1. This is the first wide shot I have displayed. I have decided to use this wide shot as it is one of the only wide shot we have present in the video which shows the band. It is a white wash, which means we can help the band stand out from everything else within the video as it is such a contrast. This is the only way we can see the band as a whole. Singers have close ups of them all the time but as this is a techno based song it is all about the music and a few lyrics are present. This means that the image of the band is extremely important and so the idea of using special effect lighting would draw away form the band so a white wash is used instead. This also gives a heavenly style look which is not what we intended but it means that he band look like the most important part of the video as they are the creators, they are the stars.
2. This is a close up shot of out lead singer in our dry ice room. I used this shot as it shows the star image as spoken about by Richard Dyer. The low lighting scene of the singer gives the dark mysterious feel linking to the techno, club feel which relates to our upbeat, heavy bass song which gives of the impression of a club and technological theme. This helps to portray the fact that this singer is important and his look was very important in the way we want our video to look. This also helps us link to the performance element of the video which is important as music videos tend to go against the idea of narrative. Keith Negus has identified this approach as being typical of an organic ideology to creativity, which privileges the development of inherent musical talent.
3. I have chosen a screen shot of the lasers which helped to portray the use of technology within our video to create a visually appealing effect. We used the lasers to add into the lighting theme of the video which plays a very important role within the video. A lot of the high end, popular music videos these days use the idea of lighting to create the desired effect wanted, and use it as way to get people to remember what they have seen. We want this to become a well known and popular artist and song so using the same features such as lasers and special effect lighting means that we can show of their talent and money implying that they have already done well for themselves.
4. The UV room is where we really show of with the special effects and lighting techniques we created to grab the attention of the target audience. We had to make the dancers look special in their own way which makes them stand out as they are the second most important thing in the video. We felt that UV would be unique and special and would mean we could not only highlight the dancers but literally highlight their figures and the their bodies within the scene. We link the idea of dancing as the sex appeal for the male audience with UV and patterns that could potentially attract the female techno audience.
5. Here is a screen shot of our slow motion shot of the UV drum. This incorporates the use of highly effective, state of the art technology such as the cameras used. The use of more special effects within the video using UV paint and UV canons help us grab the attention to the younger viewers who seek the popular style of the videos today which are created using light as well as sound to grab the much needed attention of their target audience. The unique look of UV paint enables us to play a unique role with every part of our product including the CD cover and poster which helps us keep viewers attention.
6. Here is the back cover of the CD cover we made for our band. Being a techno/technology based song and video we had to relate the CD cover to that theme. We played with the images on Photoshop to finally decided that the UV dancer and the pulse line across the top would be a good way to link the video (UV dancer) and technology (pulse) and then the text of the song titles bring in the image of the band. Here the use of the UV dancer and the 3 layer pulse effect on the back cover helps us link that theme into the cover. The style of the writing illustrates the techno and beaty music that our video is promoting. This all helps give the band an image and the CD cover has to be able to pull the intended target audience in towards the product.
7. The poster is one of the main ways of promoting the video as well as the band themselves. We had play on the theme of our band and so the use of a techno look was key in order to portray the correct image to its viewers and drive them on to look at and by the video and CD. We tried to use the same theme of text style on the poster that we did on the CD cover which is acts as another way to link the poster with the CD cover to help the audience make a connection.
