The American Revolution started on April 19, 1775 and lasted until September 3, 1783. This time was important in history. It will always be
remembered until today. The American Revolution was the worst thing ever! The Colonist should have had independence and be separate from Great
Britain. The American Revolution made people separate and not be together and have relationships with each other. The Native Americans had a
hunting ground that the Colonist could not go to. The British did not treat people fairly and they made people do wrong things. The Colonist should

George Orwell's anecdote of "Shooting an Elephant" from 1936 was written for a literary magazine to inform British citizens of the struggles he
experienced while working his restricting job, and begins with him dwelling on the concept that he is alone, and the only company he has is the
pressuring wills of the 2,000 Indians watching him handle a rifle. He continually arguing against himself on whether or not to shoot the elephant, but
the tyrannical British government he works for has placed him alone as a policeman in India with no one to agree with and talk him into doing what
Orwell believes to be the best choice, leaving him with the pressure to adhere to 2,000 Indians' desires that comply with British laws, resulting in his
obedience. The ease of this for the despotic British government motivates them to pursue this act of control.
Orwell begins this passage by talking about the "immense crowd" that was continuously growing to watch him shoot the elephant. The Indian's interest
in him skyrocketed when this harmful act became his task. These beginning 11 lines were written to highlight the fact that everyone watching was

Germany attacked London first, dropping V1 and V2 rockets from aircrafts ("World War II"). They called these rockets flying bombs and
nicknamed the V1 rocket the Doodlebug. The Doodlebug had no pilot and made a droning noise after it was dropped all the way until it hit the
ground because they traveled at such a great speed. From the time that the Doodlebug was dropped people had only a short fifteen seconds to take
cover before the rocket would make contact with the ground. Although the Doodlebugs did serious damage when they landed, most of them were
duds and many of them never made contact with land. Over 10,000 Doodlebugs were launched, but only and estimated 2,500 ever made contact

of World War II. NaziGermany began the War on September 1, 1939, by invading Poland. Having pledged military support to Poland, Great Britain
and France declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. After Poland surrendered on September 27, 1939 there was a relative lull in the fighting.

that called upon British civilians to donate ships of all sizes to move men and equipment from the beaches of Dunkirk. Although new British Prime
Minister Churchill believed only 45,000 troops could be saved, 338,000 soldiers "miracuously" returned safely to British shores. This proved a
pivotal moment in World War II. If Operation Dynamo was unsuccessful, the loss of thousands of trained soldiers may have prevented Britain from
defending itself against an inevitable German invasion and may have pressured Britain to surrender. Since the United States and the Soviet Union had
not yet joined the War against Germany, the only army then capable of fighting Hitler was the British army. During the early stages of the
Revolutionary War, General George Washington led an evacuation similar to Dunkirk. Between August 27 and August 30, 1776, retreating from
advancing British forces in Brooklyn, the American Army ferried 9,000 trapped soldiers across the East River under a heavy fog. These soldiers
would also prove indispensable in future battles. Although these operations were dangerous and unlikely to succeed, the evacuations took on heroic
natures and, instead of ending the wars, helped rally the rescued forces to victories that would reshape the world.
