The document outlines a full-day staff development for teachers focused on integrating technology into the curriculum. The staff development will cover weaker areas identified in previous reports like the STaR Chart and AEIS data, as well as expectations in the district's Strategic Technology Plan. Teachers will participate in activities like a website scavenger hunt, learning about podcasts and creating a podcast introduction, creating instructional videos for their webpage, setting up a classroom blog, and planning technology integration in their subject areas. The principal will monitor progress on teachers' webpages, technology use in lessons, and student work.
1. Based on results from the STaR Chart, data gathered from the AEIS report, and
expectations listed in the Strategic Technology Plan of the district, the following
staff development will be presented as a full day in-service. The areas being
addressed are in line to achieve the standards set forth in the 2004-2009
Strategic Technology Plan (integrate technology throughout the curriculum,
utilize audio, visual, and written technology media, and set up teacher web pages
that show proficiency in technology applications). The areas also cover the
weaker areas of the STaR Chart results (TA TEKS Implementation, Student
Mastery of Technology Applications, and Online Learning). AEIS data provides
an emphasis on subject areas that are low in standardized testing. The areas of
science and math will be part of the focus for the staff development.
After the staff development has been presented, the principal will monitor
progress in the areas addressed in the presentation. Benchmarks will be given
throughout the year in each subject area. If average scores increase 5
percentage points for each benchmark, sufficient progress will have been made.
Teachers will be expected to maintain their web pages and keep them up-to-date
using the media presented in the staff development. The principal will monitor
faculty web pages to ensure expectations are being met. Teachers will also be
expected to utilize at least one type of media for student products each 6 weeks.
The principal will monitor progress through weekly lesson plans and a technology
night to “show off” student products.
