I may serve food, and make drinks, and clean tables, create wait–lists, make recommendations,
receive tips, but I want to make one thing clear: I'm not a server. I am not even in the food industry. I

mother, a brother, and a father who had a separate family. Ben grew up in a single parent home with
a mother who worked two to three jobs trying to take care of her boys. They often didn't have food

This puts us as the viewers into a position to see what the time was like around his life. It gave us a
chance in both the movie and the book to see more of the adventures that he was on and how they
all affected him in his development as a character. It was used instead of creating many new events
to just keep the idea of some of them and add Forrest into that event. Giles Hugo, a writer for the
online site The Write Stuff, he talks about how the producers of the movie kept the idea of Forrest's
adventures in Vietnam saying " Gump does save a bunch of his buddies in the jungles of 'Nam"

nominated for multiple academy awards for the film which Is very unique and powerful from
previous films he has directed or written. Compared to films in his early career as a screenwriter
such as "The Night Mare on Elm Street", "The Blob" and the "The Fly 11". All were horror movies
totally different compared to the Shawshank Redemption. But as Darabont gets older he gains
greater experience in the industry he becomes the director of his own huge selling films such as
"The Mist" and the "Green mile". As the film "The Mist" is in the same style of "The Shawshank
Redemption". Darabont screen wrote for as earlier in his carrier. It is a classic American horror film
based in the 1980's. The film the 'Green Mile" would relate a lot more to The Shawshank
Redemption since it is an academy drama film written about a young mans struggle and experiences.

Many gangs were created because the youth were not well educated and started dropping out of
schools. This can be seen through the film sequence when Johnny gives Terry some money to count

In "My Papa's Waltz," Theodore Roethke illustrates an image of a father–son romp around the
kitchen that is both harsh in its play and delicate in its memory. Roethke illustrates the poem's
images from his own childhood memories. Roethke uses simple words to create puzzling phrases
that could be interpreted in different ways. The poem is ambiguous due to certain word choices that
have baffling double meanings. Roethke's poem paints an image of his childhood interactions with
his father. Roethke paints this picture by using ambiguity within a waltz–like structure.
A sense of uneasiness is created from the very first stanza.
The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on like death:
Such waltzing was not easy. (1–4)
The first two lines are a double meaning. "Whiskey on your breath" could mean that the father was
an alcoholic, or that he had just a sip of whiskey. Even a small sip of whiskey can make any child
dizzy because the smell of alcohol is strong. These lines create a double meaning and a sense of
uneasiness in their relationship. In the second two lines, ambiguity arises in the meaning behind the
words. A sense of fun is created when the son is waltzing with his father, but the boy is only tall
enough to reach his father's belt buckle. The father might be having a fun time with his son, but

mind–altering, time to reassess your opinion film! Do you have a movie in your peripheral vision?
You hear about it, you want to see it, but you never see it?
Well, that is exactly how The Boston Strangler was for me. I should know better. My mother
recommended it, and she has excellent taste: Robert Wise 's The Haunting, All 's Quiet on the
Western Front, The Innocents, The Great Escape, The Naked Prey... the list goes on, suffice to say
she never steers me wrong.
This week we look at The Boston Strangler starring Tony Curtis. My mother and I are not fans of
rape, violence or torture. This film is like a news story, not the Grand Guignol. And yes, in case, you
are wondering, Tony Curtis plays the Boston Strangler! I know, right? When you think of ideal
actors to play a rapist and a serial killer, his isn 't the first name that comes to mind. But sometimes,
the best choice is an unusual choice.
The Boston Strangler is a docudrama, following the Boston Police Department 's attempts to find
and apprehend a real–life serial rapist and killer, allegedly Albert DeSalvo. DeSalvo suffered from
multiple personality disorder, this fragmented reality combined with the mediated nature of news
reporting creates a stylish dissociative thriller.
Before you let your imagination run wild with, "Judy, Judy, Judy!" Curtis cast–off his faux Cary
Grant accent. According to his autobiography,

My Papa's Waltz is a poem written by Theodore Roethke, published in his collection of poems in
1942. It captures the complex relationship the speaker has with his father. The speaker describes his
relationship with his father as difficult and frightening using symbolism, tone, and word choice. The
poem reveals that the speaker is afraid of his father although he still loves him. In this essay, I will
explain how Roethke portrays their relationship with the aforementioned literary terms. The
strongest literary device Roethke uses to convey the speaker's relationship with his father is
symbolism. The waltz symbolizes the way they interact when his father comes home drunk. The
waltz also serves as an extended metaphor for the relationship the speaker has with his father,
representing the difficult and scary bond the two have. When the speaker says "We romped until the
pans... Slid from the kitchen shelf..." on lines six and seven, it becomes clear that this is not an
ordinary dance, and that the father was abusing his son. On line three the speaker says "But I hung

Any interpretation of this story is due to the reader's personal emotions and feelings toward his or
her own Papa. This story can be either a dance between him and his father, thus bringing them closer
together. However, there is a darker side of this poem, on this side it is an unsettling fight between a
boy and his drunken father and all the intimacy of the dance does not make an impression on the
reader and is overshadowed by the anger they feel. Theodore Roethke manipulates our emotions in
this poem using literary convention. A Waltz is a lighthearted, easily accessible dance. In a waltz, a

The whiskey on his breath is not necessarily negative due to the factors of the working class culture
in 1948 when this poem was published. To add on to this view that he is a hard worker with
knuckles that are battered and a "palm caked hard by dirt," the man is a grafter who works long and
hard for the family he loves. The overwhelming joy he feels when he sees his son makes him want
to dance in a waltz. Due to him and his father's height difference, the son's ear scraped on the
father's belt buckle. The longer they dance the happier he get. This causes him to become more and
more clumsier due to his drunken state, and it starts to become too much for the son the handle and
begins to become very rough. This dance becomes so rough that the dancing causes the pans to fall
to the floor and causes the son to, "hang on like death" to his father. The beating on his son's head is
part of joy at the music he hears in his head. The mother remains an outsider to what is actually
happening in front of her and is naturally unhappy due to the random disturbance the father makes.
After the dance is over the son goes to bed and clings to his father's shirt in love and admiration for
him. The negative side of this poem is an abusive drunken father. This is prevalent to his father's
obvious drunkenness. This is tied together with the image of a knuckle, beating, belt buckle, and
negativity in the word "death." These

The Mood Of My Papa's Waltz By Theodore Roethke
Theodore Roethke's poem, "My Papa's Waltz", is subject to the interpretation of the reader. One may
choose to see waltz as a recollection of a beautiful moment in time. Another interpretation has a
much darker tone as one could choose to see the violence within the movement of the waltz and not
the beauty for which it is known. Thus, one may interpret the poem as a fond memory of a father as
told by his son, the author. However, the poem could also be viewed as a revelation of a complicated
relationship between a father and a son. With that said, the first set of lines "The whiskey on your
breath / Could make a small boy dizzy" (lines 1–2) reveal the fact that his father may have been an
alcoholic or was at least drunk during the waltz. The fact that the author chose to blend something as
elegant as a waltz with something so violent as an intoxicated individual is indicative of the author's

Wall Street, directed by Oliver Stone in 1987, was the first of a genre of films that has since become
ubiquitous in American popular culture. The movie depicts Charlie Sheen as a new Wall Street
trader who, after 40 days of phone calls and a box of (illegal) Cuban cigars, buys himself an
audience with charismatic trading wizard Gordon Gekko. Gekko is a master of arbitrage, a shady
practice in which companies are bought and torn apart for the value of their innards. He is also a
master at insider trading, an illegal practice which gives investors the upper hand in a supposedly
"fair" market. In an effort to squeeze his way into the inner circle of Wall Street trading, Buddy Fox

wife and her lover, he is sentenced to life imprisonment to Shawshank State Penitentiary. Although

African–Americans have long endured demeaning and misrepresentative images within the film
industry and American society as a whole. In the early 20th century, an abundance of films depicted
an idealized vision of life in the south, in which blacks were happily subservient to their role as the
property of their white masters. The roles of black characters were also portrayed by white actors in
blackface. Blackface was a form of theatrical makeup used to represent an image of a black person
and was employed as a means to portray negative images of African–Americans and to showcase
them in an inferior light. Fortunately, the use of blackface dwindled as it was considered extremely
offensive and derogatory, although the practice still remains in use today though very limited due to
the rightful stigma surrounding it. However, the negative portrayals of African–Americans in film

After reading this poem, I found myself able to interpret it two very different ways. Was this a poem
of a playful father and son? Was this a poem of a drunken father beating his child? With adding the
paper of Roethke's revisions by McKenna, I realized this was the purpose of the poem. A person

The King's Character in a Cinematic Production of...
Although labeled as a history, the strength of Shakespeare's Henry V lies not in the events that occur
in the play, but in the delicate portrayal of the characters involved. Shakespeare's audience would
have already known the story of Henry V's campaign on France and thus would have had no reason
to watch a play that simply re–enacted past events. Therefore, the appeal of such a play, as well as
the themes and the content, would have been dependent largely on the characters themselves.
It is obvious that the most prominent character is the man whose name the play carries – Henry V.

The subtleties of such ambiguities make any direction a complex task as one tries to reconcile
conflicting viewpoints. In doing so, there are two widely respected cinematic versions of Henry V
that may be considered: Laurence Olivier's 1944 production and Kenneth Branagh's 1989 version.
Olivier's version is pure patriotism, while Branagh's is grittier and much darker. Olivier's is more
stylized and innocent, giving it a more chivalric and fairy–tale atmosphere. Branagh's, on the other
hand, is more realistic in its portrayal of Henry's invasion of France. However, as Shaw points out,
in each case the king emerges as the hero through cinematic and textual editing decisions. The most
glaring omission common to both is Henry's order to kill the French prisoners taken at the Battle of
Agincourt. This scene is omitted because it is one of those textual ambiguities that may leave an
audience of the original play uncertain as to the quality of man that the Henry is. This would have
been in opposition to both Branagh and Olivier's heroic depictions.
This would not, however, be the route chosen for this production. Henry V, as Norman Rabkin
describes it in Shakespeare and the Problem of Meaning, is "a work whose ultimate power is
precisely the fact that it points in two opposite directions, virtually daring us to choose
