species" published by
Darwin himself in 1859, explained many possibilities of how evolution took place. So then why do Americans find evolution to be suspicious in terms
of science? Darwin insisted that "evolution is a theory that is based on facts gathered through data and observation and not through political and
religious belief." (Shermer 18). Unfortunately what we learn from Darwin is that they are just theories, an assumption or an explanation; evolution
cannot be tested unless you travel back thousands or millions of years.
Science changes continuously overtime, with new evidence emerging from the very foundation we walk on. Biologist often debate, argue, and
formulate new theories of how life occur, based on new evidence. However, it is beginning to contradict past discoveries on evolution. Religion, on the
other hand, remains constant, without any change to the existence of God who engineered all form of life.

Theories Of Hominin Evolution
Thinking about evolutionary theory, some people's first thoughts are humans have come from monkeys. From what I have learned thus far in
Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I
had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human.
For me personally I did not see the relevance of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin's findings on the
Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I believe that evolution does occur, what I struggled with was the hominin
evolution. Prior to class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea of hominin evolution. It is important for
Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said
that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human. However, that is not at all the case. The
hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans.
Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the
remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had
never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new
evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids
further, for many reasons. One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. Another reason is to

The 's Theory Of Evolution
What is Evolutionism? According to the website All About Science: Darwin 's Theory of Evolution is the widely held notion that all life is related and
has descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and the flowers –– all related. Darwin 's general theory presumes the
development of life from non–life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) "descent with modification". That is, complex creatures evolve from
more simplistic ancestors naturally over time... Over time, beneficial mutations accumulate and the result is an entirely different organism (not just a
variation of the original, but an entirely different creature). (allaboutscience.org)
I have observed several testimonies from both sides of the debate, that evolution leaves no room for creation to be possible. When I consider Darwin's
idea "that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor," I see the possibility that evolution does indeed leave room for creation. In
the book of Genesis, the bible states God made man in his image, and the animals and vegetation it their image. So why could God, not be
scientifically considered to be our ancestor? So what is Creationism? Since it is not presently not learned at public school, in a nutshell, it is the theory
that God or some form of supernatural intelligence created mankind and the habitat which mankind would survive, called earth. Mankind makes
creations out of materials that already exist,

Theories on Evolution of Species
What is Evolution? It "is the process by which modern organisms have descended from ancient ancestors" [1]. Many great scientists have developed
theories to answer the question, "Where did life, and human beings, come from?" Two major theories of evolution that still exist, and valid today are
Charles Darwin's theory, and Lamarck's theory. These two theories have many differences, but attempt to explainevolution.
Charles Robert Darwin, was a naturalist, who proposed one of the most renowned theories of evolution; the theory of "Natural Selection". Darwin
published his work of evolution through his book, The Origin of Species and describes the process of evolution as the "survival of the fittest". There
are four processes to Natural Selection – Variation, Inheritance, Time and Selection. Variation is individuals' genetic makeup can vary within a
population. Variation can occur three ways; sex (the independent assortment of and recombination of genes through meiosis and other processes), gene
flow ("movement of genes from one population to another")[2] and random mutation. Inheritance is the inheritance of genetic traits from parent to
offspring. Time is the timeframe where evolutionary changes, such as speciation, can happen. Selection is "survival of the fittest", where the favourable
genes dominate the population. The peppered moth is an animal, which follows Darwin's theory. The start of the Industrial Revolution caused selection

The Theories Of The Theory Of Evolution
Eighty–seven percent of American scientists believe that a series of random chemical and biological events produced mankind. However, the
philosophical "theory" of evolution has no solid evidence, whereas creation can be proven. Science is supposed to be based on observation, right? The
best theories satisfy the test of experimentation. No one can test if evolution happened. Non one can prove that evolution actually happened. But what
evidence can we place against evolution? In 1859, Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, introducing the theory of evolution. One
hundred and fifty–six years later, scientists still accept this senseless philosophy. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay states, "Our school systems
teach the children that they are nothing but glorified apes who are evolutionized out of some primordial soup" (Snyder). Schools worldwide have
presented exactly this to the young, impressionable minds of your future doctors, engineers, scientists, and presidents. They assure us that if we give a
small amount of mud enough time it can, by itself, bring about the art of da Vinci, the plays of Shakespeare, the music of Mozart, and the brilliant
mind of Einstein. I would like you to take just a moment and think about this: For the smallest free–living thing to duplicate itself would need 239

The Theories Of Evolution Of The Human Population
The Theories of Evolution The human population has always wondered where they came from, or how they came to be. Why do they have certain
characteristics that distinguish them from other species, or how did they acquire these characteristics? Why do they have similar traits to other species?
There are many questions about the existence of the human population that they would love to have the answer to. Unfortunately, there is not an
answer that is a proven fact. Luckily, there are theories that try to explain where humans and other species evolved from. The two well–known theories
of evolution are accredited to Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. Jean Baptiste Lamarck developed the theory of acquired characteristics,
which is often known as Lamarckism (Stanford 17). Lamarck's theory stated that, "all organisms make adjustments to their environment during their
lifetime that could be passed on to their offspring, making those offspring better adapted to their environment" (Stanford 17). Lamarck says that
organisms adapt to their environment during their lives and the characteristics that they acquire during their lifetime are passed off to their offspring;
The offspring are now better adapted to the environment. Charles Darwin had a different approach in his theory of evolution. Darwin believed in his
theory of evolution by natural selection. Natural selection is the idea that "individuals with favorable variations would survive and reproduce, but those

DNA Sequences, Anatomical structures, embryological developement, analogous structures, and fossil records. What is Evolution? Evolution is "the

The evolutional theory has many sources of proof. Starting with DNA Sequences. How scientists can infer that animal are have a common ancestor by
DNA sequences. In DNA sequences scientists look at the patterns and common genes that appear in animals that they have in common to see if far
down the road they had a common ancestor. A common ancestor can also lead to something like a Homologous structure.
A homologous structure is a structure that animals have in common. For an example, humans, bats, rabbits, frogs, penguins, they have a similar arm
bone structure.(evolution.berkeley) Homologous structures could be evidence of common ancestry, and common DNA Sequences for skeletal structure.
Animals that have a common DNA sequences could end up with the same bones but built slightly different. If you already have DNA and it causes no

Evolution : Charles Darwin And The Theory Of Evolution
Evolution is one of the most controversial topics in modern history. Charles Darwin is the name that some scientists' praise and some Christians
despise. Whether or not one believes in the theory of evolution, it has a history preceding and continuing before and after the days of Darwin. The
history of the evolutionary theory is a complex and progressing topic that even today continues to be analyzed and debated.
Few words in the English language carry as much controversy as the word evolution. The word evolution refers to the process occurs in all living
organisms to develop, diversify, and adapt from earlier forms. Although the word evolution is synonymous withCharles Darwin, it can trace its roots to
the Greek. The theory of evolution is similar to the word evolution in that it may be synonymous with Darwin, but it can trace its history much further
back in time. Non–creationist concepts of how nature evolves can be traced all the way back to the works of Empedocles, a Greek philosopher.
Empedocles writings on cosmogony dates back to before 430BC. His writing is believed to be part of the foundation for the future of evolutionary
research. Leucippus, another Greek philosopher, is believed to be the first to propose the idea that everything is made up of imperishable atoms. His
proposal led to Democritus and himself forming the concept of the mechanical evolution of nature. The two Greek philosophers proposed how bodies
come into existence from atoms. Democritus works

One of the many examples that support this idea that organisms evolve and change over time is the finding of the Tiktaalik; though it is an unknown
species it has traits that are similar to reptiles, amphibians, and birds that exist today. Because of fossil findings like the Tiktaalik scientists no longer
have doubts about evolution and it's continuing occurrence (Alberto 2008).
In the 20th century, with the development of the science of genetics biologists began understanding the mechanics of how traits are passed down to
different generations and how they are altered through the discovery of DNA and its major importance. They learned that parts of DNA from each
parent are passed down to the offspring. Mutations of DNA, which cause alterations of species, can also occur when traits are being passed down to
the offspring. Mutations in DNA can cause the offspring to have difficulties surviving and eventually lead to the extinction of the species. On the other
hand, mutation of DNA can affect the offspring positively and change its traits to be stronger and a better survivor in that certain environment which
would eventually lead to a growth in population of the certain species. Mutations in DNA can also be neutral and have no effect of the offspring's
traits. This battle with nature and survival through DNA lead to the foundation of the idea of Natural Selection (Alberto 2008). Natural selection is

Lamarck's Theory Of Evolution Report
Introduction
Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the
history of earth. The theory of evolution by natural selection, is talked about in Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859, which is the
process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits. Two very important scientists, Charles
Darwin and Alfred Russel built up the evolutionary thought laid by Lamarck; using their ecological knowledge and worldly experience, they slowly
start to develop the theory of evolution. The evidence we have in biology today to prove the theory of evolution are: 1. Species share similarities that ...

The Theory Of Evolution By Natural Selection
The theory of evolution by natural selection proposes that all species are related (Eade, S. and profile, V. 2014). There is estimated to be between 6
million and 100 million different species in the world, with more species undiscovered than those discovered; this is all owing to the concept of
evolution (Borenstein, S. 2014). Evolution is defined as the "change in the characteristics of a species over many generations (Linstead, 2012)." The
most widely accepted theory of evolution is natural selection, which is the "process where an environmental factor acts on a population and results in
some organisms having more offspring than others (Linstead, 2012)." Other forms of selection include artificial selection, which occurs when people ...

These successful genes are inherited by the offspring in order to recreate another healthy generation of species (Biology Online, 2014). However,
natural selection will alter overtime due to selective pressures meaning that particular characteristics will only be favourable for a certain amount of
time as species can evolve to suit more successful features.
There are three main scientists whose works contributed to the now–orthodox theory of natural selection; Jean–Baptiste Lamarck, Charles Darwin and
Alfred Russel Wallace.
Jean–Baptiste Lamarck
Lamarck (1744 – 1829) was a French Biologist with a thorough knowledge of medicine and botany. He also recognised the similarities of species and
came to the assumption that "life was not fixed (Florida State University, 2014)." He developed the first comprehensive theory of evolution (Wagner, J.
2013). He continued to contribute to the cell theory and suggested an alternative evolution hypothesis based on "acquired characteristics". His
mechanism was open–minded; believing that organisms had an "obsession to be perfect (Unknown, 2011)." When environments modified, organisms
needed to alter themselves in order to survive. It was believed that if beings continued to use an organ more than they had previously, it would
increase in size throughout its lifetime and vice versa (Strickberger, M. 2014). Lamarck applied this theory to giraffes. He assumed that a "nervous

"Theory of Evolution"
Charles Darwin theory of evolution contains two parts. The first part "Evolution Occurs" meaning organisms change over time in heritable physical or
behavioral traits and life on earth has changed as people change from ancestors in the past. Second part "Evolution Occurs by Natural Selection" natural
selection is the process in which living things with beneficial traits produce more off spring than others which results in changes that allow an
organism to better adapt to its environment can help it survive over time. All life on earth is connected and related to each other and diversity of
life came from modifications in populations in natural selectin. Natural selection can also be described as survival of the fittest in which the fittest
is the ability to survive and reproduce. Most people believe that the species were created at the same time and remained unchanged after. Darwins
ideas of evolution came before scientist knew about DNA it started on his voyage in 1831 when he was 22 years old he went on a scientific trip on
a ship called HMS Beagle. He was the naturalist on the trip meaning he was supposed to observe and collect particles of dirt, rocks, animals, plants,
and fossils. He was interested by his the nature he spent 3/5 years exploring nature on islands and contents. When Darwin returned he had become
famous as a naturalist because a former teacher published Darwins observations.

never ending war. Today, America exercises freedom of religion. However, this freedom is restricted in schools where Darwin's Theory ofEvolution is
taught. With many advancements in science, to many, the coexistence of science and religion, specifically Christianity, is questionable. To some,
developments in science, such as evolution, threaten the core beliefs of religious institutions. Several scientists also believe that it is possible to
believe in God and that humans evolved over time. Lastly, others, including me, believe that science and religion can coexist and that both miracles
and new scientific discoveries can strengthen Christian faith. As Albert Einstein said, "science without religion is lame, religion without science is
blind." This paper will further explore this question and provide evidence that science and religion can coexist: are science and religion comparable?
What do scientific discoveries say?
In the beginning, there was light. This light created a spark, which started the fire of science and religion. The light is the existence of science, the
spark is the advancements in and applications of science, and the fire is the controversy that

Theories Of Evolution
What is evolution? (Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier
forms during the history of the earth). Charles Darwin was the original founder of evolution. There are many theories out there that scientist have came
up with and have come to believe through research on ancient organism remains, similarities of embryos, fossil records, and chemical and Anatomical
similarities. Ancient organisms, scientist say that organisms that lived long ago that have modern day organisms that look just alike or very similar to
today's. Scientist say organisms have evolved and that why they didn't go extinct. For instance a mammoth, they lived in the cold but what happened...

Back when scientist first found fossils they compared them to moderate day organisms . Scientists then realized that the fossils and the moderate
day organisms remains didn't look alike and had features that the other didn't have. Moderate day scientist have technology that they can date back
fossils and find out when the organism was alive. Similarities of living organisms, this is the belief that organism came from one or two common
organisms. A great example of this is houses, donkeys, and zebras, they are all similar organisms that have almost the same body structure, but they
live in different parts of the world and have evolved and adapted to where they live so they can survive. (Scientists can compare the DNA of two
organisms; the more similar the DNA, the more closely related the organisms). Similarities of embryos, an embryo is an unborn or unhatched child.
Scientist say that many organisms have similar characteristics (This shows that the animals are similar and that they develop similarly, implying that
they are related, have common ancestors and that they started out the same, gradually evolving different traits, but that the basic plan for a creature's
beginning remains the same). A good example of this is a frog, a hippo, and a rabbit they have similar characteristics such as frogs and rabbits both
being able to jump and the frog and hippo being able to stay underwater for long periods of time and all of them breath

Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution
There are many theories as to what scientist believe is the forth coming of evolution or what they deem to be the reasoning behind its development.
However, Charles Darwin would change the theories of evolution and would go down in history as one of the greatest influential figures in human
existence. Although some scientist disagree with Darwin's Theory, Darwin is the only person who was able to provide sufficient evidence to prove his
theory of evolution. The one question that remains, Can God and evolution co–exist?
Darwin's Education and What Leads to his Theories
Charles Darwin was considered the leading transmutationist of the nineteenth century, or so history tells us. Darwin originally started school in the
medical field in the late 1800's at University of Edinburgh Medical School , only to drop out when he found a deep fascination for nature and its
development throughout time. Could it be that Darwin was destined for great things? Finding his way to the University of Cambridge, he studied
marine invertebrates, where he encouraged his deep passions for natural and molecular sciences. Over the course of many years and expeditions set out
by Darwin and his team of researchers, he collected many unusual fossils that made him investigate further into his theories of evolution. Becoming a
well–known author in 1839, Darwin had his first publication "The Journal of the Voyage", which helped support the theories of Charles Lyell's
uniformitarian ideas. Darwin 's

Evolution Scientific Theory
What is a theory in science?
A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the world, based on facts that have been frequently confirmed through observation and experiment
or is often just speculations. Is evolution just a theory? Evolution is considered a valid scientific theory as it cannot be expressed in a concise
mathematical equation so it is referred to as a theory, which does not make it more accurate than a law.Natural selection, comparative embryology,
comparative anatomy, DNA and scientific contributions all support the theory ofevolution.
Natural selection
Natural selection is a process in nature by which organisms are better adapted to their environment tend survive and reproduce more likely than those
who are not fit for their environment. For example, peppered moth used to be a light colour with black spots but when the ... Show more content on

For example, embryos of many animals, from fish to humans each show similarities, which suggest a common ancestor. In humans, it is obvious that
embryos begin to develop what would have formed into gills that our ancestors had. Embryos also develop a tail, which by the time they are born it
is gone which shows that ancestors were born with tails but we have evolved to no longer be born with a tail. Comparative embryology also shows
that many different life forms experience similar stages of development, which points to common origins. Comparative anatomy is the study of
similarities and differences in the anatomy of different species. It is closely related to evolutionary biology and phylogeny (evolution of species).
Comparative anatomy has served evidence for evolution, which indicates various organisms share a common ancestor. Comparative anatomy is the
first line of reasoning in determining the connection of

Theory of evolution
The theory of evolution by natural selection, first formulated in Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859. It is when an animal changes over
time it changes its heritable physical or behavioral traits. This happens so a species is better suited to live in an environment and to have more offspring.
Evolution by natural selection is one of the best substantiated theories in the history of science due to is evidence from paleontology, geology, genetics,
to developmental biology.
The theory has two main points, said Brian Richmond, curator of human origins at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. "All
life on Earth is connected and related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can happen many ways like a population to change color or size over the course of several generations. This is called "microevolution." But over
time it can become bigger it can create new species, known as "macroevolution." Darwin did know anting about anything about genetics or how
much it effects it how things works. That came later, with the discovery of how genes encode different biological or behavioral traits, and how
genes are passed down from parents to offspring. The incorporation of genetics and Darwin's theory is known as "modern evolutionary synthesis."
The way physical and behavioral changes that make natural selection possible goes to DNA and genes. When it changes its known as mutations.
"Mutations are basically the raw material on which evolution acts," Pobiner said. Mutations can be caused by random errors in DNA replication or
repair, or by chemical or radiation damage. Most times, mutations are either harmful or neutral, but in rare instances, a mutation might prove
beneficial to the organism. If so, it will become more prevalent in the next generation and spread throughout the population. So think of like spider
man he was bit by a radioactive spider and instead of getting cancer he changed for the better. (I am not condoning for you to get by a radioactive

Theories Of Evolution
Evolution is the process in which organisms descend from ancestors. Evolution is responsible for some of the various similarities seen through
biological life, and it also explains all of the diversity in organisms and species. There are various components of evolution: descent, mutation, natural
selection, genetic variation, genetic drift and coevolution. All of these components are extremely fundamental to evolution because Darwin's theory of
evolution states that all species and organisms have arisen and developed due to material stemming from natural selection of petite inherited variations
that can increase the ability for said organism to survive, reproduce, etc. This theory states that the changes that have occurred through mutation is
beneficial, harmful, or neutral. If changes in an organisms DNA is harmful then the odds of that organism surviving/reproducing/ etc is unlikely. Some
may think of this concept as survival of the fittest. Mutations tend to make the evolution process speed up which means that new genes are added to a
species' gene pool. This is beneficial to an extent when it comes to organisms that have many dangerous genes and factors that can cause their offspring
to mutate and continue to reproduce organisms with less than mutations. Those who are deemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phenotypic differences explain why an individual organism has an advantage over another. Some of these traits can be relating to skin color, pigments
in the skin (melanin), better sight, more strength, etc. The more appealing traits there are the better, because this makes that organism an ideal choice
which also means it's superior and this is important for sexual selection as well. To have a superior species, organisms with impeccable traits will seek
out other organisms with the same or better traits, thus the process of

Evolution And Evolution: Creationism And The Theory Of...
As mankind continues to grow throughout the world, there has always seemed to be one perpetual question. How did mankind come to be? The two
main theories that arose to answer this question were the theory of evolution and the theory of creationism. The theory of evolution claims that humans
have evolved over thousands of years from apes and is the process of organisms changing over time to adapt themselves better to their environment.
The theory of creationism comes from a religious viewpoint and is the idea that a God or higher being created the entire universe and all things within it.
In other words, evolution has a more scientific stance in the creation of the universe while creationism has a more religious stance in the creation of the

One is not right over the other, but better yet they work together to explain the creation of our world. Possibly there is evolution in our creation.
Continue going back each species in a line of evolution and eventually you must get to a stopping point or "starting point". How did life, as we know
it, begin? There had to have been a greater being such as God who has the power to create something out of nothing. God is such a being that we
cannot begin to understand his abilities because we have not been exposed to anything as great as his powers. Creationism and evolution work together
to grow our world into what it is today. God began the life through creationism, and evolution has continued to let living beings grow into their forms
today.
There is no one source of beginning in our world. Two contrasting theories of evolution and creationism cannot prove or disprove one another. They
provide a better explanation for the beginning of our world when they are put together to provide greater evidence of how our universe came to be.
Evolution and creationism should no longer be controversial subjects where there is one side over the other, but instead they should be looked at as
subjects that together provide solid evidence, reasoning, and theories that jointly help to prove the question of

Cell Theory Evolution
Biologists use the ideas of cell theory, hereditary and genetics, and evolution through natural selection in many different ways. While being very
different areas of study, they all share a core idea. This idea is that cells duplicate, and sometimes experience random mutations. From this very basic
idea, scientists can theorize that all life on earth came from one or a few very simple cells, and are related through this. But the diversity of life today
also shows how these related cell groups evolved and changed.
Cell theory is the scientific knowledge that cells can only come from other cells. Years ago, when the idea of spontaneous generation was disproved, a
new theory came into play and allowed scientists to learn that cells split and duplicate, sometimes experiencing random genetic mutations. This led to
the question: if all cells come from other cells, then where did the very first cell come from? Some scientists believe that perhaps spontaneous
generation happened once, billions of years ago, to start the chain of life. Others theorize that the first cells came from an asteroid from another planet.

traits that it inherits, and the traits that another creature of the same species inherits from it's own parents, can be very different, but still belong to the

The Theory Of Biological Evolution
Social Darwinism is defined as the application of the theory of biological evolution to human affairs. It was used to justify and clarify many notions of
nationalism and imperialism. Science played a huge role in the coming about of this new discovery but in reality, the society shaped the science of
what it was about. Charles Darwin was the root of new era and was profound to come up with the theory of evolution. His theory had become one the
fundamental unifying principles of modern biology and led to questioning in regards to what was previously stated in the past.
In the 19th century, the United States and Europe underwent tons of changes. Because of the Industrial Revolution, Americans were off of the farms,
and moved into the cities to work in offices and factories. Steel manufacturing became the dominant industry with an abundance of iron coal. There was
easy access to cheap water transportation routes which aided in speeding the nation's economy. In Europe, they too experienced the rise of
industrialization; Europeans were also leaving the farms to migrate to cities in search of jobs, technology and trade. However, this new liberal
capitalism upset the balance of power in the European society causing unrest. Prior to the 19th Century, religion provided the moral, governing
perimeters throughout a society. Colonization, up until this point, was justified by divine right. Commoners did not question those in power; they were
afraid of the ramifications

The Theory Of Evolution And Creation
Getting back to the subject of evolution and creation, I believe it is essential for future generations to make their own informed decisions, especially
when pertaining to this particular matter. I am not opposed to the theory of evolution being taught, discussed, or researched in public school, college,
or any other location in our universe for the matter. I am, however, opposed to any hypothetical theory being presented to our youth as the only option
that can explain the origins of life, as that would be dangerously misleading. Society has a tremendous responsibility to ethically and impartially ensure
that our children are provided with the facts, in order for them to expand on previous knowledge and shape a promising future. If society does not
remain objective when considering the infrastructure of its systems, then it is doomed for failure. This is where I believe human evolution is most
evident, that is to say we as a species have not physically evolved as rapidly as we have mentally, conceptually and socially evolved. What is
Evolutionism? According to the website All About Science: Darwin 's Theory of Evolution is the widely held notion that all life is related and has
descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and the flowers –– all related. Darwin 's general theory presumes the
development of life from non–life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) "descent with modification". That is, complex creatures

organisms by the process of macro–evolution. Complex forms of life must have evolved through random processes of mutations accompanied by the

The Theory Of Evolution And Evolution
Since Charles Darwin suggested the theory of evolution by natural selection in this best–known work, On the Origin of Species, controversy has
followed. As a (computer) scientist, this student has no personal problem with the theory of evolution. However, since the debate of whether or not
evolution actually exists is still alive and well today, a brief exploration of the arguments against is not only interesting, but also increasingly
necessary. Why is there such disparity over this topic over one hundred and fifty years later? In order to understand the contrary side of this debate, the
question must be asked: "why would evolution not be possible?". This student will walk through possible reasons someone might not accept evolution
as a scientific theory, as well as some of the more well–known arguments , and provide responses to those arguments from the side of evolutionary
science . The first thing one must understand is that there are many different factions of people that do not "believe" in evolution. This is not to
disparage those of lower education or less privilege, but meant to illustrate the ease in which misgivings about evolution pervade the social circles of
certain groups of people. These people range in religious background, gender, and nationality. One of the only things most people have in common if
they do not accept evolution as a scientific theory is education. In fact, in a 2014 Gallup poll, this was addressed as follows: "Those who adopt the

The Theory of Evolution Essay
Biological evolution is the name for the changes in gene frequency in a population of a species from generation to generation. Evolution offers
explanation to why species genetically change over years and the diversity of life on Earth. Although it is generally accepted by the scientific
community, Charles Darwin's theory of evolution has been studied and debated for several decades. In 1859, Darwin published On The Origin of
Species, which introduced the idea of evolutionary thought which he supported with evidence of one type of evolutionary mechanism, natural
selection. Some of the main mechanisms of evolution are natural selection, mutation, and genetic drift. The idea that all life on Earth shares a common

Over time the beak would become longer and those birds would survive. The next mechanism, genetic drift, happens by chance. For example, a bug
that is either red or green. If a large portion of the red bug happens to get stepped on, the gene frequency for this species is now changed. Mutation
is another evolutionary mechanism that happens by chance. Mutation is when the genetic material of an organism is altered. An example of this is
albinism which has altered the genes of several different animals. Evolution has been debated for many years. Most scientists assume evolution to be
true, but it is not officially proven. Evolution is known as "fact and theory," because it is a fact that organisms have changed over time, but the
mechanism that changes those organisms is uncertain. One of the major debates regarding evolution is the belief in creationism. Creationists believe
that the Universe and organisms on Earth were all created by a divine power. There are also some theories in which creationism and evolution
coexist. One idea is that the divine being who created the world used evolution as a method. Another idea is that science and religion are actually the
same thing and religion explains the unknown parts of science. For example, science says that the world couldn't have been created in seven days, but
one of God's days may not be the same length

Evolution theory is not true because it gives a vague explanation of how the world developed to be what it is today and it also fails to explain why it
is no longer going on today. As absurd as it is there are people in the world today who believe it majority of them being atheist. There have been
attempts to dethrone God from His rightful position as a creator and at the helm of this is evolution theory. The bible clearly states that the world is
6,000 years today but when you read scientific articles it will tell you the world has been in existence for billions of years. There are mysteries in
nature that show that God exists and how He affects our daily life. For instance, the electrifying eel can generate up to 600 Volts of electrical

Evolution : Fact And Theory
Evolution What is evolution? Is it a theory or is it based on facts? Many people think that it is both a fact and a theory. We all seek to find an
explanation for life as we know it. We all want to understand how it all began. Creationist believes that the world was created in six days by a
supreme being referred to as God. Many scientists report that there is plenty of evidence to prove that all living things have evolved, and reference
examples such as evidence from fossils that indicates similarities to ancient creatures, and evidence from genetics to prove all living things share the
same basic heredity by using DNA to prove that genes are passed from the parent to their offspring. According to Richard E. Lenski, author ofEvolution
: Fact and Theory, "Evolution is an incontrovertible fact that organisms have changed, or evolved, during the history of life on Earth" (Lenski, p. 1).
There are four major patterns that manifest in nature. These patterns are genetic variation which means that no two individuals have the same DNA;
adaptations which are what makes a species so well adapted to its environment; divergence meaning the species are grouped into families; and fossil
species which is the mineralized impressions of once living organisms. There have been many changes since the first life forms were documented. The
changes occur from mutation when the DNA is not copied perfectly and it leads to a difference between the parent and their offspring. "Biological

The Theory of Evolution Essay
The ongoing scientific investigation of how exactly evolution occurred and continues to occur has been an argumentative idea amongst society since
Darwin first articulated it over a century ago. The scientific basis of evolution accounts for happenings that are also essential concerns of religion; both
religion and science focus on the origins of humans and of biological diversity. For instance, in the reading "Truth Cannot Contradict Truth," Pope John
Paul II, addressing the Pontifical Academy of Science, discussed the matter of God as creator of man. The Pope explains that men cannot relate to
animals because men are superior. The reasoning for that is because God created humans under his likeness. What the church is saying about mankind

"If no such variations exist, the population rapidly goes extinct because it cannot adapt to a changing environment" (O'Neil, 1998–2013). Scientists call
this reproductive success. "Within a specific environment context, one genotype will be better than another genotype in survival or reproduction for
certain reasons having to do with the way its particular features relate to the environment or relate to other organisms within the population" (Futuyma,
2000–2014). The theory of evolution is explicable through various kinds of scientific research. In the science of paleontology, the history of life is
studied. Paleontologists study fossils to learn the past ecologies, evolution, and the origins of humans. In order to understand the processes that have
led to both the origination and destruction of organisms since life began, paleontologists incorporate both scientific knowledge and studies. Fossil
findings are critically important for confirming predictions of evolution theory. Of the many discoveries that are made yearly to add depth to the
understanding of evolution, an example is a recent discovery of a creature they named Tiktaalik. The Tiktaalik was uncovered to be a transitional
animal between shallow–water fishes and limbed animals. The creature supports the idea that it emerged from both mammals and reptiles, suggesting
that the two are related. These findings support prediction of evolution, contradicting the belief that God

Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution
Darwin first presented his theory of evolution by natural selection through his book called 'On the Origin of Species'. The book was released in 1859
and it explained the process of how organisms changed over time through the result of changes in heritable physical or behavioural traits. These changes
allow an organism to adapt to the environment that it inhabits so that the organism's chances of survival improve and produce more offspring (Than,
2015). However, biological evolution does not simply mean a change over time. It is believed that the central idea of biological evolution is that all
organisms on Earth share a common ancestor (Understanding Evolution, 2015). Darwin's theory 'presumes the development of life from non–life and
stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) 'descent with modification'' (All About Science, 2015). Mutations that aid the survival of an organism are
preserved and that is a process called natural selection. The beneficial mutations are passed on to the next generation and over time, the beneficial
mutations accumulate and the result is variation between organisms (All About Science, 2015). The fact that there are numerous species that are living
and extinct shows that there must have been a reason why one organism had the ability to survive and the other did not. Their survival depended on
their adaptability to their environment (American Museum of Natural History, 2015).

Theories Of Evolution Of Psychology

  • 1. Theories Of Evolution Of Psychology Ideas in psychology have been influenced by many fields of study ranging from philosophy to physics. Evolutionary ideas, themselves, have had a substantial role in shaping psychological thought. This paper will provide an overview of the influence of evolutionary thought on the field of psychology along with a discussion of the range of societal implications associated with evolutionary psychology. The influence of evolutionary ideas on psychology dates back to Charles Darwin, the man who proposed The Theory of Evolution by natural selection. Evolution theory suggests that organisms change with time to adapt to their environments. Those organisms best capable of surviving and making adaptations to their environment will have the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aforementioned influences eventually lead to the field of evolutionary psychology in which the common view is that both physical and mental organs developed through natural selection. Biases in how our brains perceive, process, and react to the world around us can either contribute to our survival or to the reason we 'die out '. Such biases affect our social behavior and status, sexual selection, and gender relations (Wright, 2010). Presently, evolutionary psychology has become an interest in popular culture which in turn influences the subject matter studied in this field. It provides plausible reasons for an array of human behaviors which sparks interest. People want to know why men have aggressive tendencies or why some will risk their lives to help those with no benefit to themselves. 'Survival of the fittest ' has become a commonly used phrase and Charles Darwin is no secret. Evolutionary psychology raises the idea that personality and behavior are mediated by evolutionary forces. This notion can have both positive and negative implications for society. It can provide a reason for why we love the people we love; but it can also provide an adaptive role for violent behavior. These ideas provide a rationale for our ability to think and reason. It makes us question our motives in certain situations like when we may act altruistically. This is reflected in society in many ways. For instance, consider the number of ... • 2. Evolution Of A Evolutionary Theory Evolution is descent with modification, a phrase Darwin used in proposing the at Earth's many species are descendants of ancestral species that were different The power of evolution as a unifying theory is its ability to explain and connect a vast array of observations about the living world. Aristotle believed that life forms could be arranged on a scale of increasing complexity. Each form of life, perfect and permanent, had its allotted space. Darwin argued that classification should be based on evolutionary relationships Darwin used fossils, the remains or traces of organisms from the past, to study and observe change over time. Paleontology is the study of these fossils Darwin said that if geologic change results from slow, continuous actions rather than from sudden events, then the Earth must be much older than what was previously thought. Lamarck used two main principles already accepted to prove his evolutionary theory. The first was use and disuse, the idea that parts of the body that are used extensively become larger and stronger. The other was inheritance of acquired characteristics, which stated that an organism could pass these modifications to its offspring. Lamarck's idea that organisms have an innate drive to become more complex was rejected by Darwin. Darwin reasoned that over a long time, descent with modification eventually led to the rich diversity we see today. • 3. The Theory Of Evolution Of Creationism The theory of evolution is at odds with the views of many religions, and many people want to allow a religious view of creationism to be taught in the public school system. The foundation of evolution is based upon the belief that the origin of all ordered complex systems, including living creatures, can be explained by natural laws without the initiation or intervention of God. A person who believes in the biblical model of creation is viewed by some non– believers as a naive, narrow–minded religious fanatic who is not willing to look at the observable evidence with an open mind. Because the evolutionary idea of origins has been so widely accepted by the scientific community, many people have reasoned that the creation model should be completely rejected without fairly examining its claims. Even many Christians who have deep trust and faith in the Bible have never really understood the claims of the creation account (McLean 11). Over the past several years, a great deal of controversy surrounding the creation–evolution issue has been generated by scientists who have based their claims on the creation model and have been willing to let their reputations stand. Creationists have openly requested that when the discussion of origins occurs in the public school system, both the model of creation and evolution be presented side by side. Initially, scientists and educators who have accepted the theory of evolution without question were reluctant to pay any serious attention to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Evolution : A Scientific Theory According to National Center for Science Education, evolution is a scientific theory that explains the emergence of new varieties of living things in the past and in the present. Evolution accounts for the striking patterns of similarities and differences among living things over time and across habitats through the action of biological processes such as natural selection, mutation, symbiosis, gene transfer, and genetic drift. There has been an ongoing debate between religion and science as to whether evolution truly takes place. It may be possible for religion and scientific reasoning to support one another when it comes to evolutionary theory. Many who support the Christian faith are against evolution and believe God is the creator of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This supports the concept of microevolution. There are beliefs that the children born in Generation X and Z are more intelligent opposed to those who were born in the Greatest Generation and the Baby Boomers Generation. The children of Generation X and Z were exposed to more technological advances than earlier Generations, which forces their minds to think quicker in order to keep up with the vastly changing technological world. "Karl Rahmer believes in the notion of "active self–transcendence." God is interiorly present to evolving creatures, not simply enabling them to exist in a static way, but enabling them to transcend what they already are. The power of self–transcendence comes from within the creature, but it is a power that finally comes not from the creature, but from the ongoing creative activity of God. God upholds and empowers the process of evolution from within, as the power enabling creation itself to bring about something new (Edwards, p. 89)." God is very intelligent and he created humans in his image. God has given living things the ability to evolve and/or adapt to their environment. "How does the organism know what kind of genetic mutation is needed in order to become the kind of entity that will be able to survive a new environment? Cells must have been pre–programmed by an intelligent mind that designed them to experience limited adaptation to a changing environment (Geisler & Bocchino, p.147)." • 5. Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution Another issue is that Darwin's theory has many holes the scientists are unable to fill. These holes are obvious in Dwain's theory of evolution. Craig Belanger works for EBSCO Publishing he stated in his Biography of Charles Darwin, which was found on the TRC database under Book Collection Nonfiction: High School Edition Belanger said that, Although there are many facets to Darwin 's theory of evolution by natural selection, at its core is the idea that a species ' ability to evolve is based on its natural selection of traits that enable survival, while traits which interfere with survival are gradually weeded out during the process of reproduction. This process of selection has come to be equated with "survival of the fittest," a term which Darwin did not coin and which did not appear in his own work until later editions of "On the Origin of Species. (Belanger) This idea that evolution happens through natural selection of the traits that evolve and are weeded out through reproduction is not always true, not all animals that evolve, or humans for that matter pass on the best traits because some aren't all that great. Here are some examples to prove this; they came from a researcher for the Berkeley evolution section from their article titled, Misconception of Evolution under the subheading Misconception: Natural selection is the survival of the very fittest individuals in a population. The article says that "for example, a plant may not have the genes to flourish in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Evolution And Theory Of Evolution Introduction Humans have questioned their origins since the beginning of time and in the process, come up with a variety of theories to answer the age old question, "Where do we come from?" The theory of evolution is just one of the many theories written over the centuries that attempts to answer this question; however, it holds the distinction of being the only theory accepted as scientifically true in today's world. This paper will discuss the theory of evolution in detail; topics addressed include defining the theory of evolution and explaining how the theory has evolved over time, as well as highlighting the theory's strengths and weaknesses and examining how effective the theory is in today's world. I. Description of the theory The theory of evolution explains how all of the living species on Earth came to exist as they do today. Credited to Charles Darwin, the theory of evolution states that all the living species of today – humans included – evolved over time; we can see evidence of their evolution in the fossils of now–extinct species. In his book Origin of Species, published in 1859, Darwin wrote that species evolve over time through a mechanism known as "natural selection." Basically, each species is born with a multitude of traits, some more favorable to survival than others. Because some traits encourage survival more so than others, the animals equipped with those traits tend to breed more than the animals that lack those traits. Over time, more and more ... • 7. The Scientific Theory Of Evolution Since the beginning of time, there have been hundreds if not thousands of myths, legends, and beliefs of how the human race has come to be. Over the past hundred years, once thought to be candid beliefs are being pushed around by the scientific theory of evolution. The Bible was written over 1500 years ago without any scientific backing. Because of its widespread popularity, most people believe it is correct. When a majority of people believe in something most tend to stay and not wonder off because of what people will think of them if they do not believe in the same things. While the theory of evolution has scientific evidence and is relatively new in comparison, it only has around fifteen percent of the United States. Most will turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leads to the first point, Charles Darwin 's theory of evolution. His theory states that organism change over a long period of time making them more suited for their environment. When an organism has a trait that makes it more likely to survive in its environment while the other organisms die off and are not able to reproduce is called natural selection. Today there are many signs that a person has, that show that humans have evolved from a very early stage of man. The very early stage of man was a bipedal ape–like creature that lived in Africa. Archaeologist found a skeletal structure of what is know to be the oldest know finding of a prehistoric human, lucy. Lucy was found on November 24, 1974. She is around three–point–one eight million years old according to carbon dating. One of the major push factors that show that lucy is a common ancestor of man is that it can walk on legs. "As in a modern human's skeleton, Lucy 's bones are rife with evidence clearly pointing to bipedality. Her distal femur shows several traits unique to bipedality. The shaft is angled relative to the condyles (knee joint surfaces), which allows bipeds to balance on one leg at a time during locomotion. There is a prominent patellar lip to keep the patella (knee cap) from dislocating due to this angle. Her condyles are large and are thus adapted to handling the added weight that results from shifting from four limbs to two" (Michael Hagelberg). According to the bible, the ... • 8. Evolution Versus Creation And The Theory Of Evolution Evolution versus creation is one of the most controversial topics that have ever been exposed to the world. Scientist and creationist both argue that their perspective is more right than the other. In reality both sides don't know the exact truth behind the creation of the world. Evolution is the process in which something changes into something different and typically resulting in it becoming more complex and better formed. Charles Darwin, an English naturalist and geologist, suggested a theory best known as the "Theory of Evolution," stating that animals evolved into species that could withstand the changing of the environment, increasing their ability to survive, and keeping the genetic traits that was passed onto them by their ancestors to reproduce offspring that are similar to them. The theory of evolution is a scientific theory that is tested mainly by observation and using the scientific methods. The scientific method is a process of forming replicas of the natural world to produce experiments to gather information in order to create a hypothesis and theories. The theory of evolution is supported by fossil evidence that has been accumulating throughout the Earth history.Creationism is a religious belief that a higher power created animals and everything else that exists on Earth today. This religious belief has been accepted by faith and there is no way to test or investigate whether this idea of a higher power is true. Creationism beliefs mainly come from a strict ... • 9. Theory Of Evolution By Natural Selection Summary Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. According to history, Charles Darwin is the first scientist to frame the theory of evolution by natural selection. It was publish in his book title "On the Origin of Species 1859". Darwin express the theory of evolution by natural selection as a process by which species change over a period of time. This change take place because of the changes in genetic and behavioral traits. The ability of the organisms to change over time or adjust to fit environmental factors is due to the ancestral trait. The evolutional theory was supported by great body of evidence from various scientific disciplines. Natural selection is the main fundamental tool used in the theory of evolutional change. Natural selection in evolutional theory is the process responsible for the evolution of adaptive behaviors. Without the knowledge of natural selection in evolution, it will be very difficult to understand how organism display their diversity and their tough behavior to adapt and survive in an environment. The theory of evolution by natural selection has two main points: пѓ All life on Earth are connected and are related to each other, and this variety of life is said to be a product of changes of species by natural selection in which some traits are favored by environment factors over other species. пѓ Natural selection depends on the ability of an organism to attract a mate. An example of this process is the peacock's colorful fluff and a male deer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution Suppose we are a bunch of Lego pieces that are being put together, and each piece becomes a building block of life, engineered by someone much greater than us, possibly standing over us right now, and planning the next course of our existence. On the other hand, our existence can best be explained through Darwin's natural selection and his theory of evolution. In which case, we would learn about his research in figuring out how life evolved; the vast amount of data he has collected based on his observation of plant life and animals, and even the "Origin of Species" published by Darwin himself in 1859, explained many possibilities of how evolution took place. So then why do Americans find evolution to be suspicious in terms of science? Darwin insisted that "evolution is a theory that is based on facts gathered through data and observation and not through political and religious belief." (Shermer 18). Unfortunately what we learn from Darwin is that they are just theories, an assumption or an explanation; evolution cannot be tested unless you travel back thousands or millions of years. Science changes continuously overtime, with new evidence emerging from the very foundation we walk on. Biologist often debate, argue, and formulate new theories of how life occur, based on new evidence. However, it is beginning to contradict past discoveries on evolution. Religion, on the other hand, remains constant, without any change to the existence of God who engineered all form of life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Theories Of Hominin Evolution Thinking about evolutionary theory, some people's first thoughts are humans have come from monkeys. From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin's findings on the Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I believe that evolution does occur, what I struggled with was the hominin evolution. Prior to class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human. However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids further, for many reasons. One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. Another reason is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The 's Theory Of Evolution What is Evolutionism? According to the website All About Science: Darwin 's Theory of Evolution is the widely held notion that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and the flowers –– all related. Darwin 's general theory presumes the development of life from non–life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) "descent with modification". That is, complex creatures evolve from more simplistic ancestors naturally over time... Over time, beneficial mutations accumulate and the result is an entirely different organism (not just a variation of the original, but an entirely different creature). (allaboutscience.org) I have observed several testimonies from both sides of the debate, that evolution leaves no room for creation to be possible. When I consider Darwin's idea "that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor," I see the possibility that evolution does indeed leave room for creation. In the book of Genesis, the bible states God made man in his image, and the animals and vegetation it their image. So why could God, not be scientifically considered to be our ancestor? So what is Creationism? Since it is not presently not learned at public school, in a nutshell, it is the theory that God or some form of supernatural intelligence created mankind and the habitat which mankind would survive, called earth. Mankind makes creations out of materials that already exist, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Theories on Evolution of Species What is Evolution? It "is the process by which modern organisms have descended from ancient ancestors" [1]. Many great scientists have developed theories to answer the question, "Where did life, and human beings, come from?" Two major theories of evolution that still exist, and valid today are Charles Darwin's theory, and Lamarck's theory. These two theories have many differences, but attempt to explainevolution. Charles Robert Darwin, was a naturalist, who proposed one of the most renowned theories of evolution; the theory of "Natural Selection". Darwin published his work of evolution through his book, The Origin of Species and describes the process of evolution as the "survival of the fittest". There are four processes to Natural Selection – Variation, Inheritance, Time and Selection. Variation is individuals' genetic makeup can vary within a population. Variation can occur three ways; sex (the independent assortment of and recombination of genes through meiosis and other processes), gene flow ("movement of genes from one population to another")[2] and random mutation. Inheritance is the inheritance of genetic traits from parent to offspring. Time is the timeframe where evolutionary changes, such as speciation, can happen. Selection is "survival of the fittest", where the favourable genes dominate the population. The peppered moth is an animal, which follows Darwin's theory. However, the philosophical "theory" of evolution has no solid evidence, whereas creation can be proven. Science is supposed to be based on observation, right? The best theories satisfy the test of experimentation. No one can test if evolution happened. Non one can prove that evolution actually happened. But what evidence can we place against evolution? In 1859, Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, introducing the theory of evolution. One hundred and fifty–six years later, scientists still accept this senseless philosophy. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay states, "Our school systems teach the children that they are nothing but glorified apes who are evolutionized out of some primordial soup" (Snyder). Schools worldwide have presented exactly this to the young, impressionable minds of your future doctors, engineers, scientists, and presidents. They assure us that if we give a small amount of mud enough time it can, by itself, bring about the art of da Vinci, the plays of Shakespeare, the music of Mozart, and the brilliant mind of Einstein. I would like you to take just a moment and think about this: For the smallest free–living thing to duplicate itself would need 239 separate protein molecules, each of which require at least 410 amino acids. • 15. The Theories Of Evolution Of The Human Population The Theories of Evolution The human population has always wondered where they came from, or how they came to be. Why do they have certain characteristics that distinguish them from other species, or how did they acquire these characteristics? Why do they have similar traits to other species? There are many questions about the existence of the human population that they would love to have the answer to. Unfortunately, there is not an answer that is a proven fact. Luckily, there are theories that try to explain where humans and other species evolved from. The two well–known theories of evolution are accredited to Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. Jean Baptiste Lamarck developed the theory of acquired characteristics, which is often known as Lamarckism (Stanford 17). Lamarck's theory stated that, "all organisms make adjustments to their environment during their lifetime that could be passed on to their offspring, making those offspring better adapted to their environment" (Stanford 17). Lamarck says that organisms adapt to their environment during their lives and the characteristics that they acquire during their lifetime are passed off to their offspring; The offspring are now better adapted to the environment. Charles Darwin had a different approach in his theory of evolution. Darwin believed in his theory of evolution by natural selection. Natural selection is the idea that "individuals with favorable variations would survive and reproduce, but those with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A few nice examples of proof of evolution are, DNA Sequences, Anatomical structures, embryological developement, analogous structures, and fossil records. What is Evolution? Evolution is "the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth." (oxforddictionaries) The evolutional theory has many sources of proof. Starting with DNA Sequences. How scientists can infer that animal are have a common ancestor by DNA sequences. In DNA sequences scientists look at the patterns and common genes that appear in animals that they have in common to see if far down the road they had a common ancestor. A common ancestor can also lead to something like a Homologous structure. A homologous structure is a structure that animals have in common. For an example, humans, bats, rabbits, frogs, penguins, they have a similar arm bone structure.(evolution.berkeley) Homologous structures could be evidence of common ancestry, and common DNA Sequences for skeletal structure. Animals that have a common DNA sequences could end up with the same bones but built slightly different. • 17. Evolution : Charles Darwin And The Theory Of Evolution Evolution is one of the most controversial topics in modern history. Charles Darwin is the name that some scientists' praise and some Christians despise. Whether or not one believes in the theory of evolution, it has a history preceding and continuing before and after the days of Darwin. The history of the evolutionary theory is a complex and progressing topic that even today continues to be analyzed and debated. Few words in the English language carry as much controversy as the word evolution. The word evolution refers to the process occurs in all living organisms to develop, diversify, and adapt from earlier forms. Although the word evolution is synonymous withCharles Darwin, it can trace its roots to the Greek. The theory of evolution is similar to the word evolution in that it may be synonymous with Darwin, but it can trace its history much further back in time. Non–creationist concepts of how nature evolves can be traced all the way back to the works of Empedocles, a Greek philosopher. Empedocles writings on cosmogony dates back to before 430BC. His writing is believed to be part of the foundation for the future of evolutionary research. Leucippus, another Greek philosopher, is believed to be the first to propose the idea that everything is made up of imperishable atoms. His proposal led to Democritus and himself forming the concept of the mechanical evolution of nature. The two Greek philosophers proposed how bodies come into existence from atoms. One of the many examples that support this idea that organisms evolve and change over time is the finding of the Tiktaalik; though it is an unknown species it has traits that are similar to reptiles, amphibians, and birds that exist today. Because of fossil findings like the Tiktaalik scientists no longer have doubts about evolution and it's continuing occurrence (Alberto 2008). In the 20th century, with the development of the science of genetics biologists began understanding the mechanics of how traits are passed down to different generations and how they are altered through the discovery of DNA and its major importance. They learned that parts of DNA from each parent are passed down to the offspring. Mutations of DNA, which cause alterations of species, can also occur when traits are being passed down to the offspring. Mutations in DNA can cause the offspring to have difficulties surviving and eventually lead to the extinction of the species. On the other hand, mutation of DNA can affect the offspring positively and change its traits to be stronger and a better survivor in that certain environment which would eventually lead to a growth in population of the certain species. Mutations in DNA can also be neutral and have no effect of the offspring's traits. This battle with nature and survival through DNA lead to the foundation of the idea of Natural Selection (Alberto 2008). Natural selection is "survival of the fittest", the ... There is estimated to be between 6 million and 100 million different species in the world, with more species undiscovered than those discovered; this is all owing to the concept of evolution (Borenstein, S. 2014). Evolution is defined as the "change in the characteristics of a species over many generations (Linstead, 2012)." The most widely accepted theory of evolution is natural selection, which is the "process where an environmental factor acts on a population and results in some organisms having more offspring than others (Linstead, 2012)." There are three main scientists whose works contributed to the now–orthodox theory of natural selection; Jean–Baptiste Lamarck, Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace. Jean–Baptiste Lamarck Lamarck (1744 – 1829) was a French Biologist with a thorough knowledge of medicine and botany. He also recognised the similarities of species and came to the assumption that "life was not fixed (Florida State University, 2014)." He developed the first comprehensive theory of evolution (Wagner, J. 2013). He continued to contribute to the cell theory and suggested an alternative evolution hypothesis based on "acquired characteristics". His mechanism was open–minded; believing that organisms had an "obsession to be perfect (Unknown, 2011)." When environments modified, organisms needed to alter themselves in order to survive. It was believed that if beings continued to use an organ more than they had previously, it would increase in size throughout its lifetime and vice versa (Strickberger, M. 2014). Second part "Evolution Occurs by Natural Selection" natural selection is the process in which living things with beneficial traits produce more off spring than others which results in changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its environment can help it survive over time. Evolution by natural selection is one of the best substantiated theories in the history of science due to is evidence from paleontology, geology, genetics, to developmental biology. But over time it can become bigger it can create new species, known as "macroevolution." Darwin did know anting about anything about genetics or how much it effects it how things works. That came later, with the discovery of how genes encode different biological or behavioral traits, and how genes are passed down from parents to offspring. The incorporation of genetics and Darwin's theory is known as "modern evolutionary synthesis." The way physical and behavioral changes that make natural selection possible goes to DNA and genes. When it changes its known as mutations. "Mutations are basically the raw material on which evolution acts," Pobiner said. Mutations can be caused by random errors in DNA replication or repair, or by chemical or radiation damage. Most times, mutations are either harmful or neutral, but in rare instances, a mutation might prove beneficial to the organism. • 28. Theories Of Evolution Evolution is the process in which organisms descend from ancestors. Evolution is responsible for some of the various similarities seen through biological life, and it also explains all of the diversity in organisms and species. There are various components of evolution: descent, mutation, natural selection, genetic variation, genetic drift and coevolution. All of these components are extremely fundamental to evolution because Darwin's theory of evolution states that all species and organisms have arisen and developed due to material stemming from natural selection of petite inherited variations that can increase the ability for said organism to survive, reproduce, etc. This theory states that the changes that have occurred through mutation is beneficial, harmful, or neutral. If changes in an organisms DNA is harmful then the odds of that organism surviving/reproducing/ etc is unlikely. Some may think of this concept as survival of the fittest. Mutations tend to make the evolution process speed up which means that new genes are added to a species' gene pool. This is beneficial to an extent when it comes to organisms that have many dangerous genes and factors that can cause their offspring to mutate and continue to reproduce organisms with less than mutations. While being very different areas of study, they all share a core idea. This idea is that cells duplicate, and sometimes experience random mutations. From this very basic idea, scientists can theorize that all life on earth came from one or a few very simple cells, and are related through this. But the diversity of life today also shows how these related cell groups evolved and changed. Cell theory is the scientific knowledge that cells can only come from other cells. Years ago, when the idea of spontaneous generation was disproved, a new theory came into play and allowed scientists to learn that cells split and duplicate, sometimes experiencing random genetic mutations. This led to the question: if all cells come from other cells, then where did the very first cell come from? An example of this is albinism which has altered the genes of several different animals. Evolution has been debated for many years. Most scientists assume evolution to be true, but it is not officially proven. Evolution is known as "fact and theory," because it is a fact that organisms have changed over time, but the mechanism that changes those organisms is uncertain. One of the major debates regarding evolution is the belief in creationism. Creationists believe that the Universe and organisms on Earth were all created by a divine power. There are also some theories in which creationism and evolution coexist. One idea is that the divine being who created the world used evolution as a method. Another idea is that science and religion are actually the same thing and religion explains the unknown parts of science. For example, science says that the world couldn't have been created in seven days, but one of God's days may not be the same length ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Is Evolution Theory True Evolution theory is not true because it gives a vague explanation of how the world developed to be what it is today and it also fails to explain why it is no longer going on today. As absurd as it is there are people in the world today who believe it majority of them being atheist. There have been attempts to dethrone God from His rightful position as a creator and at the helm of this is evolution theory. The bible clearly states that the world is 6,000 years today but when you read scientific articles it will tell you the world has been in existence for billions of years. There are mysteries in nature that show that God exists and how He affects our daily life. For instance, the electrifying eel can generate up to 600 Volts of electrical ... • 37. Evolution : Fact And Theory Evolution What is evolution? Is it a theory or is it based on facts? Many people think that it is both a fact and a theory. We all seek to find an explanation for life as we know it. We all want to understand how it all began. Creationist believes that the world was created in six days by a supreme being referred to as God. Many scientists report that there is plenty of evidence to prove that all living things have evolved, and reference examples such as evidence from fossils that indicates similarities to ancient creatures, and evidence from genetics to prove all living things share the same basic heredity by using DNA to prove that genes are passed from the parent to their offspring. According to Richard E. Lenski, author ofEvolution : Fact and Theory, "Evolution is an incontrovertible fact that organisms have changed, or evolved, during the history of life on Earth" (Lenski, p. 1). There are four major patterns that manifest in nature. These patterns are genetic variation which means that no two individuals have the same DNA; adaptations which are what makes a species so well adapted to its environment; divergence meaning the species are grouped into families; and fossil species which is the mineralized impressions of once living organisms. There have been many changes since the first life forms were documented. The changes occur from mutation when the DNA is not copied perfectly and it leads to a difference between the parent and their offspring. "Biological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Theory of Evolution Essay The ongoing scientific investigation of how exactly evolution occurred and continues to occur has been an argumentative idea amongst society since Darwin first articulated it over a century ago. The scientific basis of evolution accounts for happenings that are also essential concerns of religion; both religion and science focus on the origins of humans and of biological diversity. For instance, in the reading "Truth Cannot Contradict Truth," Pope John Paul II, addressing the Pontifical Academy of Science, discussed the matter of God as creator of man. The Pope explains that men cannot relate to animals because men are superior. The reasoning for that is because God created humans under his likeness. What the church is saying about mankind ... Scientists call this reproductive success. "Within a specific environment context, one genotype will be better than another genotype in survival or reproduction for certain reasons having to do with the way its particular features relate to the environment or relate to other organisms within the population" (Futuyma, 2000–2014). The theory of evolution is explicable through various kinds of scientific research. In the science of paleontology, the history of life is studied. Paleontologists study fossils to learn the past ecologies, evolution, and the origins of humans. In order to understand the processes that have led to both the origination and destruction of organisms since life began, paleontologists incorporate both scientific knowledge and studies. Fossil findings are critically important for confirming predictions of evolution theory. Of the many discoveries that are made yearly to add depth to the understanding of evolution, an example is a recent discovery of a creature they named Tiktaalik. The Tiktaalik was uncovered to be a transitional animal between shallow–water fishes and limbed animals. The creature supports the idea that it emerged from both mammals and reptiles, suggesting that the two are related. These findings support prediction of evolution, contradicting the belief that God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Darwin 's Theory Of Evolution Darwin first presented his theory of evolution by natural selection through his book called 'On the Origin of Species'. The book was released in 1859 and it explained the process of how organisms changed over time through the result of changes in heritable physical or behavioural traits. These changes allow an organism to adapt to the environment that it inhabits so that the organism's chances of survival improve and produce more offspring (Than, 2015). However, biological evolution does not simply mean a change over time. It is believed that the central idea of biological evolution is that all organisms on Earth share a common ancestor (Understanding Evolution, 2015). Darwin's theory 'presumes the development of life from non–life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) 'descent with modification'' (All About Science, 2015). Mutations that aid the survival of an organism are preserved and that is a process called natural selection. The beneficial mutations are passed on to the next generation and over time, the beneficial mutations accumulate and the result is variation between organisms (All About Science, 2015). The fact that there are numerous species that are living and extinct shows that there must have been a reason why one organism had the ability to survive and the other did not. Their survival depended on their adaptability to their environment (American Museum of Natural History, 2015). HYPOTHESIS Since the technology was poor, it was difficult to support ...
