2. Process
When doing my experiments I have tried to create a
cartoon effect in photoshop. To do this I got an image of
the internet and used the lasso polygon tool and drew
round the image in this case an arm. I chose this tool
because I could easily select or go round an area and fill it. I
chose this tool instead of the quick selection tool or the
magic wand due to them selecting the wrong areas and
they also take a while to use. I would then after going
round the whole image fill it with a colour mainly the
existing one , this is to give it a cartoon effect. I also went
on the filter gallery on photoshop and selected cut-out ,
this gives it a slightly different cartoon effect. I included the
colour gold quite often due to it having connotations of
wealth and class , this is also one of the conventions of the
genre.

3. When creating my products in this case the tour poster and magazine cover I decided on a grey color to
include in these products. This is because I feel that most colors stand out on the color especially black and
white. This was also as the artist would stand out and wouldn't’t look strange , for example if I included the
same artist on a yellow background it may be more appealing however the artist would look out of place.
Another reason why included this color was as I wanted to keep my products simplistic , this is so that
there would be a wider audience range. When doing this I also thought that I would include similar artists
due to that being my favorite genre , this would be artists such as drake , lil yatchy and 21 savage. Also
when creating this I thought that it would be very necessary to include the conventions , this being the
style , the fonts and the language. When completing this I thought that the colors as well as the writing
when quite well however I feel that I could have included more. To do this I will have to use the text tool
and possibly use Microsoft office so that my text is all spelt correctly and make sense. Also when creating
these products I decided to include simplistic language. To do this I didn't’t really include any big words.

4. • When completing these experiments I ultimately tried to include the connotations and
features of teenage audience. I also aimed to create 3 experiments which included rap icons.
• When doing these products I wanted to create a rap inspired album cover , tour poster and
magazine. To do this I would have to: firstly look at professional finished products and do
similar to them. I would also have to go on Photoshop and edit the image and include the
color or colors which I would have to include. I would then finally have to include the fonts ,
to do all this I would have to select individual tools for example the text tool and the the
color bucket tool were used. The polygon tool was also a big part of my work. Finally when
doing these experiments I tried to use different fonts however I tried to keep them all similar
, this is because large bold fonts are used very often within these products for example In 21
savages album covers he includes large fonts so that the audience can clearly see them.

5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• One element I will include in my final product Is a cartoon graphic. This is because this is
frequently used in rap covers as well as tour posters due to them looking good as well as
sticking out. I will do this by using the polygon tool. Another element I will include in my final
product is a short one worded title this is because most albums nowadays feature 1 or 2
words instead of a sentence. When doing my tour poster I will also include a short title on my
tour poster , possibly a line long. Another element I will include is a clear colour scheme for
example colours that don’t blend in together and cant be seen , for example a black
background and a black title. Another element I will include in my tour poster will be include
the prices as well as the dates , this is because the audience can understand when the tour is
and how much it is. This is also one of the connotations of a tour poster. Another element I
will include is the same type of layout , this is because this layout is very common when doing
an album cover. Finally I will include a close up of the artist , this is because then the
audience can clearly see who the artist is. To do this I will copy and paste an image into
Photoshop.
