This document describes the design of an adaptive travel cup that can heat or cool beverages. The travel cup uses a graphite heating coil, polyurethane insulation, and a thermistor temperature sensor to heat water to 80 degrees Celsius within 4 minutes when powered by a car charger. It can maintain the water at 52 degrees Celsius for an extended period. Simulations were conducted in MATLAB to optimize the design parameters. The travel cup provides a portable way to access hot or cold drinks during travel while reducing plastic waste from water bottles.
