1. Question 3
Audience feedback that was given to us was honest and helpful this will give
us a lot to talk about and reflect on our overall performance.
Before we made the final edit, there were several comments made about
continuity, syncing and sound. In the rough cut in one scene the character
wore a light coloured t shirt, then in another shot the t shirt changed to a dark
colour, so to make sure we don’t get marked down on this we changed the
shots and shot it again but made sure the clothing was the same in the entire
music video. There was an issue with the syncing, the drums and vocals
appeared to be a little off; this meant we had to sacrifice a few lessons in
order to make sure the music video was all in sync. Furthermore, the sound in
the music video went up and down in volume, to make sure this didn’t happen
again we took out the sound for the music video (Second and Sebring – Of
Mice and Men) and then placed it back into the editing software, we added
compression to the track in the music department, this made sure the track
didn’t go too quiet or didn’t peak too much, after we placed it back into the edit
we checked thoroughly that it was all in sync, then rendered.
After the music video was completed, in our group we analysed our music
video and covered the elements that let us down in the previous feedback
prior to the completion of the music video, we felt as though it was up to a
substantial level, the most important element we felt as though was the
syncing, we made sure syncing was well in tact. But during audience
feedback we got mixed comments, which were positive and negative
People mentioned that the narrative was not clear, however some understood
it and thought it worked really well, which really boosted our confidence and
creativity, it was a massive relief. Most of the feedback related to the good
use of camera shots, in our group we panicked thinking we hadn’t done
enough but in the end it worked out for the best.
If we were to improve on our work for future references we would need to take
a few things into account: We would make sure the narrative was planned out
thoroughly and try out at least 4 or 5 different ones and gather a favorite one.
Also we will take shots into account that our song choice wasn’t the best, as
people don’t usually agree with the fast paced heavy music, also it was
difficult to gather information for our advert and digi pack analysis.
