Scope and Purpose of the Job
Assists the General Manager in th running of the Hotel to ensure that guest services are
consistent with set standard of service and quality, and the desired profitability.
Succesfully markets the Hotel’s product and services.
Ensures a congenial atmosphere in which employees can perform to the best of their
ability.
Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of departments assigned to his
supervision.
Hospitality experience:
Worked at Best Western Cape Suites in Cape Town as reception and night audit relief
(1998 – 2003)
Check- in and Out guests. Provide customer service. Operating point of sale. Filing and
handle messages, mail and written communication. Provide customer information and
book external services. Prepare customer accounts. Exchange foreign cash and travelers
cheques. Receive reservations.
Worked at City Lodge Pinelands as reception and night relief (2003 – 2005)
Check-in and out guests. Provide customer services. Operating payment point of sale.
Filing. Handle messages, mail, and written communication. Provide customer

members. Ensure that the company disciplinary abd grieviance procedures are geing
adhered to, using HHP File. Ensure that personnel records are being kept up to date at all
times. Ensure that all required information is entered on the intranet, ie Record water,
Electricity accounts total and staff meeting. Ensure that all contacts are managed as per
Company requirements, ie Service Level Agreements with suppliers are done as per
agreed times. Ensure that the daily reports are checked, balanced and signed, ie DBS
reports. Ensure that all accounting procedures are being adhered to. Ie purchasing is in
line wiyh the Company Manuall. Ensure that the Hotel us Fully complient with KPMG
Audit requirements. Ensure that Mont-End is completed and compiled as per Month-End
check list provided by head Office. Ensure that Financial Year is compiled as per
Financial Year End checklist Head Office Requirements. Ensure that sgift banking is
compliant with gap Analysis. Ensure that all expenditure is noted correctly, within
budget as per audit requirements and that the average room rate is archived. Ensure that
Hotel is fully compliant with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.Ensure that
cost percentage is in line with budget, stock take is accurate, information is captured
accurately, and investigated and resolve wasted or pilfering. Ensure that you are aware of
Asset Register and disposal of Asset Documentation requirements. Meet and Exceed
bughet occupancies. Ensure that all invoices are processed.
