2. Positive points about my front cover
Coverline to show the
reader what is included
within the magazine
Puff directly addresses
the reader and allows
them to connect to the
magazine. The word
“official” gives the
magazine a statement
but also a sense of status
in the way it is the
ultimate guide available
relating to high school
Plug attracts
reader with a free
giveaway and links
into the magazine
with the theme of
school equipment
and states its page
number so its easy
to find
Masthead relates to the reader
(most likely being a student) and
states literally the essence of the
magazine

3. Negative points about my front cover
Negative space is unrealistic for
a professional magazine as a
typical well-known magazine
would have filled the space with
extra coverline’s relating to the
magazines information
Framed picture with
background is unprofessional
as typically a picture would
become the background along
with the coverline’s and
masthead being placed on top
of the image
Masthead font is very unusual and not
normally suited for a professional magazine.
The way the font is rippled makes it seem like
a joke type magazine which could man that
the reader would not take it as a serious
informative magazine
Masthead size is not the same height as a
professional magazines would be as it
typically covers a third of the front cover

4. Positive points about my contents page
The colour scheme of the
page relates to the school
uniform of William de Ferrers
making it more pleasing to
the eye
The use of the school logo is
recognisable to my demographic
Typography used makes it easy for
the reader to view as well as stating
the pages clearly so that my
demographic to skip to the pages
which matter to them
The
photo:text
ratio is
even
making the
page visual
as well as
functional

5. Negative points about my contents page
Images tend to be of top quality whereby
they were taken in focus revealing to the
reader the realness of the image and
environment
Number of pages is unrealistic as a
typical magazine would have multiple
pages and would state minor information
The cropping of the images
isn’t professional as they have
to much space within them
that isn’t people
Images aren’t balanced
on the page and
doesn’t create a sense
of symmetry that a
normal magazine
would as it is more
pleasing to the eye

6. Tools used on my Front cover
I used the cropping tool to crop
my image, barcode and school
logo
I used the gradient tool to make my
background go from dark green and
fade into white to represent the school
colours
I used the colour tool to choose
the colours for my text and my
background shades
