2. JESSICA
YOUNGHey y’all! I am currently working on
getting my BSN. I’m a 30 year old
cancer, with 2 kids and one on the
way. My kids are Gavin who is 10;
and Gracyn who is 8.
They keep me pretty busy, Gavin
plays basketball and baseball.
Gracyn plays basketball and does
gymnastics. They both show cows,
and they are very active at church.
I have a little boy on the way who
is due any time now.
In my free time I enjoy sleeping.
3. BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN
THE WORLD➤ Voting is the only way to spark change.
➤ I feel like the federal government has become too powerful,
politicians are making decisions for Texas that live in New
York. We live in two completely different cultures. I want
Texans making decisions for Texans.
➤ I honestly can not think of one thing that I would keep
completely the same. I think that our government needs a
complete overhaul.
4. WHAT I LEARNED
➤ I really enjoyed working on the
death penalty paper, the
research for that was very
interesting.
➤ I also had no idea that Texas
politicians were paid so little. I
appreciate that because I feel
like that makes our state less
likely to have professional
politicians.
5. THE WALL
➤ I think that the boarder wall will
be an issue for many years to
come. I personally am pro-
wall. I think that it is sad that
we have got to the point where
we need a wall, but if you are
going to come to this country it
should be legally. No one is
above the law, if you want to
be in our country, then you
have to follow our laws.
6. GOOD LESSONS
LEARNED➤ I have never really participated in
voting for Texas state or local
politics, I only voted for the
presidential elections. After
taking this class I understand
why it is so important to vote on
the smaller levels. Honestly it is
probably more important to vote
at the state level than federal.
➤ The biggest lesson I learned was
to do your own research, don’t
just read something on facebook
and think it’s the truth. Educate
yourself, and vote. You can’t
complain if you don’t participate.
