JRS Media Productions is a small, independent production company formed by students whose names begin with J, R, and S. They chose the name because it is easy to remember and say. Their logo is simple with black and grey colors to look professional for their thriller genre film. As an independent company, they have a limited budget from their own funds and may use crowd-funding sites. They will distribute their film online through sites like YouTube and Facebook since they are independent. Their film is similar to Psycho and Hide & Seek in that the antagonist has a split personality, most closely resembling Hide & Seek where the protagonist is also the antagonist.

and why?

2. Our company name is JRS Media Productions. Rosie came up with the name and
is just our first initials combined together. We tried it multiple ways round (e.g.
“RJS”, “SJR”, “JSR” etc.) but felt “JRS” was quicker and easier to say. Whilst the
production name isn‟t catchy, how easy it is to say can be effective in making
our audience remember that name. We also had a class member joke that it
sounded like “JLS” and other people might end up doing the same and will help
our audience to remember our production company name. We think this to be
true because the target audience we aim to appeal to are very likely to know of
the band and some may even listen to them.
We wanted our logo to be simple. We considered all sorts of colours, such as
red, but felt black and grey looked professional and would fit in well with our
thriller genre.

Most production companies are either owned or under
a contract with film studio, entertainment company or
a media conglomerate. However some production
companies can be entirely independent.

5. A distribution company carries out the process
of making the final product available for
consumption. This means getting the product
to the target audience. With major film releases
this would mean first releasing the film to
cinemas and then to blu-ray and DVD in the
future. In our case, because this is an
independent film, we would distribute our film
online via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and
other sites. We could also distribute our
product at film festivals.

7. As we are a small independent company, we have a very
limited capital and spending budget. The funds for our
project would come from our own members‟ bank accounts.
It is due to us being a small independent production
company that would make it highly unlikely that we would
receive any investments from a bank, for example.
However we could use the website “Kickstarter” in order to
fund our project. It works through „crowd funding‟ where a
filmmaker, musician etc. is funded by people on the net
where they then provide a non-financial reward for their
funding. We could always use this site to fund our project as
well as work other jobs to maximise our budget.

8. In our titles we decided to start with the director Sam. We did
this because some films put the director either first or very
early and the role of the director is very important. The director
guides the actors and camera team to do what they want them
to do. They are responsible for how the film looks, what the
audience sees is down to the director. We felt the role of the
director was most important.
We then chose to have the cinematographer, Rosie, next. We
did this because without someone on the camera there would
be no film. Plus it would have looked awkward to introduce my
name, the leading role, and then the cinematographer.
Then finally I was introduced because I was the leading role.

9. Our film is very similar to the
films “Psycho” and “Hide &
Seek.” Ours is similar to
“Psycho” because the
antagonist killed their mother
and is how they developed a
split personality. However, I
feel “Hide & Seek” is much
more similar because the
protagonist is also the
antagonist in the film.
“Hide & Seek” was distributed
by 20th Century Fox and
“Psycho” was distributed by
Universal.
