The film Minority will tell the story of 17-year-old Cassius, who lives in Northeast London with his mother and two sisters. Struggling financially and at college, Cassius begins dealing drugs in an attempt to earn money for his family. The film will show his daily struggles as a lower-class teenager without opportunities and his efforts to support his family, though his life may be put at risk. The opening scene will depict Cassius splitting his time between schoolwork and a drug deal through a split-screen technique, showing the contrasts in his life. The film Shifty influenced the directors for its similar plot about a teenage drug dealer and inclusion of relevant themes.
3. Minority
• We chose the name minority for our film
• This is because our film is based around the
ways lower class young teenagers live their
life.
• The main character in our film turns to
becoming a drug dealer because of the lack of
money him and his family have.
4. Description of key characters
• Cassius, A 17 year old Teenage boy living in
North East London with his mum and 2
younger sisters.
• He is struggling at college and starts to go
down a path in the hope to bring in some
money for himself and family.
• His family do not know the type of ways
5. A brief outline of what will happen in
the whole film
• A true showing of the daily struggles of how
people and families battle with the challenges
of being a lower class teenager without
education. Trying to bring in as much money
as possible although only getting so far before
his life is nearly turn back upside down.
6. An outline of what you will include in
your opening
• Our opening will be showing a teenage boy,
doing work then his phone rings and he must
go do a deal, this shows the 2 worlds
contrasting each other. We’re going to do a
split screen like in Mesrine Killer Instinct and
have titles on the black part of he screen and
either the character from different view s or
different characters in his contrasting worlds.
7. Which films and opening sequences
have influenced you and why?
The film Shifty has influenced us because it has a similar plot to
our chosen film. They will both have a crime aspect to the film. It
also includes key points with will appear in our film too. The
story line is based on drugs in Shifty and in our film it does this
as well. Our film is slightly different in the sense that the whole
film is based on one drug deal and the aspects of it whereas
Shifty have various drug deals.
