The Controversy Of Recycling
Recycling is always a great idea, but do we really need a law stating what color bin it belongs in. Should we really be monitored on how much we
are recycling? In my opinion, it is our own right to have privacy in our grabage or recycling. I believe that recycling is an amazing way to save our
world from being destroyed down the line. When people recycle, it not only gives the companies the material to burn down the old used materials and
use them over again, but it saves our enviorment from looking trashy or destroyed. Although, there are many ways in changing what item goes where,
what should belong in a landfill, or what should be recycled, but this is not one of them. Our privacy is what is important to alot of people.

Disadvantages Of Recycling
Gift wrapping materials, such as gift wrap, are often non–recyclable (Earth911qtd. in Gift). This is because wrapping paper is often dyed and laminated,
and can contain additives, such as gold and silver coloring, glitter and plastics, and usually has nonrecyclable tape on it (Earth911 qtd. in Gift).
Including too much non–recyclable material in the recycling bin can keep an entire load of material from being recycled, so it is important to only
place accepted items in the recycling bin (Malone). Trying to recycle non–recyclable items can cause more harm to the environment than simply
sending the non–recyclable items to the landfill to begin with. If looking to buy recyclable wrapping paper, it is better to stick with the simple stuff,
like basic craft paper without a shiny coating (Miller). But really, it's better to reuse giftwrap or to avoid it entirely (Malone). This is because making
wrapping paper recyclable is not the most effective solution.
Yes, recycling is often preferable to sending materials straight to the landfill, but recycling has its own demons. A big concern regarding recycling is
the possibility of encouraging over consumption. As award winning environmental journalist Amy Westervelt explains in her essay, "Can Recycling Be
Bad for the Environment", people will ease the guilty they feel for massively over–consuming disposable goods by tossing the used items into their
recycling bins (213). But not everything that's recyclable gets recycled–recycling is

Speech On Recycling
Recycling
If recycling is the future, then we must focus our efforts on reducing negative impacts to our community while protecting our environment. Although
recycling may seem like a modern concept introduced with the environmental movement of the 1970s, it's actually been around for thousands of years.
Prior to the industrial age, society couldn't make goods quickly and cheaply, so practically everyone practiced recycling in some form. When products
can be produced and purchased cheaply, it often makes more economic sense to simply throw away old items and purchase brand new ones. However,
this culture of disposable goods created a number of environmental problems. Through correct methods of recycling, people all over the world could ...

"Gases in the atmosphere, especially water vapor, shield the Earth, preventing the sun's heat from escaping." (Johnson, 2017).
By recycling the United States could eliminate the need to build more landfills and instead of looking for more places to put them, look for ways to
get rid of them. This will also lower the amounts of water pollution and air pollution because landfills are one one of the top 5 causes of pollution
along with factories that are creating the brand new products. Recycling is the process of converting waste into new materials, when the world recycles,
the need goes down for brand new materials to be produced from factories, and the world becomes cleaner and more available for humans and wildlife.
Right at this very minute there are at least 5.25 trillion plastic particles; weighing nearly 270,000 tons, floating in the oceans right now. The World
Economic Forum issued a study that said, "By 2050, there will be so much plastic floating in the ocean it will outweigh all fish life, unless we start to
do something about it." Picking up trash not only protects the environment and keeps our surroundings beautiful, but it can also save wildlife. Plastic
bags and twine can easily trap birds and other smaller animals, hurting or even killing them. National Parks and Forestries, are some of the United
States biggest tourist attractions. More than 100 million

Should Recycling Be Mandatory Recycling?
Over the years threatening environmental issues like global warming and are making countries all over the world put into consideration actions such as
mandatory recycling in order to prevent disasters. The huge amount of garbage produced every day is fulfilling landfills quickly in the past few years,
polluting and contributing to global warming. Recycling is considered a small solution for a big problem as global warming but also can have a huge
impact in our daily life. Besides protecting the environment, mandatory recycling should help reduce pollution, save energy and provide new job
opportunities. Passing a law that makes permanent the practice of recycling in a country like the United States will promote recycling awareness,
preventing a world covered in waste and pollution. Today, many of us might know what recycling is and how good it is for the environment. It helps
to protect our world and has a positive impact in our way of leaving. Pollution is one of the most concerning problems in our society because of the
huge amount of waste produced every day. Recycling is a simple and cheap solution with an enormous impact in the reduction of pollution, using as an
example the incineration of materials such as aluminum that releases toxic gases into to the atmosphere. "The recycling of aluminum saves over 95%
of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore and results in substantially less pollution of air and water" (Hill, 1977). Not incinerating

The Benefits Of Recycling
Due to the global consumer society we live in, the world has no shortage of trash. There are billions of people across the world that purchase, use, and
dispose of products. As a result of the high–volume waste production, there are different options for disposing that waste. The leading options of
disposing trash are recycling and incineration. Recycling renews waste to become reused and redistributed whereas incineration burns waste into
energy. It is significant to choose the correct route of disposing waste to make sure it benefits communities, the economy, and the environment.
Natural resources are finite, so it is necessary to use a disposal process that reduces the raw material production and extends the life of products that
already exist. For this reason, recycling is a great solution. Recycling has become an environmental movement and continues to be a reliable remedy
for the growing mountains of waste on this planet. The overall cost of recycling decreases as the recycling industry grows and people recycle more
frequently and efficiently. According to a study from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, recycling costs $50 per ton while
incineration costs $650 per ton (Seltenrich). Saint John's University stated in their article about myths and facts of recycling that hundreds of
companies like Hewlett Packard, Bank of America, and the U.S. Postal Service have saved millions of dollars through recycling programs

Recycling Case Study : Recycling
Recycling Case Study
Preface
Sustainable development has been a growing concern for the modern day civilization as more people become aware of the fact that our style of
living is simply not sustainable for the environment and the entire planet on a global level. This is very much evident in such things as the ozone layer
depletion, the growing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere and the endangerment of many wildlife species due to loss of habitats. A major
concern is the limited amount of fossil fuels. Most of the plastics that we use are derived from fossil fuels and thus more attention is being drawn into
recycling of plastics.
The aim of this report is to
Introduction
Plastics have invariably grown in terms of production and the function they play in our everyday lives. They are also replacing many applications
where metals were used due to the fact that it has a much lower density and thus offers weight saving advantages. Simple everyday uses of plastic have
also created more demand for plastics over the past 50 years and this has led to more production. The plastic market has grown in size significantly
and in Europe alone accounts for more than 1.4 million people employed with a turnover of 87 billion euros for plastics producers and 202 billion
euro plastic conversion in 2012 (Plastics Europe, 2013).
Figure 1 shows the global production of plastics over the past 50 years and it shows how rapidly plastics have become integrated into society. In 2012,

Recycling Recycling
Every year, $7 billion worth of recyclable materials are sent to landfills in the United States alone. Each community plays a role in contributing to this
number. Unfortunately, if we as the Village of Mundelein are not doing our best to reduce this massive amount of waste, we are partly responsible.
Far too many reusable items end up in the trash in our town. As a student at Mundelein High School, I notice my peers don't seem to realize there is a
difference between the recycling bin and the trash can. Trash ends up in the recyclables and vice versa. Moreover, a recent Lake County study found
that Mundelein was not in the top 10 communities that recycle the most ("Garbage and Recycling Program"). Even worse, it also revealed that
Mundelein's recycling rates between 2014 and 2015 actually decreased–– we moved from 1.72 pounds of trash per person per day to 1.79! There are
multiple reasons for that, including not enough awareness and not implementing a more efficient recycling system.
There are many negative effects sending recycling to the landfills. An obvious consequence is that our environment suffers. The amount of trash sent to
the landfill only keeps increasing. Eventually, there will be no space left in the current landfill, and it will be necessary to dig a new one. Recycling
helps slow down this process and preserve the beauty of the environment in Mundelein. Furthermore, throwing away reusable materials such as plastic
damages our water supply. Harmful substances

Blue Orb Recycling And Recycling Reduction
Executive Summary
Blue Orb Recycling is one of Minnesota's leaders in recycling and waste reduction. The company accepted a diverse arrangement of programs and
incentives to achieve a recycling rate of 37%. While this recycling rate is high, Blue Orb Recycling has adopted a far more enthusiastic goal of 50%,
to meet the goals of the state of Minnesota. Executives have chosen to focus on programs that will enable them to achieve their 50% recycling rate.
Blue Orb Recycling was created to address the growing concern of the increase in waste and the minimal amount of recycling that was taking place.
The typical materials that are derived from the waste that ends up at the Blur Orb plant include various types of metals, plastic, paper and cardboard.
These materials make up a large component of the recycling industry. There are economic benefits that Blue Orb takes advantage of in regards to
recycling rather than letting all the waste go to the landfill. There is a steady increase in the amount of buyers that enables recycling companies to
maintain a steady market growth for the business. We have focused our business towards meeting the demands of the consumer and not solely on the
profits. Although, with the implementation of new programs over the years and the work towards developing new ones, we have been able to retain
customers and gain new ones which drives our gross margins up. Blue Orb Recycling has drafted a strategic plan to meet the needs of the business

Speech On Recycling
So you may be saying to yourself, "Of course! Why wouldn't it be?". Well what if it isn't? What if using green products isn't the best way of keeping
the environment as a whole healthy? I will thoroughly explain the answers to these questions. Based on information I have efficiently gathered, I will
have to say that I believe it is both mandatory, but not making the greatest impact it should. My reason for my opinion is that recycling is crucial when it
comes to keeping environment healthy by reducing pollution and by preventing dangerous and contaminated waste (or at least making it healthy), but
articles have said that it's still regularly more costly for districts to reuse family household waste than to send it to a landfill. Recycling companies are
forced into closing or canceling plans for mostly new technologies. There are many reasons why recycling is making a positive difference on our
environment and even ourselves, but yet there are reasons why it's not. What big difference is recycling making?
"While it's true that the recycling message has reached more people than ever, when it comes to the bottom line, both economically and
environmentally, not much has changed at all. Despite decades of exhortations and mandates, it's still typically more expensive for municipalities
to recycle household waste than to send it to a landfill. Prices for recyclable materials have plummeted because of lower oil prices and reduced
demand for them overseas. The slump has forced some recycling companies to shut plants and cancel plans for new technologies." said John
Tierney is his article, "The Reign of Recycling". What Mr.Tierney was saying in this paragraph was that recycling isn't making impact that it should.
We have been doing a good job on contacting the public on the importance of reusing materials, however, even though companies who address
recycling are doing a great job on spreading the message to bring change, Mr.Tierney's view is that not much has changed over the years, which I
have noticed for a while as well. Andrew Handley made an article, "10 Ways Recycling Hurts the Environment", where he states, "People talk about
recycling like it's some sort of superhero–just by throwing that plastic

Recycling
Is It Best to Keep or Replace?
I.Introduction
Earth's total resources are only good for 2 billion people at the current demand, according to "The World Counts". However, our population as of now is
7.5 billion people. The idea of recycling was not to address until the year 1970. The motto then was "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" (Bradbury, 2014).
Overall, the sum of this matter is the consumption of a resource is faster than it can be replenished. Causes for resource depletion are overpopulation,
overconsumption that reverts to waste, deforestation that concludes with the destruction of ecosystems along with leading loses of biodiversity.
Adding with mining of minerals and oils, technology and industrial development, and lastly pollution and contamination resources
(TheWorldCounts). The philosophy behind the general idea ofrecycling is towards the demands of 'We get what we want when we need it'. With that
type of mindset, it diverts to the main reason of why our resource is being depleted at a fast rate. Although, no matter what direction the issues face, it
still remains as a fact that we consume more resources than we can replenish. That is why it is necessary to recycle but it is not efficient for the time
being. If manufacturers made everything biodegradable (such as cardboard) that issue can be alleviated.
II.Both sides of the issue
The pros for recycling are reducing waste in landfills and having more reusable items to be a common thing for our everyday life. Recycling is
promoted as being a thing of the future, so as to help us (humans) save the resources that are given to us. If we follow the saying 'A little goes a
long way' things would be salvage so to be used for a longer time. However, the case is not always that way. Plastics being in the top 3 materials to
being recycled, is also the number one thing to be made (care2.com). It's one of the main items that are recycled daily. It helps in limiting certain
resources that are used commonly, for example, wood flooring. Instead of using original wood from the trees, there are alternatives of WPC which is
wood plastic composite. It uses less wood and more plastic, allowing the trees to be cut down less and plastic to produce more often. But, with a factor

Recycling And Recycling Of Papers
First, when paper isn't recycled, 80% of it is placed in landfills. Decomposition of the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas with
twenty–one times the power of carbon dioxide. U.S. EPA has identified landfills as the largest beginning of methane emanation in the U.S., and the
refraction of paper is the largest contributor to the methane being generated. If paper is recycled, it doesn't end up in the waste stream, headed for a
landfill where it will degrade and generate methane. Simply out, the less paper landfilled, the less methane emitted. The more way to recycle all
materials, the less it goes into places where trash is being dumped. Second, recycling also improves air quality by reducing the need for power. By
collecting, processing and shipping recycled stuff to industrial users requires less energy than mining, refining, processing and shipping natural
resources according to Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection. That's a good sight because the more power the United States uses, the
more fossil fuels it burns. The higher the fossil fuel use, the more pollutant diligence pumps into the atmosphere. Manufacturing updated news report
out of recycled paper requires less energy than making paper out of wood. Production of 100% recycled poster board uses 50 percent less energy
compared to virgin grades of paperboard, thus significantly reducing the greenhouse released into the atmosphere. Third, paper recycling leaves more

Recycling Vs Recycling
The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means
recycle your paper, metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of money back for some of your recycling. The
government could be able to provide incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to recycle. This could be as
small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few short years and
rather start making things that are going to last along time and make them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a
landfill for hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it
can be recycled again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each. Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible
unless you think that it is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even more expensive electric car. We would
have less of a problem with switching from gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for people to trade in and
not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such as steam

The Great Recycling Of Recycling Essay
The Great Recycling Swindle
1.Introduction
Recycling is a common practice around the world to reduce the overall quantity of resources needed to produce new products. Whether recycling is
cost effective compared to the benefits is widely an unknown detail. The public while weighing the benefits almost never considers the cost of energy
and labor in combination with undesired effects of pollution associated with recycling.
2.Recycling Saves Money
Commonly people accept recycling saves money in the process of creating new products that are of a better quality. In some cases, recycling has the
potential to do so. Usually when something is made from an uncommon or rare material and able to be reprocessed at a reasonable price. Many things
made from different metals fall into this category.
The cost of recycling has been pointed out on a political platform, and for the 2003 budget New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed to
suspend the recycling program temporarily, to save people $57 million (Logomasini).
The average cost to recycle a ton of material can range from $50 up to $240 in some areas. Some of the factors generating the total cost include labor,
collection frequency, fuel cost, and cost of energy at the recycling facilities. Meanwhile the cost to haul a ton of garbage to thelandfill can cost about
$50 to $150. Which the costs are mainly fuel and labor wages. However, it uses far less fuel to send one truck per week on a route, and it takes less

The Importance Of Recycling
Recycling should be required by all people. There is trash everywhere because of the people that are just throwing the plastic away. Without a
recycling place we can't just throw it around the places animals will get harmed from it. Some people just leave it on the ground and it can get
smelly around here people would not like that. The animals will start to eat the plastic because it smells good and then they are just going to eat the
plastic thing too and can get sick from it. It will go everywhere and ruin the place and then when you are walking there is trash everywhere. Three
thing why recycling should be required is that land will run out of space for trash because we will run out of space when we walk or drive a car where

It will also take forever for the works to separate from them. The article sayes "As mentioned above, recycling saves energy because the
manufacturer doesn't have to produce something new from raw natural resources."Then they will get mad because all of the plasticstuff is going in
the trash. According to my research."We don't have space to put in the trash and we'll never have a place to put your trash then." The people will
also get mad when we don't have a place to put the recycling place. Thirty two percent of people don't recycle and that is the reason why people don't
recycle which they should.
Animals can get harmed by the plastic we throw away. First thing is, that people keep throwing plastic in the ocean or the land. According to the
article They can get sick and also get hurt and die from the plastic . Because of all the plastic we throw around and not putting the recycling place.
Next is, the fishes will also get sick because it goes in their mouth and die from it and ducks will get sucked in the plastic and also get hurt from it.
Accordding to the article" Over 1 million animals get harmed because of plastic stuff we throw in the ocean or somewhere." Last is, the plastic will
also get covered in plastic stuff and they won't be able to swim in it and need to swim but they can't because is hurting them.
The land can become poisoned by the waste. According to the article "We can get poisoned from the plastic like beer." and does stuff and can get

These days many of people have their own computer especially for university students because they will always need it to do the assignment from

used over an extended period of time and sometimes get damaged due to age factor, and also computers can also be damaged caused by viruses as a
result of misuse by the owner. If it has happened, it means that the owner t has to go to computer service center to clean up the virus otherwise they
waste their computer although the best option is recycling in order to minimize electronic waste. Because According to the United Nations
environmental program research data, there is an estimated 49 million metric tons of waste generated from electronic and computer products on an
annual basis on a worldwide scale (epickup.co.nz, n.d.). And also, computer equipment contains materials that can be hazardous to human health and
the environment if they are not properly managed (Northwestern.edu, n.d.). That is the reason why we need electronic recycle. Electronic recycling
means the practice of reusing, or distributing for reuse, electronic equipment and components rather than discarding them at the end of their lifecycle.

The Dangers Of Recycling
Human beings are destroying their earth every single day, more now than ever. As technology advances, humans are beginning to speed up the process
of ruining their earth. Some even say that by the time this generation's grandchildren are born there will no longer be any more natural resources left
for them to survive on. One thing is sure, for this not to happen, humans must begin to take care of their beloved earth. There are many ways to help
prevent the problem, but one huge way to prevent it is by recycling. Recycling has had a huge impact on earth already and will continue to if more
and more people begin to contribute. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, "Recycling is the process of collecting and
processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products." Basically instead of throwing stuff away,
you can recycle them and see if you could use them for anything else. There are four major sections of recycling, they're paper, glass, plastic, and
metal. According to the Waste Management website, paper makes up 29% or 71 million tons of municipal waste stream. There are many different
types of paper that humans can recycle, starting with, magazines, corrugated cardboard, office paper, newspaper, paperboard, paper cardboard diary
and juice cartons, unsolicited direct mail, and phone books. (Waste Management, 2017) In the United States about a little less than one–third of jars

Recycling And Recycling Papers
1.According to Recyelingbin.com every ton of paper recycled can save the energy equivalent of 165 gallons of gasoline, 17 trees can absorb a total of
250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year, burning that same ton of paper would create 15,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, and the process of
recycling paper instead of making it from new materials generates 74% less air pollution and uses 50% less water. Manufacturing recycled paper
uses only 60% of the energy needed to make paper from new materials. Recycling refers to reuse of materials either in their changed or their
original form instead of regarding them as waste or even throwing them away. Reusing materials or changing their form into new materials has
many benefits to the environment as well as contributing in a new way towards our day to day lives. Every member of the society has a
responsibility to encourage one another to recycle materials to prevent environmental pollution. For example, recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17
mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, and 2 barrels of oil (Recyclingbin.com). This will save the environment for
coming generations. Recycling is tasking at times, people in business sector might regard it as an extra cost associated with extra work in separation
of reusable materials from the rest of the garbage and an extra job, hence an addition wage. They also view the process as one involving transportation
cost and processing machinery. For these

Recycling Landfills
Year after year, demands of consumers and output of products is increasing. As a result, landfills in America are steadily growing and in response,
so is the emphasis on recycling. Though recycling has had a positive effect on the environment, it is not a fully sustainable solution to taking care
of the billions of tons of waste produced by Americans. As toxins are released and gasses are emitted, the need for a solution to the exponential
growth of landfills is prominent. A trending and interesting answer is living a zero waste lifestyle. Though most products come with some variation
of packaging, dedicated environmentalists have successfully adopted this habit and hope their efforts will have a visible effect. Municipal solid
waste (MSW), more commonly known as garbage or trash, is steadily filling landfills across the United States. Landfills are carefully built disposal
facilities for MSW and are designed to keep the waste from contaminating the environment around it (Advanced Disposal Services, 2017). The use of
landfills is a two thousand year old tradition, starting in Ancient Rome and becoming popular in the United States in the mid 1950's (Ezban. 2012).
There are many factors that contribute to the filling of landfills. Growing population rates, product packaging increases, and consumption rates are to
name a few (Shah, et al, 2007). In a recent study it was concluded that "Americans generated about 258 million tons of MSW in 2014, up from the

Recycling Is The Method Of Regaining Recycling Essay
Recycling is the method of regaining, reprocessing, and reusing materials that would otherwise be thrown away (Opposing Viewpoints in Context
2014). The most commonly recycled materials include paper, glass, plastic, and metals. Materials may be used to make more of its original product or
to make something entirely new. For example, recycled aluminum cans are often made into new cans, while recycled class may be made into paving
material. Recycling does not always save money immediately, it provides long lasting benefits because it conserves natural resources while saving
energy and reducing pollution. Recycling isn't a new concept in the modern era, humans have always been finding new uses for items. However,
large scale recycling is a fairly recent trend that gained widespread support in the 1970s when people became more aware of their environmental
impact. In this essay, we will be reviewing arguments made by three writers from different backgrounds and their views of recycling. We will analyze
what does and doesn't work in their arguments, and if they properly are using ethos, pathos, and logic. Afterwards, I will give my own rebuttal from a
perspective of a college student. Recycling is a complicated progression that has been developing throughout the century, and while it falters at times, it
is moving towards a better and less wasteful future.

Raise your voice not the trash level
How will I help our environment? I will be partnering up with Karlie Ramirez, we have decided on the 21st of October, to head up to Giant Rock,
located in Lucerne Valley. Over the years Mankind has polluted our air drastically, consequently, we throw trash on the ground and in our oceans. At
worst is air pollution. Exhaust fumes, Radiation spill or nuclear accidents It creates an adverse effect on the overall environment. We put fumes and
gases in our air on a daily basis and How does this affect our environment? As some of us have seen It kills wildlife and is currently putting a hole in
our Ozone Layer. Karlie and I will be heading to pick up trash, approximately for about 5 hours. Before we can move forward, there are a few steps we
will need to complete before the 23rd of September. Moving Forward to our first step will need to speak to our parents about purchasing a few
items. Such as trash bags, gloves, and water. Moving on to our Second step, discussing where we will be disposing of all trash we pick up. When you
make a point of doing everything you can to help our environment by recycling, your actions make you part of the solution rather than part of the
problem. Our third step, talk to our parents about transportation and Location in Giant Rock. After these steps, Karlie and I will be ready to help our

The Benefits of Recycling
Recycling is one of the easiest and best ways for people to help the environment. More people need to recognize and take recycling seriously, because
it can prolong the survival of humanity on Earth. The basic concept of recycling is the process of converting used materials or waste into reusable
material for production. It is essential that people start realizing that recycling is necessary now, and going to be more necessary in the future because
of the new, higher quality lifestyles people are living. With more people becoming wealthier, more products are being consumed, and as a result more
waste is being produced. In addition, the world's increasing population also increases the number of products that could become potential waste ... Show

Both fast food and their packages contain materials that are not perishable, which starts piling up in landfills, creating more pollution. In addition,
these different types of waste have more side effects that cause even higher levels pollution. For instance, chemicals and greenhouse gases come
from many kinds of waste, and are released into the environment making the levels of pollution very high around landfills ("Recycling is
Important"). Instead of becoming waste, materials can be recycled and used again. Therefore, if all these different types of waste are recycled, then
it will limit a large amount of pollution in the environment. Using recycling to limit pollution on Earth is also a great reason that demonstrates the
benefits of recycling, which shows that it needs more awareness. One of the most recognized and important benefits of recycling is conserving
natural resources. Natural resources are the major reasons why the humanity has still survived on Earth, which is why we need to conserve as much
as possible. Most people are aware that the main purpose for recycling is to conserve resources, but not many people take it seriously. They do not
realize how big of an impact recycling can actually have, so they do not pay much attention to it. Though this is not the case with recycling. If
everybody can contribute to recycling, no matter how small the contribution, it will be a huge

plastic universe, and very unaware. The problem with plastic, is how frequently it is being used, and having no true way of disposing it. The fibers of
plastic are in just about everything on Earth, not only is it sitting inside the Earth, it is in everything surrounding us. There is plastic materials in food
containers, make up, fuel, and so much more. Using science, and technology, we need to find new ways of disposing unwanted shreds of plastic, and
other recyclables. Recycling might not get rid of all the issues growing with global warming, but being aware of what is being ... Show more content on

The recycling system most of America uses, is flawed, like the majority of any type of system, used in America. The main type of recycling
companies, use machines that "sort" through the different types of plastic, then proceeds to be melted or crushed into one hunk of plastic.
(Terry,Beth page 73) On the contrary, the plastic we recycle, does not stay in the U.S.A, we send it to China, to then be used to resell back to us
("Made in China: Our Toxic, Imported Air Pollution"). Not only do we do the main processing, the machines often get clogged with the thin
plastic bags, so most of them do not even get to the melting stage. Plastic bags really are just a nuisance, with no positive attributes. Washington
D.C. even put a tax on plastic bags, in hopes to reduce the amount being distributed. It worked, but too well. ("No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That
Works Too Well.") According to a survey made by councilman Tommy Wells, the use of plastic bags by shoppers has dropped 50% ("No Paper, No
Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well"). In even better news, for the supporters of a clean Earth, the funds that were made by the tax, are now being
used toward clean–up efforts for the Anacostia River, which is a polluted urban waterway clogged with plastic bags. Since the clean up began, the
amount of plastic found in the river have significantly decreased. Legislature members are arguing though, that with the decreased amount of plastic
bags being used, so will the contamination in the river, thus making the clean up crew pointless. The tax created to help reduce the amount of plastic
bags, is slowly making its way around, California tried the bill, but was not passed. Getting involved in your community, can help the government pass
bills, like the plastic bag

Recycling Waste Of Recycling
Although recycling of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based plastics decrease the amount of these polymers that end up in municipal waste, the cost of
recycling these plastics for the producer are an important factor to weigh in to whether they should be recycled or not. PVC is a soft and flexible
plastic used to make clear plastic food wrapping, computer cables, and even pipes and parts for plumbing. Because PVC contains numerous toxins,
food products using PVC require virgin material for their construction. In general, there are two types of PVC recycling processes, mechanical and
feedstock, which include their own respect costs, purposes, and benefits. Although there are a large number of costs for the producer for recycling
PVC from the toxicity to the inefficacy of its recycling process, there are many benefits that include reducing the amount of PVC in municipal waste
and its usefulness as a recycled product. In general, virgin PVC itself is already relatively toxic as its main component is vinyl chloride, which is a
carcinogen. Once PVC is recycled once, its chemical properties deteriorate, and its toxicity becomes more harmful, meaning its usefulness as a food
container product no longer exist. Therefore, recycled PVC cannot be used to its previous full potential lead companies to think whether it is worth it
to recycle this polymer. Although recycled polymers are cheaper to produce, their "quality decreases due to contamination with each recycling cycle"

Impacts Of Recycling
Recycling is helping the environment by eliminating waste. Recycling is taking old metal or paper and taking it to a foundry . Giving it back to them
to make new products with to save the natural resource that it would take to make it from scratch. If the metal companies had to take and mine for the
ore that it takes to make metal they would be hurting the environment a lot worse than what they would by using recycled goods. Recycling metal also
helps us the consumer save on the natural resources that we may need later on in life. The best thing about metal are that it will never lose its
structural value no matter how many time the consumer recycles it (Green Tumble.) Recycled aluminum can travel around the world four times and
still save more energy than what it would to mine for ore (Less Is More).
Metal production is a very long and energy consuming process. If we don't recycle and use the materials that we already have then they have to mine
for the ore (GLE Scrap). If the companies have to mine for the iron ore that it takes to make the metal they have to go in and cut down acres of trees
(GLE Scrap). Then they have to move in all of their equipment in to start the mining process. The mining equipment burns through a lot of
petroleum of other wise know as gas or diesel (GLE Scrap). If we were to use the recycled materials then we can save the ore till we really need it
(GLE Scrap). Which will cut down on the gases that are burned while mining. Recycling is also

The Importance Of Recycling
Recycling is an essential component of speedy and efficient waste management. Non–biodegradable wastes and products sapping precious natural
resources, essentially trees, and fossil fuels can wreak havoc on our environment and bio–diversity ("Recycling", 2017). My goal is to start an at home
recycling program by following the correct steps to be taken that will not only benefit me but will also help the environment. There will be critical
timelines for implementing these action steps and ways to measure progress towards achieving my plan. I will also need to find out what barriers I
might encounter during the process and how to overcome them. After that, I should find support resources to help me tie everything together and
ensure that I am following my plan and getting as much information as possible.
I feel that the most important part of the recycling process will be getting started, gaining knowledge on what you can and cannot recycle. As well as
stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new that can be beneficial. I believe that most of the time individuals are misinformed about
recycling and this is one of the primary reasons that they don't want to participate in the process. Along with thinking that it might take up more space
than it saves or even the fact that it requires you not to be lazy and separate your trash.
First, start by going to a website and doing some research. I started with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency); this gave me an idea

Recycling for Sustainability
Recycling is a method used to change waste materials into original resources to avoid waste of potentially beneficial resources. Utilization is a key
factor of modern waste reduction and it is a substantial feature of the 'Reduce', 'Reuse', 'Recycle' waste hierarchy. Recycling is far more authoritative
than most people are inclined to consider. The first rule of eulogy is that everything is connected.
Sustainability is the main start of the environmental protection; it is about maintaining health and efficiency of the natural environment as well as the
social environment as nature and society are critically interconnected. Sustainability is about families, communities and society as well as air, water

These enormous material consumption numbers don't incorporate the water needed to grow food and to run our households. Consistently we consume
in this way about a hundred times our body weight in water. But household water use to be on the decline in the most developed countries. In the U.S.
it is down about 5 percent from the peak in the 1980, in the substantial part due to low–flush toilets.
Brands have dependable been a guarantee of quality, value and addressing personal needs and this is the way they assemble loyalty, individuals need
to reproduce previous good experiences and brands help them to do it effectively, for example, Nike, Apple, Sony etc. In the future, this nature of
experience will depend on helping individuals to comprehend and manage how much they consume, not just offering pleasure, efficacy and
consistency. These brands are the implications and practices of everyday life. As they do this, not only will they convey the great experiences we

Recycling is the process of collecting used materials, commonly known as waste, and creating new products to prevent the waste of potentially useful
materials. Over the years, businesses started to associate themselves with recycling and being environmentally friendly. However, large coffee
corporations do not feel like they need to abide their rules and regulations. Claiming to recycle paper cups allows them to maintain good relations in the
public's eye, but this is not what actually happens behind the scenes. As a result of that, the recycling of paper cups should be more regulated.
The recycling of paper cups should be more regulated and that is due to the Corporate Social Responsibility that each organization should have.

However, that should not be applicable for these corporations to neglect the recycling process. Pollution is increasing and coffee shops are held
accountable for that by selling those cups. Other stakeholders such as NGOs feel that these shops are obligated to provide solutions and be more
regulated. NGOs are very important stakeholders because they can put pressure on governments to change policies resulting in more difficult business
regulations. So, it is better for them to regulate their paper cup recycling themselves than for the government doing it for them. Finally, addressing
social problems can become financial opportunities such as charging an additional fee for every paper cup purchased to cover up the extra cost of
recycling.
Ultimately, the recycling of paper cups should be more regulated and that is due to the CSR that each organization should have. By doing so, the
pollution would decrease and other stakeholders will be satisfied.

Plastic Bags: Replace, Reuse or Recycle
Plastic bags are an everyday part of our lives, we use them without thought and often discard them in the trash once they are no longer needed. If
you looked in your kitchen in the pantry or under the kitchen sink; you would probably find a significant number of plastic bags stored there. We
rarely stop to think about what the proper way to dispose of a plastic bag would be or if there is a proper way to achieve this. Just take a moment to
reflect about how much plastic based products are a vital part of our everyday lives. Then ask yourselves, what we as a community, can do to explore
methods for the disposal of plastics bags. One option that comes to mind includes contacting your local county representatives to ask about increased
recycling or proper disposal opportunities for plastic bags. If recycling plastic bags in your local area is too cost prohibitive, then perhaps there should
be a discussion on alternative options the plastic bag.
Many people take for granted that plastic bags are recyclable when they are not a commonly acceptable recyclable material. For instance, in Fairfax
County, Virginia which is a part of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area and has a current population of over 1 million people, there are currently no
recycling facilities within the county that accept plastic bags for processing. Consider for a moment how

Arguments For Recycling
Don't Repeat History: An Argument For Recycling In 1987, a barge by the name of Mobro 4000 was struggling to find a place to dump 3,168 tons of
trash. It traveled from Long Island, where the trash came from, down the entire East Coast until it reached Belize. The barge stopped at multiple ports
along the way to dump the trash, but was turned away each time. Many people watched the story unfold on the news, and realized how little landfill
space the country actually had. People frantically started lowering household waste through recycling what was possible to be recycled instead of
throwing it in the trash. This brought us the environmental movement of the late 80's. Some people say the reason the Mobro 4000 wasn't able to
dump over 3,000 tons of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) was because they didn't have the appropriate papers filled out to give the barge permission
to dump at a particular landfill site. But others are confident the story is true, and hold the argument that the world is limited on how much landfill
space there is and abide that something needs to be done sooner than later. Whether someone thinks the story is true or not, it is undeniable that
recycling would keep a barge from trying to dump that many tons of trash anytime in the near future. We don't have to recycle every plastic bottle or
piece of paper we come into contact with on a daily basis, but recycling even a few of these items a week can still have a positive outcome. On
average, a typical middle

Recyclability Of Recycling
Although there are numerous benefits to recycling such as a whole job and market industry and environmental conservation, majority of these benefits
cannot be accessed without the participation of the public. Unfortunately, a large majority of the general population does not recycle mostly because
of the time it takes to simply sort recyclables or take to a drop–off facility. Therefore, a new system should be put in place and spread to increase the
recycling participation to completely access the benefits of recycling and to reach a strong level of sustainability. Thankfully, most people are
motivated by money or lack thereof, so a deposit system would motivate more people to recycle by giving them the choice to make their money back
and recycle or simply lose money. Additionally, this deposit system would motivate the public because they would simply input a relatively low time
cost for a financial reward. Because of these known motivational trends, the deposit system will definitively improve the recycling participation rate
leading to increased environmental conservation and a solid level of sustainability. Although the deposit system seems very complicated, it involves a
very simple idea with a clear goal of increasing the recycling participation rate. Under the deposit system, when a customer buys a water bottle or
another material depending on the restriction and laws of the state, the customer would pay an additional set dollar amount such as five cents. If the

Raise your voice not the trash level
How will I help our environment? I will be partnering up with Karlie Ramirez, we have decided on the 21st of October to head up to Giant Rock,
located in Lucerne Valley. Over the years mankind has polluted our air drastically, consequently we throw trash on the ground and in our oceans. At
worst is air pollution. Exhaust fumes, Radiation spill or nuclear accidents It creates an adverse effect on the overall environment. We put fumes and
gases in our air on a daily base and How does this affect our environment? As some of us have seen It kills wildlife and is currently putting a hole in our
Ozone Layer. Karlie and I will be heading to pick up trash, approximately for about 5 hours. Before we can move forward, there are a few steps we will
need to complete before the 23rd of September. Moving Forward to our first step, will need to speak to our parent about purchasing a few items.
Such as, trash bags, gloves and water. Moving on to our Second step, discussing where we will be disposing of all trash we pick up. When you make
a point of doing everything you can to help your environment by recycling, your actions make you part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
Our third step, talk to our parents about transportation and Location in Giant Rock. After these steps, Karlie and I will be ready to help our earth
function and breathe, on the 21st of October. (Here we come Giant Rock!) Everyday items such as soda cans and plastic bottles can be deadly for
unsuspecting wildlife.
How is picking up trash going to help our environment? Research has shown, you may or may not know that our Earth has a hole in its ozone layer,
due to society littering and polluting the air. Not only that, but by picking up everyday items such as soda cans and plastic bottles you can save
hundreds, if not thousands of Animals, such as birds, bunny's, ducks, deer, fish and not to mention seals and many more different kinds of Animals
from choking and eating trash that can potentially kill them. Of course it may not seem like just the two of us can do much, but remember in theory a
little can go a long way.So if each individual in this class could vow to just clean up after themselves, Recycling

Benefits Of Recycling
Do Americans realize all the opportunities they have to make the environment a better place by recycling? When Americans recycle, it makes a positive
difference to the environment. Growing up, there was always recycling bins at school, at public places, and at local businesses that were available 24/7
for people to use. There are many benefits to recycle such as less trash in landfills, resources conservation, energy conservation, environmental
conservation, environment protection, and financial benefits. With these benefits come the items that can be recycled like aluminum, plastic bottles,
newspaper/paper, and electronics. The first benefit of recycling is it creates less trash in the landfills. Americans throw away approximately 100
million tons of trash per year causing landfills to become scarce and lacking space. Meghan stated in her blog, "According to the EPA, recycling can
cut this waste by up to 32 percent, which equates to about 60 million tons of trash."
Another benefit would be resource conservation which helps conserve the environment. This benefit helps save the all–important resources like wood
pulp from trees, paper, fossil fuels, and plastics. Examples of this would be buying recycled paper or purchasing items that use recycled plastics. "The
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is the public law that creates the framework for the proper management of hazardous and
non–hazardous solid waste" ("EPA").

Recycling In Recycling
Recycling is a process that makes certain materials to be reused in some other ways; which gives improvement over landfilling, incineration and
reduce environmental pollution. To make a city more sustainable, recycle is important but it depends on the actions of many individuals. What the
promoter can do is to make recycle easier for people; such as bins for recycling, as convenient location as possible. If people need to walk a long
distance to get to a recycling bin, then they may throw it in the trash or any other bins instead. The label should be clear, obvious and easy to
understand. One of the themes that recur in the sustainability field is the need for communication and teamwork.
What can be recycled?
Paper: cardboard boxes, newspapers, magazines, junk mails...
Plastic: margarine and ice cream tubs, yoghurt pots...
Bottles: drinks, shampoo and detergent bottles
Tins and cans: both steel and aluminium as well as aerosols
Glass: all colours but no broken glass or ovenware
Cannot be recycled
Tissue and kitchen roll
Plastic wrap, cling film, bubble wrap and plastic bags
Coffee cups
Crisp packets and sweet wrappers
Polystyrene

Recycling And Recycling Essay
Have you seen how great the sky looks lately? Individually as humans we have been doing a great job in maintaining our environment. Just look at
how many more landfills we have compared to recycling plants, It's truly an amazing sight to behold. It is nice to know that all of the materials that
could have been reused are going back in the ground where they came from. We are often bombarded with news articles, tv commercials, and social
media about how the destruction of the Earth is approaching at a pace faster than before. These are alternative facts. Trees are everywhere. They'd rule
the world if it weren't for us. It is difficult to travel for more than ten minutes without seeing a tree. However, self–proclaimed environmentalists get
aggravated if you try to cut so much as a single tree without pledging to plant one hundred more! It is a common belief that we are not doing enough
for the Earth, but what more could we do? We use the resources we need, and then we put them right back where they came from. Clearly recycling
plants and recycling receptacles are being rendered obsolete by the infamous trash bin/landfill combo. They are a huge waste of space. Assuming that
we just threw everything away, it would create a considerable amount of space for more practical buildings such as oil refinery's, plastic
manufacturing plants, the list goes on to give better alternatives for taxpayer dollars. Many people do not even recycle, because they know that trash or

Recycling Plan For A Comprehensive Recycling Program
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We live in a time of limited financial resources within our communities. Most prominent is the structural deficit. We, the community club members,
believe that one way of addressing the structural deficit is with the implementation of a comprehensive reuse, reduce and recycling program. Our
community recycling proposal concerns one aspect of such a comprehensive recycling program. Our proposal is to help our community club house save
money while generating new revenue, expanding the existing recycling program, and to build a sense of community. This proposal was prepared by
clubhouse meetings, research, and substantial continued community support.
This proposal is designed to answer the following questions, would a recycling program make sense, what a recycling program look like, and how
would it work to fit within our community? Finally, the proposal will state the need for a one person coordinating effort to oversee the greening of the
community club house.
INTRODUCTION
Recycling is defined as the separation of salvageable items from composite trash. Recycling is a crucial part of environment sustainability. Benefits
from proper recycling systems are obvious, as the life of consumer products are extended beyond one use. By replacing a new product with a used
product, raw material usage is minimized as well as the intermittent pollution associated with production. In addition, the re–used product is diverted

Recycling Research Paper What exactly is recycling you may ask? Recycling is an act to transform waste into a reusable material, returning the
material to its previous stage in a cycle process, making it able to use again with a total different usage. It is the collecting and processing of materials
that are thrown away as trash and turned it into new product. There are benefits to the act of recycling and also is a three step process to make the
continuous cycle happen. There is also question as to what is recycling's key purpose, how does it really affect the environment, and how does the
USA compare to other countries over the world when recycling is involved? There are multiple benefits of recycling which many people feel are the ...

Step 3 is the buying of new products made of the recycled resources that can either be easily recycled and some that may contain recycled content.
Some that can be found while out shopping include common products like egg cartons, trash bags, and motor oil. Recycling has a few key purposes
and huge environmental impacts including the following: reducing landfill waste, helps with natural resource savings, saves forest and other habitats,
reduce energy consumption, decreases pollution, and reduces global warming. Landfills cause huge environmental problems because they are often
filled with waste products that aren't biodegradable, so with recycling in place, those items are able to be removed and made into something
useful instead of stay and emitting harmful gases to the environment. Recycling an abundant amount of material can replace the use of other
natural resources. For example, recycled office paper can save "17 trees, 7 thousand gallons of water, 463 gallons of oil, and 3 cubic yards of
landfill space." Forest and other habitats are saved when paper, newspapers, etc. are being recycled because doing so millions of tress don't have to
be chopped down. Energy consumption can be reduced with plastics, metals, or paper being sorted properly and recycled. Less energy is needed to
recycle a product then to recreate from scratch and recycling can reduce energy use from the most energy intensive materials. Pollution

reusable materials are a process that takes decades to have at least half of the world's population to get involved; however Nevada started to show
advances to recycling, with investments from industries, universities or schools, and individuals. Hotels on the Las Vegas Stripand diverse population
of students have promoted recycling exceedingly, which encouraged and still is encouraging out–of–state recycling industries to take a step further in

As mentioned, Rebel Recycling is foundational with the Three R aspects to build up their duties: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" (University of
Nevada, Las Vegas [UNLV], 2015). Rebel Recycling was founded by a UNLV student in 1995, where it started as a class project. However the
program converted into an organization, with the approval of the Boards of Regents, that it would be a worth to keep. Subsequently, the first year
resulted in a saving of recyclable materials of around two to three tons each week; but ever since the third year, the numbers grew of recycling
around three to four tons of materials each day. Hence, this organization's achievement rewarded them with becoming noticed as part of the
Custodial Department at UNLV. Even nowadays, the Rebel Recycling organization works to save energy and water, be a steward model and
supports Nevada's recycling projects. They have also laid out their mission where they long to be an exquisite source of recycling and to administer
Nevada's environment. To become a leading group, they have participated events to support, not only Nevada's but a nationwide charity for the earth
and our people. They are well known to be involved in activities, like: Earth Day, Drive Up Drop Off (DUDO), Christmas tree recycling and being in
charge of UNLV's recycling projects. Through these events, Rebel Recycling expressed their value to set good examples and high expectations to the
environmental facilities. This organization is well–structured and systematized for convenient and easy workflow: main station or office, customer

impact all being aware and knowing that recycling is reuse; if we make a daily habit will give more life to our planet.
On the other hand, if we see further recycling is environmental sustainability and if done properly would take advantage of a more effective way of
natural resources.
But really know what is recyclable? Is a physical–chemical or mechanical process is to submit to a substance or a product already used to a cycle of

We have not seen the massive amounts ofpollution we put into our environment, in the air, the ground where trash is stored, the water is poisoned with
chemicals given off by the trash in large quantities, even with noise!
In conclusion I can say that recycling is an effective way to help nature replenish the natural resources to end the excessive amount of garbage,

The Controversy Of Recycling

  • 1. The Controversy Of Recycling Recycling is always a great idea, but do we really need a law stating what color bin it belongs in. Should we really be monitored on how much we are recycling? In my opinion, it is our own right to have privacy in our grabage or recycling. I believe that recycling is an amazing way to save our world from being destroyed down the line. When people recycle, it not only gives the companies the material to burn down the old used materials and use them over again, but it saves our enviorment from looking trashy or destroyed. Although, there are many ways in changing what item goes where, what should belong in a landfill, or what should be recycled, but this is not one of them. Our privacy is what is important to alot of people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Disadvantages Of Recycling Gift wrapping materials, such as gift wrap, are often non–recyclable (Earth911qtd. in Gift). This is because wrapping paper is often dyed and laminated, and can contain additives, such as gold and silver coloring, glitter and plastics, and usually has nonrecyclable tape on it (Earth911 qtd. in Gift). Including too much non–recyclable material in the recycling bin can keep an entire load of material from being recycled, so it is important to only place accepted items in the recycling bin (Malone). Trying to recycle non–recyclable items can cause more harm to the environment than simply sending the non–recyclable items to the landfill to begin with. If looking to buy recyclable wrapping paper, it is better to stick with the simple stuff, like basic craft paper without a shiny coating (Miller). But really, it's better to reuse giftwrap or to avoid it entirely (Malone). This is because making wrapping paper recyclable is not the most effective solution. Yes, recycling is often preferable to sending materials straight to the landfill, but recycling has its own demons. A big concern regarding recycling is the possibility of encouraging over consumption. As award winning environmental journalist Amy Westervelt explains in her essay, "Can Recycling Be Bad for the Environment", people will ease the guilty they feel for massively over–consuming disposable goods by tossing the used items into their recycling bins (213). But not everything that's recyclable gets recycled–recycling is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Speech On Recycling Recycling If recycling is the future, then we must focus our efforts on reducing negative impacts to our community while protecting our environment. Although recycling may seem like a modern concept introduced with the environmental movement of the 1970s, it's actually been around for thousands of years. Prior to the industrial age, society couldn't make goods quickly and cheaply, so practically everyone practiced recycling in some form. When products can be produced and purchased cheaply, it often makes more economic sense to simply throw away old items and purchase brand new ones. However, this culture of disposable goods created a number of environmental problems. Through correct methods of recycling, people all over the world could ... By recycling the United States could eliminate the need to build more landfills and instead of looking for more places to put them, look for ways to get rid of them. This will also lower the amounts of water pollution and air pollution because landfills are one one of the top 5 causes of pollution along with factories that are creating the brand new products. Recycling is the process of converting waste into new materials, when the world recycles, the need goes down for brand new materials to be produced from factories, and the world becomes cleaner and more available for humans and wildlife. Right at this very minute there are at least 5.25 trillion plastic particles; weighing nearly 270,000 tons, floating in the oceans right now. The World Economic Forum issued a study that said, "By 2050, there will be so much plastic floating in the ocean it will outweigh all fish life, unless we start to do something about it." Picking up trash not only protects the environment and keeps our surroundings beautiful, but it can also save wildlife. Plastic bags and twine can easily trap birds and other smaller animals, hurting or even killing them. National Parks and Forestries, are some of the United States biggest tourist attractions. • 4. Should Recycling Be Mandatory Recycling? Over the years threatening environmental issues like global warming and are making countries all over the world put into consideration actions such as mandatory recycling in order to prevent disasters. The huge amount of garbage produced every day is fulfilling landfills quickly in the past few years, polluting and contributing to global warming. Recycling is considered a small solution for a big problem as global warming but also can have a huge impact in our daily life. Besides protecting the environment, mandatory recycling should help reduce pollution, save energy and provide new job opportunities. Passing a law that makes permanent the practice of recycling in a country like the United States will promote recycling awareness, preventing a world covered in waste and pollution. Today, many of us might know what recycling is and how good it is for the environment. It helps to protect our world and has a positive impact in our way of leaving. Pollution is one of the most concerning problems in our society because of the huge amount of waste produced every day. Recycling is a simple and cheap solution with an enormous impact in the reduction of pollution, using as an example the incineration of materials such as aluminum that releases toxic gases into to the atmosphere. "The recycling of aluminum saves over 95% of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore and results in substantially less pollution of air and water" (Hill, 1977). • 5. The Benefits Of Recycling Due to the global consumer society we live in, the world has no shortage of trash. There are billions of people across the world that purchase, use, and dispose of products. As a result of the high–volume waste production, there are different options for disposing that waste. The leading options of disposing trash are recycling and incineration. Recycling renews waste to become reused and redistributed whereas incineration burns waste into energy. It is significant to choose the correct route of disposing waste to make sure it benefits communities, the economy, and the environment. Natural resources are finite, so it is necessary to use a disposal process that reduces the raw material production and extends the life of products that already exist. For this reason, recycling is a great solution. Recycling has become an environmental movement and continues to be a reliable remedy for the growing mountains of waste on this planet. The overall cost of recycling decreases as the recycling industry grows and people recycle more frequently and efficiently. According to a study from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, recycling costs $50 per ton while incineration costs $650 per ton (Seltenrich). Saint John's University stated in their article about myths and facts of recycling that hundreds of companies like Hewlett Packard, Bank of America, and the U.S. Postal Service have saved millions of dollars through recycling programs ("Recycling"). • 6. Recycling Case Study : Recycling Recycling Case Study Preface Sustainable development has been a growing concern for the modern day civilization as more people become aware of the fact that our style of living is simply not sustainable for the environment and the entire planet on a global level. This is very much evident in such things as the ozone layer depletion, the growing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere and the endangerment of many wildlife species due to loss of habitats. A major concern is the limited amount of fossil fuels. Most of the plastics that we use are derived from fossil fuels and thus more attention is being drawn into recycling of plastics. The aim of this report is to Introduction Plastics have invariably grown in terms of production and the function they play in our everyday lives. They are also replacing many applications where metals were used due to the fact that it has a much lower density and thus offers weight saving advantages. Simple everyday uses of plastic have also created more demand for plastics over the past 50 years and this has led to more production. The plastic market has grown in size significantly and in Europe alone accounts for more than 1.4 million people employed with a turnover of 87 billion euros for plastics producers and 202 billion euro plastic conversion in 2012 (Plastics Europe, 2013). Figure 1 shows the global production of plastics over the past 50 years and it shows how rapidly plastics have become integrated into society. In 2012, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Recycling Recycling Every year, $7 billion worth of recyclable materials are sent to landfills in the United States alone. Each community plays a role in contributing to this number. Unfortunately, if we as the Village of Mundelein are not doing our best to reduce this massive amount of waste, we are partly responsible. Far too many reusable items end up in the trash in our town. As a student at Mundelein High School, I notice my peers don't seem to realize there is a difference between the recycling bin and the trash can. Trash ends up in the recyclables and vice versa. Moreover, a recent Lake County study found that Mundelein was not in the top 10 communities that recycle the most ("Garbage and Recycling Program"). Even worse, it also revealed that Mundelein's recycling rates between 2014 and 2015 actually decreased–– we moved from 1.72 pounds of trash per person per day to 1.79! There are multiple reasons for that, including not enough awareness and not implementing a more efficient recycling system. There are many negative effects sending recycling to the landfills. An obvious consequence is that our environment suffers. The amount of trash sent to the landfill only keeps increasing. Eventually, there will be no space left in the current landfill, and it will be necessary to dig a new one. Recycling helps slow down this process and preserve the beauty of the environment in Mundelein. Furthermore, throwing away reusable materials such as plastic damages our water supply. • 8. Blue Orb Recycling And Recycling Reduction Executive Summary Blue Orb Recycling is one of Minnesota's leaders in recycling and waste reduction. The company accepted a diverse arrangement of programs and incentives to achieve a recycling rate of 37%. While this recycling rate is high, Blue Orb Recycling has adopted a far more enthusiastic goal of 50%, to meet the goals of the state of Minnesota. There are economic benefits that Blue Orb takes advantage of in regards to recycling rather than letting all the waste go to the landfill. There is a steady increase in the amount of buyers that enables recycling companies to maintain a steady market growth for the business. We have focused our business towards meeting the demands of the consumer and not solely on the profits. Although, with the implementation of new programs over the years and the work towards developing new ones, we have been able to retain customers and gain new ones which drives our gross margins up. Blue Orb Recycling has drafted a strategic plan to meet the needs of the business ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Speech On Recycling So you may be saying to yourself, "Of course! Why wouldn't it be?". Well what if it isn't? What if using green products isn't the best way of keeping the environment as a whole healthy? I will thoroughly explain the answers to these questions. Based on information I have efficiently gathered, I will have to say that I believe it is both mandatory, but not making the greatest impact it should. My reason for my opinion is that recycling is crucial when it comes to keeping environment healthy by reducing pollution and by preventing dangerous and contaminated waste (or at least making it healthy), but articles have said that it's still regularly more costly for districts to reuse family household waste than to send it to a landfill. Recycling companies are forced into closing or canceling plans for mostly new technologies. There are many reasons why recycling is making a positive difference on our environment and even ourselves, but yet there are reasons why it's not. What big difference is recycling making? "While it's true that the recycling message has reached more people than ever, when it comes to the bottom line, both economically and environmentally, not much has changed at all. Despite decades of exhortations and mandates, it's still typically more expensive for municipalities to recycle household waste than to send it to a landfill. Prices for recyclable materials have plummeted because of lower oil prices and reduced demand for them overseas. The slump has forced some recycling companies to shut plants and cancel plans for new technologies." said John Tierney is his article, "The Reign of Recycling". What Mr.Tierney was saying in this paragraph was that recycling isn't making impact that it should. We have been doing a good job on contacting the public on the importance of reusing materials, however, even though companies who address recycling are doing a great job on spreading the message to bring change, Mr.Tierney's view is that not much has changed over the years, which I have noticed for a while as well. Andrew Handley made an article, "10 Ways Recycling Hurts the Environment", where he states, "People talk about recycling like it's some sort of superhero–just by throwing that plastic ... • 10. Recycling Is It Best to Keep or Replace? I.Introduction Earth's total resources are only good for 2 billion people at the current demand, according to "The World Counts". However, our population as of now is 7.5 billion people. The idea of recycling was not to address until the year 1970. The motto then was "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" (Bradbury, 2014). Overall, the sum of this matter is the consumption of a resource is faster than it can be replenished. Causes for resource depletion are overpopulation, overconsumption that reverts to waste, deforestation that concludes with the destruction of ecosystems along with leading loses of biodiversity. Adding with mining of minerals and oils, technology and industrial development, and lastly pollution and contamination resources (TheWorldCounts). The philosophy behind the general idea ofrecycling is towards the demands of 'We get what we want when we need it'. With that type of mindset, it diverts to the main reason of why our resource is being depleted at a fast rate. Although, no matter what direction the issues face, it still remains as a fact that we consume more resources than we can replenish. That is why it is necessary to recycle but it is not efficient for the time being. If manufacturers made everything biodegradable (such as cardboard) that issue can be alleviated. II.Both sides of the issue The pros for recycling are reducing waste in landfills and having more reusable items to be a common thing for our everyday life. Recycling is promoted as being a thing of the future, so as to help us (humans) save the resources that are given to us. If we follow the saying 'A little goes a long way' things would be salvage so to be used for a longer time. However, the case is not always that way. Plastics being in the top 3 materials to being recycled, is also the number one thing to be made (care2.com). It's one of the main items that are recycled daily. It helps in limiting certain resources that are used commonly, for example, wood flooring. Instead of using original wood from the trees, there are alternatives of WPC which is wood plastic composite. It uses less wood and more plastic, allowing the trees to be cut down less and plastic to produce more often. But, with a factor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Recycling And Recycling Of Papers First, when paper isn't recycled, 80% of it is placed in landfills. Decomposition of the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas with twenty–one times the power of carbon dioxide. U.S. EPA has identified landfills as the largest beginning of methane emanation in the U.S., and the refraction of paper is the largest contributor to the methane being generated. If paper is recycled, it doesn't end up in the waste stream, headed for a landfill where it will degrade and generate methane. Simply out, the less paper landfilled, the less methane emitted. The more way to recycle all materials, the less it goes into places where trash is being dumped. Second, recycling also improves air quality by reducing the need for power. By collecting, processing and shipping recycled stuff to industrial users requires less energy than mining, refining, processing and shipping natural resources according to Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection. That's a good sight because the more power the United States uses, the more fossil fuels it burns. The higher the fossil fuel use, the more pollutant diligence pumps into the atmosphere. Manufacturing updated news report out of recycled paper requires less energy than making paper out of wood. Production of 100% recycled poster board uses 50 percent less energy compared to virgin grades of paperboard, thus significantly reducing the greenhouse released into the atmosphere. Third, paper recycling leaves more trees standing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Recycling Vs Recycling The first step once every person or at least country is equipped with the money to start making changes is commit to the small stuff. This means recycle your paper, metal, class, and plastic. This is not hard, and you can even get a small amount of money back for some of your recycling. The government could be able to provide incentives for the people in the United States, and in other countries to get them to recycle. This could be as small as coupons to cash back. The next step is for manufacturing companies to quit producing items that will just break down in a few short years and rather start making things that are going to last along time and make them out of the correct materials. Plastic does not decompose but rather sits in a landfill for hundreds of years. We need to eliminate the use of plastic and replace it with a material that will last, and once it is no longer useable it can be recycled again. As a community there needs to be changes made with in each. Transportation needs to be eliminated as much as possible unless you think that it is economically feasible for everyone to drop their old car and spring for the even more expensive electric car. We would have less of a problem with switching from gas to electric if it was possible to find an inexpensive part or make it possible for people to trade in and not pay in full for an electric car. But other means of transportation would not be difficult, you just have to have a system set in place such as steam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Great Recycling Of Recycling Essay The Great Recycling Swindle 1.Introduction Recycling is a common practice around the world to reduce the overall quantity of resources needed to produce new products. Whether recycling is cost effective compared to the benefits is widely an unknown detail. The public while weighing the benefits almost never considers the cost of energy and labor in combination with undesired effects of pollution associated with recycling. 2.Recycling Saves Money Commonly people accept recycling saves money in the process of creating new products that are of a better quality. In some cases, recycling has the potential to do so. Usually when something is made from an uncommon or rare material and able to be reprocessed at a reasonable price. Many things made from different metals fall into this category. The cost of recycling has been pointed out on a political platform, and for the 2003 budget New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed to suspend the recycling program temporarily, to save people $57 million (Logomasini). The average cost to recycle a ton of material can range from $50 up to $240 in some areas. Some of the factors generating the total cost include labor, collection frequency, fuel cost, and cost of energy at the recycling facilities. Meanwhile the cost to haul a ton of garbage to thelandfill can cost about $50 to $150. Which the costs are mainly fuel and labor wages. However, it uses far less fuel to send one truck per week on a route, and it takes less people to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Importance Of Recycling Recycling should be required by all people. There is trash everywhere because of the people that are just throwing the plastic away. Without a recycling place we can't just throw it around the places animals will get harmed from it. Some people just leave it on the ground and it can get smelly around here people would not like that. The animals will start to eat the plastic because it smells good and then they are just going to eat the plastic thing too and can get sick from it. It will go everywhere and ruin the place and then when you are walking there is trash everywhere. Importance Of Recycling And Recycling These days many of people have their own computer especially for university students because they will always need it to do the assignment from their lecturer and now we can find a computer in every house Some even have more than one. However, the problem is when the computer has been used over an extended period of time and sometimes get damaged due to age factor, and also computers can also be damaged caused by viruses as a result of misuse by the owner. If it has happened, it means that the owner t has to go to computer service center to clean up the virus otherwise they waste their computer although the best option is recycling in order to minimize electronic waste. Because According to the United Nations environmental program research data, there is an estimated 49 million metric tons of waste generated from electronic and computer products on an annual basis on a worldwide scale (epickup.co.nz, n.d.). And also, computer equipment contains materials that can be hazardous to human health and the environment if they are not properly managed (Northwestern.edu, n.d.). That is the reason why we need electronic recycle. Electronic recycling means the practice of reusing, or distributing for reuse, electronic equipment and components rather than discarding them at the end of their lifecycle. Nowadays, there are many kinds and methods of recycling that exists in the world especially for electronic devices, namely computers, because computers have a significant role in our ... • 16. The Dangers Of Recycling Human beings are destroying their earth every single day, more now than ever. As technology advances, humans are beginning to speed up the process of ruining their earth. Some even say that by the time this generation's grandchildren are born there will no longer be any more natural resources left for them to survive on. One thing is sure, for this not to happen, humans must begin to take care of their beloved earth. There are many ways to help prevent the problem, but one huge way to prevent it is by recycling. Recycling has had a huge impact on earth already and will continue to if more and more people begin to contribute. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, "Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products." Basically instead of throwing stuff away, you can recycle them and see if you could use them for anything else. There are four major sections of recycling, they're paper, glass, plastic, and metal. According to the Waste Management website, paper makes up 29% or 71 million tons of municipal waste stream. There are many different types of paper that humans can recycle, starting with, magazines, corrugated cardboard, office paper, newspaper, paperboard, paper cardboard diary and juice cartons, unsolicited direct mail, and phone books. Recycling And Recycling Papers 1.According to Recyelingbin.com every ton of paper recycled can save the energy equivalent of 165 gallons of gasoline, 17 trees can absorb a total of 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year, burning that same ton of paper would create 15,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, and the process of recycling paper instead of making it from new materials generates 74% less air pollution and uses 50% less water. Manufacturing recycled paper uses only 60% of the energy needed to make paper from new materials. Recycling refers to reuse of materials either in their changed or their original form instead of regarding them as waste or even throwing them away. Reusing materials or changing their form into new materials has many benefits to the environment as well as contributing in a new way towards our day to day lives. Every member of the society has a responsibility to encourage one another to recycle materials to prevent environmental pollution. For example, recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, and 2 barrels of oil (Recyclingbin.com). This will save the environment for coming generations. Recycling is tasking at times, people in business sector might regard it as an extra cost associated with extra work in separation of reusable materials from the rest of the garbage and an extra job, hence an addition wage. • 18. Recycling Landfills Year after year, demands of consumers and output of products is increasing. As a result, landfills in America are steadily growing and in response, so is the emphasis on recycling. Though recycling has had a positive effect on the environment, it is not a fully sustainable solution to taking care of the billions of tons of waste produced by Americans. As toxins are released and gasses are emitted, the need for a solution to the exponential growth of landfills is prominent. A trending and interesting answer is living a zero waste lifestyle. Though most products come with some variation of packaging, dedicated environmentalists have successfully adopted this habit and hope their efforts will have a visible effect. Municipal solid waste (MSW), more commonly known as garbage or trash, is steadily filling landfills across the United States. Landfills are carefully built disposal facilities for MSW and are designed to keep the waste from contaminating the environment around it (Advanced Disposal Services, 2017). The use of landfills is a two thousand year old tradition, starting in Ancient Rome and becoming popular in the United States in the mid 1950's (Ezban. 2012). There are many factors that contribute to the filling of landfills. Growing population rates, product packaging increases, and consumption rates are to name a few (Shah, et al, 2007). In a recent study it was concluded that "Americans generated about 258 million tons of MSW in 2014, up from the previous peak of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Recycling Is The Method Of Regaining Recycling Essay Recycling is the method of regaining, reprocessing, and reusing materials that would otherwise be thrown away (Opposing Viewpoints in Context 2014). The most commonly recycled materials include paper, glass, plastic, and metals. Materials may be used to make more of its original product or to make something entirely new. For example, recycled aluminum cans are often made into new cans, while recycled class may be made into paving material. Recycling does not always save money immediately, it provides long lasting benefits because it conserves natural resources while saving energy and reducing pollution. Recycling isn't a new concept in the modern era, humans have always been finding new uses for items. However, large scale recycling is a fairly recent trend that gained widespread support in the 1970s when people became more aware of their environmental impact. In this essay, we will be reviewing arguments made by three writers from different backgrounds and their views of recycling. We will analyze what does and doesn't work in their arguments, and if they properly are using ethos, pathos, and logic. Afterwards, I will give my own rebuttal from a perspective of a college student. Recycling is a complicated progression that has been developing throughout the century, and while it falters at times, it is moving towards a better and less wasteful future. More people need to recognize and take recycling seriously, because it can prolong the survival of humanity on Earth. The basic concept of recycling is the process of converting used materials or waste into reusable material for production. It is essential that people start realizing that recycling is necessary now, and going to be more necessary in the future because of the new, higher quality lifestyles people are living. With more people becoming wealthier, more products are being consumed, and as a result more waste is being produced. In addition, the world's increasing population also increases the number of products that could become potential waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both fast food and their packages contain materials that are not perishable, which starts piling up in landfills, creating more pollution. In addition, these different types of waste have more side effects that cause even higher levels pollution. For instance, chemicals and greenhouse gases come from many kinds of waste, and are released into the environment making the levels of pollution very high around landfills ("Recycling is Important"). Instead of becoming waste, materials can be recycled and used again. Therefore, if all these different types of waste are recycled, then it will limit a large amount of pollution in the environment. Using recycling to limit pollution on Earth is also a great reason that demonstrates the benefits of recycling, which shows that it needs more awareness. One of the most recognized and important benefits of recycling is conserving natural resources. Natural resources are the major reasons why the humanity has still survived on Earth, which is why we need to conserve as much as possible. Most people are aware that the main purpose for recycling is to conserve resources, but not many people take it seriously. They do not realize how big of an impact recycling can actually have, so they do not pay much attention to it. Though this is not the case with recycling. (Terry,Beth page 73) On the contrary, the plastic we recycle, does not stay in the U.S.A, we send it to China, to then be used to resell back to us ("Made in China: Our Toxic, Imported Air Pollution"). Not only do we do the main processing, the machines often get clogged with the thin plastic bags, so most of them do not even get to the melting stage. Plastic bags really are just a nuisance, with no positive attributes. Washington D.C. even put a tax on plastic bags, in hopes to reduce the amount being distributed. It worked, but too well. ("No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well.") According to a survey made by councilman Tommy Wells, the use of plastic bags by shoppers has dropped 50% ("No Paper, No Plastic. • 24. Recycling Waste Of Recycling Although recycling of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based plastics decrease the amount of these polymers that end up in municipal waste, the cost of recycling these plastics for the producer are an important factor to weigh in to whether they should be recycled or not. PVC is a soft and flexible plastic used to make clear plastic food wrapping, computer cables, and even pipes and parts for plumbing. Because PVC contains numerous toxins, food products using PVC require virgin material for their construction. In general, there are two types of PVC recycling processes, mechanical and feedstock, which include their own respect costs, purposes, and benefits. Although there are a large number of costs for the producer for recycling PVC from the toxicity to the inefficacy of its recycling process, there are many benefits that include reducing the amount of PVC in municipal waste and its usefulness as a recycled product. In general, virgin PVC itself is already relatively toxic as its main component is vinyl chloride, which is a carcinogen. Once PVC is recycled once, its chemical properties deteriorate, and its toxicity becomes more harmful, meaning its usefulness as a food container product no longer exist. Therefore, recycled PVC cannot be used to its previous full potential lead companies to think whether it is worth it to recycle this polymer. • 25. Impacts Of Recycling Recycling is helping the environment by eliminating waste. Recycling is taking old metal or paper and taking it to a foundry . Giving it back to them to make new products with to save the natural resource that it would take to make it from scratch. If the metal companies had to take and mine for the ore that it takes to make metal they would be hurting the environment a lot worse than what they would by using recycled goods. Recycling metal also helps us the consumer save on the natural resources that we may need later on in life. The best thing about metal are that it will never lose its structural value no matter how many time the consumer recycles it (Green Tumble.) Recycled aluminum can travel around the world four times and still save more energy than what it would to mine for ore (Less Is More). Metal production is a very long and energy consuming process. If we don't recycle and use the materials that we already have then they have to mine for the ore (GLE Scrap). If the companies have to mine for the iron ore that it takes to make the metal they have to go in and cut down acres of trees (GLE Scrap). Then they have to move in all of their equipment in to start the mining process. The mining equipment burns through a lot of petroleum of other wise know as gas or diesel (GLE Scrap). If we were to use the recycled materials then we can save the ore till we really need it (GLE Scrap). Which will cut down on the gases that are burned while mining. Recycling is also ... If you looked in your kitchen in the pantry or under the kitchen sink; you would probably find a significant number of plastic bags stored there. We rarely stop to think about what the proper way to dispose of a plastic bag would be or if there is a proper way to achieve this. Just take a moment to reflect about how much plastic based products are a vital part of our everyday lives. Then ask yourselves, what we as a community, can do to explore methods for the disposal of plastics bags. One option that comes to mind includes contacting your local county representatives to ask about increased recycling or proper disposal opportunities for plastic bags. If recycling plastic bags in your local area is too cost prohibitive, then perhaps there should be a discussion on alternative options the plastic bag. It traveled from Long Island, where the trash came from, down the entire East Coast until it reached Belize. The barge stopped at multiple ports along the way to dump the trash, but was turned away each time. Many people watched the story unfold on the news, and realized how little landfill space the country actually had. People frantically started lowering household waste through recycling what was possible to be recycled instead of throwing it in the trash. This brought us the environmental movement of the late 80's. Some people say the reason the Mobro 4000 wasn't able to dump over 3,000 tons of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) was because they didn't have the appropriate papers filled out to give the barge permission to dump at a particular landfill site. But others are confident the story is true, and hold the argument that the world is limited on how much landfill space there is and abide that something needs to be done sooner than later. Whether someone thinks the story is true or not, it is undeniable that recycling would keep a barge from trying to dump that many tons of trash anytime in the near future. Recyclability Of Recycling Although there are numerous benefits to recycling such as a whole job and market industry and environmental conservation, majority of these benefits cannot be accessed without the participation of the public. Unfortunately, a large majority of the general population does not recycle mostly because of the time it takes to simply sort recyclables or take to a drop–off facility. Therefore, a new system should be put in place and spread to increase the recycling participation to completely access the benefits of recycling and to reach a strong level of sustainability. Thankfully, most people are motivated by money or lack thereof, so a deposit system would motivate more people to recycle by giving them the choice to make their money back and recycle or simply lose money. Additionally, this deposit system would motivate the public because they would simply input a relatively low time cost for a financial reward. Because of these known motivational trends, the deposit system will definitively improve the recycling participation rate leading to increased environmental conservation and a solid level of sustainability. Although the deposit system seems very complicated, it involves a very simple idea with a clear goal of increasing the recycling participation rate. When Americans recycle, it makes a positive difference to the environment. Growing up, there was always recycling bins at school, at public places, and at local businesses that were available 24/7 for people to use. There are many benefits to recycle such as less trash in landfills, resources conservation, energy conservation, environmental conservation, environment protection, and financial benefits. With these benefits come the items that can be recycled like aluminum, plastic bottles, newspaper/paper, and electronics. The first benefit of recycling is it creates less trash in the landfills. Americans throw away approximately 100 million tons of trash per year causing landfills to become scarce and lacking space. Meghan stated in her blog, "According to the EPA, recycling can cut this waste by up to 32 percent, which equates to about 60 million tons of trash." Another benefit would be resource conservation which helps conserve the environment. This benefit helps save the all–important resources like wood pulp from trees, paper, fossil fuels, and plastics. Examples of this would be buying recycled paper or purchasing items that use recycled plastics. • 36. Recycling And Recycling Essay Have you seen how great the sky looks lately? Individually as humans we have been doing a great job in maintaining our environment. Just look at how many more landfills we have compared to recycling plants, It's truly an amazing sight to behold. It is nice to know that all of the materials that could have been reused are going back in the ground where they came from. We are often bombarded with news articles, tv commercials, and social media about how the destruction of the Earth is approaching at a pace faster than before. These are alternative facts. Trees are everywhere. They'd rule the world if it weren't for us. It is difficult to travel for more than ten minutes without seeing a tree. However, self–proclaimed environmentalists get aggravated if you try to cut so much as a single tree without pledging to plant one hundred more! It is a common belief that we are not doing enough for the Earth, but what more could we do? We use the resources we need, and then we put them right back where they came from. Clearly recycling plants and recycling receptacles are being rendered obsolete by the infamous trash bin/landfill combo. They are a huge waste of space. Assuming that we just threw everything away, it would create a considerable amount of space for more practical buildings such as oil refinery's, plastic manufacturing plants, the list goes on to give better alternatives for taxpayer dollars. Many people do not even recycle, because they know that trash or recycle it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Recycling Plan For A Comprehensive Recycling Program EXECUTIVE SUMMARY We live in a time of limited financial resources within our communities. Most prominent is the structural deficit. We, the community club members, believe that one way of addressing the structural deficit is with the implementation of a comprehensive reuse, reduce and recycling program. Our community recycling proposal concerns one aspect of such a comprehensive recycling program. Our proposal is to help our community club house save money while generating new revenue, expanding the existing recycling program, and to build a sense of community. This proposal was prepared by clubhouse meetings, research, and substantial continued community support. This proposal is designed to answer the following questions, would a recycling program make sense, what a recycling program look like, and how would it work to fit within our community? Finally, the proposal will state the need for a one person coordinating effort to oversee the greening of the community club house. INTRODUCTION Recycling is defined as the separation of salvageable items from composite trash. Recycling is a crucial part of environment sustainability. Benefits from proper recycling systems are obvious, as the life of consumer products are extended beyond one use. By replacing a new product with a used product, raw material usage is minimized as well as the intermittent pollution associated with production. In addition, the re–used product is diverted from becoming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Benefits Of Recycling Recycling Research Paper What exactly is recycling you may ask? Recycling is an act to transform waste into a reusable material, returning the material to its previous stage in a cycle process, making it able to use again with a total different usage. It is the collecting and processing of materials that are thrown away as trash and turned it into new product. There are benefits to the act of recycling and also is a three step process to make the continuous cycle happen. There is also question as to what is recycling's key purpose, how does it really affect the environment, and how does the USA compare to other countries over the world when recycling is involved? There are multiple benefits of recycling which many people feel are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Step 3 is the buying of new products made of the recycled resources that can either be easily recycled and some that may contain recycled content. Some that can be found while out shopping include common products like egg cartons, trash bags, and motor oil. Recycling has a few key purposes and huge environmental impacts including the following: reducing landfill waste, helps with natural resource savings, saves forest and other habitats, reduce energy consumption, decreases pollution, and reduces global warming. Landfills cause huge environmental problems because they are often filled with waste products that aren't biodegradable, so with recycling in place, those items are able to be removed and made into something useful instead of stay and emitting harmful gases to the environment. Recycling an abundant amount of material can replace the use of other natural resources. For example, recycled office paper can save "17 trees, 7 thousand gallons of water, 463 gallons of oil, and 3 cubic yards of landfill space." Forest and other habitats are saved when paper, newspapers, etc. are being recycled because doing so millions of tress don't have to be chopped down. Energy consumption can be reduced with plastics, metals, or paper being sorted properly and recycled. Less energy is needed to recycle a product then to recreate from scratch and recycling can reduce energy use from the most energy intensive materials. Pollution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Rebel Recycling INTRODUCTION: The act of recycling has been and is very influential around the world for the last decade, where global warming is not easily seen on news headline; strongly encouraged for all people, especially strongly advised to recycle in the United States. Recycling plastic and other reusable materials are a process that takes decades to have at least half of the world's population to get involved; however Nevada started to show advances to recycling, with investments from industries, universities or schools, and individuals. Hotels on the Las Vegas Stripand diverse population of students have promoted recycling exceedingly, which encouraged and still is encouraging out–of–state recycling industries to take a step further in recycling ... As mentioned, Rebel Recycling is foundational with the Three R aspects to build up their duties: "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" (University of Nevada, Las Vegas [UNLV], 2015). Rebel Recycling was founded by a UNLV student in 1995, where it started as a class project. However the program converted into an organization, with the approval of the Boards of Regents, that it would be a worth to keep. Subsequently, the first year resulted in a saving of recyclable materials of around two to three tons each week; but ever since the third year, the numbers grew of recycling around three to four tons of materials each day. Hence, this organization's achievement rewarded them with becoming noticed as part of the Custodial Department at UNLV. Even nowadays, the Rebel Recycling organization works to save energy and water, be a steward model and supports Nevada's recycling projects. They have also laid out their mission where they long to be an exquisite source of recycling and to administer Nevada's environment. To become a leading group, they have participated events to support, not only Nevada's but a nationwide charity for the earth and our people. They are well known to be involved in activities, like: Earth Day, Drive Up Drop Off (DUDO), Christmas tree recycling and being in charge of UNLV's recycling projects. Through these events, Rebel Recycling expressed their value to set good examples and high expectations to the environmental facilities. This organization is well–structured and systematized for convenient and easy workflow: main station or office, customer services, chemical specialties, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Importance of Recycling Today we have a serious problem with pollution, resulting not only soil contamination, environmental, noise or air, we can significantly reduce this impact all being aware and knowing that recycling is reuse; if we make a daily habit will give more life to our planet. On the other hand, if we see further recycling is environmental sustainability and if done properly would take advantage of a more effective way of natural resources. But really know what is recyclable? Is a physical–chemical or mechanical process is to submit to a substance or a product already used to a cycle of total or partial treatment for a commodity or a new product. Could also be defined as the raw materials from waste, introducing them back into the cycle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MELTING OF THE POLES Several articles and news as we have shown the poles have been melting, we do not realize the ecological impact that our Earth is suffering, we call home, how animals suffer for the loss of their natural habitat There are already endangered species and endangered species, all animals, plants or even microbes and bacteria are necessary for the life cycle, and we by pure consumerism are destroying the basics for human existence. POLLUTED CITY FULL OF GARBAGE For our way of life in cities tend to consume too many products and use all means of transportation much easier, even small distances. We have not seen the massive amounts ofpollution we put into our environment, in the air, the ground where trash is stored, the water is poisoned with chemicals given off by the trash in large quantities, even with noise! In conclusion I can say that recycling is an effective way to help nature replenish the natural resources to end the excessive amount of garbage, pollution of our environment and improving health as an alternate benefit. It is a basic process we should use at home, is a habit we should have from small, the
