The group was tasked with creating a sample magazine for Wanstead Sixth Form. Their initial ideas included naming the magazine after the school ("Steadnews") and using maroon and squares for the design. They planned to fund the magazine through ads from local businesses and include school news, sports, trips and games in the monthly issues. Feedback from others helped them refine the colors, content and name - opting for "SixMix" as it represented a mix of news and fun. The group divided responsibilities for the first few pages among the members. The magazine was aimed to be suitable for all sixth formers by including content for everyone.
2. Brief
The Brief for this unit of work was to create a new magazine for
Wanstead sixth form, the magazine is just a sample magazine of
different pages. I am in a group to make this sample magazine.
This unit gives us a different look in the media, as our units have more
been about analysis more or filming where this is creating it for
ourselves

3. Initial Ideas
• Our initial ideas for our magazine name were all to mention
Wanstead or a slang word for Wanstead for example “Steadnews”
“Wanstead News”.
• The idea for the style of our magazine was originally all maroon
with the heron and have everything in squares to be squared off.
• The funding’s of it would be through advertisement from places
such as Art shop, Daisy, BBQ Express, Londis and Costa. We
choose these places on the high street because these are the
places what are used by Wanstead high school students daily.
• The frequency of the magazine would be a monthly, as the
information within the magazine wouldn’t change over a week.
• The contents we would want to insert into the magazine is
information about School shows, school teams, school trips,
university, jack petchey award, games and memories. we thought
of this as it is a mix of news and fun/ games within the magazine.
4. Feedback
• The audience feedback we got helped us a lot with the colours,
what information could be involved in the magazine. Another
thing they helped us with is what to call it. With the colour
people mentioned the colour white, black and maroon a lot. This
help us with what colours to use within our newspaper.
• People said that they would want information about school as
well as having things what included the students and also games
within the magazine.
• The name of our magazine came from what people wanted in
our magazine as people were saying call it “Sixth form
information” “Sixth News” these helped us come up with
“SixMix” as it’s a mix of news and also fun stuff.
9. Suitability
• This magazine will be suitable to Wanstead sixth form as
it will be a mix of everything for everyone this makes
people want to read it more as it has things in it for
everyone but also it has activities people would want to
do. For example play the games or have a laugh about the
memories with friends and finally find the look-a- likes
funny and create their own look alikes.
