1. June 2011 Newsletter
Summer looks like it may actually be here! As the rain hopefully goes away and summer is upon us I am making
the adjustment to my new role of “director”. You will be seeing Robin more in the classroom as she will be
assisting us through the change and working three days a week. I look forward to this new adventure and the
great things that are ahead for Kendal Early Learning Center. Out of all the centers I have worked with and for,
Kendal is the greatest as we are constantly striving to learn, improve, and provide quality on a daily basis. I feel
so blessed to be a part of Kendal and the great opportunities we have to educate your child! ~ Jeni Hoover

2. Toddlers & Young 3’s News:
This month we are learning and exploring the world of bugs and insects.
Yesterday we went for a “bug hunt” and the children loved finding bugs around
Kendal. As we continue to improve our classroom to be a toddler/preschool
classroom, we have made some matching games and short path games to go with
our themes for the month. These games are great for enhancing math, science,
motor, and cognitive skills through the children’s participation. We look forward to
the month of June being a great time to spend outdoors using our motor skills and
exploring throughout the Kendal community. (That is, as long as the rain does not
continue!)
This past month the children have enjoyed their first field trip to the park
with the preschoolers! We look forward to adding some field trips to our June
calendar and taking “bus rides”, as the children call them.
If you have not signed up for conferences please take time to do this soon
as we want to talk with you about the educational growth we’ve seen in your child.
Have a great month,
Jeni, Julie & Robin
Preschool News:
June is here, it’s finally drying up, and we are all excited to finally play
outside. We have been very busy learning about birds, bugs, and all things
outdoors. The children really enjoyed going on a bug hunt in the woods and even
saw a couple of snakes. They were super excited! We also took a field trip to
Carlisle Reservation with the Toddlers/ Young 3’s. The children loved having the
younger group with us and loved seeing two baby owls. We are working on
learning letter recognition and the sounds that the letters make. Also during large
group in the morning we are introducing sight words. We are only doing a word or
two at a time, just to get them familiarized with recognizing words in print. By
doing this we are helping prepare the children for their adventures in
Kindergarten.
We welcomed a new friend into the classroom! Tanesha is joining our
group. She is the big sister of Miracle from the Toddlers/Young 3’s. She is having
a great time getting to know her new friends and teachers. Be sure to welcome her
to the classroom.
Have a great month!
Sara and Karen
