The document analyzes the digipacks of three albums:
- Maverick Sabre's "Lonely are the brave" which depicts the artist with a sad facial expression, indicating a sad, slow mood for the album reinforced by the black and white color scheme and title.
- Giggs' "When will it stop" shows the artist holding a microphone against a dark background, suggesting a dark, heavy sound and his desire to succeed beyond his rough upbringing.
- The Game's "OKE" has a similar dark, cracked visual style to Giggs' album, implying a dark, heavy sound through the black and white imagery with only the artist standing out.
2. Maverick Sabre – Lonely are the brave
The Black and white colour
scheme gives us an indication
that the album will consist of
slow songs. It also suits the
name of the album; ‘Lonely are
the brave’ because the word
‘lonely’ has depressing and sad
connotations.
The album shows us who
the artist is by showing us
an image of him. His facial
expressions give us an
indication that the general
mood of the album will be
sad and slow.
There’s a sort of fancy
font which helps show
that this music belongs
to a fancy soulful
genre.
The casual clothing
he is wearing
indicates that he is
likely to be part of
the working class and
will probably be
wearing casual
clothing in any videos
made for songs in the
album.
3. Giggs – When will it stop
The background image gives
us an indication that the
album will have a dark mood.
It also helps to show the
intention of the artist which is
to be the most dominant in his
music genre. However it
could also suggest that he’s
trying to show the rough
environment he comes and he
wants to come out from it
using music.
We get a sense of this through
the prop he holds in his hand
which is a microphone.
The font also helps to
give an indication of
the general mood of
the album. It suggests
the the music will be
dark and heavy.
The clothes he is
wearing contrasts with
the images in the
background. However
we do still get the
impression that he
wants to come out of
where he comes from
and be successful.
4. The Game - OKE
The images in this cover is similar to
the images used in the last album I
have analysed. We get an indication
that the general mood of the album
will be dark and heavy.
The font of the title is
similar to the image on the
cover. Everything is broken
up and cracked. It helps to
show the mood of the
album.
Everything is in
black and white
except for the
artist himself.
This is effective
as it helps him to
stand out.
