New Line Cinema and The Weinstein Company Film Distribution Idents
1.
2. • Is an American film studio founded in 1967 by
Robert Shaye as a film distribution company,
later becoming an independent film studio.
• It first became a subsidiary of Turner
Broadcasting, then Time Warner in 1996 and
was merged with larger studio Warner Bros. in
2008.
3. New Line cinema distributes a variety of films (some examples shown above).
They distribute a romance e.g. The Notebook to a thriller like Se7en. This
shows how the distribution film ident needs to be basic so that it can fit in with
all of these different genres which it does. The company ident is white with
bold capital writing saying the name and then above there is a basic film tape. I
think this is a successful company/film ident as it is not too basic but only
contains simple features, which will be easier and simpler for the audience to
look at so it will appeal to them more.
4.
5. • Is an American mini –major film studio
founded by Bob and Harvey Weinstein in 2005
after the brothers left Miramax Films which
they co-founded in 1979.
• They retained ownership of the Dimension
Films label of Miramax. It is one of the largest
mini-major film studios in North America.
6. The Weinstein Company distributes a variety of different genres from romance to
drama/action.
Overall by researching these two idents that I have it has helped me and my group have
a better idea of what we want our ident to look like. As a group we have discussed that
we would like to have a basic ident but at the same time we want it to be eye catching
so that the audience will remember it. Also having a black/white bold ident links into
our film I t links into our film as our film has a cold thriller element which will be
projected through the colour scheme of our ident.
7. • In this company ident a small colour
scheme is used which is silver and
black. This makes the ident look very
professional, smart and sophisticated.
The gives the company a good image
as having a professional ident will
make them look better to the
audience making them seem like a
trustworthy company.
• This also links to the types of films
they sponsor such as the ‘The King’s
Speech’ and ‘The Butler’.
• The ident links to these as they are
drama films which are realistic which
is portrayed through the ‘basic’
company ident.
