This document discusses how a media product conforms to conventions and stereotypes. It describes how the magician and assistant uphold the stereotype of male magicians with attractive female partners. It also conforms to stereotypes by dressing the assistant in white to represent innocence, and dressing the magician in a top hat, waistcoat and bow tie so he is easily recognizable. It aims to conform to expectations of thrillers and horrors by placing the innocent girl in a situation where the audience assumes something bad will happen.

2. Here we have conformed to the stereotypical Magician and His assistant. This upholds the stereotype that magicians are men with glamorous and attractive assistants. As we see below -

3. Here we put Ellie (the girl on the right) in a white dress to represent innocence and purity. This conforms to the stereotypical young innocent girl in most thrillers / horrors.

4. Above we have again conformed to the stereotypical magician. Top Hat, waistcoat and bow tie. We did this so people would easily recognise that he is a magician

5. When the audience see the girl enter the box they instantly assume that something bad is going to happen. They instantly assume so because it is a thriller / horror. The light is deliberately reflected onto the girl, again to highlight her innocence and purity.
