As the Cold War continued to drag on, came the rise of McCarthyism; where Americans ranging from the public to politicians accused one another of
being a communist. For politicians being called a communist or being labeled as "soft on communism" was very detrimental to careers.

Introduction
As climate change and global warming remain some of the most debated topics in the contemporary social and political spheres, there is need to
establish the leading causes of these global phenomena. To date, climate change scientists have differed on the causes of climate change, with one
faction holding that climate change is natural and another one arguing that human activities are the primary drivers of climate change (Crowley, 286).
More recent studies have embraced a softer stance on the climate change debate by concurring that both natural and human events contribute
significantly to increase of the earth's average temperature. Nevertheless, the ongoing discussion of the causes of climate change raises severe
concerns since life on planet earth depends heavily on the energy that comes from the sun. Usually, some of the heat that comes from the sun reaches
the earth, where it is absorbed by greenhouse gases to help in maintaining a life–supporting temperature. About 10% of heat is reflected back to the
atmosphere before reaching the earth's surface (Ball, 279). The change in climate, which is also popularly known as global warming, is as a result of
excessive heat being trapped in the earth's atmosphere.

The current social and political climate in Australia is the corollary of the postmodern age and globalisation. Postmodernity ushered in the notion of
multiplicity, the destruction of universal truths and hybridity of identity and, "a more chaotic social landscape full of fluid identities and diverse social
groups," (Ward, 2003, p. 174). This was in stark contrast to the homogeneity of modernity. Modernity was built upon the concepts of universal truths,
utopian visions and rationalism. This destruction of universal truths and the concept of multiple truths as its replacement is deeply threatening to those
communities who perceive postmodernity as an attempt to destroy their mode of being, and indeed their identity. The validity of multiple truths
requires acceptance and tolerance by society, and a willingness to accede 'your truth' may not be the only truth. This is none more apparent than in the

For example, in chapter eight of Animal Farm, Orwell writes, " They thought the Fifth Commandment was 'No Animal shall drink alcohol,' but there

it was assumed that the pigs were drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Which, was something that was not allowed in the Seven Commandments. But,

Rhetorical Analysis of Leonardo DiCaprio's Speech As debates surrounding climate change have grown in recent times, especially with Donald
Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, many environmentalists have evidently viewed his deed as a call to action. In today's world,
environmental change has been glossed over simply for the fact that some disagree upon its existence. In turn, other well known figures have taken
matters into their own hands; as a strong believer in climate change himself, famous actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio gave a powerful
speech in front of the United Nations (UN) Climate summit. Through use of the rhetorical triangle, the three appeals, the patterns of development, and
SOAPSTone, DiCaprio presents his speech effectively to his audience. DiCaprio includes several appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos throughout his
speech to convey that environmental problems need resolution. Although he is not a scientist, DiCaprio builds his ethos through saying, "I am not a
scientist, but I don't need to be." He recognizes that resolving environmental damage doesn't have to fall in the hands of only the science community.
Therefore, he takes initiative by presenting himself as a concerned human being with only the thought of making the Earth cleaner. Additionally, he uses
logos by stating not only facts but also bringing attention to information that should already be obvious. After talking about way to improve our
environment through economy, he states, "The economy will die if our ecosystems collapse." As the economy relies on the environment for it's
resources that later facilitate trade, only a healthy environment can maintain a steady economy. In addition, DiCaprio uses pathos throughout his
speech to invoke fear and guilt. Most notably in his speech, he states, "And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation..."
He points out that despite knowing the Earth is changing in a negative way, people would rather choose to fight each other instead of tackle the

Resources throughout the United States are being exhausted an alarming rate. In fact, "95% of the original forests in the United States are now gone"

A "single story" to Adiche is a lack of authenticity about a group of people or a place. Growing up in a middle–class family in Nigeria, Adiche had an
authentic view of Nigeria and Nigerian people because she experienced the diversity of her culture every day. That being said, when she began to

As Americans, we tend to pin conservatism and liberalism as ideologies, but in fact they are just terms we have used for one hundred years to describe
where someone's ideology falls within the spectrum. This underlying phenomenon makes me believe, at first, that this article was written for people

Climate change is a major issue that has been gaining political debate over the past few decades. According to Britain's former Chief Scientific
Advisor David King, climate change is "the most severe problem we are facing today–more serious even than the threat of terrorism"

Trade Pattern, Direction and Composition of Trade Brazil 's economic history has been influenced by foreign trade patterns and policies. Before
World War II, exports were largely in commodities such as sugar, gold, diamonds and rubber. Coffee played a major role in the Brazilian development
but Brazil was negatively impacted by the 1929 recession and as a result coffee demand was lowered. From 1929–1931, the demand did not rebound
and Brazil spent $63 million in destroying its coffee oversupply. Brazil then required reduction in Brazilian imports post 1929 to initiate industrial
growth. This was specifically centered on SГЈo Paulo. In the late 1950's, Brazil introduced a new tariff structure and its application favored domestic
producers of manufactured consumer goods. The protection was great enough to completely eliminate competing imports from the Brazilian market.
Brazil then modified its trade policies subsequent the defeat of the Goulart government in 1964. The government moved quickly to eliminate some of
the restrictions on Brazilian trade. It also provided special incentives for exports and tariff cuts. Overtime, the Brazilian imports increased, due to
