There are many different ways a magazine can be distributed. For
example;
 Through downloadable online issues. This has many advantages as it
attracts younger audiences as most of them use online networking. This
is useful to my own magazine as my audience are teenagers and young
adults. Using the internet can also be environmentally friendly as less
paper is being used to make the magazines. It’s inexpensive, therefore
meaning the company saves money. Online issues also keep up with
competition with other magazines as technology is advancing.
 Retail shops are the most common distribution of magazines. Popular
shops that sell these are WHSmith, Newsagents and supermarkets.
Magazines are also sold in chain supermarkets such as Sainsbury's,
Tesco etc. The advantages of selling magazines here is that it reaches a
more wider range of audience. Therefore meaning most people have
seen the magazine.
A company’s publisher distributes it’s magazines to their target customers.
Publishers need to ensure that the magazine is suitable for the target
audience. This is important as it could depend on how well the product
sells in the market. The magazine that I created would be sold by a
publisher for example; Immediate Media Company. This is the current
publisher of Top of the Pops magazine. This magazine is what inspired
the creation of my own magazine so I can ensure that this publisher
would deliver the product to the correct audience!
19 million people worldwide read magazines published by Immediate Media
Company. This is an advantage for my magazine as it has a higher chance
of being successful in the media. Also, my magazine is targeted towards
teenagers and adults which is the prime ages that use media platforms.
Immediate Media Company offers to publish across a range of digital
platforms and business models. This ensures that my audience would
increase as many of them use these technology platforms. Immediate
Media s distribution will allow my magazine to appeal to all ages in the
audience as most of them use online networking.
