The document provides a detailed analysis of the front cover, content page, and double page spread (DPS) of a Billboard magazine issue.
The front cover uses bold colors and images of music producers to attract readers' attention. The content page lists articles in columns with a large main image representing the lead section.
The analyzed DPS focuses on two famous music producers with large images and minimal text. Dark colors and poses portray the producers' authority in the industry.
In 3 sentences or less, the document analyzes design elements and layout choices across the magazine's front materials to engage readers and represent the issue's content.

3. DETAILED ANALYSIS OF
FRONT COVER
In the front cover all the articles that are mentioned are also mentioned in more detail in the content
page and they also have the page number listed too, this is the relationship between the front cover
and the content pages.
The colour red represents danger and in in the writing above the master head is partly red, “URBAN
POWER LIST”. This is because billboard want‟s to emphasis the amount of power Cash Money (an
urban record label) and that their dangerous in the music industry.
The two music producers, “slim” and “birdman” are starring right at the camera when this picture
was taken to interact with the audience. This is because if their looking through the front cover to
the potential billboard readers that look at the front cover of this issue of billboard. The main image
in the front cover are a visual representation of the main story in this weeks article of billboard. The
main image of the two producers of Cash Money in front of the master head, and this is because
the artists that are being featured in this issue of Billboard are more important than the actual logo
of the magazine. This is only because Billboard is so recognised by loads of people that they don‟t
really need to show their logo as much but they do need to show the artists face and name on the
front cover, to attract more readers.
The main colours of this front cover are Black, Red and yellow.
The website and date are ladled on the front cover for the reader to get more information on this
issue and the price of the magazine is on top of the barcode.
Mise-en-scen, The body language of the artists on the front cover is very tough because one of the
featured artist is holding his hands together and looking upwards to portray his power in the music
industry and the other one is standing right behind him looking straight at the camera with his body
slightly turned as if he were the smaller artists backup.

5. DETAILED ANALYSIS OF
CONTENT PAGE
Only one page is used for the content page and only some editorial items are listed.
There‟s only 5sections in the content pages and their listed so that the most popular
one is at the top. This is because when the large majority of Billboards readership buy
and read the magazine , they will expect their favourite section which contains their
favourite article, to be at the top.
The order of the sections are: “Features”,” Albums”, “Artists”, “Songs” and “This week
on .Biz”.
Columns are used in the list of names for all the articles because it makes it easier for
the reader to identify where their favourite article is and what page is it on. The columns
are also used to isolated that piece of text to all the others on the content page
because it‟s the most important part of text to read.
In the content page the main picture represents the main section which is “Features”,
and the smaller images represent the less popular sections. In the main image there is
a guy named Zac Brown and he is an artist who is playing the guitar while singing in
that picture. This picture is a mid shot which is taken at an eye level angle. This picture
is very bright with colours and it makes the reader focused of the artist. I believe he is
in a concert because of the nice lighting and bold colours.
What‟s mentioned on the front cover is listed on the content page but with the page
number and a small summary too, and this is done so that the readers can find their
favourite article. That is the relationship between the front over and the content page
The website and date are ladled on the content page for the reader to get more

DETAILED ANALYSIS OF DPS
The piece of featured article that I have analysed is about two very famous and rich record producers, that are brothers and that
they have created the most famous record label in all time. After 20years of hard work now they are offering their “universal deal”
and they are expecting to get “billions” of “dollars” for this because their record label is the most powerful label in the music
industry today. This piece of featured article isn't really structured in the normally as if it had a beginning, middle and end to the
context, and this is because this article is mostly about the two main pictures of the record producers and not the context. This is
why the main body of text is so small and the images are extremely large.
The tone of this DPS is very dull dark and this is because of the dark background colours that have been used and the clothes
that they are wearing is very smart clothing. This is expected of these two producers of Cash Money. The mode of address is
very formal and clear to the point, this is because „Billboard‟ wants to build the awareness of Cash Money‟s success.
This DPS targets their audience by using very dark and mundane colours to attract rap lovers to this article about music
producers who specialise in this genre. These colours are very important for this type of genre.
The article has been laid out so that there is one little column which contains some text and two very large images with a
caption on top of one, and there is also a cover line above the text. The main colours of this featured article are very dark and
rough.
The images consists of one close mid shot and one mid shot of the two producers. The first producer on the left of the DPS is
starring right at the camera because he wants to interact with the reader but the second producer on the left is looking
downwards and I think this is because he wants to show off his large collection of tattoos.
The background of these images are very dark and old as if they took the pictures in an old building with its dirty rough walls
showing. This might portray what they life was like before they created this big record label. That is one hidden connotation of
this DPS.
The two pictures of the producers have been taken at a difference place and they haven't been placed together so that they fit. I
could tell this from the different looking background of each of the images. This might be because they might not like being at the
same place at the same time and this might be because of the fact that their brothers but it also could be because of the fact that
they are so busy doing stuff that they had their shoots at different times.
Mise-en-scen, slim who is the smaller featured artist who is standing up and looking straight at the readers while leaning back is
portraying his authority he has between the two of them in cash money records and also the power he has in the music industry
because he leaning back on a desk which makes him look very calm and collective. Birdman who is the bigger one is looking
downwards with his hand on his chin which makes him look like he's thinking about something as if he is the brains between the
two producers and that he makes cash money records work.
8. Short description of their magazine for businesses to read
when they want to advertise their business on this
magazine.
Billboard describes their readers in short simple
sentences which contain some statistics on specific stuff,
like age, household income, occupation. These are the
type of stuff business want to look at when they are
decsding on wheater they should advertise their business
on this music magazine. They want to look at this becaue
they would compare Billboard’s readers with the
audiecne they are tring to target.
71% of Billboards readers are aged 25-54 and this fact
could be useful to businesses but the age difference is a
bit too large, they should have narrowed it down a little.
This fact is very useful because if a business is right next
to a university it would be very wise for them to advertise
on this music magazine to maximise their awareness.
This average household income is very useful to
businesses that require a lot of money for their services.
The fact that 37% of Billboards readers keep the annual
double year end issue for a year is a very useful piece of
information for businesses that are looking into
advertising their business on Billboard because if they
were to have an advert on this issue of Billboard they will
keep their advert for a whole.
Billboard uses these images of the front
cover of their popular issues to show off to
these potential partnerships with businesses
and make them see what exactly they are in
for if they were to advertise their business on
this magazine..
