1. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?
By Niyi Adeaga
2. Our company name and what we do
• As a group we are called yard production. Our name
came about first from deciding the genre of film –
crime. We also decided that as a group we will be
filming within the rougher areas of the country. With
this in mind, we found that slang is often used in areas
like this, so we thought by including slang in the name
of our production company – “Yard” would mean that
it would have a direct correlation to the type of
opening we have created.
• The role of a production company is to help create the
film in terms of financing and scripting the movie.
3. Who might distribute our film
• Through my research I have found that big media conglomerates
such as news Corp or paramount, would not choose to distribute
our film. This is due the fact that they tend to distribute films that
come from big names and have very large spending budgets,
meaning this method is not particularly accessible for our film, as
we had a very limited spending budget. However a independent
film company such as patch work productions may be much more
willing to distribute our film, as it is similar to there own film, in the
way that, it is shot with a really low budget. Also conglomerate
tend to have similar story lines which restricts creativity, within the
film. Whereas being independent it allows us to not follow the
traditional crime storyline and become different to the other films
out there.
4. Where would the money for a film like
this come from.
• Our film will be distributed by an independent film company
such as patchwork productions or coffee films. The funding
for the film will be received through a variety of way. One
way would be via the BFI (British film Industry). This is a
organisation that fund for most of the British films out on the
market and help them get off the ground and succeed in
many ways. Also the national lottery donate some money
towards independent companies and also contibute to the
success if some films.
5. Titles within our opening
The titles in our opening sequence reflect the different roles
and jobs that were undertaken by each member of our group.
E.g filmed by Amber Fancourt and Sophie Cramer. throughout
our opening sequence we put the titles in order of
importance to least importance. As a group we thought that
this was really important and thought this was a recurring
theme throughout other film openings
