thriving from trade and agriculture. At the end of the war the parliament in
England had no organized plan to reduce the enormous debt they had bestowed upon themselves.
Financing the French and Indian War had almost doubled the national debt. The parliament had
stumbled into the beginning of the
Revolutionary War without even knowing it. They were looking in an entirely different direction
when the colonies exploded with a rage that eventually turned into the

They objected to following these new duties because they had long acknowledged as legitimate.
In the second place the sugar act reduced the duty on a gallon of molasses by 50%. The only thing
was that mechanisms were put in place so they could collect the duty and the American shippers
were forced to pay it. Objections were heard to the sugar act because it was said that it was revenue
not regulation and so was illegitimate. the stamp act was legitimate . The tax was laid directly on
the colonist purposely for raising revenue .
What the tax did was mak! e most papers illegal by making all legal documents have to have the

The battle of Trenton and Princeton began to erupt in the same year of the Revolutionary War. The
Revolutionary War had started because the Americans wanted the same rights the as the British

demands in which the British thought the Americans demands were a cause of outrage. There were
so many different wars that had erupted during the Revolutionary War. The battle between Trenton

George Washingtonknew that his men had exceeded their expectations with the battle on Trenton
and that they had more challenges to face. George Washington knew that doing nothing would be
dangerous so he turned his focus to planning another attack at Princeton. George Washington was

General Charles and James Grant with the eight hundred British Troops marching south from
Princeton. George Washington had deployed five hundred men who he had assigned to watch

was under General Hugh Mercer to destroy a bridge. General Hugh Mercers' men were killed. There

The American who had a history of "salutary neglect," in which the Thirteen Colonies really never
had to deal with the British government collecting taxes until the aftermath of the French and
Indian War. This is what started a lot of talk of the colonies wanting independence, just paying for
taxes to pay for the army that the Colonies wanted to protect themselves from further French and

or working around loopholes, or even attacking tax collectors and tarring and feathering them,
which would lead to permanent damage and scarring to their bodies. This caused tensions to rise
between the Colonist and the British Government, and events like the Boston Massacre happened
and then several years later the start of the war at Concord and Lexington. As mentioned above
the war started at the Battle of Concord and Lexington. What had happened is the British heard
about how colonist had a stockpile of weapons and gunpowder at these towns, so they went to go

going to be imprisoned or killed by the British, which they were rightfully so to think and took up
arms against the British and began firing at the British troops. These shots would be dubbed, "the
shot heard around the world," because this was a signal of a British colony rebelling against the
Crown. The Colonist had
