The primary objective is to score by driving the ball through the goals, which
is known as a goal worth 3 point , or kicking the ball over the bar worth 1
point.
The team with the highest point score at the end of the match win.
The female version of the game is called ladies Gaelic and is similar to men’s
game with a few minor rule changes.
7. The Ball
The game is played with a round leather football made of 18 stitched leather
panels, similar in appearance to a traditional volley ball but larger, with a
circumference of 68-70cm, weighing between 480-500g when dry. It may be
kicked or hand passed. A hand pass is not a punch but rather a strike of the
ball with the side of the closed fist, using the knuckle of the thumb.

backs, a centre back, 2 mid fielders, 2 wing forwards, a centre forward, 2
corner forwards a forward plus up to 15 substitutes, of which 5 may be used.
As for younger teams or teams that do not have enough players for 15 aside,
it is uncommon to play 13 aside. Each player is numbered 1-15, starting with
the goalkeeper, who must wear a jersey coloured differently from that of his

pick up the ball with your hurley into your hand and carry it for not more then
four steps in the hand. After those steps you may bounce the ball on your
hurley and back to the hand , but you are forbidden to catch the ball more
then twice. You can run balancing or bouncing the ball (solo) on the hurley
indefinitely. Players may contest for the ball by playing it with the hurley or
by shoulder charging an opponent side to side.
Each team consists of 15 players, lining out as per the diagram.
