Or, is it our approaches to learning and our understanding of what constitutes training that is now out of step with the needs we claim to address? Siemens and Wegner, familiar to VET practitioners on the Australian conference circuit 2005-2006, promote connectivism-network learning theory, and communities of practice respectively as relevant alternatives to traditional classroom learning. The company never applied conventional designs and it had no predetermined communication channels or chains of command (Intergrative Case 1.0, n.d). Each team member had the freedom to communicate with anyone. Since the organization lacked a formal design, the associates were obliged to develop their network using personal relationships. It was every employee's responsibility to grow connections and build their base with regards to their initiative. The relationships were formed at all levels from the associates to the customers, vendors and the immediate community. Their organizational design also affected the running of different departments in the organization. The entity was divided into four divisions, the industrial products, medical products, electronic goods and fabrics. The entity had small business units focused on the products and receiving support from the functions of the entire company to allow smooth operation on a daily basis. Business units were limited to their level of growth. The entity believed in the division to promote multiplication and growth. However, this model of organization was not guaranteed to work in all regions on the globe. The level of autonomy would be affected by different cultures around the world. Besides, intercommunications between the various nations would pose a challenge. 2. What should Gore do to build effective global teams? Gore should uphold its model of promoting freedom and autonomy. Freedom maximizes the team members' efforts and output when handled appropriately. However, Gore should identify the barriers that exist between national and international boundaries. Some of the obstacles include communication, perception, and harmony within the company. African Americans men are at a greater risk for developing prostate cancer than the white men. In every six individuals from this ethnic group, there is one who is at risk of developing prostate cancer in their lifetime. African Americans are 1.8 times more exposed to the risk of developing the disease and 2.2 times more likely succumb from this disease as compared to white men. The increase in the higher risk of prostate cancer among Africa Americans is linked to socioeconomic status. There is a lower socioeconomic status of African Americans and this exposing to high cases of prostate cancer as a result of poor medical check-up and poor healthcare outcomes (Owens et al., 2014). There are also racial biases and this is harming African Americans in terms of preventive care since they have lower chances of being provided with the PSA test. Recent studies reveal that men from this ethnic group are unlikely to have early diagnosis for the prostate cancer. They are also not likely to be treated in time for the disease like the white men. There are several treatment options and learning sources about the options for prostate cancer. Therefore, the evidence-based, primary care health promotion recommendation to deal with prostate cancer among African Americans involves the prevention programs that are tailored to African Americans to help in the reduction of health disparities (Jackson, Owens, Friedman, & Dubose-Morris, 2015). There is a need to incorporate culturally suitable and targeted messages and the images, the performance of faith-based initiatives, and the delivery of the educational programs in non-traditional venues for example the common place where people gather. It is also important to include key partners and the stakeholder in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the health and the cancer educational programs to help in the improvement of the health of the community and supporting community engagement. The development of the IDM education program for African American families through working with the community and the clinical partners is helping in the reduction of prostate cancer diseases (Jackson et al., 2015). He complained of a sore throat for 3 days. He denied recent cold, influenza, ear infections, or allergies. Redness, +3 tonsil edema, positive anterior and posterior cervical adenopathy, low-grade temperature, and pharyngeal exudate were noted by the practitioner on the exam. A diagnosis of Strep Throat was confirmed by a positive rapid strep throat culture. Penicillin was prescribed. Strep Throat is not a genetic disorder, but an infectious one caused by A. Streptococcus bacteria. It is not gender-specific. Strep throat most commonly occurs during the late winter or early spring months as a direct result of people being grouped closely together indoors allowing it to spread easily via direct contact (American Academy of Family Physicians, 2016). The patient’s symptomology and positive culture confirm that he was infected by A. Streptococcus bacteria. His body’s response to A. Streptococcus bacteria is the body’s initial inflammatory response to this bacteria; redness, swelling, heat, and pain (Kahn Academy, 2010). The patient’s anaphylactic response to penicillin was mediated by ‘IgE antibodies that are produced by the immune system in response to an environmental allergen’ (Justiz-Vaillant & Zito, 2019). These allergens include pollens, animal dander, dust mites or fungi (Justiz-Vaillant & Zito, 2019). The patient’s anaphylactic response to penicillin, a fungus, was unknown prior to its administration. When a bacterial infection occurs, the body releases mast cells that are activated by chemokines to attack the infection (Kahn Academy, 2010). Histamine is released causing vasodilation (Kahn Academy, 2010). Endothelial cells are pushed apart and capillaries become larger and dilated, causing swelling to occur (Kahn Academy, 2010). The capillary walls become more porous allowing more cells to pass through them (Kahn Academy, 2010). Neutrophils act as the first responders and are attracted to the chemokines (Kahn Academy, 2010). They roll along the endothelial wall, squeezing through to eat up bacteria and damaged cells (Kahn Academy, 2010). Specific action via B and T cells are also activated to attack and destroy the bacteria (Kahn Academy, 2010). The patient's anaphylactic response, Type I hypersensitivity reaction, to IgE antibodies is produced by the ‘immune system in response to environmental allergens’ (Justiz-Vaillant & Zito, 2019). If left untreated, it can result in a life-threatening or irreversible injury that includes death (Justiz-Vaillant & Zito, 2019). Program code examples (known also as worked examples) play a crucial role in learning how to program. Instructors use examples extensively to demonstrate the semantics of the programming language being taught and to highlight the fundamental coding patterns. Programming textbooks allocate considerable space to present and explain code examples. To make the process of studying code examples more interactive, CS education researchers developed a range of tools to engage students in the study of code examples. These tools include codecasts (codemotion,codecast,elicasts), interactive example explorers (WebEx, PCEX), and tutoring systems (DeepTutor). An important component in all types of worked examples is code explanations associated with specific code lines or code chunks of an example. The explanations connect examples with general programming knowledge explaining the role and function of code fragments or their behavior. In textbooks, these explanations are usually presented as comments in the code or as explanations on the margins. The example explorer tools allow students to examine these explanations interactively. Tutoring systems, which engage students in explaining the code, use these model explanations to check student responses and provide scaffolding. In all these cases, to make a worked example re-usable beyond its presentation in a lecture, the explanations have to be authored by instructors or domain experts i.e., produced and integrated into a specific system. As the experience of the last 10 years demonstrated, these explanations are hard to obtain. Those already collected are usually “locked” in a specific example-focused system and can’t be reused. The purpose of this working group is to support broader re-used of worked examples augmented with explanations. Our current plan is to develop а standard approach to represent explained examples. This approach will enable an example created for any of the existing systems to be explored in a standard format and imported into any other example-focused system. We plan to follow a successful experience of the PEML working group focused on re-using programming exercises.
