Title : Speech Festival 2015
Proponents : BSED-III English Students
Theme : “Effective Language Teaching Through Literary
Events”
Scope : BSED-III English Students

I-Rationale :
In line with the objectives prescribed in Bachelor of Secondary Education
Major in English to learn language skills and proficiencies through relevant language
activities and competencies with respect to cognitive, affective and psychomotor
learning domains. English 16 (The Teaching of Speaking) focuses on speaking
competencies and as part of the curriculum, the students are required to conduct an
activity in response to the subject requirement. Hence, Speech Festival 2015 is
proposed to showcase various speaking events and skills through literary and
language contexts.
II-Objectives:
This activity aims to:
1. Encourage BSED-III English students to participate and showcase their
speaking skills and abilities.
2. Develop skills and competencies in language and literary events.
3. Perform different literary events.
III-Description of the Activity:
1. This activity will be participated by the BSED-III English students of the
University.
2. This activity will be conducted in response to English 16 (The Teaching of
Speaking) in BSED-English Curriculum.
3. This activity is not a competition among BSED-III English students but rather
a presentation of talents and skills in literary events. Hence, the reading of the
critteria of each of the literary events is emphasized. (Please see program).

4. The literary pieces to be used of this presentation are coming from the
participants.
5. The various committees involved of this event are the BSED-III English
students.
6. This activity will award Certificate of Participation to all BSED-III English
students participated in the event.
7. The events to be presented are categorized in Individual and Group
Events.Individual presentation includes oration, storytelling, declamation,
poetry interpretation and extemporaneous speech while the group
presentation includes translation, talk show, news casting and jazz chant.
8. Each of the events is guided by a rubric.
