The Power of Conformity Essay
The Power of Conformity
Conformity refers to an individual's behavior that is performed because of group pressure, even
though that pressure might not involve a direct request. Many people want to think that they are
conformist enough so that they are not looked upon as strange to others and nonconformist enough
to demonstrate that they are capable of thinking by themselves. For many years, psychologists have
been interested in human conformity. Usually when people are in groups, they behave according to
how those in the group behave. That indicates that conformity can affect a person's behavior and
make a person do things that may be against their ethics, attitudes, and morals. The study of ... Show

What the eighth subject did not know was the other seven subjects were not exactly subjects. They
knew what to do and what would happen.
An experimenter held up one of the cards and the subjects had to match on of the lines with the
single line. For the first two cards, the seven matched the two pairs on lines correctly. The eighth
subject answered correctly as well. On the third pair of cards, the seven subjects answered wrong to
see if the eighth subject would conform or answer correctly. Asch found out that 75% of the subjects
conformed at least once in the trials, but not one person conformed every time. The other 25% did
not conform with any of the groups decisions. Some of the experiments had the subjects write down
their answer so the line lengths could be accurately judged. In these experiments, 98% of the real
subjects answered correctly. Asch found out many things from the experiment. Some of the findings
are social support, attraction and commitment to the group, size of the group, and sex. Asch did the
same experiment with a slight variation. He changed the answers of the seven subjects so that one of
them always gave the right answer. This comforted the real subject and only 5% of the subjects
agreed with the group answer. This social support experiment showed that if one person gives the
same answer then a person feels more comfortable. Also, other experiments showed that the more

Rigor Redefined Summary
Tony Wagner's article, "Rigor Redefined," was a very interesting article. I agree that we need to
teach our students these seven skills so they can be productive citizens in the future. However, I
think we should not focus on teaching just these seven skills. We also need to help our students
develop good character traits. This includes teaching them respect, responsibility, and
trustworthiness, as well as the other pillars of good character. These traits combined with the seven
skills that Wagner writes about, could help the students achieve great things once they leave our
classrooms. My instructional model includes five of the seven skills that are mentioned in the
article. The first part of my instructional model includes me teaching the students information
through a variety of ways. This does not apply to any of the seven skills, but instead is an input of
information they will use to eventually learn the other skills. The second piece of my ... Show more

When students work in groups to prepare presentations for the class and the teacher, it requires them
to collaborate with each other on what information to include and how to present this information. I
will require each student in a group to participate in the presentation, which would result in oral
communication for every student in the class. The researching from the second part of my
instructional model and the papers and exams of the third section require the students to analyze and
access information. I will write prompts for the papers that will require the students to analyze the
information they have learned and to also access the information from their research. I will also use
some essay questions on the exams so the students can analyze the information there as well. The

Throughout different cultures the age in which the child achieve certain milestones such as
Education, Peer interaction and Environmental independence can be influenced on the cultural
values that the parents or caretakers express. This research report outlines the expectations mothers
have through a range of seven dominate competencies. Through the use of a questionnaire (Joshi &

mothers. Data was collected in that the results stated. Anglo–Australian mothers gave considerably
younger age than Indian–Australian mothers in four out of the seven competencies. Indian–
Australian mothers gave a considerably younger age for one of the seven competencies and for two
of the remaining competencies there was very little difference between the two cultural groups. The
results concluded that Anglo–Australian mothers have an overall younger age expectations from

Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool
In "We Real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks, seven boys are cutting school to go to a pool hall named
The Golden Shovel. They drink, party, and are showing off. This type of fast, rough living will
eventually lead to their death. The boys want to be defined by their rebellious actions, which place
them at odds with polite society. Gwendolyn Brooks was inspired by her Chicago neighborhood
when she wrote this poem. One day Brooks was walking down the street and happened to cross by a
pool hall; Inside she saw a bunch of young boys. This being in the middle of the day, she was
suspicious whether these boys may have either skipped school or possibly dropped out. What she
saw in the pool hall was not merely the boys playing pool but the boldness and insecurity of these
such boys. They were thumbing their noses at society by hanging out at a place populated by
gamblers and pool sharks – on a school day. Spending the day in a dingy, dimly lit room seems more
like something one would do to look cool, as opposed to actually being cool. ( ADD HARLEM
RENAISSANCE CONNECTION HERE). Brooks develops a jazzy, monosyllabic foot poem, which
uses its internal masculine rhymes, caesuras, and selective diction to suggest that living rough will
lead to a early death and relation to harlem renaissance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Historical Representation Of The Canadian Wilderness
Alfred Joseph Casson's (1898–1992) art work captures more than the historical representation of the
idyllic landscape of the Canadian wilderness. It is the premise of this paper, Casson's paintings
reflect and represent the economic and political environment of two time periods – Post World War I
and the Great Depression, and post–World War II. The two examples of his paintings are, The Old
Mill Elora, (35.6 x 40.7 cm), 1930, watercolour on paper, in private collection, painted post–World
War I during the great depression; and the other Prelude, 1945, oil on Masonite, (76.2 x 91.5 cm), in
The Faculty Club, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, painted post–World War II (Paul Duval,
1980, p. 18). Comparative analysis of these two paintings will support this theory as well as
research. Casson's personal perspective was influenced by the economic and political environment
at these times which were recorded through his art work, both in his commercial career as an
engraver and designer, and, as an artist. One could argue, Casson was a blend of creative
commercial genius and artistic designer that communicated the ideology of rural landscapes and
rustic buildings into his paintings. The sharp lines and block colors are reminiscent of the
lithographic designs. He represented craftsmanship and creative quality in his commercial work and
art. His field excursions to remote areas in Ontario were artistic experiences to sketch and paint as
part of his development of his skills.

dancers do not have time to do all that because they are doing party dances, with vocabulary and
steps and partner. Harris was able to take street dance and put it on the stage. The hip–hop dancers
were trained and they delivered the dance professionally. The design of the dance was magical, there
was concentration, cooperation, communication and creativity. The dancers maintained the rhythm
and the shape of the body was shown by the body and the way it made use of time and space. They
costumes being a key component in the moves matched the description of the dance and this made
the choreographer's idea successful. The lighting was appropriate for the dance; the colors from the

Poem Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
Gwendolyn Brooks' poem "We Real Cool" was published in 1960. Brooks was raised in the South
Side of Chicago, and Chicago was known as the center of blues and jazz culture. In 1960, John F.
Kennedy ran for the Democratic party. The main theme is destructive values. The poem is based on
the thoughts Brooks had when she experienced a scene similar to the one in the poem in real life.
She reflected over their actions and what they would bring to them later in life, that was what
inspired Brooks to write her poem. "We Real Cool" has four stanzas, with the word "we" at the
beginning of every sentence. The diction in this poem is very simple, and there are some
grammatical errors that demonstrate the lack of education the boys have. The poem's tone is quite
grim, feeding into the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem opens with "THE POOL PLAYERS. SEVEN AT THE GOLDEN SHOVEL", as if it were
a play. Golden Shovel is the name of the pool house and the number seven is considered a lucky
number among gamblers. The color gold is associated with wealth, prosperity, youth and sunshine.
Shovels are associated with death and the burial of the dead. There are seven young men at the
Golden Shovel. Seven young men who will not prosper and will have no wealth, whose youth will
be lost because they will have no education to prosper, and they will be exposed to the hardships of
like early. The poem is narrated by the seven boys. They begin with "We real cool" (line 1), and
their incorrect grammar is shown, demonstrating how they obviously dropped out of school. The
way they speak is in an uneducated manner. "We left school" (line 2), makes the boys sound sound
arrogant, like hey are showing off being drop–outs and receiving no education. It is unknown
whether they skipped school or dropped out, but given what the rest of the poem says, it seems like
they dropped out and are proud of it. In an interview with

instruments, including the piano, two clarinets, the flute, two horns, two bassoons, and string
instruments. Heaven only knows for sure where and when the first concerto was performed.

When the Exposition theme is restated as part of the movement, it is known as the Recapitulation. In
Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488, the Recapitulation is when the soloist is
accompanied by the orchestra. There are many similarities between the exposition description and
the recapitulation description. However, there are also quite a few differences. The first theme group
in the exposition lasts from measures one through sixty–six, whereas the first theme group in the
recapitulation lasts from measures begins at measure one–hundred and ninety–eight, and then ends
at two hundred and eighty–four. The first theme group of the exposition has a two–bar cadential
extension with a sixteen–bar double period. Many wonder how the first theme in the recapitulation
is derived from the exposition? That is because there is and exposition version of the variation that
has no extensions. In the Exposition, the transition lasts from measures eighteen through thirty–
three. In the Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two
hundred and twenty–eighth measure. The second theme of the recapitulation is derived from the
exposition, because the second theme of the exposition has a thirty–one to forty–six bar double
period, along with a seven–bar shortened sentence, a three–bar interpolation, and closing with a
four–bar phrase. The second theme group in the recapitulation lasts from measure one hundred to

"If I quit being a skinhead, I have nothing. I am nothing."(The Seven–Stage Hate Model: The

not motivated over money or goods but motivated by hate. There is one other thing that
differentiates gangs and hate groups, hate group's recruiting can rely on children. If they can
influence one child into a hate group, that child can influence many others into what almost seems

Hydrogen Peroxidase Lab Report
The purpose of this lab was to investigate the effect of enzyme concentration (hydrogen peroxidase),
substrate concentration (H2O2), pH, and temperature on the rate of H2O2 breakdown. As seen in all
Data Table: Procedure 1 Group A, and Procedure 1: Effect of Temperature on Rate Rate A, if the
temperature was increased, then the rate of reaction will increase. This trend held true until the point
of denaturation, in which the rate immediately became zero. This was because an enzyme is a
protein, so when heated beyond its capacity, its structure was scrambled and therefore became
denatured. Besides the fact that the time became infinite, causing the rate to be zero, the data seemed
to support Hypothesis 1. This data should have been correct, ... Show more content on

The data supported Hypothesis 4 and the trend seemed to be linear. The results were obtained due to
the fact that with an increase of concentration, there were more substrates in the substance, which
led to more encounters with an enzyme in the allotted time. With a higher probability of finding an
enzyme, the rate of reaction would be increase. There only seemed to be one point slightly out of
place in Group A's Procedure 4. The only source of error in this circumstance would be, as
previously described, only due to the reaction time with the timer, and the exact depth the filter
paper was released.
Ways in which the decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide could be affected was learned. The
lab exercise enhanced the understanding of the topic beyond textbook reading and class discussions
through an engaging hands–on experience. The overall results could be applied to the issue
regarding global warming. If the world's climate were to be increasing, then the decomposition
reactions of greenhouse gases stored in the ocean would be released at a faster rate. This would be a
serious issue for future

Group Of Seven
The group of seven is arguably one of the greatest movements in Canadian history; with their
dynamic landscape paintings. Through this short summary I will highlight their history, their style of
painting and the important role they play in our Canadian history.
The history of the Group of Seven is interesting to the core; the group was established in the 1920 as
a group of independent modern artists. The group consist of many great Canadian artists who were
very important to Canadian history during the twentieth–century. Their style might be a little
different, however, they used many bright colours such as "tactile paint handling, and simple yet
dynamic forms" (Varley, 2013, P.1.). The group has transformed Canadian northern forest and lakes
into wonderful spiritual forces. Though the group mainly consisted of Canadian artists, they have
also influenced others such as an abstract artist Jack Bush and Peter Doig who was a contemporary
figure painter (Varley, 2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his fortune doing commercial art. This was set to be the beginning of marvellous painting of the
Canadian landscape that displayed our culture that has yet to be acknowledged by the masses
(Varley, 2013).
Secondly their style of painting is like no other; their choice of colour and huge brush strokes
highlight the groves and curves of Canadian forest and lakes. "Most of the painting done by the
group of seven was that of landscaping; However they were not landscape painters in the beginning
but it was only after the Toronto Art Gallery exhibition in 1920 (Now known as the Ontario Art

Essay On Canadian Culture
There are many ways to defined Canadian culture through different terms that make Canadian
culture, Canadian. Canadian culture can be found through artistic, musical, literary, culinary and
political and social elements. Dennis Lee believed that "If you're Canadian; you don't really have a
place to call home". (Dennis, 1974). However, the landscapes in Canada are known to be embedded
in notions of Canadian culture showing us the Canadian identity. In this paper, I will state how Rod
Charlesworth's landscape painting demonstrated Canadian culture by reviewing the importance
terms such as the Atwood's "survival, group of seven, the environmental determinism, authenticity,

Getting Fit With A Seven Minute Workout
By David Sharp
Apr 24, 2012
Improving health and getting fit does not require spending hours at the gym every day. A seven
minute workout is sufficient to get the body in great shape, feel health and enjoy the benefits of
exercise. Unlike other routines that take an hour or more every day, the goal of working out for only
seven minutes is getting in shape on a tight schedule.
How The Workout Works:
Understanding the keys of why the workout is effective despite the limited amount of time is an
important part of getting in shape. Unlike other routines, which target only one muscle group or
muscle at a time, the workout uses exercises that target a large number of muscles at the same time.
With exercises like push–ups and squats, which workout more than just one area of the body, the
short routine has a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Squats are one of the best exercises for a seven minute routine. It takes only a few seconds to
perform one squat, but it works on both legs and the core muscles. The ability to flex and work the
muscles in the abdominals, back, thighs and calves at the same time makes it easier to keep to a
short routine.
Pushups are another excellent exercise to work on several muscle groups. Pushups work on the
shoulders, arms, back, abdominals and legs due to the position. A few pushups are a good exercise
to add to the seven minute routine for improved results over the entire body.
Jumping–jacks are a great way to get the heart going while working on the entire body. The
movements of the arms and legs work on the thighs, calves, shoulders, biceps and triceps. Keeping
the abdominals and back muscles tight will improve balance during the exercise while it also
strengthens the core muscles. Since jumping–jacks require jumping from the toes, it is particularly
strengthening in the calf

six being the most helpful, students were asked to rate activities that helped them learn in an
academic setting. Students were asked to evaluate activities such as: debates, class discussions,
researching and writing notes, competitive games, creating artwork, collaboration to analyze
documents, role playing, video lectures at home, and creating graphic organizers. Examining the
scores on the learning styles survey, debates and role–playing were ranked as the most helpful

How Did Mary Pickford Affect Canada
In the decades of the 1920's and 1930's a lot of things changed in Canada, a lot of those changes
made a large impact on the Canada we are living in today. During these decade's women began to
play much larger roles in society. Until the 1900's women played no role in society. One women that
stands out as an influential figure for the participation of women in society is Mary Pickford.
Although women's participation in society made an impact on shaping Canadian society, as did the

The group explored Canada's landscape through their art. Today they are among Canada's most
famous artists. Before the group was formed, most of the men had already known each other. In
1913, Lawren Harris, who was a member of the group, convinced A.Y. Jackson to move to Toronto.
In 1920 J.E.H. MacDonald, Arthur Lismer, Frederick Varley, Frank Johnston, Franklin Carmichael,
and A.Y. Jackson decided to do an exhibit together for the first time, as the Group of Seven. Their
goal was to show Canada's wilderness through a Canadian style that would be different from the
traditional European style. At this time, art collectors were criticized for collecting art that differed
from the European tradition. In 1924, only two percent of the art that was sold in Canada was art by
Canadian artists. When they were making art and selling their work, it was being sold for around
250 dollars, no one thought that the art would be worth millions a few decades. These artists really
made a difference in creating the Canada we live in today. The Group of Seven is among the most

The Role Of The Native American Indians
Seven Years ' War in North America Anglelyn Washington University of Texas at Arlington U.S.
History 1311 Professor Nathaniel Goodwin 14 November 2014 Seven Years ' War in North America:
The Role of the Native American Indians Native American Indians played a larger role in the Seven
Years ' War than they tend to be credited in many history books. While it cannot be denied that the
Native Americans certainly were used as "pawns" of the European soldiers, this essential group was
also motivated on its own to fight. However, there is little doubt that the Native Americans would
not have had involvement in the Seven Years ' War without the nudging of leaders such as Jeffrey
Amherst on the British side. ² While many – if not most – of the European soldiers did not consider
the Native American Indians to be valuable as people, they still contributed lasting culture changes
to the English colonists in America, their own battle strategies and trade to the French as well as a
new perspective on war and life in general during the Seven Years ' War, which proved to be
invaluable. In studying the Seven Years ' War, it has been made abundantly clear that different
groups reacted in their own individual ways to the Native American Indians. It is probably fair to
say that no one at the time realized the importance of the Native Americans, though the French did
of course tend to tolerate them more as allies to further their own agenda. The mistreatment did not

Canada's Food Guide Case Study
Canada's food guide is a great tool that can be used to gauge what the average person's diet should
consist of; though it is not mandatory, it is recommended that your diet should emulate the
guidelines set in place. Due to the fact that in most scenarios, sufferers of heart disease are mainly
grown adults and the elderly, all servings, caloric intakes and diet references will be made to that
specific age group. On that note, four servings of a Roasted Tomato and Cauliflower Pasta Bake

The Symbols Of Kwanzaa And African-American Culture
Kwanzaa History
"Kwanzaa, a seven–day holiday that celebrates African–American heritage. Dr. Maulana Karenga
created Kwanzaa to help African–Americans remember their roots and to foster unity during a time
of incredible racial strife. It's been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since 1966.
Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian beliefs and
originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti–Christmas of sorts. The name Kwanzaa is
derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for "first fruits," is based on traditional African
harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each of the seven days
represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are also seven symbols of
Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout the holiday. The colors of
Kwanzaa are red, black and green –– the colors of the Pan–African flag, which symbolizes unity
among African people all over the world. Black represents the people, red their blood and green the
earth and the future. Kwanzaa is, of course, a festive time; it has all the feasting and celebrating
you'd expect from a weeklong holiday, but it's also an occasion for reflection, conversation,
contemplation and camaraderie. And although it's a relatively young holiday, it has its fair share of
very specific, detailed traditions." (Cooper, A. (2011, July 25). Kwanzaa:

rather than using data received from so called "loyal" customers, Wal–Mart grouped their shoppers

eight male secretaries. Two each. I knew I wasn 't a secretary. I knew I made a lot of money. I hadn 't
the slightest clue what for. Until recently.
During the winter, the 72nd second floor resembled a boat deck in the sky. Surrounded by white

The Group of Seven was made up of seven men in white shirts who spoke to no one, except one
another, behind glass walls. I rode in an elevator with one of them once. Not a peep. Not even an
acknowledgement. I felt as though I should hang my head in shame. Why? I hadn 't the slightest
idea. Seventy–two floors are a long ride up.
As four thirty rolled in, the last male secretary put his coat on and departed for the drifts below. The
markets were closing in eight minutes. The Group of Seven glowed in their glass vestibule as their
meeting commenced. Their shirts, for once did not match the colour of the sky. Once again the
building swayed. The wind was not only felt but heard as it blasted through the forced air systems.
Perched in my cage, I noticed a yellow ticket falling in mid air like a feather to the ground. I could
not leave my cage. I was to be reprimanded for doing so. FIRED. A yellow ticket signified an order
to buy. If ever a yellow ticket was filled in error a procedure existed to void the transaction. The
pink slip was not attached therefore it was a live order. Four minutes remained. The Group of Seven

Secret Handshake Analysis
For the last century Canada has evolved into a sovereign nation, through politics, democracy,
government, peacekeeping, bilingual and multinationalism. Canada's unique history and geography
has contributed to Canada's national identity, however many people still question, what does it
means to be Canadian? Thus a national identity crisis occurs, and although ethnicity and diversity is
apart of Canadian identity, it also challenges it by having many differences with one another. Many
believe that Canada lacks a strong national identity because it is too diverse to form a cohesive
community; a sense of connection to other people who share similar interests, a common history,
culture and language. The past can help with this crisis by looking ... Show more content on

The term "secret handshake" is a specific gesture known between two parties; this connection is
only meant to be understood by Canadians. Coupland's exhibition investigates Canadian cultural
identity by using imagery and objects that is symbolic to Canadians.2 The souvenirs that he has of
Canada in this exhibition, reminds people about their complexity of their nation and its origins,
something that is easily forgotten because multiculturalism/ pluralism overwrites/is more important
than Canada's unique history. Apart of this exhibition is the G7 Series, which appropriates many
iconic works of The Group of Seven. Coupland chooses the Group of Seven to feature in his works
because their representation of Canadian wilderness still shapes Canadians' ideas about their
homeland and about art, making them a national symbol. In his novel, Souvenir of Canada,
Coupland writes, "they brought Canada alive... The paintings of the Group of Seven are like a
code... a 'secret handshake among Canadians,' something meaningless to audiences outside the
country." (48) His G7 series, that is shown at the MOCCA exhibition includes: Harris Maligned
Lake, Sampson–Matthews Variant, 2011., Harris No.11, Green Mountain, 2011., and Thomson
Campfire, 2013. The series are based on degraded digital images of the Group of Seven most iconic
works that were found on the internet. Coupland creates a geometric language through Adobe
Photoshop to reduce the composition of these well–known landscapes into polygons, determining
the hues based on his own colour sense.3 Coupland uses appropriation in a subtle way by titling the
artist, and keeping the name of the painting, however he also includes 'Sampson–Matthews Variant'
indicating an important time for Canadian art history. The Sampson–Matthews Silkscreens was a

7 Habits Research
What are the seven habits meant for? The seven habits are meant to inspire people into bettering
their everyday lives in society. Also, the seven habits are meant to create routine. By creating
routine, you or the person that is following these steps can plan out their next move (e.g. When
playing chess, each chess player will plan ahead on which move they will make and will try to
anticipate the other players moves). We each have points in life that we need to improve on, yet,
many don't hold themselves to those 'promises' that they make to themselves to change their ways.
For instance, one of the seven habits that I believe I am good at is habit one. The reason I believe I
am good at habit one is because, each night before school I pack my backpack. Also, I start any
homework I know is going to be given/due soon (depending on whether or not I get a class
syllabus). Considering many assignments/tests/quizzes/exams are given during the four years of
high school, I spend thirty minutes at least a day studying my class notes. This helps me pass my
assignments/tests/quizzes/exams. Yet, all people need to improve on subjects/categories in life.
The habit I believe I need to improve on is habit six, synergize. This is because I am used to
working individually and I am also a perfectionist when it comes to my notes/writing (in general).

many look at themselves, and the path they are on/leaving for posterity. Therefore, the seven habits

The Role Of Pollution In Conodoguinet Creek
The Conodoguinet Creek flows 101 miles through the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania. We

levels of pollution. That way my hypothesis and what I thought about the pollution in the

Adolescent Esteem And Self Esteem
Narcissism in the younger generations is at an all–time high. This means that the younger generation
is less caring, less civil minded, and more likely to cheat (Twenge, 2014, p. 98,100). They may even
be more likely to commit mass shootings (p. 99). Narcissism can be defined as excessively high
self–esteem (Twenge, 2014, p. 92). What has caused high rates of narcissism in Generation Me?
There is a multitude of factors, but most prominent are the deterioration of community values,
childhood self–esteem boosting, and our society's fear of low self–esteem.
The first step in solving this issue is helping raise awareness that it is an issue. Most often
narcissism is seen as normal or even humorous. It is something that we don't take seriously and we
tend to avoid narcissistic people rather than trying to prevent them from becoming narcissistic.
Everyone knows what narcissism is and what generally causes it, but it is rarely seen as a serious
issue. However, we could not survive if everyone in this country was a narcissist. Organizations and
companies would fall apart as people did things to make themselves happy rather than to serve
others. People would die because being a quality caregiver means putting someone else's needs
before your own. People who are dependent on others to survive would not make it. Relationships
would fall apart and we would cease to grow as a country because people would stop having kids.
Generation Me is already having a harder time raising children

Magnificent Seven Satire
Western and cowboy movies are two of the oldest types of movie genres ever made. People have
long had a fascination with the wild west and its lawlessness and often like to revisit it by watching
these kinds of movies. So many have been made that at times it might feel like nothing new can be
added to these stories and an attempt to do so is just revisiting old hat. The Magnificent Seven
makes an attempt at not only adding to the lineage of western movies but also retells a story of a
movie considered by some to be a classic. The Magnificent Seven might not live up to the original
movie in the minds of movie critics and typical western movie fans. To the nontypical western fan
that did not see the original it can still hit all the right notes of action, slight comedy, and violence to
keep their interest. Add to that fact we end up watching a truly diverse group of misfit cowboy grow
together to become heroes for a small western town. The total package is enough for ... Show more

The Magnificent Seven does its share to keep up that trend. Basically, the movie spends the whole
time building up to the climatic and the epic fight between Chisolm, and Bogue. The fight does not
disappoint in any way, shape or form either. It can feel a tad bit too violent, but it will keep you on
the edge of your seat. Aside from the final fight scene, there are plenty of other action packed, and
violent scenes to keep you interested like appetizers before the big feast. You could include the early
scene where one of Rose Creek is brutally killed by one of Bogue's henchmen with a tomahawk. It's
a scene that sets the tone for the violence that is to come. This movie isn't as much about the depth
of its story as it is about action and straddling the line of too much violence. It might be best
described as one movie critic for Rolling Stone writes "It's two hours of hardcore, shoot–em–up pow
and it's entertaining as hell."

The Power Of Conformity Essay

  • 1. The Power of Conformity Essay The Power of Conformity Conformity refers to an individual's behavior that is performed because of group pressure, even though that pressure might not involve a direct request. Many people want to think that they are conformist enough so that they are not looked upon as strange to others and nonconformist enough to demonstrate that they are capable of thinking by themselves. For many years, psychologists have been interested in human conformity. Usually when people are in groups, they behave according to how those in the group behave. That indicates that conformity can affect a person's behavior and make a person do things that may be against their ethics, attitudes, and morals. The study of ... An experimenter held up one of the cards and the subjects had to match on of the lines with the single line. For the first two cards, the seven matched the two pairs on lines correctly. The eighth subject answered correctly as well. On the third pair of cards, the seven subjects answered wrong to see if the eighth subject would conform or answer correctly. Asch found out that 75% of the subjects conformed at least once in the trials, but not one person conformed every time. The other 25% did not conform with any of the groups decisions. Some of the experiments had the subjects write down their answer so the line lengths could be accurately judged. In these experiments, 98% of the real subjects answered correctly. Asch found out many things from the experiment. Some of the findings are social support, attraction and commitment to the group, size of the group, and sex. Asch did the same experiment with a slight variation. He changed the answers of the seven subjects so that one of them always gave the right answer. This comforted the real subject and only 5% of the subjects agreed with the group answer. This social support experiment showed that if one person gives the same answer then a person feels more comfortable. Also, other experiments showed that the more attracted and committed ... • 5. Rigor Redefined Summary Tony Wagner's article, "Rigor Redefined," was a very interesting article. I agree that we need to teach our students these seven skills so they can be productive citizens in the future. However, I think we should not focus on teaching just these seven skills. We also need to help our students develop good character traits. This includes teaching them respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness, as well as the other pillars of good character. These traits combined with the seven skills that Wagner writes about, could help the students achieve great things once they leave our classrooms. My instructional model includes five of the seven skills that are mentioned in the article. The first part of my instructional model includes me teaching the students information through a variety of ways. This does not apply to any of the seven skills, but instead is an input of information they will use to eventually learn the other skills. The second piece of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When students work in groups to prepare presentations for the class and the teacher, it requires them to collaborate with each other on what information to include and how to present this information. I will require each student in a group to participate in the presentation, which would result in oral communication for every student in the class. The researching from the second part of my instructional model and the papers and exams of the third section require the students to analyze and access information. I will write prompts for the papers that will require the students to analyze the information they have learned and to also access the information from their research. I will also use some essay questions on the exams so the students can analyze the information there as well. The papers and exams would also require effective written ... • 13. Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool In "We Real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks, seven boys are cutting school to go to a pool hall named The Golden Shovel. They drink, party, and are showing off. This type of fast, rough living will eventually lead to their death. The boys want to be defined by their rebellious actions, which place them at odds with polite society. Gwendolyn Brooks was inspired by her Chicago neighborhood when she wrote this poem. One day Brooks was walking down the street and happened to cross by a pool hall; Inside she saw a bunch of young boys. This being in the middle of the day, she was suspicious whether these boys may have either skipped school or possibly dropped out. What she saw in the pool hall was not merely the boys playing pool but the boldness and insecurity of these such boys. They were thumbing their noses at society by hanging out at a place populated by gamblers and pool sharks – on a school day. Spending the day in a dingy, dimly lit room seems more like something one would do to look cool, as opposed to actually being cool. ( ADD HARLEM RENAISSANCE CONNECTION HERE). Brooks develops a jazzy, monosyllabic foot poem, which uses its internal masculine rhymes, caesuras, and selective diction to suggest that living rough will lead to a early death and relation to harlem renaissance. ... • 17. The Historical Representation Of The Canadian Wilderness Alfred Joseph Casson's (1898–1992) art work captures more than the historical representation of the idyllic landscape of the Canadian wilderness. It is the premise of this paper, Casson's paintings reflect and represent the economic and political environment of two time periods – Post World War I and the Great Depression, and post–World War II. The two examples of his paintings are, The Old Mill Elora, (35.6 x 40.7 cm), 1930, watercolour on paper, in private collection, painted post–World War I during the great depression; and the other Prelude, 1945, oil on Masonite, (76.2 x 91.5 cm), in The Faculty Club, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, painted post–World War II (Paul Duval, 1980, p. 18). Comparative analysis of these two paintings will support this theory as well as research. Casson's personal perspective was influenced by the economic and political environment at these times which were recorded through his art work, both in his commercial career as an engraver and designer, and, as an artist. One could argue, Casson was a blend of creative commercial genius and artistic designer that communicated the ideology of rural landscapes and rustic buildings into his paintings. The sharp lines and block colors are reminiscent of the lithographic designs. He represented craftsmanship and creative quality in his commercial work and art. His field excursions to remote areas in Ontario were artistic experiences to sketch and paint as part of his development of his skills. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rennie Harris Research Paper Uduak Ubom Dance 2303 Professor Shani Sterling May 30, 2018 PUREMOVEMENT BY RENNIE HARRIS Rennie Harris was born on January 28, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rennie was raised in an African–American community, Rennie Harris was inspired by Don Campbell Lockers after seeing them on the popular TV show called "Soul Train". He started dancing socially as a kid but when Rennie turned 12 years he officially started a dance group called Cobra III with his brother and childhood friend nicknamed "Brainy". Cobra lll entered and won a local church talent show, this marked the beginning of Harris' life commitment to dance. In 1992 he founded Rennie Harris Puremovement, a hip–hop dance theater company ... In my opinion the dance and Harries intent was successful because it personally made me view hip– hop differently rather than rap, swag and sway and act like a gangster, I realized that real hip–hop dancers do not have time to do all that because they are doing party dances, with vocabulary and steps and partner. Harris was able to take street dance and put it on the stage. The hip–hop dancers were trained and they delivered the dance professionally. The design of the dance was magical, there was concentration, cooperation, communication and creativity. The dancers maintained the rhythm and the shape of the body was shown by the body and the way it made use of time and space. They costumes being a key component in the moves matched the description of the dance and this made the choreographer's idea successful. • 29. Poem Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks Gwendolyn Brooks' poem "We Real Cool" was published in 1960. Brooks was raised in the South Side of Chicago, and Chicago was known as the center of blues and jazz culture. In 1960, John F. Kennedy ran for the Democratic party. The main theme is destructive values. The poem is based on the thoughts Brooks had when she experienced a scene similar to the one in the poem in real life. She reflected over their actions and what they would bring to them later in life, that was what inspired Brooks to write her poem. "We Real Cool" has four stanzas, with the word "we" at the beginning of every sentence. The diction in this poem is very simple, and there are some grammatical errors that demonstrate the lack of education the boys have. The poem's tone is quite grim, feeding into the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem opens with "THE POOL PLAYERS. SEVEN AT THE GOLDEN SHOVEL", as if it were a play. Golden Shovel is the name of the pool house and the number seven is considered a lucky number among gamblers. The color gold is associated with wealth, prosperity, youth and sunshine. Shovels are associated with death and the burial of the dead. There are seven young men at the Golden Shovel. Seven young men who will not prosper and will have no wealth, whose youth will be lost because they will have no education to prosper, and they will be exposed to the hardships of like early. The poem is narrated by the seven boys. They begin with "We real cool" (line 1), and their incorrect grammar is shown, demonstrating how they obviously dropped out of school. The way they speak is in an uneducated manner. "We left school" (line 2), makes the boys sound sound arrogant, like hey are showing off being drop–outs and receiving no education. It is unknown whether they skipped school or dropped out, but given what the rest of the poem says, it seems like they dropped out and are proud of it. In an interview with ... On the seventh day of March in seventeen eighty–six, around the same time when Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) appeared, he finished the magnificent concerto. The lovely concerto contains many instruments, including the piano, two clarinets, the flute, two horns, two bassoons, and string instruments. Heaven only knows for sure where and when the first concerto was performed. However, on the twelfth day of January in nineteen thirty, George Stewart McManus performed the marvelous concerto in Los Angeles for the first time. When the Exposition theme is restated as part of the movement, it is known as the Recapitulation. In Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488, the Recapitulation is when the soloist is accompanied by the orchestra. There are many similarities between the exposition description and the recapitulation description. However, there are also quite a few differences. The first theme group in the exposition lasts from measures one through sixty–six, whereas the first theme group in the recapitulation lasts from measures begins at measure one–hundred and ninety–eight, and then ends at two hundred and eighty–four. The first theme group of the exposition has a two–bar cadential extension with a sixteen–bar double period. Many wonder how the first theme in the recapitulation is derived from the exposition? That is because there is and exposition version of the variation that has no extensions. In the Exposition, the transition lasts from measures eighteen through thirty– three. In the Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two hundred and twenty–eighth measure. The second theme of the recapitulation is derived from the exposition, because the second theme of the exposition has a thirty–one to forty–six bar double period, along with a seven–bar shortened sentence, a three–bar interpolation, and closing with a four–bar phrase. I am nothing."(The Seven–Stage Hate Model: The Psychopathology of Hate Groups 2003) Hate groups, something even more vicious than gangs, are not motivated over money or goods but motivated by hate. There is one other thing that differentiates gangs and hate groups, hate group's recruiting can rely on children. If they can influence one child into a hate group, that child can influence many others into what almost seems like a gaping black hole. Hydrogen Peroxidase Lab Report The purpose of this lab was to investigate the effect of enzyme concentration (hydrogen peroxidase), substrate concentration (H2O2), pH, and temperature on the rate of H2O2 breakdown. As seen in all Data Table: Procedure 1 Group A, and Procedure 1: Effect of Temperature on Rate Rate A, if the temperature was increased, then the rate of reaction will increase. This trend held true until the point of denaturation, in which the rate immediately became zero. This was because an enzyme is a protein, so when heated beyond its capacity, its structure was scrambled and therefore became denatured. Besides the fact that the time became infinite, causing the rate to be zero, the data seemed to support Hypothesis 1. This data should have been correct, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data supported Hypothesis 4 and the trend seemed to be linear. The results were obtained due to the fact that with an increase of concentration, there were more substrates in the substance, which led to more encounters with an enzyme in the allotted time. With a higher probability of finding an enzyme, the rate of reaction would be increase. There only seemed to be one point slightly out of place in Group A's Procedure 4. The only source of error in this circumstance would be, as previously described, only due to the reaction time with the timer, and the exact depth the filter paper was released. Ways in which the decomposition reaction of hydrogen peroxide could be affected was learned. The lab exercise enhanced the understanding of the topic beyond textbook reading and class discussions through an engaging hands–on experience. The overall results could be applied to the issue regarding global warming. Through this short summary I will highlight their history, their style of painting and the important role they play in our Canadian history. The history of the Group of Seven is interesting to the core; the group was established in the 1920 as a group of independent modern artists. The group consist of many great Canadian artists who were very important to Canadian history during the twentieth–century. Their style might be a little different, however, they used many bright colours such as "tactile paint handling, and simple yet dynamic forms" (Varley, 2013, P.1.). The group has transformed Canadian northern forest and lakes into wonderful spiritual forces. Though the group mainly consisted of Canadian artists, they have also influenced others such as an abstract artist Jack Bush and Peter Doig who was a contemporary figure painter (Varley, 2013). ... Canadian culture can be found through artistic, musical, literary, culinary and political and social elements. Dennis Lee believed that "If you're Canadian; you don't really have a place to call home". (Dennis, 1974). A seven minute workout is sufficient to get the body in great shape, feel health and enjoy the benefits of exercise. Unlike other routines that take an hour or more every day, the goal of working out for only seven minutes is getting in shape on a tight schedule. How The Workout Works: Understanding the keys of why the workout is effective despite the limited amount of time is an important part of getting in shape. The Role Of The Native American Indians Seven Years ' War in North America Anglelyn Washington University of Texas at Arlington U.S. History 1311 Professor Nathaniel Goodwin 14 November 2014 Seven Years ' War in North America: The Role of the Native American Indians Native American Indians played a larger role in the Seven Years ' War than they tend to be credited in many history books. While it cannot be denied that the Native Americans certainly were used as "pawns" of the European soldiers, this essential group was also motivated on its own to fight. However, there is little doubt that the Native Americans would not have had involvement in the Seven Years ' War without the nudging of leaders such as Jeffrey Amherst on the British side. ² While many – if not most – of the European soldiers did not consider the Native American Indians to be valuable as people, they still contributed lasting culture changes to the English colonists in America, their own battle strategies and trade to the French as well as a new perspective on war and life in general during the Seven Years ' War, which proved to be invaluable. In studying the Seven Years ' War, it has been made abundantly clear that different groups reacted in their own individual ways to the Native American Indians. It is probably fair to say that no one at the time realized the importance of the Native Americans, though the French did of course tend to tolerate them more as allies to further their own agenda. Dr. Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa to help African–Americans remember their roots and to foster unity during a time of incredible racial strife. It's been observed from December 26 to January 1 every year since 1966. Karenga, a controversial figure in the black power movement, openly opposed Christian beliefs and originally declared that Kwanzaa should be an anti–Christmas of sorts. The name Kwanzaa is derived from matunda ya kwanza, a Swahili phrase for "first fruits," is based on traditional African harvest festivals, combining customs from several different cultures. Each of the seven days represents one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or nguzo saba. There are also seven symbols of Kwanzaa, which celebrants display prominently in their homes throughout the holiday. The colors of Kwanzaa are red, black and green –– the colors of the Pan–African flag, which symbolizes unity among African people all over the world. Black represents the people, red their blood and green the earth and the future. Kwanzaa is, of course, a festive time; it has all the feasting and celebrating you'd expect from a weeklong holiday, but it's also an occasion for reflection, conversation, contemplation and camaraderie. And although it's a relatively young holiday, it has its fair share of very specific, detailed traditions." (Cooper, A. (2011, July 25). Kwanzaa: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Canada's unique history and geography has contributed to Canada's national identity, however many people still question, what does it means to be Canadian? Thus a national identity crisis occurs, and although ethnicity and diversity is apart of Canadian identity, it also challenges it by having many differences with one another. The term "secret handshake" is a specific gesture known between two parties; this connection is only meant to be understood by Canadians. Coupland's exhibition investigates Canadian cultural identity by using imagery and objects that is symbolic to Canadians.2 The souvenirs that he has of Canada in this exhibition, reminds people about their complexity of their nation and its origins, something that is easily forgotten because multiculturalism/ pluralism overwrites/is more important than Canada's unique history. Apart of this exhibition is the G7 Series, which appropriates many iconic works of The Group of Seven. Coupland chooses the Group of Seven to feature in his works because their representation of Canadian wilderness still shapes Canadians' ideas about their homeland and about art, making them a national symbol. In his novel, Souvenir of Canada, Coupland writes, "they brought Canada alive... The paintings of the Group of Seven are like a code... a 'secret handshake among Canadians,' something meaningless to audiences outside the country." Broken Eggsproblem Page 1 of 2 ZOOM Broken EggsProblem Statement: The situation in this assignment is a farmer is taking her eggs to the market in her cart, but along the way she drops her eggs cracking most of them. So, then she goes to her insurance agent to ask how many eggs she had. The insurance agent wasn't sure, but she remembers she package the eggs in a certain pattern. This certain pattern was when she put the eggs in a group of seven there was no egg left over, but when she put them groups of 2,3,4,5, and 6 there was always one left over with those #s. So, are there more than one possibility in this situation?Process: Firstly, I tried to find multiples of seven, and I tried to find multiples of seven because, in the problem sentence it said that when the lady put the eggs in groups of seven it had no eggs left over. But, in those multiples of seven I tried to find if I divided the number by 2,3,4,5, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that, I'd have to see if the one's place had a one because, the multiples of 7 that ended with one would qualify for getting a remainder of 1 if I divided by 2,3,4,5, and 6.But, things that work out for me is finding multiples of 7 that didn't end in 1 because, I'd thought most of them didn't have to end in one but, ... • 125. Role Of The Native American Indians Seven Years ' War in North America Marie Cherry U.S. History 13 November 2014 Seven Years ' War in North America: The Role of the Native American Indians Native American Indians played a larger role in the Seven Years ' War than they tend to be credited in many history books. ¹ In studying the Seven Years ' War, it has been made abundantly clear that different groups reacted in their own individual ways to the Native American Indians. It is probably fair to say that no one at the time realized the importance of the Native Americans, though the French did of course tend to tolerate them more as allies to further their own agenda. The mistreatment did not change the fact that the Native Americans had a huge impact on the English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 129. 7 Habits Research What are the seven habits meant for? The seven habits are meant to inspire people into bettering their everyday lives in society. Also, the seven habits are meant to create routine. By creating routine, you or the person that is following these steps can plan out their next move (e.g. When playing chess, each chess player will plan ahead on which move they will make and will try to anticipate the other players moves). We each have points in life that we need to improve on, yet, many don't hold themselves to those 'promises' that they make to themselves to change their ways. For instance, one of the seven habits that I believe I am good at is habit one. The reason I believe I am good at habit one is because, each night before school I pack my backpack. Also, I start any homework I know is going to be given/due soon (depending on whether or not I get a class syllabus). Considering many assignments/tests/quizzes/exams are given during the four years of high school, I spend thirty minutes at least a day studying my class notes. This helps me pass my assignments/tests/quizzes/exams. Yet, all people need to improve on subjects/categories in life. The habit I believe I need to improve on is habit six, synergize. This is because I am used to working individually and I am also a perfectionist when it comes to my notes/writing (in general). To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it may seem like you may not need to improve in any areas, but there are always areas in which we as a society/Homosapiens can improve in. Also, I hope to improve in habit six, and to continue my ways in being proactive (habit one). In the end, the seven habits have changed the way many look at themselves, and the path they are on/leaving for posterity. Therefore, the seven habits do not only affect you, they affect your surroundings as well. (e.g. Paragraph three; group project based on Earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 133. The Role Of Pollution In Conodoguinet Creek The Conodoguinet Creek flows 101 miles through the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania. We traveled to just a small portion of the Conodoguinet Creek. In our area eutrophication and acid rain are common. Eutrophication is caused by sewage treatment plants, home sewage systems, and fertilizer runoff. Acid rain is caused by fossil fuel burning. If we were to test the Conodoguinet Creek for signs of acid rain, eutrophication or other types of pollution, then it would test with high levels of pollution. That way my hypothesis and what I thought about the pollution in the Conodoguinet Creek before I went there and tested the water. But if you divide it by 301 eggs divided by seven is 43, and it This broken eggs assignment had rules that applied to it to make it a specific number. These rules were that if you divide it by 2,3,4,5, or 6, you would have 1 left over. The other rule was that it has to fit into a group of seven perfectly. My process to solve this problem is as follows: I started out by picking 1 to 20, but none of the numbers fit all of the rules that applied. I remembered that it could perfectly go into a group of seven. Then I tried 21, but that didn't fit either. I kept going up by multiples of seven trying to find one that fit all of ... • 141. Adolescent Esteem And Self Esteem Narcissism in the younger generations is at an all–time high. This means that the younger generation is less caring, less civil minded, and more likely to cheat (Twenge, 2014, p. 98,100). They may even be more likely to commit mass shootings (p. 99). Narcissism can be defined as excessively high self–esteem (Twenge, 2014, p. 92). What has caused high rates of narcissism in Generation Me? There is a multitude of factors, but most prominent are the deterioration of community values, childhood self–esteem boosting, and our society's fear of low self–esteem. The first step in solving this issue is helping raise awareness that it is an issue. Most often narcissism is seen as normal or even humorous. It is something that we don't take seriously and we tend to avoid narcissistic people rather than trying to prevent them from becoming narcissistic. Everyone knows what narcissism is and what generally causes it, but it is rarely seen as a serious issue. However, we could not survive if everyone in this country was a narcissist. Organizations and companies would fall apart as people did things to make themselves happy rather than to serve others. People would die because being a quality caregiver means putting someone else's needs before your own. People who are dependent on others to survive would not make it. Relationships would fall apart and we would cease to grow as a country because people would stop having kids. Generation Me is already having a harder time raising children ... • 145. Magnificent Seven Satire Western and cowboy movies are two of the oldest types of movie genres ever made. People have long had a fascination with the wild west and its lawlessness and often like to revisit it by watching these kinds of movies. So many have been made that at times it might feel like nothing new can be added to these stories and an attempt to do so is just revisiting old hat. The Magnificent Seven makes an attempt at not only adding to the lineage of western movies but also retells a story of a movie considered by some to be a classic. The Magnificent Seven might not live up to the original movie in the minds of movie critics and typical western movie fans. To the nontypical western fan that did not see the original it can still hit all the right notes of action, slight comedy, and violence to keep their interest. Add to that fact we end up watching a truly diverse group of misfit cowboy grow together to become heroes for a small western town. The total package is enough for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Magnificent Seven does its share to keep up that trend. Basically, the movie spends the whole time building up to the climatic and the epic fight between Chisolm, and Bogue. The fight does not disappoint in any way, shape or form either. It can feel a tad bit too violent, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Aside from the final fight scene, there are plenty of other action packed, and violent scenes to keep you interested like appetizers before the big feast. You could include the early scene where one of Rose Creek is brutally killed by one of Bogue's henchmen with a tomahawk. It's a scene that sets the tone for the violence that is to come. This movie isn't as much about the depth of its story as it is about action and straddling the line of too much violence. It might be best described as one movie critic for Rolling Stone writes "It's two hours of hardcore, shoot–em–up pow and it's entertaining as hell." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
