Lanaija Woodfolk is a psychology major who feels indifferent about politics and does not plan to vote. She learned that Spain was the first European country to claim Texas in 1519, though their settlements were later abandoned. Woodfolk believes more funding should be allocated to school systems to provide youth resources to become productive members of society. However, she does not think Texas significantly influences federal decision making due to separation of powers and does not find her political science class relevant to her future education goals.

What Motivate You to Become an Active
Participant in our Political System?
Ever since I have been the legal age to vote, I have never voted.
I don’t associate with a particular political system; hence why I
haven't voted. Additionally, I don't see that changing in the
upcoming future.

What Did You Learn that Surprised You
in the Texas Government Processes?
Spain was the first of the advanced European countries to make
a case for the domain of Texas, as soon as 1519
Spanish Texas included just a little piece of the present state
Spain's cases were to a great extent deserted after overviews
neglected to track down incredible fortunes

Important Political Issue
One issue I find to be most important is providing additional
funds to the school systems. As most can agree, the school
systems is one of the most influential structures that we have in
our society today. Be that as it may, we should be dedicating
more resources and money in order to provide the youth with the
essentials they need to move forward and become a high
functioning member of society.

What role do you believe Texas plays in
influencing federal decision making?
Texas doesn't play a big role in decision making because certain
powers are designated to the states. Furthermore, they aren't
allowed to go out of their jurisdiction when making decisions. As
for health care, Texas doesn't believe the government should be
involved at all. It should be only the people's choice.

Lessons That You Will Take With You
There is nothing in the class that I found to be essential to my
major or my life in general. I only took this class because it was
a requirement for my basics. With that in mind, I will not need
any of this information when I plan to further my education at the
University of Texas in Denton.
