Reaction Paper on Curriculum
The course SPED 507 uses various techniques, such a more practice or explanation,
repeating the information and devoting more time to working on the skills, our teacher Dr.
Marian B. Alaba guides each student through the educational process.
This course refreshes some of our knowledge in making individualized instruction.
Some of the most common of these are individualized instruction, problem solving
assignments and working in small groups. If a student needs special accommodations to take
a test, special education teachers provide the appropriate assistance, such as extending the
time needed to take the test or reading the questions aloud. Special education instructors
help to organize an Individualized Education Program (IEP)for each student. The IEP sets goals
geared specifically for each student’s needs and ability.
Also this course recalls the domain that must be involved in the students' behavioral,
social, and academic development, helping the students develop emotionally, feel
comfortable in social situations, and be aware of socially acceptable behavior. Special
education teachers communicate and work together with parents, social workers, school
psychologists, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, school administrators,
and other teachers.
Reaction on Physical Environment
FSUU did great on improving accommodations of students for master’s program.
Classrooms were fully air-condition and soundproof to minimize unnecessary noise to prevent
interruption on discussions. Well, the proximity of our classrooms from the gate is very far
and it consumes more or less 20 min to arrive, but it’s more on to exercise and good for the
health.
The rooms are good because it provides ample chairs for students to work on, but I
haven’t seen any chair that is intended for the left handed like me. A university that is now
nationally known for its academic excellence should have at least a basic knowledge on
accommodating simple differences among students especially the left handed because they
only comprise least numbers and can’t be considered majority who can request for another
sets for them. It addresses university’s sensitivity to individual differences.

Mrs. Marian B. Alaba, the SPED 507 professor did great job for enhancing our
knowledge in curriculum making for CSN. Her expertise is exemplary to us SpEd teachers in
Agusan del Norte since there are no available teachers in proximity to train us in the skill for
assessing CSN.
Her tools she lend us greatly helped our career to give just assessment that our
students might not fall on disproportionality of assessment. She explained and elaborated
well on major topics we need to know.
Her experience inside and outside the country are really inspiring. She inspires us to
further research for development on our capacityto handle CSN and giverightful intervention
that are reachable and attainable. Her guidance for us is very motivating as she always
rewards us intrinsically and gives a deadline that are very flexible to insure quality of outputs.
For that great contribution we give Maam Marian a 2 thumbs up.

I really enjoy this class because it’s a lot more fun having Reyma, Hannah, Dimple and
Jessa as classmates. I really feel the beauty on how it is to collaborate with colleagues
especially we are in the same Government Agency of DepEd. Our correlated experiences did
encourage us to really dig further for the betterment of service we could offer as public
servants.
Hence, the working atmosphere of our team really pushes the best in us. We helped
on consultations in our class reports, individual portfolio and the creation of IEP for a specific
Child on study. There were no problems in our class that we couldn’t solve. We brainstorm
on most advantageous strategy to craft effective IEP, Recommendations, Teaching Priorities,
Developmental and Academic Assessment; though we get not a higher marks but we did it
due to cooperation without copyright infringements.
I rate this team a 5 grade out of 5 due to unrelenting cooperation.
