Essay About My Speech
The first time I realized I had a speech impediment I was 5 years old. My cousins and I were sitting
on the back porch of my grandmother's house, on a hot summer afternoon in August. We were
talking about how pretty the flowers looked in my grandmother's backyard, when I said, "I just love
lellow flowers." As soon as that statement left my mouth, everyone laughed at me. I remember
thinking, "Why are they all laughing at me?" They asked me to say it again, and I said "lellow."
Until they told me I was saying it wrong, I never knew. My cousins laughing at me continuously
embarrassed me for the way I spoke. Whenever you are around a person for so long, you get used to
the way they act and speak. When the school called my mother while I was ... Show more content on

"Allie, don't make fun of your little sister like that. She cannot help it," Mother says. That never
stopped Allie. She started to mimic me any time I did not say a word correctly. Whenever she would
do it, I would feel embarrassed and frustrated. We learned later my kindergarten year that I could not
pronounce R, S, and T sounds. Mrs. Reeves had to completely re–teach me how to say those sounds.
It took an insane amount of work for me to re–learn those sounds. I would work every day at school
and at home with my parents. Knowing I had a speech problem made me never want to speak out
loud in front people. Whenever we would have to read out loud in class, my teacher would help me
pronounce the words. The teacher would help me, but I would cry because I could not pronounce the
words. My classmates would get aggravated any time I had to read out loud because they knew I
could not say the words correctly. I was embarrassed and never wanted to read in front of the class.
However, one thing I never had a problem doing was speaking in front of my friends. They knew I
had a problem speaking, but they never seemed to mind. They would help me whenever I needed a
few words. They never judged me for my speech impediment. My friends were actually jealous
because I was the only one to get out of class. They would tell me, "Gosh, you are so lucky to get
out of class every day during Language." Or, "How cool would it be if we went to speech

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Analysis
John Ford's The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) centers around the story of infamous bandit
Liberty Valance's death. Ransom Stoddard (James Stewart) reveals the little known fact that it was
not he, the new–to–the West lawyer, but Western gunslinger Tom Doniphon (John Wayne) who shot
Valance. A newspaper editor decides to leave Ransom's account unpublicized. He explains, "This is
the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." From a historical perspective, this
statement can be read as exhibited awareness of the West's mythification. In this essay, I will show
how the film additionally less explicitly draws attention to the mythification of the West by
representing elements of the West differently than how characters imagine them. Because the film's
narrative is conveyed as a frame tale, action takes place in two different time periods. The opening
scene mainly consists of desolate land with mountains in the background. As train a train advances
across the frame from right to left, it enters the foreground. The vehicle serves two functions. Firstly,
it brings Ransom and his wife, Hallie, to the Western town of Shinbone so that they may attend
Tom's wake. Mourning Tom provides the basis for the framing narrative. Ransom initiates an
embedded story, the tale of Liberty Valance's downfall, while talking to reporters in Shinbone. The
train's second, more symbolic function is its role as a sign of modernity. As opposed to journeying
by training in the

Motivational Leader Analysis
While I don't claim to be (anywhere near) the best Personal Development Speaker in the world, if
you were to Google the search term Motivational Speaker you would typically find that my name
usually comes out somewhere near the very top of the list of about two million matches. Now, let
me quickly add that this fact has pretty much nothing to do with my speaking skills or my profile,
and everything to do with Johnnie's ability to do what he does with those amazing tech skills of his.
I don't really understand how he does it, but I do know that he's good and I'm glad he's on my team.
The two most obvious consequences of this Google ranking are: a) I get a bunch of speaking work
(nice). Thanks Baldy. b) I get a bunch of emails from people who ... Show more content on

Always operate with integrity and humility. Build respect, trust and a quality reputation as a
presenter and educator. By the way, don't confuse humility for weakness. Humility actually requires
real strength. 11. Don't focus on the money. Focus on becoming the best you can be and the financial
rewards will be a by–product of that success. Lose the rock star mindset and patiently, methodically
and consciously work at becoming a quality speaker. 12. Be clear and certain about what you want
to share. What are your key messages? Be succinct and don't waffle. Use stories which re–enforce
your message. Give people practical, useful information and strategies which can be applied as soon
as they leave the presentation. 13. If you use a power–point slide show (if you must), don't have 300
slides!! Less is more. Don't have too many words on each slide and don't use more than twenty
slides in a one hour presentation (at the most!). 14. Talk with people not at them. Less lecturing,
more conversational chat. People won't connect with you if they don' think you're like them (in
some way). 15. Don't be precious. If you constantly need to have your ego stroked and you can't
deal with criticism then this ain't the career for

The Music Of The Children 's Chorus Of Crane ( Ccc )
I love music and I have dedicated a lot of my time to what I love. I have been in the Children's
Chorus of Crane (CCC), played piano, and been in the Clarkson Golden Knotes a cappella group.
From all of these musical experiences, I learned to become a better musician. I learned that the
benefit of producing music outweighs the time and dedication I must put into it. I have experienced
the satisfaction of performing music for other's enjoyment. These are talents I will be able to take
with me forever.
When I was younger, I was in the CCC from 3rd grade to 10th grade. I learned dedication. I was
only nine years old when I started singing in the choir once a week for two hours straight. I learned
what was expected at a very formal concert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

RELIGION
Although I am not very religious, I attended the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton starting in
2nd grade. This year I was much less active, but I still kept in touch with the church youth group. I
take to heart the U.U. church principles. The seven principles overlap the values I have been taught
at home, and that LRCS practices. I also admire how religion can bring people of all ages into one
caring community. I value the connections I have made and the members of the church have been
very supportive of me.
SUPPORT–SYSTEM
My strong support system is the main reason I feel prepared to graduate high school and begin
college. –family and friends
FAMILY
My family has been nothing but supportive, loving, and caring. They taught me the value of love
from a young age. My parents taught me right from wrong, and my sister taught me to hold my
temper. These three people are my mentors, my family, and my best friends.
FRIENDS–
I have been extremely lucky, I have become very close to my small circle of friends. I am graduating
with Nora Bradford and Gwen Smith, two of my longest lasting friendships. I also have stayed best
friends with Sarah Rivers, and most recently, I was luck enough to

Hockey Is A Unifying Force
Hockey is "closer to a religion than a simple sporting pastime" in Canada. It is "a unifying force" in
a nation where one state wanted to separate from the rest of Canada. Hockey has a major impact on
the social, economic, cultural and political realms of Canada. In the 2014 olympics, alcohol laws in
bars were lifted when Canada was in the finals for the gold medal. People were drinking in 5 o'clock
in the morning which would be frowned upon in many social circles in any other circumstances.

Not only did he score goals at will but he also scored the big goals, for example, he scored the most

Two of them against the heavily favoured Detroit Red Wings in 1951 both in Detroit one a minute

Westerns often stress the harshness of the wilderness and frequently set the action in an arid,
desolate landscape. Specific settings include isolated forts, ranches and homesteads; the Native
American village; or the small frontier town with its saloon, general store, livery stable and
jailhouse. Apart from the wilderness, it is usually the saloon that emphasizes that this is the Wild
West: it is the place to go for music, women, gambling, drinking, brawling and shooting. In some
Westerns, where civilization has arrived, the town has a church and a school; in others, where
frontier rules still hold sway The Western genre portrays the conquest of the wilderness of the

Music in Generations Essay
All music has changed tremendously throughout the years. Each generation has several specific
songs that defines that generation. Every song has different lyrics that describe the emotions that the
artists are feeling. The songs connect to each individual in many different ways. Lyrics to a song is
what makes music wonderful. Each song touches someone through ways like teaching a life lesson
or touching your heart. Every generation has music that impacts the world by motivating people to

This generation has obtained a tremendous amount of accessible information through technology.
Technology has progressed during this generation which has corrupted the minds of teens
everywhere. Since technology has become a huge factor in generation y's lives, the technology for
music has transformed as well. Just in generation y's period of time, the way to obtain music
advanced from cassettes to downloading or pirating music. When someone wanted to purchase a
song, they would have to buy the whole cassette or cd. In reality, they spent way too much just to
listen to that one or two songs. Technology has created a way that people can buy or steal songs.
Without technology generation y would be lost, technology helps music define a generation.
Generations before generation y think that television, music videos, and music in general has
affected the kids in generation y. Trends and habits are formed by listening or watching. Music has
wonderful and meaningful effects on different people depending on how the music is retained.
Music videos affect generations differently because each generation has a different outlook and
opinion on the lyrics. Each teen or adult reacts to music videos differently. Most songs and music
videos incorporate love along with heart breaks, life scenarios, money and the different styles of life.
Our generation's music is considered to be one of the best generations of

Fiesta de Quince is the most important event every girl wants once they turn fifteen. Quinceañera

Who Am I? Who I Am?
Who is Kyle Rudzinski? This question is one that is very complex to answer, and in order to answer
it, I must delve into my past, as well as look into my future aspirations. My life hasn't consisted of
numerous significant events that have shaped my life, but rather countless choices over the years
that I have made to get me to where I am, and who I am today. After reading My Freshman Year,
and viewing the film, Neuland, the outlook that I have of myself and on my life has drastically
changed. My Freshman Year revealed to me how much my life has changed since I came to college,
and all the choices that I have subconsciously made that have greatly impacted my life, even if I
don't often realize it. Neuland has helped me become more appreciative of the life that I've had, as
well as allow me to grasp some of the traumatic issues that others have to go through, which further,
makes me want to find ways to help those people through their issues in the future. These two media
have impacted my interpretations of the world and of myself, but at the same time, haven't
completely changed who I am. So, who exactly am I? The answer to "Who I am" sensibly starts at
my birth. On June 15, 1998 at approximately 4:05 in the morning in Albany, New York, I was born.
The next few years are obviously absent from my mind because I was too young to comprehend the
world around me. However, I learned how lucky I was to grow up in a wonderful home which is the
home I still currently live in, in

The Silencing of Mary Dyer
Society has not changed much since the time of Mary Dyer. Challenges surface
left and right to people undeserving. No one should stand down to what they believe in.
Today, individuals are faced with much discrimination, but religious discrimination
seems to stand out the most. Everyone is left with a choice to make despite what society
has to say. Just like Mary Dyer.
Mary Dyer was a Quaker. Quakers are a group of people with Christian roots.
Quakers believe in equality. They don't like it when others try to be better than what they
really are. Quakers believe that there is God in every single human being. They are
mostly concerned with human rights, social justice, peace, freedom of conscience,
environmental issues, and community life. (BBCNews)
Mary Dyer was born in England. She ended up marrying a man named William
Dyer in London on October 27, 1633. William Dyer was a milliner in the new exchange
and also a member of the Fishmonger's company. Unlike Mary, he was a Puritan. Mary,
and her husband William, were above the average education levels. They were admitted
in the Boston Church after they immigrated to Massachusetts. After William became a
fee man of the Bay colony, he became involved with a lot of public relations and soon
had a lot of importance among the people. (Notable Women Ancestors)

Analysis Of Jay Z 's August 4th
Jay–Z's "December 4th" was the first song on his Black Album, which was released in 2003, during
one of the many peaks in the rapper's career. The song includes his mother talking about his
childhood in–between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his
life up until he formed the persona that is Jay–Z. Although "December 4th" is thought to have been
about the rappers's presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career,
instead, the "December 4th" is about the artist 's transition from Shawn Carter to Jay–Z. He tells the
story, not of the end, but of the beginning of Jay–Z and he does this by separating himself from his
former self, Shawn Carter; examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay–Z
was born and continues to live. This song is very indicative of a speaker who is narrating and
advising his former self and showing the importance of accepting and how one came to be. The song
begins almost as a confessional, telling his audience about the decisions and choices he made
leading up to the creation of 'Jay–Z'. When he says, "I'm leaving after this song/ So you ain't gotta
feel no way about Jay so long/ At least let me tell you why I'm this way," the rapper is letting his
audience know that this song is about his life and the aspects of his upbringing that lead him to his
present life as Jay–Z. It is also important to note that the lines above are being told from the point of
view of Carter

When Choosing Kind By Dr. Wayne Dyer
This essay is about choosing kind. "When given the choice between being right and being kind,

when you're not given the choice you should be kind. Definitely when you are given the choice
CHOOSE KIND. Almost every one in the story wonder is kind so I am going to give you some
example for different characters. Auggie was kind when he would try to be friends with other kids
but they would call him freak and zombie and names like that. Something kind Summer did is she
sat by Auggie at lunch because she felt bad that he was just siting their alone. It was also kind
because Mr.Tushman did not tell her to be friends with him and she kept sitting their with him. Via
was always kind she was never mean to him like most siblings. She always let him get the attention
(one because he is younger and two he had problems and she knew it). Now Jack some kind things
he did was he always stood up for Auggie. He also choose Auggie over Julian so nice VS. mean.

Native Americans and Their Intrinsic Relationship with...
Dances With Wolves, directed by Kevin Costner, and The Searchers, directed by John Ford, looks
into the fabric of this country's past. The media has created a false image of the relationship between
Native Americans and White men to suppress the cruel and unfortunate reality. Both directors
wanted to contradict these stereotypes, but due to the time period the films were created, only one
film was successful. Unlike The Searchers, Dancing With Wolves presents a truly realistic
representation of Native Americans.
Both Dances With Wolves and The Searchers protagonists, Dunbar and Ethan, embark on a journey
and evolve in different ways. The purpose of Dunbar's journey is to find who he is. For Ethan, it is
to rescue his nieces who he feels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this depiction, the Native Americans lure the men away from their homes, savagely kill their
families, and commit wrong. It is the white men who have to painstakingly hunt down the Indians to
reinstate justice, righting the wrongs that have been done. Native Americans are depicted as a
demonizing form of "the other," a force to which fear and repression can be the only responses.
Costner's work almost inverts this.
Both films critique White racism and violence. Dunbar is guilty of the Whites and realizes that they
are involved in a system where the Native culture, habitats, and populations are being destroyed. To
purge his overwhelming sense of guilt, he switches sides and fights against his old comrades. White
society is the demon while the Native Americans are apotheosized. In The Searchers, Ford presented
Ethan not as the hero but almost as a subtle villain, a racist that embarks on a fixated and zealous
mission that is fuelled by his hatred of Native Americans. Ford uses Ethan to depict the wrong
actions of Whites.
Kevin Costner and John Ford both use the Natives language in their films. The big difference is the
effort of the directors. Costner uses sub–titles and actual Native language unlike Ford. Ford does not
use the proper language for the Comanche. In beginning of Dances With Wolves, there is not as
much dialogue between Dunbar and Natives, but the body language is significant along with other
forms of symbolic communication used to make the story

Why Is John Wayne A Good Role Model
John Wayne
One of the most famous western movie stars in the mid–1900's, John Wayne did not let his small
beginnings stop him from reaching his goals. He worked long and hard to reach his place in history
as the western star he was, and still is today. John Wayne's hard work, determination, and the ability
to achieve his goals, made him a great actor, person, and role model.
John Wayne's original name was Marion Robert Morrison, who was born on May 26, 1907, in
Winterset, Iowa. His parents were Mary Alberta Brown and Clyde Leonard Morrison. John had one
brother, Robert Morrison. His father, Clyde, developed a lung condition that required him to move
his family to the warmer climates of California when John was just seven. Clyde started ranching
and farming in the Mojave Desert, but did not succeed. The family moved again, to Glendale,
California where his father opened a pharmacy, in which John helped manage in the summer. He
also did many strange jobs to earn money, such as trucker's helper and delivery boy.
John had a famous nickname, "Duke." This nickname came from the family dog, an Airedale,
named, "Duke." John and Duke spent so much time together; people started calling
Ussery 2 them, "Big and Little Duke." Sadly, in 1926, his parents divorced, John stayed with his

Personal Narrative: Coffee Brewing
The sunlight met my sleepy eyes as I smelled the familiar aroma of coffee brewing. Fumbling for
the remote, I thought of a visit to church with my cousins the previous Sunday. They had invited me
to return this Sunday, but I had felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, when the pastor insisted that
"marriage is between a natural born man and a natural born woman." I wasn't eager to subject
myself to further discomfort. "Not today," I thought. Today, the OWN network would be my means
of spiritual connection. I felt more connected to Super Soul Sunday than I had with the traditional
brick and mortar place of worship. Before I could roll out of bed, the familiar words, "BREAKING
NEWS" scrolled across the screen. "Here we go again," I thought, but it was ... Show more content

However, I decided that I would not be lead by emotions. Even though some of the victims were my
friends, this was bigger than friendships and who I knew. Innocent people had lost their lives at the
hands of a disturbed madman yet; I was convinced that we were all culpable on some level. Case in
point, consider our current political climate and how we have become so divisive and unwilling to
consider thoughts, ideas or beliefs outside of our own. We have become accepting of a not so
politically correct culture–which is nothing more than a license to say whatever we choose without
any consideration for the impact it may have on others. Words have power, and I am convinced that
there is power in the written or spoken word. Whether it is ISIS propaganda or a joke referencing
someone as a fagot, like cancer, harmful words metastasize. We can contribute creatively,
financially, and otherwise, but until we realize the value in being rather than doing, these tragic
themes will continue to surface and remind of us the underbelly of society. They will only impact a

The Haymarket Affair
The Haymarket Affair
For many, America is not just the country they happen to live in but also it is a place of freedoms,
liberties and independencies and even a refuge for some people. In 1886 though, a group of people
attempted to share their opinion in Haymarket Square, Chicago, which led to a dangerous riot and a
series of trials with convictions and executions. Throughout the affair, innocent lives were lost,
people were wrongly accused, and the judicial system was revealed as flawed. Throughout the trial,
Constitutional rights were overlooked in the name of prejudice and because of fear, just to please the
public. The Haymarket Affair involved a violent riot caused by overbearing police officers; it also
involved unfair trials ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the close of trial proceedings, the judge informed the jury that they could find the eight accused
to be guilty even if the crime was committed by someone who was not charged. He also said that it
was not necessary for the state to know the identity of the bomber or to prove that the bomber had
read any of the articles or poster of the charged anarchists. Though the judge, prosecutor, and jury
can be considered misguided in their bias and actions of injustice, some of the witnesses against the
accused are widely acknowledged as liars. In comparison to the eyewitnesses of the defendants,
every part of their details went against those of the witnesses of the police.
Though the defendants faced prejudice and discrimination, they kept on with their cases and appeals
until the verdicts were determined. The attorneys of the accused were Black and Swett. Along with
the allegation that Grinnell's witnesses were lying, the defending lawyers said that none of the eight
had intended for any form violence and they even offered proof that some of the accused were not
even near Haymarket Square on May 4th. Furthermore along with their apparent innocence, six of
the eight were not present when the bomb went off, and the two that were there, Spies and Samuel
Fielden were both in plain view of the crowd and police. Despite the logic of the defendant's case,
passion and prejudice led the jury to conclude that the bombing was a direct result of a deliberate
conspiracy.

The Political Stage Of Mr. Gandhi
The time–lapse between 1919–1939 saw the rise of a man, soon to be known for his unique
approach towards politics. This man, Ghandi, brought about a movement that started a ripple that
would soon turn into a huge tide of anarchy for the Brits. His politics promoted the concept of
"Swaraj– Self–Rule" and ignited the flare for nationalism. This time period also saw the Muslims
and Hindus coming together for a common purpose.
The purpose of this paper is to give a clear idea of what politics was like back in that time in India.
This piece will use a sequential approach of events leading up to the arrival of Mr. Gandhi on the
political stage followed by an exploration into his endeavors and efforts to bring about a revolution
that proved to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before proceeding, let's have a quick look at the local's attitude towards the British. The state after
the World War 1 was that of a rule without order, trust or sense of unity. In the state of war
emergency, the British passed a bill, Rowlett Act, which allowed them to arrest and detain an
individual without a proper trial. Obvious as it should be, there were huge protests against this
insane bill, violating basic human rights. One dreadful event that was written down in history with
blood came about in these times. On April 13th 1919, General Reginald Dyer took it upon himself to
disperse a peaceful protest in enclosed space called the Jallianwalla Bagh in Amritsar. 370 protestors
were killed and 1000 were wounded though some argue figures were much higher. What was further
disconcerting was General Dyer's lack of remorse or repent. On his return home he was lauded and
awarded as opposed to being held accountable for his actions . This added fuel to the fire, and the
resent towards the British started gaining popularity and the Indians decided they had had enough.
They refused to stand–by and watch themselves being toyed around like puppets and being ridiculed
not to forget tortured like animals.
It was during these times of unrest that M.K Gandhi made his presence for the first time. He

Narrative Structure Of Unforgiven
Almost all movies have characteristics that categorize them in two or more genres. A great example
of this being Unforgiven. The film's dark and cynical characters occasionally resemble that of a film
noir while its overall narrative structure depicts itself as a classical western style film. While there is
an argument to call Unforgiven a film noir, it is hard to deny the idea that the film is mainly a film of
the western genre. The basis of this idea, mostly relies on the portrayal of the lead protagonist, and
the end of the film. While it would be easy to use setting, lighting, camera angles, etc to manifest the
idea, it would not do it justice. By using these narrative tropes, it becomes coherent that Unforgiven
is just another well–made film that uses the structure of a western to construct its plot.
Clint Eastwood's character, William, is a perfect example of the western classic hero. For example,
the character is unknown to both the viewer and to the society in the film. In The Structure of The
Western Film, the author describes the second similarity found in a western film as "The hero is a
stranger to this society" (41). One of the first scenes in Unforgiven shows William living in a small
home accompanied by his kids far away from the rest of civilization. His dirtied appearance gives
the audience the interpretation he is just an ordinary farmer trying to make a living and support his
family. However, he has an unknown past that is not fully discussed till much

Compare And Contrast Samsung And Apple
When watching multiple commercials for comparable products, sometimes even back to back, they
can seem very different at first but upon closer inspection some can start to see their similarities.
Both Samsung and Apple are prominent phone makers, and most people either own one of their
phones, or know of them. While both companies have commercials that are both similar and
different from one another, even the ones that seem to be the most different have their ties that make
them more comparable than one may think. In Apple's commercial for the iPhone called "Barber,"
and Samsung's Galaxy S7 commercial featuring Lil' Wayne, each has their own style in presenting
their product to potential viewers. Despite this they are both related in that they are both featuring
one specific feature for their products, have a lighthearted tone, a central focus, and a quick pace.
Making each one entertaining to watch, even multiple times. Both commercials are overall good and
when looking at the similarities, these are what make the commercials even more so. Apple's
commercial simply called, "Barbers," begins with the ad showing a barbershop from the outside, and
quickly goes to the inside where a man is getting his hair cut. While another guy is sitting in one of
the chairs he decides to take out his iPhone to take a picture once the man is done. The barber then
decides to put this picture on the window of the shop. This creates a snowball effect as more and
more people are attracted to

Media Influences On Our Perception, Knowledge, Attitudes,...
Media informs and influences us, as well as it impacts our perception, knowledge, attitudes, and
beliefs about certain things that take place. June 12, 2016 was a tragic night at Pulse, a gay nightclub
in Orlando, Florida. Omar Mateen, a 29–year–old security guard, initiated a terrorist attack, killing
49 people and wounding 53. He used an AR–15–style rifle and a handgun to carry out the attack.
The hate crime took place just shortly before the club was supposed to close. When people started
hearing bullets being shot, they started to hide under the bar, on the ground of the dance floor, in the
bathrooms, looking for exits wherever they could. This is one great example of a tragic occurrence
that received a great amount of coverage worldwide, and it sparked a large amount of interest,
reaction, and attention from people. I want to discuss five articles specifically, published within a
week 's time of each other, that are written with different intentions for different audiences. The first
of the five articles would be an article published by CNN on June 13, 2016 at 11:05am, "Orlando
shooting: 49 killed, shooter pledged ISIS allegiance." This article is very similar in context to an
article published by NPR also on June 13, 2016 at 7:29am, "Orlando 's Deadly Mass Shooting: What

were published the day after the shooting, only hours apart. The introductions are written in the

Essay about Macklemore Otherside Analysis
Otherside–Macklemore "We live on the cusp of death thinking that it won't be us," (l.32).
Macklemore is saying that people think that they will not die from doing drugs. In this song
Macklemore is stating that drugs can be really addictive also he states that drugs can really mess you
up and how media influences you to do drugs, for example rappers like Lil Wayne which he talks
about in this song and Wiz Kalifa. Strong poetic devices permeate throughout Macklemore's song
Otherside for example he uses allusions, repetition and end rhyme. An example of a poetic device
that Macklemore uses in this song is allusion. One allusion Macklemore uses is "Groundhog Day

He is also saying to keep him on this high of making his music instead of using drugs to get high.
Macklemore uses repetition in his songs to help emphasize what he is talking about. One other
poetic device that Macklemore uses in his song is end rhyme. One form of end rhyme in his song
would be, "there's no way to glorify this pavement/ syrup, Percocet, hit an eight a day will leave you
broke depressed and emotionally vacant,"(ll.45–46). The rhyme in this line would be pavement and
vacant which is also a forced rhyme. He also states that if you become addicted to drugs you can go
broke, go into a type of depression and become emotionally vacant in other words destroy you.
Another use of end rhyme in this song would be, "surprise, you know the drill/ trapped in a box, to
climb record sales/ follow the formula violence, drugs and sex sells/ so we try to sound like
someone else"(ll.40–43). In this line the words that would rhyme would be sales, sells, and else.
Macklemore is also stating the fakeness of today's rappers who tend to rap about drugs and things
they haven't done when they should be rapping about their lives and struggles they have been
through. Macklemore uses end rhyme to tie in certain lines that should be read together. Media can
really affect how someone thinks or looks at drugs and Macklemore helps explain this trough this
song by using allusions, repetitions, and end rhyme. This also applies to my life by

The Hockey Players Of Gretzky
From the moment Wayne Gretzky strapped on his first pair of skates at the age of two, he has been
known as one of the best players ever to play in the National Hockey League and is known
worldwide. Like many other professional hockey players, Gretzky was born in Canada, Ontario,
Canada on January 26, 1961. At six years old, he was already playing hockey with older kids and
when he played in peewee, he dominated. His final year of peewee, he scored an astonishing 378
goals. As Gretzky grew up, he continued to train and become one of the best in Canada for his age
and also one of the best worldwide. After finishing his last season in mediocre competition, he was

combined total of 2,857 points. Most people know Gretzky for his years in Edmonton and Los
Angeles, but he was very influential in every city he played in, captaining all four teams he played
on, a very impressive feat. However, he was only captain of the Rangers when the full–time captain,
Mark Messier was suspended. Gretzky's +/– rating is also very impressive, a +518 rating for his
whole NHL year. His +/– rating is one of the best all time. Gretzky's stats not only show he could
play by himself, but he was also a team player. Gretzky did not have the greatest success in the
Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he still did win a few rings. He reached the playoffs sixteen times, and
made it to the playoffs at least once with the four teams he played for. However, he only won
Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers and he did that four times in five years: 1983–84, 1984–85,
and 1986–87,1987–88. Though Gretzky would have liked to win some more Cups, he is happy to be
sitting at home with four rings on his fingers. Wayne Gretzky holds many records in the NHL and it
is very unlikely most of his records will be broken anytime soon. He holds or shares 61 NHL
records and there is a very high chance twenty five of those will never be broken. For examples,
career points, career goals, and career assists has a

Dr Wayne Dyer Analysis
A few days ago we lost a great teacher, Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of personally meeting Dr. Dyer, yet from reading his books
and listening to his interviews and talks, it felt like I knew him, too.
The stories about the sweet little boy in foster care, who always tried to cheer everyone up both
broke my heart and made me smile. His message gave hope, and strength to many.
I recall the story of a man who'd rented a motel room to commit suicide, and when he turned on the
TV to help muffle the sound of the gun shot, Wayne's TV special on PBS came on.The man stopped
and listened. By the end of the program, he'd changed his mind about taking his own life.
There are countless stories of people whose lives were bettered because of Wayne.
His deep warm voice, his crisp sense of humor, his kindness– one couldn't help falling under his
spell after listening to him speak.
The great author, and a personal friend of Dr. Dyer's, Anita Moorjani wrote these beautiful words
about his passing: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

John Ford’s acclaimed film The Man Who Shot Liberty...
John Ford's acclaimed film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) is well–known among
cinema buffs and historians to have emerged out of a brutal, often contentious process. Tension
between the lead actors, as well as tension between the actors and the director, spawned some of the
best behind the scenes stories of on–set rivalry and outright pettiness that still circulate in an
industry that is primarily built on controversy and rumor. The film itself must be regarded as a
masterpiece. This assessment is due in part to the brilliant performances by the cast and also in part
to an elegant, carefully crafted script. That said; one of the main reasons that the film distinguishes
itself above many of ford's other brilliant films is due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This image is itself, an indication that the film intends to deal with a clash of ages or civilizations
within the context of American history. The train station and train are symbols for the conquering of
the West and the industrialization of America. In other words, the film expresses important ideas
about the age–old theme of progress versus tradition, as well as society versus the individual. The
central question of the film is whether or not the kind of frontier justice of the West, which was built
on gun–fighting and local law enforcement, was adaptable to the modern age. The character of
Ransom "Ranse" Stoddard (James Stewart) symbolizes the transition of American society by
earning his fame as a politician. The true frontiersman, Tom Doniphon (John Wayne), suffers a
drastically different fate. Despite being the man who actually shot Liberty Valance, Doniphon
remains unknown to fame. This is Ford's way of communicating to the audience that those who are
in power in our society are often in power through no power of their own. Also that the true spirit of
America resides in the common man, rather than in the man who is celebrated and attains social
power and influence.
Given these facts, the film can be seen as a cautionary tale considering the present–day
homogenization of culture. With an increase in social conformity comes a decrease in personal
morality. This is shown by the

The Searchers Movie Essay
The Film The Searchers by John Ford tells an emotionally complex story of hate–ridden quest and
also explores the themes of racial prejudice. It gives you a first–hand look of the origin and meaning
of Racial Hatred and Ethan and Scar are used to portray and symbolize that. Ethan also harbors a
bitter hatred of Indians (though he knows their lore and language well). Ethan's racism and fear of
miscegenation manifest themselves so often that a couple of examples of him at his most vindictive

TAKE ACTION! NO FEAR!!
Brendan Francis once said, "Many of our fears are tissue paper thin, and a single courageous step
would carry us clear through them." So many people are held back by fear. Fear is nothing more
than a thought. Fear is meant to hold you back. Fear makes us uncomfortable with trying something
"outside the box." We seem to place limitations on ourselves, afraid of both the possible and the
impossible.
Why is this? In a few words, fear of failure, rejection, and what others might think of us. We need to
overcome these mental blocks, busting right through them. There is freedom found in "the box of

Analysis Of Ralph Waldo Emerson And Wayne Dyer
Imagine your childhood without one of your parental figures. A difficult childhood shapes one's
beliefs and how one views the world. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Wayne Dyer have had impactful
hardships early in their life, including growing up without a father figure. This increased their
maturity levels and helped develop their insightful, transcendental beliefs. Both of them shared their
passionate beliefs in their writings, exposing people to different perspectives. Wayne Dyer has
numerous beliefs that are portrayed in his book "Incredible you", these perceptions align with
Emerson's transcendentalist beliefs. Emerson would concur with Dyer's inspirational book for
children, "Incredible You". Dyer's father left his family when he was young, resulting in Dyer being
in an orphanage for the first ten years of his life. When he grew up, he married three times but none
of them worked out. Emerson also had a difficult childhood, including his father dying when
Emerson was young. These meaningful life events had an immense impact on Emerson and Dyer's
beliefs. Perhaps in the result of losing their father forced both to mature quickly and form advance
perspectives. Since they had similar backgrounds, this could explain why they had similar theories.
Both of the authors believed in nonconformity, not changing who you are to fit society. Emerson
quotes, "What I must do, is all that concerns me, not what the people think." ("Self Reliance" 552)

The Meaning Of Hip Hop Music
Historically black music has been expressed through hip hop for decades. As an African
American culture we express it for emotion, oppression, and feeling to get a point across. Hip hop
music has changed tremendously over the years. Over the last ten years, hip hop has evolved into
rap as shown by the style and subject of the lyrics or words. Many people ask the question, Is hip
hop dead? Others ask does it have meaning? The lyrical style and meaning of hip hop music is very
different from what it was before. Many people compare old music such as tupac, bigge, and Eazy E
to new music and base new music off of them. They also compare old djs such as Dr.Dre, Fatboy
slim, and carl cox to new ones as well.
The relativity of word usage from the past to the present is very different in many ways. For
example, before any "rap" became "rap" hip hop had to be born. The difference between hip hop and
rap are very different. Hip hop is real feeling, real emotion. It has a meaning in its words and it
shows the listeners and hearers (mostly African Americans) have a voice. The minorities need to
have a voice and with hip hop they can. Through beat or through lyrics. Now onto rap, with rap in
today's time is the next step. It doesn't really have a meaning, nowadays all people rap about is guns,
money, girls, sex, and power. There is either little or no meaning to the song's lyrics. Here's an
excerpt of what I mean.

How Does Rap Music Affect Women
How does rap music and music videos today negatively portray women?
Rap has changed the faces of women in the community from a more positive image to a more
negative one. It is focused more on women's bodies and not their intellect. Rap music portrays
women by creating impossible beauty standards, dehumanizing women and making women look
inferior in the male's eye.
Rap music and videos portray women negatively by creating impossible beauty standards. When
watching videos such as Sir Mix A Lot's "Baby Got Back, all than is seen are skinny women with
big breasts or big butts. When listening to songs such as Tip Drill by Nelly, Nelly raps "I said it must
be the ass cause it ain't ya face". These lyrics are stating that he is not attracted to her face but the
women's butt indstead. If you were to ask these artists why they talk about ... Show more content on

In music videos, such as Lollipop by Lil Wayne and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke women are used
as "eye candy" to the male and possibly some female viewers. In an article written by Erin Aubry
some high school students where asked if rap music disrespected women. One student stated that
"Women do things for the video that they didn't have to do if they didn't want." (Aubry, 2015).
Although this may be true, the directors of the videos do not have to put those women in those
clothes. The main reason that women are put in the video is to attract viewers. Most male and some
female viewers watch music videos to look at the women who can also be known as "video vixens".
Another example of this is the song "Birthday Song" by 2 Chainz. The video primarily focuses on
the female's body parts and pays attention only to her body parts. The song only focuses on the
female's physical feature and not on anything else. Women are used simply for pleasure in these
music videos. They are not put in these videos because the artist thought that the woman simply had

Essay on Western Movies Since 1960
A NOT–SO–ACCURATE prophet once wrote, "As recently as 1972, there were a tremendous
number of quality Westerns being made . . . and since there seems to be a ten–year cycle in Western
movie making, I'd say we'll see more in about 1982." 1 In 1982 only two Westerns were
released, and neither was exactly a major success. Barbarosa, starring Willie Nelson, drew some
respectable reviews–and some very damaging ones–but nobody went to see the film. The Ballad of
Gregorio Cortez appeared first on PBS television, then later went into general release. Today the
Western seems to be deader than the California Med–fly. Critics and aficionados of the form can
only hear, as with Arnold's sea of faith, its long receding roar.

? Obviously it couldn't. For all subsequent generations, then, the Western has to be rediscovered,
like some store of ancient literature one studies in school.
Reviewing the last twenty–five years of the Western, 1960–1985, is salutary for both aficionados
and novices. The sixties began with a great film done in the sparest, most austere classical manner,
Budd Boetticher's Comanche Station (1960). The last of the Renown cycle of seven films that
Boetticher made with Randolph Scott, Comanche Station reduces the elements of the journey
Western to create one of its purest expressions ever. Scott is an aging knight, a man "always
alone in Comanche country," who, reminiscent of John Wayne's searcher, hunts endlessly for
his wife, taken ten years previously by the Comanches. He buys a woman out of captivity–not his
wife, of course, whom he will never find–and escorts her back to her husband. The journey pits him
against a charming, evil adversary (Claude Akins), and the trip becomes the occasion for a moral
dialectic of the kind for which the Western seems the perfect vehicle. In the end the villain adopts
Scott's code, dying honorably, and Scott delivers the wife to her husband. He turns out to be a blind
man, a fact that surprises and pleases because all through the film we have worried, along with
Scott, about what kind of man would leave such a woman to another's care. It is a great film, and
anybody wanting to know what the old–time Western was

The Meaning Of Hip Hop Music
Hip hop music and how it's changed
Historically black music has been expressed through hip hop for decades. As an African American
culture we express it for emotion, oppression, and feeling to get a point across. Hip hop music has
changed tremendously over the years. Over the last ten years, hip hop has evolved into rap as shown
by the style and subject of the lyrics or words. Many people ask the question, Is hip hop dead?
Others ask does it have meaning? The lyrical style and meaning of hip hop music is very different
from what it was before. Many people compare old music such as tupac, bigge, and Eazy E to new
music and base new music off of them. They also compare old djs such as Dr.Dre, Fatboy slim, and
carl cox to new ones as well. The relativity of word usage from the past to the present is very
different in many ways. For example, before any "rap" became "rap" hip hop had to be born. The
difference between hip hop and rap are very different. Hip hop is real feeling, real emotion. It has a
meaning in its words and it shows the listeners and hearers (mostly African Americans) have a

Essay About My Speech

  • 1. Essay About My Speech The first time I realized I had a speech impediment I was 5 years old. My cousins and I were sitting on the back porch of my grandmother's house, on a hot summer afternoon in August. We were talking about how pretty the flowers looked in my grandmother's backyard, when I said, "I just love lellow flowers." As soon as that statement left my mouth, everyone laughed at me. I remember thinking, "Why are they all laughing at me?" They asked me to say it again, and I said "lellow." Until they told me I was saying it wrong, I never knew. My cousins laughing at me continuously embarrassed me for the way I spoke. Whenever you are around a person for so long, you get used to the way they act and speak. When the school called my mother while I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Allie, don't make fun of your little sister like that. She cannot help it," Mother says. That never stopped Allie. She started to mimic me any time I did not say a word correctly. Whenever she would do it, I would feel embarrassed and frustrated. We learned later my kindergarten year that I could not pronounce R, S, and T sounds. Mrs. Reeves had to completely re–teach me how to say those sounds. It took an insane amount of work for me to re–learn those sounds. I would work every day at school and at home with my parents. Knowing I had a speech problem made me never want to speak out loud in front people. Whenever we would have to read out loud in class, my teacher would help me pronounce the words. The teacher would help me, but I would cry because I could not pronounce the words. My classmates would get aggravated any time I had to read out loud because they knew I could not say the words correctly. I was embarrassed and never wanted to read in front of the class. However, one thing I never had a problem doing was speaking in front of my friends. They knew I had a problem speaking, but they never seemed to mind. They would help me whenever I needed a few words. They never judged me for my speech impediment. My friends were actually jealous because I was the only one to get out of class. They would tell me, "Gosh, you are so lucky to get out of class every day during Language." Or, "How cool would it be if we went to speech ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Analysis John Ford's The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) centers around the story of infamous bandit Liberty Valance's death. Ransom Stoddard (James Stewart) reveals the little known fact that it was not he, the new–to–the West lawyer, but Western gunslinger Tom Doniphon (John Wayne) who shot Valance. A newspaper editor decides to leave Ransom's account unpublicized. He explains, "This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." From a historical perspective, this statement can be read as exhibited awareness of the West's mythification. In this essay, I will show how the film additionally less explicitly draws attention to the mythification of the West by representing elements of the West differently than how characters imagine them. Because the film's narrative is conveyed as a frame tale, action takes place in two different time periods. The opening scene mainly consists of desolate land with mountains in the background. As train a train advances across the frame from right to left, it enters the foreground. The vehicle serves two functions. Firstly, it brings Ransom and his wife, Hallie, to the Western town of Shinbone so that they may attend Tom's wake. Mourning Tom provides the basis for the framing narrative. Ransom initiates an embedded story, the tale of Liberty Valance's downfall, while talking to reporters in Shinbone. The train's second, more symbolic function is its role as a sign of modernity. Motivational Leader Analysis While I don't claim to be (anywhere near) the best Personal Development Speaker in the world, if you were to Google the search term Motivational Speaker you would typically find that my name usually comes out somewhere near the very top of the list of about two million matches. Now, let me quickly add that this fact has pretty much nothing to do with my speaking skills or my profile, and everything to do with Johnnie's ability to do what he does with those amazing tech skills of his. I don't really understand how he does it, but I do know that he's good and I'm glad he's on my team. The two most obvious consequences of this Google ranking are: a) I get a bunch of speaking work (nice). Thanks Baldy. b) I get a bunch of emails from people who ... Lose the rock star mindset and patiently, methodically and consciously work at becoming a quality speaker. 12. Be clear and certain about what you want to share. What are your key messages? I have been in the Children's Chorus of Crane (CCC), played piano, and been in the Clarkson Golden Knotes a cappella group. From all of these musical experiences, I learned to become a better musician. I learned that the benefit of producing music outweighs the time and dedication I must put into it. I have experienced the satisfaction of performing music for other's enjoyment. These are talents I will be able to take with me forever. This question is one that is very complex to answer, and in order to answer it, I must delve into my past, as well as look into my future aspirations. My life hasn't consisted of numerous significant events that have shaped my life, but rather countless choices over the years that I have made to get me to where I am, and who I am today. After reading My Freshman Year, and viewing the film, Neuland, the outlook that I have of myself and on my life has drastically changed. My Freshman Year revealed to me how much my life has changed since I came to college, and all the choices that I have subconsciously made that have greatly impacted my life, even if I don't often realize it. Neuland has helped me become more appreciative of the life that I've had, as well as allow me to grasp some of the traumatic issues that others have to go through, which further, makes me want to find ways to help those people through their issues in the future. These two media have impacted my interpretations of the world and of myself, but at the same time, haven't completely changed who I am. So, who exactly am I? The answer to "Who I am" sensibly starts at my birth. On June 15, 1998 at approximately 4:05 in the morning in Albany, New York, I was born. The next few years are obviously absent from my mind because I was too young to comprehend the world around me. The song includes his mother talking about his childhood in–between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his life up until he formed the persona that is Jay–Z. Although "December 4th" is thought to have been about the rappers's presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career, instead, the "December 4th" is about the artist 's transition from Shawn Carter to Jay–Z. He tells the story, not of the end, but of the beginning of Jay–Z and he does this by separating himself from his former self, Shawn Carter; examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay–Z was born and continues to live. This song is very indicative of a speaker who is narrating and advising his former self and showing the importance of accepting and how one came to be. The song begins almost as a confessional, telling his audience about the decisions and choices he made leading up to the creation of 'Jay–Z'. When he says, "I'm leaving after this song/ So you ain't gotta feel no way about Jay so long/ At least let me tell you why I'm this way," the rapper is letting his audience know that this song is about his life and the aspects of his upbringing that lead him to his present life as Jay–Z. Almost every one in the story wonder is kind so I am going to give you some example for different characters. Dances With Wolves, directed by Kevin Costner, and The Searchers, directed by John Ford, looks into the fabric of this country's past. The media has created a false image of the relationship between Native Americans and White men to suppress the cruel and unfortunate reality. Both directors wanted to contradict these stereotypes, but due to the time period the films were created, only one film was successful. Unlike The Searchers, Dancing With Wolves presents a truly realistic representation of Native Americans. Both Dances With Wolves and The Searchers protagonists, Dunbar and Ethan, embark on a journey and evolve in different ways. The purpose of Dunbar's journey is to find who he is. In this depiction, the Native Americans lure the men away from their homes, savagely kill their families, and commit wrong. It is the white men who have to painstakingly hunt down the Indians to reinstate justice, righting the wrongs that have been done. Native Americans are depicted as a demonizing form of "the other," a force to which fear and repression can be the only responses. Costner's work almost inverts this. Both films critique White racism and violence. Dunbar is guilty of the Whites and realizes that they are involved in a system where the Native culture, habitats, and populations are being destroyed. To purge his overwhelming sense of guilt, he switches sides and fights against his old comrades. White society is the demon while the Native Americans are apotheosized. In The Searchers, Ford presented Ethan not as the hero but almost as a subtle villain, a racist that embarks on a fixated and zealous mission that is fuelled by his hatred of Native Americans. Ford uses Ethan to depict the wrong actions of Whites. Kevin Costner and John Ford both use the Natives language in their films. The big difference is the effort of the directors. Costner uses sub–titles and actual Native language unlike Ford. Ford does not use the proper language for the Comanche. In beginning of Dances With Wolves, there is not as much dialogue between Dunbar and Natives, but the body language is significant along with other forms of symbolic communication used to make the story ... • 44. Narrative Structure Of Unforgiven Almost all movies have characteristics that categorize them in two or more genres. A great example of this being Unforgiven. The film's dark and cynical characters occasionally resemble that of a film noir while its overall narrative structure depicts itself as a classical western style film. While there is an argument to call Unforgiven a film noir, it is hard to deny the idea that the film is mainly a film of the western genre. The basis of this idea, mostly relies on the portrayal of the lead protagonist, and the end of the film. While it would be easy to use setting, lighting, camera angles, etc to manifest the idea, it would not do it justice. By using these narrative tropes, it becomes coherent that Unforgiven is just another well–made film that uses the structure of a western to construct its plot. Clint Eastwood's character, William, is a perfect example of the western classic hero. For example, the character is unknown to both the viewer and to the society in the film. In The Structure of The Western Film, the author describes the second similarity found in a western film as "The hero is a stranger to this society" (41). One of the first scenes in Unforgiven shows William living in a small home accompanied by his kids far away from the rest of civilization. Despite this they are both related in that they are both featuring one specific feature for their products, have a lighthearted tone, a central focus, and a quick pace. Making each one entertaining to watch, even multiple times. Both commercials are overall good and when looking at the similarities, these are what make the commercials even more so. Apple's commercial simply called, "Barbers," begins with the ad showing a barbershop from the outside, and quickly goes to the inside where a man is getting his hair cut. While another guy is sitting in one of the chairs he decides to take out his iPhone to take a picture once the man is done. The barber then decides to put this picture on the window of the shop. Media informs and influences us, as well as it impacts our perception, knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about certain things that take place. June 12, 2016 was a tragic night at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Omar Mateen, a 29–year–old security guard, initiated a terrorist attack, killing 49 people and wounding 53. He used an AR–15–style rifle and a handgun to carry out the attack. The hate crime took place just shortly before the club was supposed to close. When people started hearing bullets being shot, they started to hide under the bar, on the ground of the dance floor, in the bathrooms, looking for exits wherever they could. This is one great example of a tragic occurrence that received a great amount of coverage worldwide, and it sparked a large amount of interest, reaction, and attention from people. I want to discuss five articles specifically, published within a week 's time of each other, that are written with different intentions for different audiences. The first of the five articles would be an article published by CNN on June 13, 2016 at 11:05am, "Orlando shooting: 49 killed, shooter pledged ISIS allegiance." This article is very similar in context to an article published by NPR also on June 13, 2016 at 7:29am, "Orlando 's Deadly Mass Shooting: What We Know Monday." Both articles had the same availability of resources for the most part, since they were published the day after the shooting, only hours apart. The introductions are written in the ... Macklemore is saying that people think that they will not die from doing drugs. In this song Macklemore is stating that drugs can be really addictive also he states that drugs can really mess you up and how media influences you to do drugs, for example rappers like Lil Wayne which he talks about in this song and Wiz Kalifa. Strong poetic devices permeate throughout Macklemore's song Otherside for example he uses allusions, repetition and end rhyme. An example of a poetic device that Macklemore uses in this song is allusion. One allusion Macklemore uses is "Groundhog Day life repeat each time"(l.59). One form of end rhyme in his song would be, "there's no way to glorify this pavement/ syrup, Percocet, hit an eight a day will leave you broke depressed and emotionally vacant,"(ll.45–46). The rhyme in this line would be pavement and vacant which is also a forced rhyme. He also states that if you become addicted to drugs you can go broke, go into a type of depression and become emotionally vacant in other words destroy you. Another use of end rhyme in this song would be, "surprise, you know the drill/ trapped in a box, to climb record sales/ follow the formula violence, drugs and sex sells/ so we try to sound like someone else"(ll.40–43). In this line the words that would rhyme would be sales, sells, and else. Macklemore is also stating the fakeness of today's rappers who tend to rap about drugs and things they haven't done when they should be rapping about their lives and struggles they have been through. Macklemore uses end rhyme to tie in certain lines that should be read together. Media can really affect how someone thinks or looks at drugs and Macklemore helps explain this trough this song by using allusions, repetitions, and end rhyme. This also applies to my life by ... The Hockey Players Of Gretzky From the moment Wayne Gretzky strapped on his first pair of skates at the age of two, he has been known as one of the best players ever to play in the National Hockey League and is known worldwide. Like many other professional hockey players, Gretzky was born in Canada, Ontario, Canada on January 26, 1961. At six years old, he was already playing hockey with older kids and when he played in peewee, he dominated. His final year of peewee, he scored an astonishing 378 goals. As Gretzky grew up, he continued to train and become one of the best in Canada for his age and also one of the best worldwide. Throughout his career in the NHL, Gretzky scored 894 goals, picked up 1,963 assists for a combined total of 2,857 points. Most people know Gretzky for his years in Edmonton and Los Angeles, but he was very influential in every city he played in, captaining all four teams he played on, a very impressive feat. However, he was only captain of the Rangers when the full–time captain, Mark Messier was suspended. Gretzky's +/– rating is also very impressive, a +518 rating for his whole NHL year. His +/– rating is one of the best all time. Gretzky's stats not only show he could play by himself, but he was also a team player. Gretzky did not have the greatest success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he still did win a few rings. He reached the playoffs sixteen times, and made it to the playoffs at least once with the four teams he played for. However, he only won Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers and he did that four times in five years: 1983–84, 1984–85, and 1986–87,1987–88. Though Gretzky would have liked to win some more Cups, he is happy to be sitting at home with four rings on his fingers. Wayne Gretzky holds many records in the NHL and it is very unlikely most of his records will be broken anytime soon. He holds or shares 61 NHL records and there is a very high chance twenty five of those will never be broken. For examples, career points, career goals, and career assists has a ... • 54. Dr Wayne Dyer Analysis A few days ago we lost a great teacher, Dr. Wayne Dyer. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of personally meeting Dr. Dyer, yet from reading his books and listening to his interviews and talks, it felt like I knew him, too. The stories about the sweet little boy in foster care, who always tried to cheer everyone up both broke my heart and made me smile. His message gave hope, and strength to many. I recall the story of a man who'd rented a motel room to commit suicide, and when he turned on the TV to help muffle the sound of the gun shot, Wayne's TV special on PBS came on.The man stopped and listened. By the end of the program, he'd changed his mind about taking his own life. There are countless stories of people whose lives were bettered because of Wayne. • 56. John Ford’s acclaimed film The Man Who Shot Liberty... John Ford's acclaimed film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) is well–known among cinema buffs and historians to have emerged out of a brutal, often contentious process. Tension between the lead actors, as well as tension between the actors and the director, spawned some of the best behind the scenes stories of on–set rivalry and outright pettiness that still circulate in an industry that is primarily built on controversy and rumor. The film itself must be regarded as a masterpiece. This assessment is due in part to the brilliant performances by the cast and also in part to an elegant, carefully crafted script. That said; one of the main reasons that the film distinguishes itself above many of ford's other brilliant films is due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This image is itself, an indication that the film intends to deal with a clash of ages or civilizations within the context of American history. The train station and train are symbols for the conquering of the West and the industrialization of America. In other words, the film expresses important ideas about the age–old theme of progress versus tradition, as well as society versus the individual. The central question of the film is whether or not the kind of frontier justice of the West, which was built on gun–fighting and local law enforcement, was adaptable to the modern age. The character of Ransom "Ranse" Stoddard (James Stewart) symbolizes the transition of American society by earning his fame as a politician. The true frontiersman, Tom Doniphon (John Wayne), suffers a drastically different fate. Despite being the man who actually shot Liberty Valance, Doniphon remains unknown to fame. This is Ford's way of communicating to the audience that those who are in power in our society are often in power through no power of their own. Also that the true spirit of America resides in the common man, rather than in the man who is celebrated and attains social power and influence. Given these facts, the film can be seen as a cautionary tale considering the present–day homogenization of culture. With an increase in social conformity comes a decrease in personal morality. It gives you a first–hand look of the origin and meaning of Racial Hatred and Ethan and Scar are used to portray and symbolize that. The accusation is clear: Scar learned English from his white female, sexual captive, Debbie. A few moments later, Scar returns the taunt, "You speak good Comanche; someone teach you?" Ralph Waldo Emerson and Wayne Dyer have had impactful hardships early in their life, including growing up without a father figure. This increased their maturity levels and helped develop their insightful, transcendental beliefs. Both of them shared their passionate beliefs in their writings, exposing people to different perspectives. Wayne Dyer has numerous beliefs that are portrayed in his book "Incredible you", these perceptions align with Emerson's transcendentalist beliefs. Emerson would concur with Dyer's inspirational book for children, "Incredible You". Dyer's father left his family when he was young, resulting in Dyer being in an orphanage for the first ten years of his life. When he grew up, he married three times but none of them worked out. Emerson also had a difficult childhood, including his father dying when Emerson was young. These meaningful life events had an immense impact on Emerson and Dyer's beliefs. Perhaps in the result of losing their father forced both to mature quickly and form advance perspectives. Since they had similar backgrounds, this could explain why they had similar theories. Essay on Western Movies Since 1960 A NOT–SO–ACCURATE prophet once wrote, "As recently as 1972, there were a tremendous number of quality Westerns being made . . . and since there seems to be a ten–year cycle in Western movie making, I'd say we'll see more in about 1982." 1 In 1982 only two Westerns were released, and neither was exactly a major success. Barbarosa, starring Willie Nelson, drew some respectable reviews–and some very damaging ones–but nobody went to see the film. For all subsequent generations, then, the Western has to be rediscovered, like some store of ancient literature one studies in school. Reviewing the last twenty–five years of the Western, 1960–1985, is salutary for both aficionados and novices. The sixties began with a great film done in the sparest, most austere classical manner, Budd Boetticher's Comanche Station (1960). The last of the Renown cycle of seven films that Boetticher made with Randolph Scott, Comanche Station reduces the elements of the journey Western to create one of its purest expressions ever. Scott is an aging knight, a man "always alone in Comanche country," who, reminiscent of John Wayne's searcher, hunts endlessly for his wife, taken ten years previously by the Comanches. He buys a woman out of captivity–not his wife, of course, whom he will never find–and escorts her back to her husband. The journey pits him against a charming, evil adversary (Claude Akins), and the trip becomes the occasion for a moral dialectic of the kind for which the Western seems the perfect vehicle. In the end the villain adopts Scott's code, dying honorably, and Scott delivers the wife to her husband. He turns out to be a blind man, a fact that surprises and pleases because all through the film we have worried, along with Scott, about what kind of man would leave such a woman to another's care.
