Walt Disney Swot Analysis Essay
Strengths
1) Strong item portfolio: Walt Disney's items incorporate telecast telecom company ABC and link
systems, for example, Disney Channel or ESPN, which is a standout amongst the most viewed link
arranges on the planet. Joining the noteworthy crowd scope of these link systems, (ESPN has almost
300 million and Disney Channel 240 million supporters) and the strong development of digital TV,
Disney's item portfolio gives an upper hand to the organization over its rivals.
2) Brand notoriety: Walt Disney brand has been known for over 90 years in US and has been
broadly perceived around the world, particularly because of its Disney Channel, Disney Park resorts
and films from Walt Disney studios. The organization is seen as the essential family ... Show more

Other than the parks and resorts, organization's motion pictures and buyer items are adjusted for
Chinese business to draw in more guests. This is once in a while started by the film studio itself and
is something that couple of different studios are doing.
Weaknesses
1) Heavy reliance on wage from North America: Although, Disney works in more than 200 nations,
it intensely relies on upon US and Canada markets for its pay. More than 70% of the business the
incomes originate from only us, while the major Disney's rival News Corporation gets under 50% of
incomes from US, rolling out it less defenseless against improvements in US advertise.
2) Few open doors for huge development through acquisitions –The Walt Disney Company is the
biggest excitement supplier on the planet and has gotten to be so because of securing of contenders.
The last Disney's procurement must be sanction by Federal Trade Commission so that the
organization wouldn't need to manage antitrust issues. This implies that the span of the Disney's
business has turned into a sympathy toward the administration because of noteworthy business
sector fixation and that the organization has not very many chances to procure contenders.
Something else, Disney may turn into a subject to antitrust

Analysis Of Star Wars
Star Wars: A Fantasy Not So Far From Reality
Star Wars, the single most recognizable science fiction experience to the date, hides a substantial
amount of real life issues, and borrows a great deal from real life history. While feasting these
senses, a lot can be gained by analyzing the saga, specifically A New Hope and The Phantom
Menace by George Lucas. Ironic themes exist in the saga in the likes of an oppressive government,
the horrid results of such governments, a strong presence of theology–all which demonstrates
parallelism of real life; borrowing from some of history's most notable governments, events, and
theologies. From the first installment of Star Wars, it is overtly operant of George Lucas' intentions

War, murder, and neglect all chief contributors to this astounding death toll backed by the nefarious
likes of Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and vast number of omitted others due to the
length of the proverbial list. In Lucas' first film, A New Hope, the empire destroys an entire planet,
annihilating countless lives, and shows a distasteful lack of morality. A simple theme here–genocide
and utter disregard for human life, and the dangerous of such power in the wrong hands. Lucas plays
heavily on the audiences' emotions with the destruction of the planet Aldaaran. The decision to
destroy the planet is made over a strategic demonstration of force and to leverage to get the Rebel
princess, Leigh, to divulge information (Episode I). The dramatic screenplay displays a force with
overwhelming power and how dangerous it could be in the hands of force not checked, and likely
has an inspired parallel event and a cautionary tale of what the future may hold. August 6, 1945,
Hiroshima, around 8:15 AM, nearly 80,000 people face the wrath of United States, and pay with
their lives to a bomb nicknamed "little boy". Another is dropped, "fat man", and another 36,00
perish (Shi 1127). The events that unfolded that day have been, and will continue to be argued for
eternity, however, ethics aside, draws strong connections to a growing militarized world and the
concern that comes with such advancements. In modern times, the aforementioned

The American Film Industry
The American film industry is one of the most far reaching and influential businesses in today's
world. Movies constantly spawn franchises which have die–hard fans lined up for hours just to get a
ticket for a movie that is months away. The celebrities in our movies are elevated to a position of
super–fame. It is the nature to a human to adapt to conditions over a given period of time.
Adaptation continues through into our entertainment as well. Audiences are becoming accustomed
to seeing the same things on the screen over and over again. Filmmakers are constantly trying to
keep audiences entertained, which is becoming an increasingly difficult task. Today's general film–
going audience quickly becomes bored and seeks more stimulation from the movies.
Computer generated images or CGI has been a chief method to keep modern audiences entertained,
while being cost effective to practical effects. With the recent use of CGI in movies, anything has
become possible. The use for practical effects is minimal to nearly non–existent since Jurassic Park
and Terminator 2 first showed the wide spectrum of what was possible. It is increasingly common
for films to focus more on the visual effects, than the story of the film itself. Some notable examples
of this are the Transformers series of movies, and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In the
Transformers series the films focus on the action scenes of CGI robots. Human characters in this
story often take a back seat to their film

Case Study On Pixar
Introduction
Pixar is a CGI (computer generated images) feature film movie and visual effects production
company based in Emeryville, California. Pixar is also the developer and producer of the industry
standard photorealistic 3D rendering software that makes computer generated animation possible.
The company was purchased by Disney in 2006 but operates as a separate entity.
Early History
According the to the company website, its origins go back as far as the 1970's. The company started
as a division of LucasFilm, when Ed Catmull was hired by George Lucas to develop computer
software for the film industry. Catmull had been in the business for many years as one of the
founders of Computer Graphic Lab with Alvy Ray Smith. These men are often ... Show more

Website IGN notes that: "Over the years, we've experienced a dissolution of the stigma once
attached to animation [...] Animation geared toward adults has been around for a long while – dating
back to '70s and '80s fare like Fritz the Cat, Heavy Metal and Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. Today, Adult
Swim provides us with pockets of ingenious alternative after hours comedy while franchise players
like The Simpsons, South Park and Family Guy continue to bring absurdist humour and parody to
the masses." The continued grown of this market segment will provide Disney Pixar an ever
increasing market into which they can position their feature film offerings. Rather than a challenge,
the proliferation of adult–targeted animation is a opportunity for Pixar.
Q 2: What results have come from creating a culture of creativity collaboration and teamwork at
Pixar?
By focusing on creativity, collaboration and teamwork, Pixar has been able to blend artistic,
technical, and business goals into a winning strategy. Creative problems are solved with technical
knowhow, which in turn is leveraged into a competitive business advantage. The push for innovation

Disney 's Roster Of Heroes
Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are joining Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Iron Man in Disney
's roster of heroes (USA Today). Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star Wars
creator George Lucas, set the financial world and nerd–universe on their ear when they announced
that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out–of–this–world sum of $4 billion (the same amount
they paid for Marvel) (Screenrant). Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary
Star Wars franchise to the entertainment giant 's stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by
founder George Lucas. The purchase culminates a one and a half year pursuit of the Lucas empire,
Disney 's CEO said (USA Today).
One weekend last October, Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Walt Disney (DIS), sat through all
six Star Wars films. He'd seen them before, of course. This time, he took notes. Disney was in secret
negotiations to acquire Lucasfilm, the company founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, and
Iger needed to do some due diligence (Bloomberg). Negotiation is one of the most important as well
as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. In industry and at
most levels of government, the term "negotiation" frequently causes misunderstandings. In industry,
negotiation sometimes is confused with "haggling" and "price chiseling." Increasingly, negotiations
are conducted by cross–functional teams. These teams must be well coordinated to function as an

"I didn't come all this way just to see you quit," this quote by the character Doc Hudson from Pixar's
animated movie, Cars, expresses the feeling Pixar based its company upon for the past twenty years.
Pixar has grown, and now, families around the world recognize the company's name. Over the years,
Pixar Animation Studios evolved from a small, amateur business into a large, thriving, world–
renowned company. Twenty years ago, George Lucas started a new division under Lucasfilm. The

Disney would also own marketing and licensing fees of the characters and films. Pixar was solely
responsible for the content and animation of the three full–length films. Together the alliance created
Toy Story, the first full–length computer–animated film. The film was nominated for several awards
including three Oscars and two Golden Globes. As the award nominations kept growing, the money
continued to flow into the company. Disney received the most profit from the movie, but Pixar
managed to negotiate with its partner to receive a part of the gross revenues from the box office and
video sales. Pixar made a profit from RenderMan and continued to receive awards for the program.
By 1995, Pixar sold over 100,000 copies and signed a huge licensing deal with Bill Gates and
Microsoft. The company announced it's first–ever profit of $3.1 million on revenues of $10.6
million. Prior to Thanksgiving, Toy Story went public and the company's success grew. The
company grossed $40 million in its first weekend premiere. The movie became the highest grossing
film in 1995 and received $362 million worldwide in domestic box office receipts. The following
year, Toy Story was released on video to the public, and Pixar was already immersed in the next
Disney movie, Bug's Life. (www.fundinguniverse.com, Pixar company history) Although Bob

Solo: A Star Wars Story
In July 2015, Lucasfilm announced the production of a standalone film detailing the origins of the
galaxy's most famous smuggler. Titled Solo: A Star Wars Story, the film set to release on May 25,
2018, but fans were starting to get nervous when February came and no footage had been released.
To the relief of Star Wars fans everywhere, the first Solo teaser debuted during the Super Bowl on
February 4 as the predecessor to a full trailer released on Good Morning America the following day.
Although the assurance that Solo was still on course to be released on Memorial Day eased the
minds of many, fans are also starting to worry about what they saw in the trailer. The primary
concern seems to lie in the portrayal of Han Solo. The scoundrel from a galaxy far, far away is one
of the most well known movie characters, even to those who aren't Star Wars fans, and his image is
distinctly the one created by Harrison Ford, so concern for how he would be recreated by another
actor came into play very early on after the movie was announced. ... Show more content on

For starters, Ehrenreich is only 7 years younger than Harrison Ford was in A New Hope, and
imagining his appearance changing that much in a reasonably short amount of time is far from an
easy task. The appearance is definitely a concern, but it would be forgivable if the acting were able
to make up for it. However, so far young Han doesn't seem to have the same natural charisma as
everyone's favorite nerf

Steve Jobs Impact
Steve Jobs had a tremendous impact on the technologic industry in more ways than just his
involvement with Apple. While personal computers were his primary focus early in his career with
the Apple 1 computer. However, he did not invent the Macintosh computer which followed the
Apple computer. That distinction belongs to a gentleman named Jeff Raskins. Jobs was however the
person who realized the mass potential of the Macintosh computer and he was responsible for the
marketing of the new technology, something he was exceptional gifted with. The driving technology
that Jobs identified was a new technologic advancement of Graphic User Interface (GUI) which
completely changed the computer industry (Johnson, 2011). GUI was a user to computer interface
type that allowed users to interact with their computer through a series of graphic icons and visual
indicators. This user interface type ultimately became the mainstay for all computer based platforms.

ability to see the vast potential of a product and he knew what people wanted, many times before the

stunning low price of $5 million dollars (Johnson, 2011). Part of Lucasfilm was a computer
animation company called Pixar. Jobs saw the potential in computer animation and he was able to
market this new technology which ultimately smashed hand drawn animation. His ability to see the
potential of technology turned a niche product into a multi–billion dollar industry which he sold

PIXAR It took the introduction of a dexterous young man called John Lasseter – a formal Animator
with Disney animation Studios to initiate the buy–in mind–set at Lucasfilm. John, talented and full
of energy, was good at accentuating the importance significance of storytelling. While others minds
were preoccupied with displaying the "wow" effect of computer animation, John was aware that
visual polish always does not matter much as long the right story is gotten correctly. With one smart
and simple initiate–adding another character to interact with the principal character–he created the
emotional tension that made the 1984 short film "The Adventures of André and Wally B." come out
excellently: André the android wakes up to find a bee (Wally B) hovering just above his face,
frightened and flees as the bee gives chase. Very much impressive and catchy than André simply

Disney Studios Disadvantages
Established in 1923, Disney Studios released the first ever full–length animated feature film, Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. By 2015, Disney Studios employed about "6,500 employees,
and spent $2 billion producing films annually". Alan Horn, Chairman of the Walt Disney Studios,
oversees five studios, that together made up Disney Studios. The Walt Disney Studios Motion
Pictures 'Disney Live Action' and Walt Disney Animation Studios 'Disney Animation' are directly
from Walt Disney's original studio. The three others were acquisitions made during Bob Iger's time
as chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company. The first was Disney's competitor
animation studio, Pixar, which was purchased for $7.4 billion in 2006; second, Marvel
Entertainment, which had its roots in comic books, for $4 billion in 2009; and finally the legendary
filmmaker George Lucas' Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in 2012. During this time, Disney Studios
began pursuing a "tentpole" strategy, which entails investing in higher budget films that would
hopefully produce a larger profit by pulling in a large portion of the market. The larger profit would
also help compensate for losses that may occur in smaller budgeted films. As it stands, Disney
studios currently produces 10–12 films annually with approximately eight of them with production
budgets in excess of $150 million. The current breakdown of tentpole films expected annually is as

Star Wars Argumentative Essay
Can two items be drastically different, but still attract a large audience? Most people would say yes,
but is this limited to television programs? It's definitely not, nor is it limited to the ownership by the
same company. Star Wars productions with completely different aspects receive a great amount of
popularity all the time. Star Wars the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, while similar in many ways,
are vastly different programs. Star Wars the Clone Wars is an animated television program that was
released in 2008 on cartoon network. While Star Wars Rebels is also an animated program, but was
release in 2014 on Disney Channel. Despite their differences, the two shows are immensely popular
and will create a legacy in the Star Wars universe. Most notably, the Clone Wars and Rebels differ in
animation, improvement as time went on, and their length, yet the two come together to form a fan
favorite production. The first difference between the Clone Wars and Rebels is the animation; while
both are enjoyable, each show has their own personal and unique style. The Clone Wars began with
2D animation, but as time continued, their animation improved greatly to 3D. By its second season

While Clone Wars focused on physical and character development, while also having a longer

also show how Lucasfilm sometimes strays from normality and tries something new. Though they
have different physical appearances, expectations, and they move at their own rate, they both easily
please their intended audience with their characters and Star Wars relation. This shows how two

numbering six with three more being made, have a fan base of millions of people. In order for a film

This enables the dominant race to grant privileges to some while at the expense of others. Entrance
into this "group" is usually exclusive to one type of person (Kendall). In totalitarian and dictatorial
instances, such as in Star Wars, the line between the group in power and all others is bold and easy
to see. Those who are not members of the group in power are subject to discrimination and have
fewer rights and privileges in his or her society. The Star Wars films provide both symbolic and
concrete evidence of this racial disparity. George Lucas' use of color throughout the films is
essential in the development of the narrative as well as to emphasize the progression of the racial
inequalities and prejudices between humans and aliens. The color progression from The Phantom
Menace to The Return of The Jedi acts as a sort of meter pertaining to the collapse of the Republic
and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The first film chronologically, The Phantom Menace, employs
bright, "happy" colors to convey hope and life. The vibrant colors of Naboo, the underwater home of
the Gungan's, and the interior of many key buildings are all made up of colors that are synonymous
with (relative) peace and innocence. As the Star Wars prequels progress to A New Hope, the bright
colors are overtaken by greys, blacks, and reds.

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Sand '
Like all good narratives this one begins in the sand. Not the sand of some far–off planet, where a
young person awaits their quest, but a desert closer to home, where Chris Taylor hoped to talk to the
one person he thought had never heard of Star Wars. Chris Taylor attended the premier of Star Wars:
A New Hope in the native spoken language of the Navajo, and was disappointed to learn that
George James Sr. had heard about Star Wars before Taylor got a chance to speak to him (Taylor xx).
Everyone even the old Navajo man, who lived in the mountains, has seen something related to Star
Wars. It has been a huge success. It grew from a movie into a mass cultural phenomenon. George
Lucas and Disney have been able to do something with Star Wars that few, if any movies, have been
able to do. Using traditional myth making techniques, cutting edge cinematic technology, and a
massive merchandizing department, George Lucas and now Disney, have successfully made certain
philosophical, psychological, and quasi–religious ideas palatable and universal for the modern
audience. Therefore, Star Wars fandom has manifested into things dealing with the human psyche,
such as the Jedi Church.
Star Wars would have been a complete dud if George Lucas did not read Joseph Campbell's, A Hero

The External Environment In The Walt Disney Company
Organizations do not exist in a vacuum, but evolve in an environment consisting of internal and
external factors. Taken into consideration, the above statement erodes the omnipotent view of
management, which assumes that the performance of an organization relies solely on the quality of
the management, and implies that external factors, which are most often out of the managers'
control, will affect the operations of the said organization. However, Chapman (2001) argues that a
manager's job is to exercise judgement, and that a company's performance will depend greatly on
how the manager's ability to adapt and respond to changes in the general environment. Indeed, the
system theory approach (Barnard, 1938) would suggest that organizations, nowadays more than
ever, operate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the purpose of this essay, we will use the PESTLE analysis (Kotler, 1998) approach to identify
two external environmental factors of a specific organization (namely the Walt Disney Company)
and analyse their impacts on the company's operations and on the managers' tasks, as well as how
the managers responded to the said changes in these factors. Founded in 1923, The Walt Disney

What Are George Lucas's Accomplishments
George Lucas
Imagine a boy walking down the street on a crisp Halloween night. He walks by many people and
comes across many characters with blasters and whips. He asks the characters what movie they got
their costumes from, and they told the boy they were from two very famous movie series. He
decides to watch the movie series and he loves it. These series of movies are Indiana Jones and Star
Wars, two of George Lucas' many successful series. George Lucas has had many acknowledged
accomplishments throughout his life as one of America's greatest filmmakers.
George Walton Lucas, Jr. was born on May 14th, 1944 in Modesto, California. He was the son of
Dorothy Ellinore Lucas and George Walton Lucas and lived most of his childhood on his family's
walnut ranch. He married the film editor Marcia Lou Griffin in 1969 and they adopted a child,
Amanda Lucas, in 1981. In 1983, they divorced and Lucas adopted two more children and raised
them on his own: Katie Lucas, born in 1988, and Jett Lucas, born in 1993. On June 22nd, 2013,

Indiana Jones is about a man named Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr., an archeologist who
goes on many escapades and fights many enemies for valued artifacts. He is mostly known by his
iconic look (a bullwhip, a fedora, a satchel, and a leather jacket), his sense of humor, his great
knowledge of ancient civilizations and languages, and his deep fear of snakes. Star Wars is a series
about jedi (a resemblance of good) and the sith (a resemblance of evil) in a galaxy far away from
our own. Jedi are best known by their lightsabers, (green, blue, and purple), their loyalty to other
jedi, and their deep wisdom and philosophies. Sith are best known by their lightsabers, (mainly red),
their long dynasty of master–apprentice, and their betrayal towards each other's trust and

Personal Narrative: Star Wars
When the time comes for your favorite movie or series of movies to drop a sequel, you obtain a duty
to prepare yourself for it no matter if you're a common fan or die hard fan like myself. You've been
bestowed a service to devote your time to a greater cause, rather than yourself. My time came when
I had to prepare myself for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debut.
A little back story about me, I've been a huge Star Wars fan for my whole life. I can't remember any
time of my life I didn't know the existence of reputable Star Wars. When I was a youngster, I
fantasized about the Star Wars universe constantly. This franchise was a big motivator when

George Lucas's Impact On The Film Making Industry

George Lucas When it comes to the filmmaking industry, there are many greats. Each one has
stamped their unique methods onto the world of film that developed into the beloved art that is
present today. Among one of those greats is George Lucas. George singlehandedly had one of the
most significant impacts on the development of special effects and sound technology. His life
experiences and friendships that he made along the way created the foundation for his great success
and drove him to his success. George Lucas, Jr. was born to George Lucas, Sr. and Dorothy Lucas
on May 14, 1944 in Modesto, California. Growing up, his family owned a stationary store and they
were in no way involved in the movie making business. Growing up, Lucas was very passionate
about cars and motor racing which would eventually influence the style of movies he would create
in the future. This passion was so strong that for the early parts of his life he was determined to

Disney Company & Pixar, Inc. – To Acquire or Not to Acquire? For more than a decade,
Disney and Pixar have enjoyed a very profitable and productive partnership. Disney provided rich
resources and entertainment business insight, including marketing and distribution acumen, which
allowed Pixar to grow far beyond a software producer to the leader in computer–generated animated
movies. Conversely, Pixar revitalized creativity into Disney's output and delivered a stream of
successful movies and characters. However, significant disputes formed between the partners in

Disney would fund all marketing expenditures and Pixar would receive no revenue share of Disney's
theme parks, cruise ships or other location–based entertainment. Pixar would earn up to net 40% of
total movie profits, and Disney would receive at least 60% with exclusive distribution and
exploitation rights to all films produced under the agreement. (Exhibit D) As the relationship with
Pixar progressed, Disney began to evaluate an acquisition decision, but needed to consider what this
meant for its corporate culture. (Exhibit E) At the time, Disney was losing creative value and
emerged as a bureaucratic company in which executives made creative decisions. In contrast, Pixar
approached creative development from a bottom–to–top development perspective. Although the
companies had many differences, each proved that they could produce box office hits. However,
Disney and Pixar had concerns about the merger. For Disney, adding an executive like Steve Jobs to
its board could result in personality conflicts and hinder productivity. Disney was also concerned
about Pixar's approach to creative development, as it didn't align with its traditional perspective on
character development. Pixar was concerned that it would relinquish creative control to a top–heavy
company, which could potentially alter the corporate culture,

Who Is Walt Disney´s Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
In 2012, the Walt Disney Co. offered $4 billion to Lucasfilm in order to purchase the rights to the
global phenomenon that is the 'Star Wars' franchise. As opposed, many professional analysts
believed this was a bad move on Disney's part, as it seemed to be too large of a sum for a franchise
that hadn't produced anything new since the underwhelming trilogy of 2005. However, three years
later, the same analysts would come to believe the exact opposite. When 'Star Wars: The Force
Awakens' was released in 2015, it grossed a solid $2 billion at the box office. Along with this, four
more films are set to be released in the coming years, not to mention the vast amounts of products
that will roll out into the world once these films are produced.

Disney Movies Advantages And Disadvantages
Alternatives
Disney's tentpole strategy has been fairly successful throughout the Disney Studios lifetime. Even
though this strategy worked in the past it may not be the best strategy moving forward, as there are
advantages and disadvantages to this strategy. One advantage of this strategy is that the tentpole
films attract movie going customers that think of the movies more as an event rather than just a film
they want to see."A $200 million movie is more likely than a $20 million movie to have elements
that appeal to moviegoers––to have special value for them.", said Horn. Just as with any bet, there
could also be a risk and disadvantage. If the film fails, they would both have to take the fall instead
of just Disney Studios. "When our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having five independent sub–studios also creates its own set of issues. Directors and executives not
being on the same page is one of the issues that has the potential to be the most costly. In the case of
Inside Out they made beneficial changes to the movie late in the process after executives viewed the
cut of the movie. In this case, executives working with sub–studios benefitted the finished product,
however, it creates and environment in which if executives and directors have different views of
where a movie should go or how characters should be portrayed it could lead to a complete
teardown and reshoot of a movie which would waste time and possibly risk missing a release date of
a major "tentpole" movie. Another challenge that arises when sub–studios are involved is division of
resources, which could lead to lower quality movies by not having all creative minds working on a
particular movie. For example, Disney live action has had the biggest percentage of failures versus
all of the other labels. Marvel and Lucasfilm have had tremendous success in creating universes in
which their movies can take place and add on to. This can be seen in the Star Wars universe or the
Marvel universe. The creative minds that developed the ideas to base these movies could be
beneficial to the Disney live action brand but the separation of resources keeps collaboration of
creative minds from happening.

Disney Studios should continue in their current

The Story Of Star Wars
To get to the origins of the billboard, we need to start with the story of Star Wars. In 19xx George
Lucas has an idea that become Star Wars. In 1976, with the first novel, and again in 1977 with the
release of the motion picture that idea became a reality. But not even Lucas knew what a
phonomenia it would become. He captured not only the minds but the hearts of the public. Those
most enraptured with his work would clamber for every scrap we could get are hands on. It was
slow coming after the Original Trilogy was released. Then through the dedication of a lone
Lucasfilm employee, Lucy Autrey Wilson, The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn was published.

Now we had an idea but no one really knew how to make it a reality. It was an idea that would be
brought up and quickly dropped several times over the period of several month. Then on one of Matt
's live shows the idea was raised again, this time a few members of the EU Page Owners ' Alliance
watched his show. The idea bit. They brought the idea back to the other page owners and it was
decided the billboard had to become a reality. At first progress was none existant as there are no
billboards in the Presidio, where Lucasfilm is headquartered. The Page Owners went to various
websites of the offered billboards and yet were unable to find a viable location. They then went to
Google Maps and the roads by street level looking for appropriate locations. Still nothing. Then
Brian Borg, the man who would become the billboard 's Campaign Manager, decide the only way to
move forward was to contact ad companies directly for assistance in locating viable spots. Sucess,
there now was a location for the billboard. The Page Owners now got work on the wording and the
design for the billboard. The wording had to be perfect, it needed to be attention grabbing, direct,
repsectfull and short. There were a few ideas but in the end the message provided by Bill Adkins,
our Chief Editor, was choosen. As for the design, there were a few finalist but starfield and crawl

Star Wars Argumentative Analysis
Throughout the years, Star Wars has played a prevalent part in Sci–Fi culture. However, with the
release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the main audience of the franchise has made a major shift
from its original demographics and has garnered a more mainstream group of viewers. In addition to
its traditional audience of males age 18 to 44, females and teenagers have taken a new liking to the
film. Because of these new age groups and gender groups finding more of an interest in the mega–
blockbuster saga, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios can expect a major economic upturn upon
release of future Star Wars films. Before the release of the seventh installment of the Star Wars saga,
The Force Awakens, a typical fan of the franchise could be expected to be male, between the ages of
18 and 44, and have an income between $50K and $100K. This was due to the the original film's

Traditionally, Star Wars, both in its original trilogy and its subsequent prequel trilogy, followed
young, white, male protagonists such as Luke and Anakin Skywalker. Because of this, the main
audience of Star Wars from the release of A New Hope in 1979 to the release of Revenge of the Sith
in 2005 was male, between the ages of 18 and 44. The Force Awakens introduces two new ways for
audiences to identify with its characters and premise; the main protagonist of the forthcoming
trilogy, Rey, is a 19–year–old white female and the deuteragonist, Finn, is a 23–year–old black male.
Social identity theory says that since the protagonist is a young adult female, the young adult female
demographic will enjoy the new Star Wars movie, and since the deuteragonist is a black male, the
black racial demographic will flock to the new film as

  • 3. Analysis Of Star Wars Star Wars: A Fantasy Not So Far From Reality Star Wars, the single most recognizable science fiction experience to the date, hides a substantial amount of real life issues, and borrows a great deal from real life history. While feasting these senses, a lot can be gained by analyzing the saga, specifically A New Hope and The Phantom Menace by George Lucas. Ironic themes exist in the saga in the likes of an oppressive government, the horrid results of such governments, a strong presence of theology–all which demonstrates parallelism of real life; borrowing from some of history's most notable governments, events, and theologies. From the first installment of Star Wars, it is overtly operant of George Lucas' intentions to weigh in on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... War, murder, and neglect all chief contributors to this astounding death toll backed by the nefarious likes of Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and vast number of omitted others due to the length of the proverbial list. In Lucas' first film, A New Hope, the empire destroys an entire planet, annihilating countless lives, and shows a distasteful lack of morality. A simple theme here–genocide and utter disregard for human life, and the dangerous of such power in the wrong hands. Lucas plays heavily on the audiences' emotions with the destruction of the planet Aldaaran. The decision to destroy the planet is made over a strategic demonstration of force and to leverage to get the Rebel princess, Leigh, to divulge information (Episode I). The dramatic screenplay displays a force with overwhelming power and how dangerous it could be in the hands of force not checked, and likely has an inspired parallel event and a cautionary tale of what the future may hold. August 6, 1945, Hiroshima, around 8:15 AM, nearly 80,000 people face the wrath of United States, and pay with their lives to a bomb nicknamed "little boy". Another is dropped, "fat man", and another 36,00 perish (Shi 1127). The events that unfolded that day have been, and will continue to be argued for eternity, however, ethics aside, draws strong connections to a growing militarized world and the concern that comes with such advancements. In modern times, the aforementioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The American Film Industry The American film industry is one of the most far reaching and influential businesses in today's world. Movies constantly spawn franchises which have die–hard fans lined up for hours just to get a ticket for a movie that is months away. The celebrities in our movies are elevated to a position of super–fame. It is the nature to a human to adapt to conditions over a given period of time. Adaptation continues through into our entertainment as well. Audiences are becoming accustomed to seeing the same things on the screen over and over again. Filmmakers are constantly trying to keep audiences entertained, which is becoming an increasingly difficult task. Today's general film– going audience quickly becomes bored and seeks more stimulation from the movies. Computer generated images or CGI has been a chief method to keep modern audiences entertained, while being cost effective to practical effects. With the recent use of CGI in movies, anything has become possible. The use for practical effects is minimal to nearly non–existent since Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 first showed the wide spectrum of what was possible. It is increasingly common for films to focus more on the visual effects, than the story of the film itself. Some notable examples of this are the Transformers series of movies, and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In the Transformers series the films focus on the action scenes of CGI robots. Human characters in this story often take a back seat to their film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Website IGN notes that: "Over the years, we've experienced a dissolution of the stigma once attached to animation [...] Animation geared toward adults has been around for a long while – dating back to '70s and '80s fare like Fritz the Cat, Heavy Metal and Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. Today, Adult Swim provides us with pockets of ingenious alternative after hours comedy while franchise players like The Simpsons, South Park and Family Guy continue to bring absurdist humour and parody to the masses." The continued grown of this market segment will provide Disney Pixar an ever increasing market into which they can position their feature film offerings. Rather than a challenge, the proliferation of adult–targeted animation is a opportunity for Pixar. Q 2: What results have come from creating a culture of creativity collaboration and teamwork at Pixar? By focusing on creativity, collaboration and teamwork, Pixar has been able to blend artistic, technical, and business goals into a winning strategy. Creative problems are solved with technical knowhow, which in turn is leveraged into a competitive business advantage. The push for innovation has been seen across all ... • 9. Disney 's Roster Of Heroes Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are joining Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Iron Man in Disney 's roster of heroes (USA Today). Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star Wars creator George Lucas, set the financial world and nerd–universe on their ear when they announced that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out–of–this–world sum of $4 billion (the same amount they paid for Marvel) (Screenrant). Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary Star Wars franchise to the entertainment giant 's stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by founder George Lucas. The purchase culminates a one and a half year pursuit of the Lucas empire, Disney 's CEO said (USA Today). One weekend last October, Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Walt Disney (DIS), sat through all six Star Wars films. He'd seen them before, of course. This time, he took notes. Disney was in secret negotiations to acquire Lucasfilm, the company founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, and Iger needed to do some due diligence (Bloomberg). Negotiation is one of the most important as well as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. In industry and at most levels of government, the term "negotiation" frequently causes misunderstandings. In industry, negotiation sometimes is confused with "haggling" and "price chiseling." Increasingly, negotiations are conducted by cross–functional teams. These teams must be well coordinated to function as an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Pixar Animation Studios Essay "I didn't come all this way just to see you quit," this quote by the character Doc Hudson from Pixar's animated movie, Cars, expresses the feeling Pixar based its company upon for the past twenty years. Pixar has grown, and now, families around the world recognize the company's name. Over the years, Pixar Animation Studios evolved from a small, amateur business into a large, thriving, world– renowned company. Twenty years ago, George Lucas started a new division under Lucasfilm. • 15. Solo: A Star Wars Story In July 2015, Lucasfilm announced the production of a standalone film detailing the origins of the galaxy's most famous smuggler. Titled Solo: A Star Wars Story, the film set to release on May 25, 2018, but fans were starting to get nervous when February came and no footage had been released. To the relief of Star Wars fans everywhere, the first Solo teaser debuted during the Super Bowl on February 4 as the predecessor to a full trailer released on Good Morning America the following day. Although the assurance that Solo was still on course to be released on Memorial Day eased the minds of many, fans are also starting to worry about what they saw in the trailer. The primary concern seems to lie in the portrayal of Han Solo. The scoundrel from a galaxy far, far away is one of the most well known movie characters, even to those who aren't Star Wars fans, and his image is distinctly the one created by Harrison Ford, so concern for how he would be recreated by another actor came into play very early on after the movie was announced. ... • 17. Steve Jobs Impact Steve Jobs had a tremendous impact on the technologic industry in more ways than just his involvement with Apple. While personal computers were his primary focus early in his career with the Apple 1 computer. However, he did not invent the Macintosh computer which followed the Apple computer. That distinction belongs to a gentleman named Jeff Raskins. Jobs was however the person who realized the mass potential of the Macintosh computer and he was responsible for the marketing of the new technology, something he was exceptional gifted with. The driving technology that Jobs identified was a new technologic advancement of Graphic User Interface (GUI) which completely changed the computer industry (Johnson, 2011). Little did the editors know that they would have to accept change for a fresh level of creativity to occur. In the same light, Edwin found out that no matter how fantastic an innovative idea is, not until the initiative is completely accepted by those that will have to execute it, its remains irrelevant PIXAR It took the introduction of a dexterous young man called John Lasseter – a formal Animator with Disney animation Studios to initiate the buy–in mind–set at Lucasfilm. John, talented and full of energy, was good at accentuating the importance significance of storytelling. While others minds were preoccupied with displaying the "wow" effect of computer animation, John was aware that visual polish always does not matter much as long the right story is gotten correctly. With one smart and simple initiate–adding another character to interact with the principal character–he created the emotional tension that made the 1984 short film "The Adventures of André and Wally B." come out excellently: André the android wakes up to find a bee (Wally B) hovering just above his face, frightened and flees as the bee gives chase. • 23. Disney Studios Disadvantages Established in 1923, Disney Studios released the first ever full–length animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. By 2015, Disney Studios employed about "6,500 employees, and spent $2 billion producing films annually". Alan Horn, Chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, oversees five studios, that together made up Disney Studios. The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures 'Disney Live Action' and Walt Disney Animation Studios 'Disney Animation' are directly from Walt Disney's original studio. The three others were acquisitions made during Bob Iger's time as chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company. The first was Disney's competitor animation studio, Pixar, which was purchased for $7.4 billion in 2006; second, Marvel Entertainment, which had its roots in comic books, for $4 billion in 2009; and finally the legendary filmmaker George Lucas' Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in 2012. During this time, Disney Studios began pursuing a "tentpole" strategy, which entails investing in higher budget films that would hopefully produce a larger profit by pulling in a large portion of the market. The larger profit would also help compensate for losses that may occur in smaller budgeted films. As it stands, Disney studios currently produces 10–12 films annually with approximately eight of them with production budgets in excess of $150 million. • 29. Star Wars Argumentative Essay Can two items be drastically different, but still attract a large audience? Most people would say yes, but is this limited to television programs? It's definitely not, nor is it limited to the ownership by the same company. Star Wars productions with completely different aspects receive a great amount of popularity all the time. Star Wars the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, while similar in many ways, are vastly different programs. Star Wars the Clone Wars is an animated television program that was released in 2008 on cartoon network. While Star Wars Rebels is also an animated program, but was release in 2014 on Disney Channel. Despite their differences, the two shows are immensely popular and will create a legacy in the Star Wars universe. Most notably, the Clone Wars and Rebels differ in animation, improvement as time went on, and their length, yet the two come together to form a fan favorite production. Critical Analysis Of Star Wars James Nathan Walters Professor Kevin Copeland English 2106 3 December 2015 Critical Analysis of Star Wars Released in 1977, the original Star Wars movie quickly became the highest grossing film of all time and it changed the way people thought of filmography. With its unique special effects and storyline, it created a new era of Hollywood movies. It became a huge blockbuster and eventually spawned a new universe that now spans several decades. The films, now numbering six with three more being made, have a fan base of millions of people. This enables the dominant race to grant privileges to some while at the expense of others. Entrance into this "group" is usually exclusive to one type of person (Kendall). In totalitarian and dictatorial instances, such as in Star Wars, the line between the group in power and all others is bold and easy to see. Those who are not members of the group in power are subject to discrimination and have fewer rights and privileges in his or her society. The Star Wars films provide both symbolic and concrete evidence of this racial disparity. George Lucas' use of color throughout the films is essential in the development of the narrative as well as to emphasize the progression of the racial inequalities and prejudices between humans and aliens. The color progression from The Phantom Menace to The Return of The Jedi acts as a sort of meter pertaining to the collapse of the Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The first film chronologically, The Phantom Menace, employs bright, "happy" colors to convey hope and life. The vibrant colors of Naboo, the underwater home of the Gungan's, and the interior of many key buildings are all made up of colors that are synonymous with (relative) peace and innocence. As the Star Wars prequels progress to A New Hope, the bright colors are overtaken by greys, blacks, and reds. The warm color palette is synonymous with democracy, diversity, and ... Not the sand of some far–off planet, where a young person awaits their quest, but a desert closer to home, where Chris Taylor hoped to talk to the one person he thought had never heard of Star Wars. Chris Taylor attended the premier of Star Wars: A New Hope in the native spoken language of the Navajo, and was disappointed to learn that George James Sr. had heard about Star Wars before Taylor got a chance to speak to him (Taylor xx). Everyone even the old Navajo man, who lived in the mountains, has seen something related to Star Wars. It has been a huge success. It grew from a movie into a mass cultural phenomenon. George Lucas and Disney have been able to do something with Star Wars that few, if any movies, have been able to do. Using traditional myth making techniques, cutting edge cinematic technology, and a massive merchandizing department, George Lucas and now Disney, have successfully made certain philosophical, psychological, and quasi–religious ideas palatable and universal for the modern audience. Therefore, Star Wars fandom has manifested into things dealing with the human psyche, such as the Jedi Church. Even though this strategy worked in the past it may not be the best strategy moving forward, as there are advantages and disadvantages to this strategy. One advantage of this strategy is that the tentpole films attract movie going customers that think of the movies more as an event rather than just a film they want to see."A $200 million movie is more likely than a $20 million movie to have elements that appeal to moviegoers––to have special value for them.", said Horn. Just as with any bet, there could also be a risk and disadvantage. If the film fails, they would both have to take the fall instead of just Disney Studios. "When our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having five independent sub–studios also creates its own set of issues. Directors and executives not being on the same page is one of the issues that has the potential to be the most costly. In the case of Inside Out they made beneficial changes to the movie late in the process after executives viewed the cut of the movie. In this case, executives working with sub–studios benefitted the finished product, however, it creates and environment in which if executives and directors have different views of where a movie should go or how characters should be portrayed it could lead to a complete teardown and reshoot of a movie which would waste time and possibly risk missing a release date of a major "tentpole" movie. Another challenge that arises when sub–studios are involved is division of resources, which could lead to lower quality movies by not having all creative minds working on a particular movie. For example, Disney live action has had the biggest percentage of failures versus all of the other labels. Marvel and Lucasfilm have had tremendous success in creating universes in which their movies can take place and add on to. This can be seen in the Star Wars universe or the Marvel universe. The creative minds that developed the ideas to base these movies could be beneficial to the Disney live action brand but the separation of resources keeps collaboration of creative minds from happening. • 73. The Story Of Star Wars To get to the origins of the billboard, we need to start with the story of Star Wars. In 19xx George Lucas has an idea that become Star Wars. In 1976, with the first novel, and again in 1977 with the release of the motion picture that idea became a reality. But not even Lucas knew what a phonomenia it would become. He captured not only the minds but the hearts of the public. Those most enraptured with his work would clamber for every scrap we could get are hands on. It was an idea that would be brought up and quickly dropped several times over the period of several month. Then on one of Matt 's live shows the idea was raised again, this time a few members of the EU Page Owners ' Alliance watched his show. The idea bit. They brought the idea back to the other page owners and it was decided the billboard had to become a reality. At first progress was none existant as there are no billboards in the Presidio, where Lucasfilm is headquartered. The Page Owners went to various websites of the offered billboards and yet were unable to find a viable location. They then went to Google Maps and the roads by street level looking for appropriate locations. Still nothing. Then Brian Borg, the man who would become the billboard 's Campaign Manager, decide the only way to move forward was to contact ad companies directly for assistance in locating viable spots. Sucess, there now was a location for the billboard. The Page Owners now got work on the wording and the design for the billboard. The wording had to be perfect, it needed to be attention grabbing, direct, repsectfull and short. There were a few ideas but in the end the message provided by Bill Adkins, our Chief Editor, was choosen. As for the design, there were a few finalist but starfield and crawl were finally decided on. • 75. Star Wars Argumentative Analysis Throughout the years, Star Wars has played a prevalent part in Sci–Fi culture. However, with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the main audience of the franchise has made a major shift from its original demographics and has garnered a more mainstream group of viewers. In addition to its traditional audience of males age 18 to 44, females and teenagers have taken a new liking to the film. Because of these new age groups and gender groups finding more of an interest in the mega– blockbuster saga, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios can expect a major economic upturn upon release of future Star Wars films. Before the release of the seventh installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens, a typical fan of the franchise could be expected to be male, between the ages of 18 and 44, and have an income between $50K and $100K. This was due to the the original film's Science Fiction, Action–film–like nature that has traditionally appealed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditionally, Star Wars, both in its original trilogy and its subsequent prequel trilogy, followed young, white, male protagonists such as Luke and Anakin Skywalker. Because of this, the main audience of Star Wars from the release of A New Hope in 1979 to the release of Revenge of the Sith in 2005 was male, between the ages of 18 and 44. The Force Awakens introduces two new ways for audiences to identify with its characters and premise; the main protagonist of the forthcoming trilogy, Rey, is a 19–year–old white female and the deuteragonist, Finn, is a 23–year–old black male. Social identity theory says that since the protagonist is a young adult female, the young adult female demographic will enjoy the new Star Wars movie, and since the deuteragonist is a black male, the black racial demographic will flock to the new film as ...
