4. Abortion seems to be one of the most talked about and
controversial topics in social media right now. In my
opinion, they should be legal. I am not sure how the
government, state or federal can tell a women what to do
with her body. I however, do not think it should be used as
a form of birth-control. There are certain circumstances that
can warrant an abortion in my opinion. Rape, unplanned
pregnancy for teens, or sick babies are just a few that come
to mind. Laws of how far along you can be seem fair, but
that is it. This topic is mixing religion, morals and politics
which I feel should never be mixed because it will never be
agreed upon
5. After completing this course, I feel that main thing I have realized is Texas needs to step up in voting. I
learned that we have the lowest voter turnout of any other state. We need to educate our children and
family on the importance of just one vote. That one vote turns into one family and so much more. It is
important to have an opinion and get people in office that you personally feel will do a good job and
provide the things that are needed to your community and state and for the whole United States. This
effects not just our state, but the whole government. Not having an opinion or vote shows that you
don’t care. This day and age we all should vote. There is to much going on in the world not to try to
make a difference.
6. The main things that I have learned in this class
A) Vote- if you don’t vote, you can’t make a difference and you have no right to
voice an opinion at that point.
B) Texas has a sense of pride that most states don’t seem to have. We have
always stuck to our roots, and not much can change that.
C) It was nice to learn that even though we have a “welfare” problem, it is not as
bad a most other states. I was surprised to learn we were not in the top for
TANF and Food Stamp benefits.
