                                    Geography Bee Buzz
Congratulations to Colten Mack, our Sand Point School and AEB School District, Geography
Bee winner, has officially been notified by the National Geographic Society that he has
passed his written test as one of Alaska's top 100 geography bee participants. He is,
therefore, one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2010 Alaska Geographic Bee,
sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. This bee will be held in Anchorage at the Egan
Center on Friday, April 9, 2010. If he wins at the state level, Mr. Mack has the opportunity
to win $100, the National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World, and a trip to
Washington D.C., where he will have the opportunity to represent Alaska in the national
finals at the National Geographic Society headquarters, May 25-26, 2010. The first place
winner at the national bee will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, lifetime membership
to the Society, and they will win a all expensed paid trip for themselves and a parent to
travel to the Galapagos Islands. Wish Colten luck and help him keep studying. Enjoy you
world geographic study, books, and travels.

Again, Congratulations Colten. We are all wishing you well in your efforts at State.
