Drew Awoke In A Cold Sweat. He Had Had The Same Recurring
Drew awoke in a cold sweat. He had had the same recurring dream, night after night. In his dreams,
he awoke in a church, or at least he assumed it was church from his many personal visits. Black and
white squares tiles plastered the walls like interconnecting dominos. The walls were bare, with no
windows in sight, which made the gold and black coffin at the front stand out. He stood by the door
behind the rows of pews filled with creepy figures donned in black and wore pasty white smiling
masks. His skin crawled every time he looked at their faces or the lack of them. The masks latched
to their faces as though they were one of the same, with the mask's edges that edged into their skulls.
Time was a weird and volatile thing in Drew's dream ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This included his father's return from a long business trip, birthdays, Christmas or Easter, or when
she had annual leave. The reason was a mixture of two. Drew 's Dad returned from a month–long
trip and it was already school Christmas holidays. Over breakfast, Drew's dad caught up with Drew
and the thing that replicated Asher. Asher's Reproba was distinctly accurate. The illusionary puppet
did all that it was programmed to do, but Drew could never be fooled. None that was aware
believed. Instead of filling a hole, it was a cold reminder of what had happened the past week. No
matter how much the Rebroba attempted to act like Asher, it could never be the real Asher. Drew
wished his parents noticed so he wouldn't have to lie anymore, but none did. Although, his mum
frequently asked if Asher was alright as something was different. The previous night, before his dad
flew in, Drew woke to his mother's quiet cries. He did not know the reason. He did not ask. At the
breakfast table, Drew's mum looked at both Drew and Asher's Reproba as if she searched for
something.
"Are you two alright," Mum said. "You've been acting extremely weird."
"Yeah," Drew said. "Why wouldn't we be?"
"I hope you haven't gotten yourselves mixed in something and you're being safe."
"Honey," Dad said, placing his hand over Mum's own. "We know our boys. They're not

The Recurring Theme of Revenge in Shakespeare's Hamlet
Whether or not the readers enjoy reading or are fond of the play, Hamlet, it's obviously true that
Hamlet's procrastination on taking revenge for his father's death is a constantly recurring theme
throughout the play. To begin with, after the ghost reveals the truth of Claudius killing King Hamlet
Sr to Hamlet and demands Hamlet to seek revenge, Hamlet is somewhat convinced but mostly
unsure about what he heard from the ghost, "The spirit that I have seen may be a devil, and the devil
hath power t'assume a pleasing shape, yea, and perhaps, out of my weakness and melancholy, as he
is very potent with such spirits, abuse me to damn me..catch the conscience of the king" (2.2.587–
594). The sudden appearance of the ghost triggers Hamlet's suspicion of the ghost's real identity, in
which Hamlet's carefulness not only leads to showing a performance, which corresponds to his
father's death to test the conscience of Claudius, but also delays his vengeance.
Besides, Hamlet fails to take revenge because of the perfectionism although he has a proper
opportunity. When Hamlet encounters Claudius praying, Hamlet confirms what the ghost tells him
but he does not carry out his revenge immediately. Now might I do it pat, now he is a praying. And
now I'll do't. And so he goes to heaven; and so am I revenged. That would be scanned: a villain kills
my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain to heavenî (3.3.76–82). Hamlet himself
wants Claudius to go straight to

Human Trafficking Been A Recurring Issue Throughout History?
Why has human trafficking been a recurring issue throughout history? The word "Freedom" is a
right that most humans take for granted each day. Unfortunately, throughout the world, not everyone
has this beloved privilege. Millions of unlucky men, women, and children are being executed or
forced into what is known as a modern day slavery. The International Labor Organization estimates
that there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the
United States. For thousands of years, humans have been forced into numerous forms of sexual and
physical slavery. Human Trafficking has been a recurring issue throughout history because of its
lack of awareness, economical burden on people, and financial gain for smugglers. Initially, human
trafficking is a global issue that many are unfamiliar with or unaccustomed to. For example, Jeanne
Allert, executive director of The Samaritan Women, which runs the Maryland Rescue and Restore
Coalition on human trafficking states that, "There is simply a reluctance to accept that children in
this area are victims of sex trafficking," and "People do not believe it happens in the States." In most
communities, awareness of human trafficking is not present because society does not want to believe
that human trafficking exists around them. Communities that have tried to publicly make address the
issue of human trafficking have failed because of the confusion regarding who is the victim. In the
United States,

Recurring Themes In Sweat By Zora Neal Hurson
In the short story "Sweat" by Zora Neal Hurson, the setting takes place in the nineteen twenties in
Florida and has many themes, such as marriage, society, religion, gender roles and ect. Hurson
writes about the troubles of a woman who has to deal with her cheating and abusive husband, Sykes.
He leaves a snake in their house to torment his wife, Delia, and when the snake bites him, Delia
does nothing to help him and she is not wrong for that. In the story, Sykes is described as anything
but honorable. The story starts off with Sykes pretending a bullwhip is a snake to scare Delia,
knowing how terrified of snakes she is. Also, while Delia is working on cleaning clothes, Sykes
kicks it on the floor and calls her a hypocrite for working on the Sabbath day. Even though Sykes is
not religious at all, he still mocks her and criticizes her for everything. Not only does he provoke
her, he also cheats and abuses her. He is always threatening her and beating her and everyone in
town knows about it. Everyone also knows, including his wife Delia, that Sykes is cheating with
another woman named Bertha. Sykes has no shame and does not try to hide his mistress one bit. All
these characteristics about Sykes represents evil in the story. ... Show more content on

Delia refuses to move and because of this, Sykes captures a snake in a box and brings it into their
home to torment Delia. He does this out of spite and anger. When the snake escapes, Delia runs to
the barn for safety leaving the snake in the house for Sykes to later find it and get bit in the neck.
Delia did not purposely leave the snake in the house, but she was too afraid to get close enough to
remove the snake. So when Sykes gets bit on the neck, she does nothing to help him. While Sykes is
dying, Hurson describes the scene with powerful images with Delia waiting under a Chinaberry tree

The Recurring Motif In Henrik Ibsen's A Doll
Nora discovers her capabilities and true self worth by the end of the play, leaving Torvald and the
unsatisfactory life that she led with him. Nora is finally able to relieve herself from the doll's life she
has had and admits this: "I've been your doll wife here, just as at home I was Papa's doll–child"
(226). When Torvald not only questions her abilities as a woman, but also as a mother, the sole
purpose she held in life, Nora realizes that nothing can ever truly satisfy Torvald and there may not
be a point in staying in this prison–like household. Nora decides it is high time that she begins to
take care of herself before she sacrifices her life for her husband and children. From the mistakes
that Nora has made in her life, she discovers that the only way to improve her is through education:
"There's another task that I must finish first – I must try to educate myself" (227).

Friday Night Lights
Book Essay
Racism: A Recurring Theme in Friday Night Lights The surprisingly non–fiction novel, Friday
Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream, was written by H. G. Bissinger in 1990. The story
follows the Permian High School Panthers football team of 1998. The setting takes place in the town
of Odessa, Texas. Bissinger describes this town as, "the setting for this book, but it could be
anyplace in this vast land where, on a Friday night, a set of spindly stadium lights rises to the
heavens to so powerfully, and so briefly, ignite the darkness." (16). It highlights the teams attempt at
a Texas state championship with plenty of distractions and obstacles along the way. The main barrier
for players and staff of Permian High was racism. Some may find it hard to believe but in the town
of Odessa, desegregation was simply a "suggestion" and the community refused to accept the fact
that white and blacks are equal. It was not until the early eighties that Odessa desegregated.
To better understand the theme of racism throughout the novel towards African American players
and staff of Permian High, a school made up of almost ninety percent minorities, one must
understand the background on how this book came about. The other two schools were Caucasian
and almost entirely white schools. While at Harvard, Bissinger had an idea to write a book that was
focused on the impact that high school football had on American culture

Creative Writing: The Recurring Invasion
The Recurring Invasion
Screech! Bang! The windows were shattered and my best friend, Marie, was shaking vigorously me
to wake up. I jumped up sloppily and incoherently. She was screaming at me, "Come on! We have to
go! Out of the U.S.! We're being attacked! By Iran! I have my helicopter on its way to the roof! Let's
go!"
I tried to put my shoes on but Marie was dragging me away, out of the apartment.
"But what... what about breakfast?" I slurred.
"There's no time for that now!"
All I could hear was screaming and crashing of bombs as if rock were hurled upon rock against the
apartment building. I had just enough time to glance out the window, only to find our city of New
York in ruins; the Manhattan Bridge was collapsed and the Empire State Building ... Show more

While she did that, I realized the only escape was the roof. I raced to the exit and started smashing
out the window, this time being very careful with the glass. Then, I remembered the vase from the
dream and glanced in that direction; it was here. I shattered it with my bat and sure enough, there
was the key.
"Hurry up! There's too many of them!" Marie was getting tired out.
I unlocked the door. "It's open!", I screeched down to her.
Marie hollered, "Oh, thank God."
She swatted the last ninja she could and scurried up the stairs just in time to fly out the door and
allow me to slam it on the spies, locking it shut.
I scanned the neighboring rooftops.
"Ok, ok. The flooring building is right there. I think we can make it if we jump," I stated to Marie.
"What? Are you crazy?"
"Yep!" I yelped, squeezed her hand, ran, and jumped.
We landed on the building, tumbling like a flock of baby ducklings into a river. The spies were now
on the roof of the apartment building, not far behind. Marie started coughing and hacking, breathing
heavily.
"It's my asthma," cough, "the smoke," cough, "it's no big deal."
"It's ok. You can make it to Canadian authorities ok? You can do that alright?" I reassured her. She

Drought As A Recurring Extreme Climate Event
Drought as a recurring extreme climate event can be defined from various perspective, including
meteorological, hydrological, agricultural and socio–economic aspects. Materials and Methods
Study area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south–western part of Asia. The
climate is influenced by Iran 's location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern
Mediterranean area, the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features
like presence of the Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country
respectively, two large deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and
intensive elevation variability (from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in
central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1). Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran
has a variable climate however arid and semi–arid climate cover the majority of this country. This
climate characterized by long, hot, dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average
annual precipitation in Iran is approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the
higher mountain valleys of the Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at
least 500 mm annually. In the western part of the Caspian, annual precipitation exceeds 1,000 mm
and is distributed relatively evenly throughout the year. This contrasts with some basins of the

Comparison Essay Like Water for Chocolate vs. Things Fall...
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe are two
novels that revolve around the struggle of adapting to traditions. Both novels take place in areas
where tradition is fundamental. Therefore, the characters act different than those around them and
are unable to adjust to their traditional lifestyles. . The two main characters in both books, Tita and
Okonkwo, find it hard to live up to their own traditions, and fail to adapt to them as they go against
their people.
In the novel Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo the main character, refuses to accept the new traditions
because he thinks they are not manly enough. He believes that the political and religious reforms are
intolerable. Okonkwo supposes that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the novel, Tita never faces the fact that she cannot marry and still insists for
Pedro to come and ask for her hand in marriage. However, when he does, her mother advises him to
marry Rosaura so he does. Tita is then mad and depressed but little does she know that Pedro did
that in order to become close to her. This when Tita starts becoming isolated and loathes her sister
and mother for doing such a thing. In addition, I believe that this tradition will be left behind or
forgotten about by Tita because of her experiences. She will never put her daughters through what
she has went through because she felt the misery and sorrow of that tradition.
In Okonkwo's case however, he is isolated from his own family because of his lack of emotion,
which is also considered to be part of their traditions. Okonkwo never demonstrated his feeling
towards anything because he considers this unmanly which is believed to be not part of their
traditions. In contrast to Tita, Okonkwo started opening up to his family in the middle/end part of
the novel. For example, when his daughter Ezinma is sick, Okonkwo worriedly makes medicine and
does everything in his power to save his favorite child. Also, Okonkwo follows the priestess Chielo
and Ekwefi when the priestess unexpectedly kidnaps Ezinma. For the second time, Okonkwo
publicly displays emotions and compassion towards Ezinma.
In conclusion, both books are based on customs, traditions and

Pricing Models Of Marketing Campaigns
The membership economy is growing and with it comes a shift in revenue generation and consumer
demands. Adapting to these changes isn't optional. It's a requirement for all companies seeking to
stay in business.
From software to healthcare, multiple industries are adjusting from standard one–time purchases to
recurring pricing models. Customers would rather subscribe to on–demand Internet streaming
providers, instead of purchasing a DVD.
As new competitors emerge, this model will influence consumer expectations and market behaviors.
Brands will engage customers through marketing campaigns, leading to long–term relationships.
So, how will these changes affect you? Let's discuss how your company can thrive with a recurring
pricing model. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, create a strategy to monetize these relationships.
Make your customers' lives better, and they will be less reluctant to make the shift from owner of
products to subscriber of services.
Why Recurring Pricing Makes Sense
Companies adopt the recurring pricing model to create strategic business opportunities. A study by
Ventana Research shows that the primary business drivers for using such a model are "increasing the
top line, enhancing the customer experience, and increasing customer loyalty."
Source
Generating a steady cash flow reassures executives and keeps investors profitable. Recurring pricing
gives companies a clear outlook on next month's income; no more relying on revenue estimations.
Moreover, businesses can plan for growth. A stable revenue source means you don't have to secure
one–off contracts just to make payroll. Time and energy can be directed toward expansion, like
hiring new employees.
However, in the membership economy, companies must continually offer value to their consumers
to succeed. How do customers when with this model?
Recurring pricing offers reliability to consumers. In developed countries, most people expect
running water to be available 24/7. It's a given. This mindset is expanding to Internet access. We
expect every grocery store, coffee shop, and hotel chain to offer Wi–Fi.
Matt Meeker, BarkBox 's founder, told All Things Digital: "BarkBox wouldn 't have made much

Is Rehash And Put On The Tube The Negativity Of Life For...
Why rehash and put on the tube the negativity of life for every recurring commemoration? It 's
important to know what happened and remember the outcomes in our hearts, then put it to rest. Why
keep it alive and let the wounds keep on burning? Showing, and talking about it, keeps it alive and
as such, is an inspiration for the weak minds. We saw and heard the mimicking of those saddening
episodes multiplying, instead than diminishing, not to mention the special interest that lies behind
the feeding of the pain, orchestrated for the money that such recurrence can generate. What can be
targeted as a negative impact shouldn 't be kept alive, but replaced with a positive, for a positive
inspiration as a simple and healthy equation. They say we have to remember the negative that was
done. I say: I rather forget it, remembering a happy positive one, makes me feel better. What we are
projecting with our minds, is what we get, the option selected and what derives out of it, is rightfully
ours. We are wasting so much time, we are falling short in the progress of formulating a better
world. The reasons for such a delay, is due to the politicians trapped in their contorted games played
under the financial kingdom rules and the shortsightedness of their thousand–dollar suit soldiers
ruled by their unconscious fears. This is a mechanism that covers such a large gamut that falls too
short for fairness, leaving the state of affairs mutilated with no sign in sight of a very much–needed

Advantages Of Axis Bank Recurring Deposit
Recurring Deposit:
A Recurring Deposit (RD) is a special type of deposit that works similar to a Fixed Deposit (FD) in
which monthly or quarterly deposits are made that is fixed for a specific period of time. This is a
great way of saving a considerable amount of money for people who do not have a big chunk of
money at their disposal to invest in FD or in other types of investment plans.
A good example of an RD explains it clearly – Ramu wants to invest a sum of Rs. 50,000 in a FD
but he does not have the whole amount in–hand at the moment. In this situation, Ramu decides to
opt for a RD and deposit a sum of Rs. 5,000 every month for 10 months. This way he can
successfully save Rs. 50,000 and even get interest on it. RD was designed to benefit the middle–
class and lower section of the society who usually cannot invest in FD. It gives them an opportunity
to build good savings for future needs.
Axis Bank Recurring Deposit:
Axis Bank recurring deposit scheme comes with its several advantages. Individuals can invest a
minimum monthly sum of Rs. 500 and more in the multiples of Rs. 500. There is no maximum limit
on RD with Axis Bank. The minimum tenure for Axis Bank RD is 6 months whereas the maximum

Recurring Themes In The Odyssey And A Tale Of Two Cities
Interestingly Recurring Themes Great books share many common characteristics and often times
they share common themes. In the epic poem The Odyssey and the novel A Tale of Two Cities, the
two books share multiple common themes. Both of the books have been written by different authors
and at different time periods, but with close observation it is evident that there are some clear
similarities between the two books. The books share three distinct common themes, the themes
include the theme of revenge, the theme of love, and the theme of sacrifice. Reading the two books,
the readers are able to learn and process the theme of revenge from both of the books. In the poem it
is stated that Odysseus was "fighting at close quarters" to get his revenge upon the disgusting suitors
that plagued his house during his absence, he killed all the suitors that took advantage of his absence
and was disloyal to him (Homer 22.307). On the other hand, in the novel ... Show more content on

In the epic poem, the theme of injustice is shown through Calypso's imprisonment of Odysseus for
seven years. It is stated that Calypso "held [Odysseus] back, deep within her arching caverns,
craving him for a husband", this proves that Calypso forcibly held him back for years just for her
own enjoyment (Homer 1.17–8). The theme of injustice is shown in A Tale of Two Cities when
Charles is sentenced to "[death] within four–and–twenty hours" for a crime he did not commit, this
shows the injustice that was laid upon Charles Darnay (Dickens 343). Both of these examples
feature injustice that prove that the theme of injustice is within both of the books. The similarities
between the two examples are that they both go through some levels of injustice, and the differences
are that the injustice they face are different and that the reasons for them facing the injustices they
face are different. Those are all the common themes the books

My First Memories Of A Recurring Dream
Introduction
Just how revealing are your dreams? Can your subconscious be programmed? Do your dreams
really reveal something about you? Anyone who has woken up and remembered about some dream
wonders about the meaning of the dream especially if you dream about someone getting hurt. Does
this dream actually mean something?
We all dream and wonder, why did I dream that? Was there something that influenced me that
helped put the picture in my mind? Did I dream something because I watched television and the
content of the program stayed in my mind? I have had dreams about events during the day. Later, I
threw the memory away that it was only something about issue that made me remember it during the
evening.
Recurring dream as youth
One of my first memories of a recurring dream that I had when I was younger, had to do with my
parents' work building. All the elevators would properly work except for one. I could get in the door,
put the floor that I wanted to go to and get out without incident. However, there was one elevator
that would give me a roller coaster ride and never get out at the right place. This crazy ride would
never start in a predictable pattered. It would never start from the same beginning or end in same
place. I remember this dream so clearly. I could never isolate why this was a recurring type dream.
Although I was somewhat scare of heights, but I learned how to fly planes. Could it be something to
do with my father's work building, maybe because of the

Three Recurring Themes
How to be a Woman on Top: Three Recurring Themes Seen Throughout
Throughout this course there have been a lot of really interesting ideas that have flown throughout
each speaker and reading. A lot of these recurring themes are important ideas for women to learn
and even to live by. I believe that happiness, positivity, and honesty and three concepts that all
aspects of this class have touched upon and I think are eminent to any woman's success.
The first topic that I found kept reappearing throughout the course, is the idea of happiness, and
what it means to strive for happiness in ones career. All of the speakers and books agree on this one
idea– happiness is the most important thing when it comes to looking for a job; do what makes you
happy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It cannot be stressed enough that to be positive in situations, you need to have a positive view of
yourself. Just like happiness, achieving this is not as easy as it seems. "The most important
relationship you have is the one with yourself. You have to be feeling good about who you are when
you look at yourself in the mirror every morning. You need a clear vision of what you want to
achieve and an understanding of yourself. What you're good at–and what you're not good at. This
self–awareness and sense of what you want to achieve will make you unstoppable" (Blalock, 29–
30). I truly believe that if you have this down, you can do anything. This is also important when
thinking about strengths and weaknesses. A lot of the time it is easy to spot the things we're bad at,
or qualities we wish we didn't have. Often times we don't give ourselves credit for what we are good
at. One big take away that Jessica Bacal had after writing her book, was that there are lots of ways to
be brave, we just don't always acknowledge or appreciate them. I think this piece of advice is hugely
important. If you're having a hard time or a bad week, and the only thing you do today is get out of
bed, that is still an accomplishment; that is still something to acknowledge and be proud of. If you
start acknowledging the little things that you do, and loving those little parts of yourself, ultimately
it will be easier to love the whole

A Case Study Of A Client Case Of Recurring Attention...
The objective of this paper is to present a case study of a client, J.W., who was seen at Mazique
Pediatric PC with a chief complaint of recurring attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) –
like symptoms and behavior changes. J.W. was first diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder at age seven. The management process of his condition will include literature review
regarding ADHD, epidemiological data, nursing and medical diagnoses with plans, treatments,
evaluation with possible outcomes. Shuler Nurse Practitioner Practice Model will be used as a
theoretical framework to structure and manage the care of this client. This model uses well–oriented
holistic approach as it suggests how client interaction, assessment, intervention, and evaluation
should occur (Bertalanffy, 1968, p. 11). This approach will reflect a combined role of nursing and
medicine which will be put into practice when caring for clients. This case study will outline the
process of utilizing this model in clinical practice, with the goal to promote health and prevent any
other illness. Shuler's approach is seen as a whole system that includes inputs, throughputs and
outputs. The inputs comprise chief complaints, history of present illness and review of systems
which are subjective data. The throughputs by Shuler emphasize problem identification based on
performing thorough physical examination, recognizing clinical manifestations and doing work–ups

Update the Recurring Sin Tax Law that Was Newly...
Rationale of the Study This study was drawn to update the recurring sin tax law that was newly
implemented by the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino by assessing its effect to the
consumers of sin products and has given fruitful grounds and suggestions for future research in this
field.
In belief, the purpose of the imposition of excise tax on sin products is to raise revenues and
discouraging the consumption of the tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. It is claimed that
higher excise taxes on tobacco will make some smokers to quit, and reduce consumption of
continuing smokers, and prevent others from starting (Sunley, 2009). Because the demand for
cigarettes is relatively price inelastic, the expectation is that higher taxes will yield higher revenues

Lord Of The Flies Fire Symbolism Essay
Don't play with fire. Fire is unpredictable, uncontainable, and its results are everlasting.
Nonetheless, fireplaces, campfires, and birthday candles, rouse the fascination of children and adults
because it is the universal symbol of spirit. Unlike conventional symbols, fire has an intrinsic
relationship with the spirit it represents. A fire radiates heat and light to create an impression of
power and liveliness. The vivacious flames are always dancing in different patterns, but maintain a
degree of constancy. In the Lord of the Flies, fire is a prominent symbol of Ralph's hopeful spirit

This shows that Ralph's hopes may not be as high, but the fire–along with hope–still exists.
Savagery is a threat to hope, but does not cause hope to die out. Despite fire's recurring presence, the
fire burns out when the hunters desert their duty to tend the fire and hunt a pig instead. When Ralph
discovers that Jack and his hunters neglect the fire, Jack provides a feeble excuse. "[Ralph to Jack]
'You let the fire go out.' [...] [Jack insists] 'You should have seen the blood!'" (Golding 70) When the
hunters choose to hunt instead of tending the fire, it represents a descent from the original orderly
civilization into savagery. In this scene, Golding hints that savagery threatens Ralph's hopeful
mindset for a civilized tribe, but savagery does not kill hope. By the end of the book, all of the boys
become hunters who are regarded as "savages", murder Ralph's faithful comrade Piggy, and steal the
spectacles along with the fire; Ralph seems to be at rock bottom. Ralph has no one to turn to,
nowhere to stay, and no plan for the future as he scrambles to escape a hunt, all the while, unable to
see hope in his situation. The narrator speaks, "The best thing to do was to ignore this laden feeling
about the heart, [...] no fire; no smoke; no rescue," (Golding). Unfortunately for Ralph, the hunt
escalates when Jack's savage forest fire consumes the

Fire in Lord of the Flies
Don't play with fire. Fire is unpredictable, uncontainable, and its results are everlasting.
Nonetheless, fireplaces, campfires, and birthday candles, rouse the fascination of children and adults
because it is the universal symbol of human spirit. Fire has an intrinsic relationship with the spirit it
represents, radiating heat and light to create an impression of power and liveliness. The vivacious
flames are always dancing in different patterns, but maintain a degree of constancy. In William
Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies, fire is a prominent symbol of Ralph's hopeful spirit as he lives on
an isolated island with a group of other boys. Fire's recurring appearances throughout the novels
demonstrates that there is always hope in all situations regardless of the amount of resources, and
the threat of human savagery.
In the novel, fire makes a presence during when resources are abundant, and when resources are
scarce. When the boys first arrive on the island, Ralph, the undisputed leader, unites the boys and
has access to an ample supply of fruit trees, shelters, and meat with no threats to his power. Even
Jack and Ralph harmoniously work together, as the narrator described, "Together [Ralph and Jack],
joined in an effort by the burden [of the fire]" (Golding 39). As a result of the unity and resources,
he holds high spirits for the success of the newly built civilization. The fire burns bright and big in

Recurring Dark Ages: An Analysis
In Recurring Dark Ages, Chew has a complex analogy that dark ages will occur resulting in a social
collapse, and ironically there will be more than one. Certain aspects that are focused on when
determining a dark age is; there will be an economic slowdown and the political stability is
interrupted. Recurrences of a dark age is very likely because according to Chew it has already
repeated 3 times. He brings up the collapse of the Roman Empire just like Dixon and analysis that
the rapid growth will use to much energy. This will then lead to what he called de–urbanization;
there will be people moving out of cities causing a decline due to limited resources compared to
what there once was to keep people living. Movements to the country side became

Recurring Issues Of The Roman Catholic Church
RECURRING ISSUE IN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH,
ORTHODOXY AND PROTESTANTISM The most important recurring issues in the study of the
history of Christianity during our time period is sexual abuse amongst the Catholic Clergy and
abortion, the killing of a living entity, as it is a sin against God according to biblical doctrine. Many
believe that sexual abuse happening in the Catholic Church, is directly related to celibacy. The
Churches restriction on priests that directs them to abstain from sexual relations. This issue has been
debated since the reformation in which Martin Luther and other reformers opposed celibacy. They
based their argument against celibacy on the bible scripture, namely Genesis 1:28, where God
wanted people to "be fruitful and multiply". There is nothing in the bible that directly mentions
celibacy. There are many versions that mention fornication and uncleanliness and the interpretation
of the Catholic Church seems to have made this deduction based on those scriptures. The other
major issue that is common in most of the world's religions is abortion; the Catholic Church, the
Orthodox Church, and the Protestant Church still adopt the early church's belief to oppose the
practice of abortion. Abortion is considered murder and a mortal sin in accordance which many
versus in the bible as it relates to each of these faiths. Even between the Old Testament, where the
law or Tora refers to the 10 commandments, where Exodus 20:13 states "Thou shall not Murder"

Hamlet by William Shakespeare is yet another one of his successful tragedies. The plot consists of
the protagonist, Hamlet, seeking revenge on his new step–father, his love for Ophelia, his conflicts
with his mother, and inner conflicts about death. The plot is introduced when the Ghost of his father,
the king, tells Hamlet to seek vengeance on his uncle Claudius who has murdered him to steal his
wife and power. Hamlet agrees with the plan because he is already infuriated at Claudius and his
own mother. Through the entire play Hamlet deals with his plan of seeking the truth and committing
murder. Doing so causes the conflict of his sanity accompanied by depression over his

Theme Of Recurring Cycle In Wuthering Heights
Emily Brontë, one of five sisters in the Brontë family of writers, is well–known for her elegant
writing style in her poems. Published in 1847, a year before Emily Brontë's death, Wuthering
Heights is Brontë's only novel. As a tragic novel, Wuthering Heights embodies the true 19th century
tragedy with features such as its dramatic plot, catharsis emotions, and ability to fascinate and
horrify the reader at the same time. In the romantic novel, social relevance is a prominent theme as
Heathcliff, the protagonist, seeks revenge for squandering his chances of being with his soul mate,
Catherine Earnshaw. As a novel of such pronounced literary merit, Wuthering Heights has a
complex plot built on its strong female characters, social class differences, and recurring cycles.
Specifically, the recurring cycles lead the reader to the resolution of the novel without having
trouble identifying all of the subplot issues brought out during the novel. Overall, the most
important element in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights is the motif of recurring cycles. Creating a
full circle, Wuthering Heights' recurring cycles begin during the exposition and rising action of the
novel and come right back to where they start in the resolution of the novel. During these cycles, the
reader follows Heathcliff along his journey to reunite with his Catherine. Many of these patterns that
take place in the novel "[seek] fulfillment through union with others" (Woodford). For instance,
Catherine is "a name

Recurring Motif # 1 : Passive Women
Recurring Motif #1: Passive Women
Quote #1: "But I do not pretend that my protestations should acquit me; I rest my innocence on a
plain and simple explanation of the facts" (Shelley 83).
Quote #2: "She left me, and I continued some time walking up and down the passages of the house
and inspecting every corner that might afford a retreat to my adversary...when suddenly I heard a
shrill and dreadful scream" (Shelley 210).
Quote #3: "[A]nd endeavoured to secure him more entirely in his interests by the promise of her
hand in marriage" (Shelley 128).
Significance: The passive women in Frankenstein are used as the victims of fighting between males,
but also serve as goals for the males too; Frankenstein wants to marry Elizabeth (he talks of her ...

The letters are also a call of support from back home to get Frankenstein back home and away from

Recurring Motif #3: Responsibility
Quote #1: "[D]id I not, as his maker, owe him all the portion of happiness that it was in my power to
bestow?" (Shelley 155).
Quote #2: "Had I right, for my own benefit, to inflict this curse upon everlasting generations?"
(Shelley 176).
Quote #3: "my ravings, as I afterwards heard, were frightful; I called myself the murderer of
William, of Justine, and of Clerval" (Shelley 187).
Significance: The idea of who is responsible for what, is a major conflict in Frankenstein. Victor's
responsibility to his family, the monster, and to future generations influences his choices on what is
best. As the creator of the monster, Victor assumes the responsibility of the deaths of William,
Justine, Henry, and Elizabeth.
Part #9: Narrative Structure/Point of View
1). The narrative structure of Frankenstein is an epistolary format, but more specifically an orally
told story with stories within stories. Epistolary is a novel written by documents, which are Walton's
letters written to his sister, but the stories he tells to his sister were told to him by Frankenstein. In
all there are four stories inside of one, this is called a frame story, there is the De Lacey story inside

Recurring Scaffold In The Scarlet Letter
The Recurring Scaffold Through day and night, the scaffold is a place of punishment, awaiting its
next victim. People pass by wondering who the next victim is going to be. This public punishment
causes many to change and work to preserve their reputation. Despite this, the scaffold turns into a
constant place of punishment, in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hester's love for
Dimmesdale and Dimmesdale's cowardice hold significant meanings in the novel, which lead up to
Dimmesdale gaining a more mature mindset. Specifically, Hester's punishment portrays her love for
Dimmesdale in the first scaffold scene. Hester refuses to reveal the name of the father in spite of
everyone asking her. Dimmesdale tells Hester to reveal the name by saying, "Be not silent from any
mistaken pity and tenderness for him; for, believe me, Hester, though he were to step down from a
high place, and stand there beside thee, on thy pedestal of shame, yet better were it so, than to hide a
guilty heart through life,"(63) to explain that it is better for Hester to reveal the name of the father
than to keep it to herself. By telling her not to remain "silent" due to any "pity and tenderness for
him", and telling her to allow him to "step down from a high place" and stand there beside her, it

explain the reasons behind the scaffold remaining a constant symbol throughout the novel. Hester

reasoning, as Hester love for Dimmesdale obscures her thoughts, and Dimmesdale first remains a
coward and then gathers the courage to confess. The scaffold is not just a public punishment, but it

Recurring Themes in the Work of Agatha Christie and Her...
Agatha Christie wrote most of her books with the same recurring themes. One of the themes that
Christie has in her books is feminism. The definition of feminism is the belief in the need to protect
rights, and opportunities for women to be equal to those of men. It is also saying they can go
through life without having a man in their lives and living as independent women. Anti–feminism is
the opposite of feminism and says women are all the same and do need a man in their life. Christie
uses feminism and anti–feminism to view women during the twentieth century in the three books.
First, Agatha Christie does not just use feminism but she also uses sexism in the book, Death on the
Nile. Sexism is the discrimination because of gender. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is anti–feminist because it shows that women try to make themselves involved in others' lives
to keep their lives more interesting. Women have nothing better to do then to talk about others
behind their backs. When psychologists started to study women like this in psychology, they would
get angry about how they were portrayed. Alice Eagly, the author of "Analysis of a Half–Century
Research on Women and Gender" states, "Starting in the 1960s, feminists argued that the discipline
of psychology had neglected the study of women and gender and misrepresented women in its
research and theories". This quote is saying women started to stand up for themselves because they
did not like the way they were being represented and had wanted a change. This relates to the thesis
because it shows that women did not like the way people were characterizing them and wanted to
make a change for themselves. This shows how the Murder on The Orient Express uses anti–
feminism when analyzing Christie's time.
Lastly, feminism is viewed in The Body in the Library. The detective, Jane Marple is the one who
figures out the answer the question of who is the murderer. Agatha Christie creates this book to be
more women friendly with more feministic views than some of Christie's other books. One

Recurring Themes Of Grief Essay
Recurring themes of grief are represented throughout both texts, Extremely Loud and Incredibly
Close (ELIC) and Argo. As displayed in ELIC, themes of grief are highlighted when major trigger
events are revealed throughout the plot. For example: The 9/11 terrorist attacks ensued in many
deaths, including the father, caused nationwide panic and sorrow. Oskar's mental health began
deteriorating after this, with coping mechanisms frequently leading to self harm and suicidal
thoughts. In contrast, events in Argo, which triggered grief included the attack on the U.S embassy
in Iran, very similar to the event which occurred in ELIC. It ended in a hostage situation, In turn
sparking global outrage, and newfound misery and anguish for affected parties. The events that
triggered grief were extremely similar in both pieces, although the expression was vastly different.
Compared to ELIC it is seen that the use of connotative phrases and language were used primarily in
ELIC, while Argo featured cinematic elements to exhibit grief. While both ELIC and Argo are
extremely different forms of work, both are connected through the similarity of shared themes.
Throughout ELIC, most themes of grief are conveyed by trigger events and connotative wording.
ELIC begins with attending the funeral of Oskar's father, with the father passing after the events of

'Evolution or Revolution'
Evolution or Revolution? Recurring themes, ideas and conventions in the dramas of Ibsen, O'Neill
and Shepard.
Throughout the history of drama, playwrights have appropriated the ideas of their predecessors for
their own use, sometimes building on them and making the idea their own. American drama is no
exception. American drama has its roots firmly entrenched in modern European drama, this is
illustrated through the influence of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen on American playwright
Eugene O'Neill. O'Neill once wrote, "Not long ago I read all of Ibsen's plays again. The same
living truth is there. Only to fools with a superficial eye cocked to detect the incidental can they
have anything dated or outworn about them. As dramas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
WESTON: Some guy. Looked respectable. Talked a real good line. Said it was an investment for the
future. All kinds of great things were going to be developed. Golf courses, shopping centers, banks,
sauna baths. All that kinda' stuff. So I bought it." (Curse of the Starving Class p.158).
This illustrates how this convention, mastered by Ibsen, remains unchanged as it is passed down
from generation to generation. Shepard claims in his biography that he "never read
Ibsen" (Schewey p.110), therefore if Shepard did not appropriate this idea from Ibsen it is
logical to assume that he appropriated it from O'Neill whom he has already openly declared his debt
to. This is an example of a Modern European convention having a direct influence on American
drama.
Another idea that remains relatively unchanged through the course of recent history is that of
heredity. Heredity is a theme that features strongly in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler as Ibsen himself states in
a letter to the Count Moritz Prozor, "The title of the play is Hedda Gabler [italics mine]. My
intention in giving it this name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality is to be regarded rather as
her father's daughter than as her husband's wife." (ds.dial.pipex.com). This heredity is
emphasised throughout the play. O'Neill uses the idea of heredity to good effect in both Long Day's
Journey into Night and Desire Under the Elms, in Long Day's Journey into Night, Edmund becomes

comprehensive budget. A comprehensive budget is one which covers or expend over all aspects of
life. I chose this financial tool because it covers all daily life expenses on long term and short term
basis. It helps me in managing how much income is earned and how other expenses are catered for.
It covers all recurring incomes and expenses and non recurring expenditures. Wages, profits and
revenues all fall under recurring income. Recurring expenditure include loan payments, daily
expenses, and savings. Non recurring expenditures include budgets for miscellaneousitems or
expenses. The major differences between recurring and non recurring expenditure is the timing.

Hospitality Is A Recurring Theme Throughout The Odyssey
The Lack of Hospitality In Polyphemos In The Ancient Greek Culture
Hospitality is a recurring theme throughout the Odyssey. Whether it is how Penelope and the people
at Ithaca treat their guests, or how Oddyseus and his companions are welcomed in many of the lands
they arrive to, hospitality is revealed as a significant feature and value in the Ancient Greek society.
In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus, the main character, has different types of encounters
throughout his long years of adventure. In Book IX "New Coasts and Poseidon's Son" he arrives to
the Cyclopes Land and he faces Polyphemos, a Cyclops. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen states in his text
"Monster Culture (Seven Theses)," that monsters express societies' desires, fears, limits, and values,
among others. Moreover Cohen states that monsters represent the "other": the one opposite to
oneself. Thus by analyzing a culture's monsters one is able to learn about the culture itself. Taking
this into account, this paper will demonstrate how Polyphemos' savagery and man–eating behavior
is representative of his lack of hospitality and what does this reflect about the Ancient Greek society
and their values.
Polyphemos' is significantly defined by his savagery and man–eating nature when describing him as
a monster. This can be seen in his behavior when he first encounters Odysseus. The Ithacan hero
tells the Cyclops about their catastrophic situation, and the creature, unmoved by the story, reaches
out and eats some of Odysseus'

The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin.
The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin. In reading the poetry of Philip Larkin
for the first time, one is struck by the characteristically glum atmosphere that pervades most of his
poems. The vast majority of his verse is devoted to what is generally taken to be negative aspects of
life, such as loneliness and dejection, disappointments, loss, and the terrifying prospect of
impending death. Evidently, there are uplifting and humorous sides to his work as well, but for
certain reasons Larkin is invariably identified with a downhearted, pessimistic temper and tone of
voice, conveying a constant sense of failure and of disappointment that underlies all the more
specific emotions and reflections of individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 'Send No Money', this sense of having been cheated is voiced with embittered bluntness.
Someone is kept from getting the best out of his life by a false promise of knowledge: while in his
youth his mates went to enjoy themselves, the persona kept himself apart, aspiring to wisdom: Tell
me the truth, I said, Teach me the way things go. (146) But his sacrifice earned him nothing, and
after the initial enthusiasm is vanished it begins to dawn on him that he has been cheated: Oh thank
you, I said, Oh yes please, And I sat down to wait Half life is over now Sod all. In this way I spent
youth Tracing the trite untransferable Truss–advertisement, truth. (146) Larkin thus gives the
impression that the reality of life as it presents itself to him falls blatantly short of what he expected.
This disillusionment is particularly prominent when it comes to an assessment of what he has, or
rather has not, achieved so far in life. More than once Larkin indicates the feeling that his lifetime
passes unused. He talks about 'time/ Torn off unused' ('Aubade', 208) and asks: 'Where has it gone,
the lifetime?' ('The View', 195). The reader gets the sense that Larkin's life was unfulfilled; his only

Odysseus Character Analysis
Throughout literature, Odysseus has always been praised as a brilliant hero. While that may be true,
he is an atrocious leader. While he always shows bravery and passion, it is always towards his goals,
not his shipmates goals. Additionally, throughout the story he betrays his men, in multiple ways.
Odysseus is an egregious leader due to the fact that he manipulates his men, cares only about
himself, and chooses women over his own men. Throughout his remarkable journey, Odysseus
constantly manipulates his men in order to get what he wants. A prime example of this is shown
when Odysseus says, "Friends have we never been in danger before this? More fearsome, is it now,
than when the Cyclops penned us in his cave? What power he had! Did I not keep my nerve, and use
my wits to find a way out for us?"(12. 144–148). This clearly shows how manipulative Odysseus is,
as he changes the perception of his men by convincing them that they can fight Sylla off. But he
knows that isn't true, but instead of trying to find another way he manipulates his men so he doesn't
have to deal with finding a different route. His manipulativeness is shown even more during this
conversation with his men, "My men came pressing around me, pleading: 'Why not take these
cheeses, get them stowed, come back, throw open all the pens, and make a run for it? We'll drive the
kids and the lambs aboard. We say put out again on good salt water.' Ah, how sound that was. Yet I
refused. I wished to see the caveman"

The New Testament And The Four Gospels Through Recurring...
There are many aspects of Jesus' life that are very noticeable throughout the New Testament and the
four gospels through recurring themes. Mark's Gospel contains the most prominent of those themes.
The main themes that our class has focused on, that seem the most important to Mark are secrecy,
response, and food/eating. In Mark 8:22–10:52, he has a very strategic way of setting up the stories
of Jesus' life. Thought the reading of this section we mainly notice two of the three themes, those
being secrecy and response, although earlier in chapter eight we do see how Mark highlights the
importance of food/eating in The Feeding of the Four Thousand. Within Mark 8:22–10:52 there are
sixteen separate stories that are all placed in a certain order to exemplify what Mark wants to make
known of the life of Jesus and his disciples. The section in Mark begins with the story, Jesus Cures a
Blind Man at Bethsaida, and ends with The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus. Both of these stories
involve hearings of blind men but there are not as similar as may be initially thought. in the first
healing, Jesus Cures a Blind Man at Bethsadia, the people of Bethsadia brought the man with no
sight out to Jesus and "begged" him to touch the man. Jesus took the man away from the villagers
and laid his saliva on the blind man's eye, "'Can you see anything?' [Jesus said] And the man looked
up and said, 'I can see people, but they look like trees, walking'" (Mark 8:23–24), The first attempt

Essay about Recurring Decimals
Recurring Decimals Infinite yet rational, recurring decimals are a different breed of numbers.
Mathematicians, in turn, have been fascinated by these special numbers for over two thousand years.
The Hindu–Arabic base 10 system we use today was inspired by the Chinese method of decimals
which was actually around 10000 years old. Decimals may have been around for a very long time,
but what about recurring decimals? In fact the ancient Greeks were one of the first to deal with
recurring decimals. The Greek mathematician Zeno had a paradox in which the answer was a finite
number that was a sum of an infinite sequence. The answer to his problem was a recurring decimal,
and it definitely would not be the last time recurring decimals played ... Show more content on

What about the number "n"? Can the period of the number 1/n be found also? These questions are
what I hope to answer in my project. Before utilizing mathematical resources, I decided to approach
my problem from scratch and just experiment with numbers on a lazy Sunday morning. The patterns
I encountered when working with these numbers were stunning; to keep things simple, I started with
small numbers as denominators. Soon enough, I realized that the primes 2 and 5 do not produce any
recurring decimals. 3 only provides one repeating digit, and yet 9 does too. The number 7 produces
6 repeating digits, but the number 11 only produces two digits. What is going on here? Well, it
appears that some primes p have p–1 repeating digits, but not all of them. However, all primes
except 2 and 5 seem to have a period that is (p–1)/n long, where n is some integer. What about the
squares of primes? I would like to give the example of 3; although 9 (3x3) has the same number of
repeating digits as 3 (1), 27 actually has three repeating digits. Even more stunning, 81 (3^4) has
nine repeating digits. It appears as if as the number is raised by a power of 3, then the number of
repeating digits is also raised to some power. The number 3 is actually an exception to the general
rule that I will mention, and the repeating digits of 3 to the nth power is just 3^(n–2). A conventional
example is 7; 7 has 6 repeating digits but 49 (7x7) has 42 (6x7)

Exploring The Roots Of The Recurring Subjects And Symbols...
After nearly two centuries completely lacking in images, early Christians finally developed a
pictorial language to express their faith. The conventions developed early on would come to define
the middle ages, an entire era of almost exclusively Christian images. Early Christians adopted
classical conventions for their art, which would serve an opposing purpose for outsiders and
initiates. For outsiders, the symbols meant no harm. But to followers of the faith, the images are
loaded with meaning. The meaning inherent in the history of the symbol, when combined with a
biblical context, creates a full and multi–faceted iconographic tradition. The purpose of this paper is
to explore the roots of the recurring subjects and symbols evident in the funerary paintings in
Catacombs of Domitilla in Rome.
Funerary paintings and sculpture provide the most thorough evidence of early Christian art. An
exceptional visual tradition has been preserved in the vast network of underground burial systems:
the Roman catacombs. One of the most extensive of these is the Catacomb of Domitilla. Beginning
in the third century CE, the Catacombs of Domitilla housed thousands of bodies from families rich
and poor, and extended for over seventeen kilometers in four distinct subterranean levels. In terms
of style, most of the works are indistinguishable from Roman paintings. If anything, the art style is a
more rushed and cramped version of illusionistic Roman wall painting. The use of iconography is

Drew Awoke In A Cold Sweat. He Had Had The Same Recurring

  • 1. Drew Awoke In A Cold Sweat. He Had Had The Same Recurring Drew awoke in a cold sweat. He had had the same recurring dream, night after night. In his dreams, he awoke in a church, or at least he assumed it was church from his many personal visits. Black and white squares tiles plastered the walls like interconnecting dominos. The walls were bare, with no windows in sight, which made the gold and black coffin at the front stand out. He stood by the door behind the rows of pews filled with creepy figures donned in black and wore pasty white smiling masks. His skin crawled every time he looked at their faces or the lack of them. The masks latched to their faces as though they were one of the same, with the mask's edges that edged into their skulls. Time was a weird and volatile thing in Drew's dream ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This included his father's return from a long business trip, birthdays, Christmas or Easter, or when she had annual leave. The reason was a mixture of two. Drew 's Dad returned from a month–long trip and it was already school Christmas holidays. Over breakfast, Drew's dad caught up with Drew and the thing that replicated Asher. Asher's Reproba was distinctly accurate. The illusionary puppet did all that it was programmed to do, but Drew could never be fooled. None that was aware believed. Instead of filling a hole, it was a cold reminder of what had happened the past week. No matter how much the Rebroba attempted to act like Asher, it could never be the real Asher. Drew wished his parents noticed so he wouldn't have to lie anymore, but none did. Although, his mum frequently asked if Asher was alright as something was different. The previous night, before his dad flew in, Drew woke to his mother's quiet cries. He did not know the reason. He did not ask. At the breakfast table, Drew's mum looked at both Drew and Asher's Reproba as if she searched for something. "Are you two alright," Mum said. "You've been acting extremely weird." "Yeah," Drew said. "Why wouldn't we be?" "I hope you haven't gotten yourselves mixed in something and you're being safe." "Honey," Dad said, placing his hand over Mum's own. "We know our boys. They're not ... • 3. The Recurring Theme of Revenge in Shakespeare's Hamlet Whether or not the readers enjoy reading or are fond of the play, Hamlet, it's obviously true that Hamlet's procrastination on taking revenge for his father's death is a constantly recurring theme throughout the play. To begin with, after the ghost reveals the truth of Claudius killing King Hamlet Sr to Hamlet and demands Hamlet to seek revenge, Hamlet is somewhat convinced but mostly unsure about what he heard from the ghost, "The spirit that I have seen may be a devil, and the devil hath power t'assume a pleasing shape, yea, and perhaps, out of my weakness and melancholy, as he is very potent with such spirits, abuse me to damn me..catch the conscience of the king" (2.2.587– 594). The sudden appearance of the ghost triggers Hamlet's suspicion of the ghost's real identity, in which Hamlet's carefulness not only leads to showing a performance, which corresponds to his father's death to test the conscience of Claudius, but also delays his vengeance. Besides, Hamlet fails to take revenge because of the perfectionism although he has a proper opportunity. When Hamlet encounters Claudius praying, Hamlet confirms what the ghost tells him but he does not carry out his revenge immediately. Now might I do it pat, now he is a praying. And now I'll do't. And so he goes to heaven; and so am I revenged. That would be scanned: a villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain to heavenî (3.3.76–82). Hamlet himself wants Claudius to go straight to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Human Trafficking Been A Recurring Issue Throughout History? Why has human trafficking been a recurring issue throughout history? The word "Freedom" is a right that most humans take for granted each day. Unfortunately, throughout the world, not everyone has this beloved privilege. Millions of unlucky men, women, and children are being executed or forced into what is known as a modern day slavery. The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United States. For thousands of years, humans have been forced into numerous forms of sexual and physical slavery. Human Trafficking has been a recurring issue throughout history because of its lack of awareness, economical burden on people, and financial gain for smugglers. Initially, human trafficking is a global issue that many are unfamiliar with or unaccustomed to. For example, Jeanne Allert, executive director of The Samaritan Women, which runs the Maryland Rescue and Restore Coalition on human trafficking states that, "There is simply a reluctance to accept that children in this area are victims of sex trafficking," and "People do not believe it happens in the States." In most communities, awareness of human trafficking is not present because society does not want to believe that human trafficking exists around them. Communities that have tried to publicly make address the issue of human trafficking have failed because of the confusion regarding who is the victim. In the United States, ... • 7. Recurring Themes In Sweat By Zora Neal Hurson In the short story "Sweat" by Zora Neal Hurson, the setting takes place in the nineteen twenties in Florida and has many themes, such as marriage, society, religion, gender roles and ect. Hurson writes about the troubles of a woman who has to deal with her cheating and abusive husband, Sykes. He leaves a snake in their house to torment his wife, Delia, and when the snake bites him, Delia does nothing to help him and she is not wrong for that. In the story, Sykes is described as anything but honorable. The story starts off with Sykes pretending a bullwhip is a snake to scare Delia, knowing how terrified of snakes she is. Also, while Delia is working on cleaning clothes, Sykes kicks it on the floor and calls her a hypocrite for working on the Sabbath day. Even though Sykes is not religious at all, he still mocks her and criticizes her for everything. Not only does he provoke her, he also cheats and abuses her. He is always threatening her and beating her and everyone in town knows about it. Everyone also knows, including his wife Delia, that Sykes is cheating with another woman named Bertha. Sykes has no shame and does not try to hide his mistress one bit. All these characteristics about Sykes represents evil in the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Delia refuses to move and because of this, Sykes captures a snake in a box and brings it into their home to torment Delia. He does this out of spite and anger. When the snake escapes, Delia runs to the barn for safety leaving the snake in the house for Sykes to later find it and get bit in the neck. Delia did not purposely leave the snake in the house, but she was too afraid to get close enough to remove the snake. So when Sykes gets bit on the neck, she does nothing to help him. While Sykes is dying, Hurson describes the scene with powerful images with Delia waiting under a Chinaberry tree that resembles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Recurring Motif In Henrik Ibsen's A Doll Nora discovers her capabilities and true self worth by the end of the play, leaving Torvald and the unsatisfactory life that she led with him. Nora is finally able to relieve herself from the doll's life she has had and admits this: "I've been your doll wife here, just as at home I was Papa's doll–child" (226). When Torvald not only questions her abilities as a woman, but also as a mother, the sole purpose she held in life, Nora realizes that nothing can ever truly satisfy Torvald and there may not be a point in staying in this prison–like household. Nora decides it is high time that she begins to take care of herself before she sacrifices her life for her husband and children. From the mistakes that Nora has made in her life, she discovers that the only way to improve her is through education: "There's another task that I must finish first – I must try to educate myself" (227). ... • 11. Friday Night Lights : A Recurring Theme Marcos Vieira Filho Due: March 31, 2015 Friday Night Lights Book Essay Racism: A Recurring Theme in Friday Night Lights The surprisingly non–fiction novel, Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream, was written by H. G. Bissinger in 1990. The story follows the Permian High School Panthers football team of 1998. The setting takes place in the town of Odessa, Texas. Bissinger describes this town as, "the setting for this book, but it could be anyplace in this vast land where, on a Friday night, a set of spindly stadium lights rises to the heavens to so powerfully, and so briefly, ignite the darkness." (16). It highlights the teams attempt at a Texas state championship with plenty of distractions and obstacles along the way. The main barrier for players and staff of Permian High was racism. Some may find it hard to believe but in the town of Odessa, desegregation was simply a "suggestion" and the community refused to accept the fact that white and blacks are equal. It was not until the early eighties that Odessa desegregated. To better understand the theme of racism throughout the novel towards African American players and staff of Permian High, a school made up of almost ninety percent minorities, one must understand the background on how this book came about. The other two schools were Caucasian and almost entirely white schools. While at Harvard, Bissinger had an idea to write a book that was focused on the impact that high school football had on American culture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Creative Writing: The Recurring Invasion The Recurring Invasion Screech! Bang! The windows were shattered and my best friend, Marie, was shaking vigorously me to wake up. I jumped up sloppily and incoherently. She was screaming at me, "Come on! We have to go! Out of the U.S.! We're being attacked! By Iran! I have my helicopter on its way to the roof! Let's go!" I tried to put my shoes on but Marie was dragging me away, out of the apartment. "But what... what about breakfast?" I slurred. "There's no time for that now!" All I could hear was screaming and crashing of bombs as if rock were hurled upon rock against the apartment building. I had just enough time to glance out the window, only to find our city of New York in ruins; the Manhattan Bridge was collapsed and the Empire State Building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she did that, I realized the only escape was the roof. I raced to the exit and started smashing out the window, this time being very careful with the glass. Then, I remembered the vase from the dream and glanced in that direction; it was here. I shattered it with my bat and sure enough, there was the key. "Hurry up! There's too many of them!" Marie was getting tired out. I unlocked the door. "It's open!", I screeched down to her. Marie hollered, "Oh, thank God." She swatted the last ninja she could and scurried up the stairs just in time to fly out the door and allow me to slam it on the spies, locking it shut. I scanned the neighboring rooftops. "Ok, ok. The flooring building is right there. I think we can make it if we jump," I stated to Marie. "What? Are you crazy?" "Yep!" I yelped, squeezed her hand, ran, and jumped. We landed on the building, tumbling like a flock of baby ducklings into a river. The spies were now on the roof of the apartment building, not far behind. Marie started coughing and hacking, breathing heavily. "It's my asthma," cough, "the smoke," cough, "it's no big deal." "It's ok. You can make it to Canadian authorities ok? You can do that alright?" I reassured her. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Drought As A Recurring Extreme Climate Event Drought as a recurring extreme climate event can be defined from various perspective, including meteorological, hydrological, agricultural and socio–economic aspects. Materials and Methods Study area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south–western part of Asia. The climate is influenced by Iran 's location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area, the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features like presence of the Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country respectively, two large deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and intensive elevation variability (from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1). Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran has a variable climate however arid and semi–arid climate cover the majority of this country. This climate characterized by long, hot, dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average annual precipitation in Iran is approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the higher mountain valleys of the Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at least 500 mm annually. In the western part of the Caspian, annual precipitation exceeds 1,000 mm and is distributed relatively evenly throughout the year. • 19. Comparison Essay Like Water for Chocolate vs. Things Fall... Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel and Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe are two novels that revolve around the struggle of adapting to traditions. Both novels take place in areas where tradition is fundamental. Therefore, the characters act different than those around them and are unable to adjust to their traditional lifestyles. . The two main characters in both books, Tita and Okonkwo, find it hard to live up to their own traditions, and fail to adapt to them as they go against their people. In the novel Things Fall Apart, Okonkwo the main character, refuses to accept the new traditions because he thinks they are not manly enough. He believes that the political and religious reforms are intolerable. Okonkwo supposes that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the novel, Tita never faces the fact that she cannot marry and still insists for Pedro to come and ask for her hand in marriage. However, when he does, her mother advises him to marry Rosaura so he does. Tita is then mad and depressed but little does she know that Pedro did that in order to become close to her. This when Tita starts becoming isolated and loathes her sister and mother for doing such a thing. In addition, I believe that this tradition will be left behind or forgotten about by Tita because of her experiences. She will never put her daughters through what she has went through because she felt the misery and sorrow of that tradition. In Okonkwo's case however, he is isolated from his own family because of his lack of emotion, which is also considered to be part of their traditions. Okonkwo never demonstrated his feeling towards anything because he considers this unmanly which is believed to be not part of their traditions. In contrast to Tita, Okonkwo started opening up to his family in the middle/end part of the novel. For example, when his daughter Ezinma is sick, Okonkwo worriedly makes medicine and does everything in his power to save his favorite child. Also, Okonkwo follows the priestess Chielo and Ekwefi when the priestess unexpectedly kidnaps Ezinma. For the second time, Okonkwo publicly displays emotions and compassion towards Ezinma. • 24. Is Rehash And Put On The Tube The Negativity Of Life For... Why rehash and put on the tube the negativity of life for every recurring commemoration? It 's important to know what happened and remember the outcomes in our hearts, then put it to rest. Why keep it alive and let the wounds keep on burning? Showing, and talking about it, keeps it alive and as such, is an inspiration for the weak minds. We saw and heard the mimicking of those saddening episodes multiplying, instead than diminishing, not to mention the special interest that lies behind the feeding of the pain, orchestrated for the money that such recurrence can generate. What can be targeted as a negative impact shouldn 't be kept alive, but replaced with a positive, for a positive inspiration as a simple and healthy equation. They say we have to remember the negative that was done. I say: I rather forget it, remembering a happy positive one, makes me feel better. What we are projecting with our minds, is what we get, the option selected and what derives out of it, is rightfully ours. We are wasting so much time, we are falling short in the progress of formulating a better world. The reasons for such a delay, is due to the politicians trapped in their contorted games played under the financial kingdom rules and the shortsightedness of their thousand–dollar suit soldiers ruled by their unconscious fears. • 30. Recurring Themes In The Odyssey And A Tale Of Two Cities Interestingly Recurring Themes Great books share many common characteristics and often times they share common themes. In the epic poem The Odyssey and the novel A Tale of Two Cities, the two books share multiple common themes. Both of the books have been written by different authors and at different time periods, but with close observation it is evident that there are some clear similarities between the two books. The books share three distinct common themes, the themes include the theme of revenge, the theme of love, and the theme of sacrifice. Reading the two books, the readers are able to learn and process the theme of revenge from both of the books. In the poem it is stated that Odysseus was "fighting at close quarters" to get his revenge upon the disgusting suitors that plagued his house during his absence, he killed all the suitors that took advantage of his absence and was disloyal to him (Homer 22.307). It is stated that Calypso "held [Odysseus] back, deep within her arching caverns, craving him for a husband", this proves that Calypso forcibly held him back for years just for her own enjoyment (Homer 1.17–8). The theme of injustice is shown in A Tale of Two Cities when Charles is sentenced to "[death] within four–and–twenty hours" for a crime he did not commit, this shows the injustice that was laid upon Charles Darnay (Dickens 343). Both of these examples feature injustice that prove that the theme of injustice is within both of the books. Anyone who has woken up and remembered about some dream wonders about the meaning of the dream especially if you dream about someone getting hurt. Does this dream actually mean something? We all dream and wonder, why did I dream that? Was there something that influenced me that helped put the picture in my mind? Did I dream something because I watched television and the content of the program stayed in my mind? I have had dreams about events during the day. Later, I threw the memory away that it was only something about issue that made me remember it during the evening. Recurring dream as youth One of my first memories of a recurring dream that I had when I was younger, had to do with my parents' work building. All the elevators would properly work except for one. I could get in the door, put the floor that I wanted to go to and get out without incident. However, there was one elevator that would give me a roller coaster ride and never get out at the right place. This crazy ride would never start in a predictable pattered. It would never start from the same beginning or end in same place. I remember this dream so clearly. I could never isolate why this was a recurring type dream. Three Recurring Themes How to be a Woman on Top: Three Recurring Themes Seen Throughout Throughout this course there have been a lot of really interesting ideas that have flown throughout each speaker and reading. A lot of these recurring themes are important ideas for women to learn and even to live by. I believe that happiness, positivity, and honesty and three concepts that all aspects of this class have touched upon and I think are eminent to any woman's success. The first topic that I found kept reappearing throughout the course, is the idea of happiness, and what it means to strive for happiness in ones career. All of the speakers and books agree on this one idea– happiness is the most important thing when it comes to looking for a job; do what makes you happy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It cannot be stressed enough that to be positive in situations, you need to have a positive view of yourself. Just like happiness, achieving this is not as easy as it seems. "The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. You have to be feeling good about who you are when you look at yourself in the mirror every morning. You need a clear vision of what you want to achieve and an understanding of yourself. What you're good at–and what you're not good at. This self–awareness and sense of what you want to achieve will make you unstoppable" (Blalock, 29– 30). I truly believe that if you have this down, you can do anything. This is also important when thinking about strengths and weaknesses. A lot of the time it is easy to spot the things we're bad at, or qualities we wish we didn't have. Often times we don't give ourselves credit for what we are good at. One big take away that Jessica Bacal had after writing her book, was that there are lots of ways to be brave, we just don't always acknowledge or appreciate them. I think this piece of advice is hugely important. If you're having a hard time or a bad week, and the only thing you do today is get out of bed, that is still an accomplishment; that is still something to acknowledge and be proud of. If you start acknowledging the little things that you do, and loving those little parts of yourself, ultimately it will be easier to love the whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rationale of the Study This study was drawn to update the recurring sin tax law that was newly implemented by the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino by assessing its effect to the consumers of sin products and has given fruitful grounds and suggestions for future research in this field. In belief, the purpose of the imposition of excise tax on sin products is to raise revenues and discouraging the consumption of the tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. It is claimed that higher excise taxes on tobacco will make some smokers to quit, and reduce consumption of continuing smokers, and prevent others from starting (Sunley, 2009). Because the demand for cigarettes is relatively price inelastic, the expectation is that higher taxes will yield higher revenues in the near term while preventing smoking in the longer term. If a tax is imposed on a good, verbally express excise taxes on alcohol or tobacco, it may possibly have influenced the decision of how many to consume and make efficiency cost (Badenes–Plá & Jones, 2003). In contrast, according to McGee (2000), liquor and cigarettes are had insensitive to changes of price that many of the consumers of sin products continue to buy it regardless of the increase in its prices. Then, it becomes usual that there will be a protest on excise tax for the reason that this sin tax law will not cause a reduction to their demand in sin products. Recurring Issues Of The Roman Catholic Church RECURRING ISSUE IN THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, ORTHODOXY AND PROTESTANTISM The most important recurring issues in the study of the history of Christianity during our time period is sexual abuse amongst the Catholic Clergy and abortion, the killing of a living entity, as it is a sin against God according to biblical doctrine. Many believe that sexual abuse happening in the Catholic Church, is directly related to celibacy. The Churches restriction on priests that directs them to abstain from sexual relations. This issue has been debated since the reformation in which Martin Luther and other reformers opposed celibacy. They based their argument against celibacy on the bible scripture, namely Genesis 1:28, where God wanted people to "be fruitful and multiply". There is nothing in the bible that directly mentions celibacy. There are many versions that mention fornication and uncleanliness and the interpretation of the Catholic Church seems to have made this deduction based on those scriptures. The other major issue that is common in most of the world's religions is abortion; the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, and the Protestant Church still adopt the early church's belief to oppose the practice of abortion. • 52. Theme Of Recurring Cycle In Wuthering Heights Emily Brontë, one of five sisters in the Brontë family of writers, is well–known for her elegant writing style in her poems. Published in 1847, a year before Emily Brontë's death, Wuthering Heights is Brontë's only novel. As a tragic novel, Wuthering Heights embodies the true 19th century tragedy with features such as its dramatic plot, catharsis emotions, and ability to fascinate and horrify the reader at the same time. In the romantic novel, social relevance is a prominent theme as Heathcliff, the protagonist, seeks revenge for squandering his chances of being with his soul mate, Catherine Earnshaw. As a novel of such pronounced literary merit, Wuthering Heights has a complex plot built on its strong female characters, social class differences, and recurring cycles. Specifically, the recurring cycles lead the reader to the resolution of the novel without having trouble identifying all of the subplot issues brought out during the novel. Overall, the most important element in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights is the motif of recurring cycles. Creating a full circle, Wuthering Heights' recurring cycles begin during the exposition and rising action of the novel and come right back to where they start in the resolution of the novel. People pass by wondering who the next victim is going to be. This public punishment causes many to change and work to preserve their reputation. Despite this, the scaffold turns into a constant place of punishment, in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hester's love for Dimmesdale and Dimmesdale's cowardice hold significant meanings in the novel, which lead up to Dimmesdale gaining a more mature mindset. Specifically, Hester's punishment portrays her love for Dimmesdale in the first scaffold scene. Hester refuses to reveal the name of the father in spite of everyone asking her. Dimmesdale tells Hester to reveal the name by saying, "Be not silent from any mistaken pity and tenderness for him; for, believe me, Hester, though he were to step down from a high place, and stand there beside thee, on thy pedestal of shame, yet better were it so, than to hide a guilty heart through life,"(63) to explain that it is better for Hester to reveal the name of the father than to keep it to herself. • 58. Recurring Themes in the Work of Agatha Christie and Her... Agatha Christie wrote most of her books with the same recurring themes. One of the themes that Christie has in her books is feminism. The definition of feminism is the belief in the need to protect rights, and opportunities for women to be equal to those of men. It is also saying they can go through life without having a man in their lives and living as independent women. Anti–feminism is the opposite of feminism and says women are all the same and do need a man in their life. First, Agatha Christie does not just use feminism but she also uses sexism in the book, Death on the Nile. Sexism is the discrimination because of gender. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is anti–feminist because it shows that women try to make themselves involved in others' lives to keep their lives more interesting. Women have nothing better to do then to talk about others behind their backs. When psychologists started to study women like this in psychology, they would get angry about how they were portrayed. Alice Eagly, the author of "Analysis of a Half–Century Research on Women and Gender" states, "Starting in the 1960s, feminists argued that the discipline of psychology had neglected the study of women and gender and misrepresented women in its research and theories". This quote is saying women started to stand up for themselves because they did not like the way they were being represented and had wanted a change. This relates to the thesis because it shows that women did not like the way people were characterizing them and wanted to make a change for themselves. This shows how the Murder on The Orient Express uses anti– feminism when analyzing Christie's time. Lastly, feminism is viewed in The Body in the Library. As displayed in ELIC, themes of grief are highlighted when major trigger events are revealed throughout the plot. For example: The 9/11 terrorist attacks ensued in many deaths, including the father, caused nationwide panic and sorrow. Oskar's mental health began deteriorating after this, with coping mechanisms frequently leading to self harm and suicidal thoughts. In contrast, events in Argo, which triggered grief included the attack on the U.S embassy in Iran, very similar to the event which occurred in ELIC. It ended in a hostage situation, In turn sparking global outrage, and newfound misery and anguish for affected parties. The events that triggered grief were extremely similar in both pieces, although the expression was vastly different. Compared to ELIC it is seen that the use of connotative phrases and language were used primarily in ELIC, while Argo featured cinematic elements to exhibit grief. While both ELIC and Argo are extremely different forms of work, both are connected through the similarity of shared themes. • 62. 'Evolution or Revolution' Evolution or Revolution? Recurring themes, ideas and conventions in the dramas of Ibsen, O'Neill and Shepard. Throughout the history of drama, playwrights have appropriated the ideas of their predecessors for their own use, sometimes building on them and making the idea their own. American drama is no exception. American drama has its roots firmly entrenched in modern European drama, this is illustrated through the influence of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen on American playwright Eugene O'Neill. O'Neill once wrote, "Not long ago I read all of Ibsen's plays again. The same living truth is there. Only to fools with a superficial eye cocked to detect the incidental can they have anything dated or outworn about them. As dramas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WESTON: Some guy. Looked respectable. Talked a real good line. Said it was an investment for the future. All kinds of great things were going to be developed. Golf courses, shopping centers, banks, sauna baths. All that kinda' stuff. So I bought it." (Curse of the Starving Class p.158). This illustrates how this convention, mastered by Ibsen, remains unchanged as it is passed down from generation to generation. Shepard claims in his biography that he "never read Ibsen" (Schewey p.110), therefore if Shepard did not appropriate this idea from Ibsen it is logical to assume that he appropriated it from O'Neill whom he has already openly declared his debt to. This is an example of a Modern European convention having a direct influence on American drama. Another idea that remains relatively unchanged through the course of recent history is that of heredity. Heredity is a theme that features strongly in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler as Ibsen himself states in a letter to the Count Moritz Prozor, "The title of the play is Hedda Gabler [italics mine]. My intention in giving it this name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality is to be regarded rather as her father's daughter than as her husband's wife." (ds.dial.pipex.com). This heredity is emphasised throughout the play. O'Neill uses the idea of heredity to good effect in both Long Day's Journey into Night and Desire Under the Elms, in Long Day's Journey into Night, Edmund becomes the focal ... A comprehensive budget is one which covers or expend over all aspects of life. I chose this financial tool because it covers all daily life expenses on long term and short term basis. It helps me in managing how much income is earned and how other expenses are catered for. It covers all recurring incomes and expenses and non recurring expenditures. Wages, profits and revenues all fall under recurring income. Recurring expenditure include loan payments, daily expenses, and savings. Non recurring expenditures include budgets for miscellaneousitems or expenses. The major differences between recurring and non recurring expenditure is the timing. Recurring expenditure are dealt with within short period of time while non recurring expenditure takes a longer period of time to be covered. Ultimately, a comprehensive budget ... • 66. Hospitality Is A Recurring Theme Throughout The Odyssey The Lack of Hospitality In Polyphemos In The Ancient Greek Culture Hospitality is a recurring theme throughout the Odyssey. Whether it is how Penelope and the people at Ithaca treat their guests, or how Oddyseus and his companions are welcomed in many of the lands they arrive to, hospitality is revealed as a significant feature and value in the Ancient Greek society. In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus, the main character, has different types of encounters throughout his long years of adventure. In Book IX "New Coasts and Poseidon's Son" he arrives to the Cyclopes Land and he faces Polyphemos, a Cyclops. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen states in his text "Monster Culture (Seven Theses)," that monsters express societies' desires, fears, limits, and values, among others. Moreover Cohen states that monsters represent the "other": the one opposite to oneself. Thus by analyzing a culture's monsters one is able to learn about the culture itself. Taking this into account, this paper will demonstrate how Polyphemos' savagery and man–eating behavior is representative of his lack of hospitality and what does this reflect about the Ancient Greek society and their values. Polyphemos' is significantly defined by his savagery and man–eating nature when describing him as a monster. This can be seen in his behavior when he first encounters Odysseus. The Ithacan hero tells the Cyclops about their catastrophic situation, and the creature, unmoved by the story, reaches out and eats some of Odysseus' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin. The Recurring Theme of Death in the Poetry of Philip Larkin. In reading the poetry of Philip Larkin for the first time, one is struck by the characteristically glum atmosphere that pervades most of his poems. The vast majority of his verse is devoted to what is generally taken to be negative aspects of life, such as loneliness and dejection, disappointments, loss, and the terrifying prospect of impending death. Evidently, there are uplifting and humorous sides to his work as well, but for certain reasons Larkin is invariably identified with a downhearted, pessimistic temper and tone of voice, conveying a constant sense of failure and of disappointment that underlies all the more specific emotions and reflections of individual ... (146) Larkin thus gives the impression that the reality of life as it presents itself to him falls blatantly short of what he expected. This disillusionment is particularly prominent when it comes to an assessment of what he has, or rather has not, achieved so far in life. More than once Larkin indicates the feeling that his lifetime passes unused. He talks about 'time/ Torn off unused' ('Aubade', 208) and asks: 'Where has it gone, the lifetime?' ('The View', 195). • 70. This contrasts with some basins of the Central Plateau of Iran that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Odysseus Character Analysis Throughout literature, Odysseus has always been praised as a brilliant hero. While that may be true, he is an atrocious leader. While he always shows bravery and passion, it is always towards his goals, not his shipmates goals. Additionally, throughout the story he betrays his men, in multiple ways. Odysseus is an egregious leader due to the fact that he manipulates his men, cares only about himself, and chooses women over his own men. Throughout his remarkable journey, Odysseus constantly manipulates his men in order to get what he wants. A prime example of this is shown when Odysseus says, "Friends have we never been in danger before this? More fearsome, is it now, than when the Cyclops penned us in his cave? What power he had! Did I not keep my nerve, and use my wits to find a way out for us?"(12. 144–148). This clearly shows how manipulative Odysseus is, as he changes the perception of his men by convincing them that they can fight Sylla off. But he knows that isn't true, but instead of trying to find another way he manipulates his men so he doesn't have to deal with finding a different route. His manipulativeness is shown even more during this conversation with his men, "My men came pressing around me, pleading: 'Why not take these cheeses, get them stowed, come back, throw open all the pens, and make a run for it? We'll drive the kids and the lambs aboard. We say put out again on good salt water.' Ah, how sound that was. Yet I refused. I wished to see the caveman" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. The New Testament And The Four Gospels Through Recurring... There are many aspects of Jesus' life that are very noticeable throughout the New Testament and the four gospels through recurring themes. Mark's Gospel contains the most prominent of those themes. The main themes that our class has focused on, that seem the most important to Mark are secrecy, response, and food/eating. In Mark 8:22–10:52, he has a very strategic way of setting up the stories of Jesus' life. Thought the reading of this section we mainly notice two of the three themes, those being secrecy and response, although earlier in chapter eight we do see how Mark highlights the importance of food/eating in The Feeding of the Four Thousand. Within Mark 8:22–10:52 there are sixteen separate stories that are all placed in a certain order to exemplify what Mark wants to make known of the life of Jesus and his disciples. The section in Mark begins with the story, Jesus Cures a Blind Man at Bethsaida, and ends with The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus. Both of these stories involve hearings of blind men but there are not as similar as may be initially thought. in the first healing, Jesus Cures a Blind Man at Bethsadia, the people of Bethsadia brought the man with no sight out to Jesus and "begged" him to touch the man. Jesus took the man away from the villagers and laid his saliva on the blind man's eye, "'Can you see anything?' [Jesus said] And the man looked up and said, 'I can see people, but they look like trees, walking'" (Mark 8:23–24), The first attempt of healing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Essay about Recurring Decimals Recurring Decimals Infinite yet rational, recurring decimals are a different breed of numbers. Mathematicians, in turn, have been fascinated by these special numbers for over two thousand years. The Hindu–Arabic base 10 system we use today was inspired by the Chinese method of decimals which was actually around 10000 years old. Decimals may have been around for a very long time, but what about recurring decimals? In fact the ancient Greeks were one of the first to deal with recurring decimals. The Greek mathematician Zeno had a paradox in which the answer was a finite number that was a sum of an infinite sequence. The answer to his problem was a recurring decimal, and it definitely would not be the last time recurring decimals played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What about the number "n"? Can the period of the number 1/n be found also? These questions are what I hope to answer in my project. Before utilizing mathematical resources, I decided to approach my problem from scratch and just experiment with numbers on a lazy Sunday morning. The patterns I encountered when working with these numbers were stunning; to keep things simple, I started with small numbers as denominators. Soon enough, I realized that the primes 2 and 5 do not produce any recurring decimals. 3 only provides one repeating digit, and yet 9 does too. The number 7 produces 6 repeating digits, but the number 11 only produces two digits. What is going on here? Well, it appears that some primes p have p–1 repeating digits, but not all of them. However, all primes except 2 and 5 seem to have a period that is (p–1)/n long, where n is some integer. What about the squares of primes? I would like to give the example of 3; although 9 (3x3) has the same number of repeating digits as 3 (1), 27 actually has three repeating digits. Even more stunning, 81 (3^4) has nine repeating digits. It appears as if as the number is raised by a power of 3, then the number of repeating digits is also raised to some power. The number 3 is actually an exception to the general rule that I will mention, and the repeating digits of 3 to the nth power is just 3^(n–2). A conventional example is 7; 7 has 6 repeating digits but 49 (7x7) has 42 (6x7) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Exploring The Roots Of The Recurring Subjects And Symbols... After nearly two centuries completely lacking in images, early Christians finally developed a pictorial language to express their faith. The conventions developed early on would come to define the middle ages, an entire era of almost exclusively Christian images. Early Christians adopted classical conventions for their art, which would serve an opposing purpose for outsiders and initiates. For outsiders, the symbols meant no harm. But to followers of the faith, the images are loaded with meaning. The meaning inherent in the history of the symbol, when combined with a biblical context, creates a full and multi–faceted iconographic tradition. The purpose of this paper is to explore the roots of the recurring subjects and symbols evident in the funerary paintings in Catacombs of Domitilla in Rome. Funerary paintings and sculpture provide the most thorough evidence of early Christian art. An exceptional visual tradition has been preserved in the vast network of underground burial systems: the Roman catacombs. One of the most extensive of these is the Catacomb of Domitilla. Beginning in the third century CE, the Catacombs of Domitilla housed thousands of bodies from families rich and poor, and extended for over seventeen kilometers in four distinct subterranean levels. In terms of style, most of the works are indistinguishable from Roman paintings. If anything, the art style is a more rushed and cramped version of illusionistic Roman wall painting. The use of iconography is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
