2. Camera+Preliminary Task
During the process for the preliminary task
I developed a range of skills that helped me
in my main task. For example, for camera i
learned how to take a range of shots in
different angles. I also developed the range
of camera shots from a medium close up to
an extreme close up. For my main task I
mainly focused on two things: Facial
expression of artist and costume of artist.
For my my front cover I managed to get a
medium close up of my artist after so many
trials. While trying to get this shot done I
took them so many times in different
angles and tried different shots.
3. Lighting
+Preliminary Task
During the preliminary task I experimented with light using spotlights
and also natural sunlight. This helped me in the main task so I could
decide which type of lighting I would like to use and also which fits the
most with the picture and the overall genre. In my main task, I used
mostly natural sun light then editing it on Photoshop either making it
more bright or less bright. Some of the pictures I took did not require
any changes of the brightness, however, my front cover photo
required a lot of brightness since the picture was edited to being black
and white and made the artist’s face dark and not visible. This did take
me most of my time but at the end it was manageable and it turned out
better than expected. On the next slide there should be a video on how
I edited the brightness in Photoshop.
5. Photoshop
+Preliminary Task
During the preliminary task I watched some YouTube clips to help me
become more familiar with some of the tools that I will be using. Also,
during the preliminary task I learned how to edit the picture very
smoothly and not make it seem like it is heavily edited. Since Photoshop
was a very difficult programme to use since I only know the basics and I
had to use more than that to be able to get through my magazine pages.
I used Photoshop for many features such as removing the background of
some pictures, editing the brightness and editing the overall photo it
self. I used many tools in photo shop such as the dodge tool for whiting
some areas of the photo and the burn tool to fix some make up on the
eyes or make any aspect of the photo darker.
7. Mise En Scene
+Preliminary Task
Location: In the preliminary task thinking about location was a very big thing for
me. Since most of this was done in school the amount of places we have was
very limited. For my preliminary task most of the photos were taken in the 6th
form area or somewhere inside the school. For the main task location was not a
problem. For my front cover there was no location other than the photo was
taken in the classroom. For the contents page the aim was to have the photo
taken in a place that looks like a waste land. It was taken at the back of the
school where there was nothing but pipes and rocks.
Overall costume: In the preliminary task the over all look did not matter since it
was only a practice task. Most of the photos were taken in the school uniform.
However, for the main task I did so many research about common clothing
female rappers would wear and most of the clothing was very open. My main
clothing was the traditional Arab clothing since this was aimed at Arabs mostly.
8. Colour Scheme
+Preliminary Task
For the preliminary task my colour schemes were the same throughout
the whole 2 pages. My colours used were black and red and mainly
white. For my main task I have kept this the exact same however I used
more black than white. My skills developed when I started using the 3
colours differently where it made the text pop out mostly and appeal to
the audience.
9. Font
Styles/Sizes+Preliminary Task
In my preliminary task my font
styles were very simple and normal
fonts that come with the
programme that was used. This
made my magazine pages look very
dull and boring at some aspects. In
my main task, I downloaded some
fonts form the font apace website
and used it. The size for the font
used as titles was mainly over 100,
the normal writing font was
between 12-18. I mainly used the
bold fonts so it could stand out
more to catch the eyes of the
audiences.
10. Organisation
Organisation was the key feature to this whole project since
everything had to be timed and done in a certain time In order
to make things right. In my preliminary task finding someone
to be my main focus was easy since it was a practice and it was
very quick. However, for my main task I took over a month to
find a female that would agree to do this for the project. The
time in the main task wasn’t that great because of the mistakes
I made which I had to redo more than once. Throughout the
project I started keeping in track of the time since it was very
fast and we didn’t have much time.
