ENGLISH/ HINDI/GUJARATI/SANSKRIT
 Part I
• Composition –
   -content
   -way of expression
    -vocabulary
     -flow of ideas / thoughts
      ( i.e. introduction,body, conclusion)
• COMPREHENSION
• Set pattern of evaluation for answering
  questions
• Precis ( word limit, expression should be
correctly done)( 8 to 10 marks)
• Word meaning ( 1 mark each)
• GRAMMAR
• 1 mark each for transformation ( active to
  passive ,preposition/verb carry 1 mark,in
  board)
• In lower classes ½ marks can be for the same
LETTER
   Address ( ½ marks)
Date: 5th September,2011( ½ mark)
Salutation(Dear Sir),( ½ mark)
         expression (5 marks)
          content ( 2 ½ marks)

Subscription;
   (Yours sincerely), ( ½ mark)
   (Name) ( ½ mark)
( separate marks need not be shown)
( even an averagely written letter with correct
format can fetch 5 ½ out of 10)
LITERATURE Paper II
• The facts carry maximum marks
• Board allocates 90 % for facts and
• 10 % for language/ spelling
• 1 mark is deducted for four spelling
• One spelling wrongly written many times will
  be penalized only once.
• Concept clarity and ability to communicate
  should be the top priority.
MATHS
• If formula is correct give half mark always , for 1 mark
  question
• For each step marks should be pre decided ( if a child
has done few steps correctly then marks has to be
  given)
• If the method of solving is correct but the last answer is
wrong then ½ mark should be deducted
• ½ mark to be deducted if unit is wrongly written
• If the numerical is solved by substituting wrong values
and procedure is correct, then some mark should be
  given.
• For geometrical construction it should be mentioned in
the question itself to ‘write the steps.’
SCIENCE
• Technical terms should be used in all the answers.
( formation of sentence can be changed)
• Type of short answer questions that can be asked
 i) True and false , if false correct it,
ii)select odd one out,
Iii) match the following
iv) Fill ups.
• Rewriting the statement in true/false, fill up and match the following is
     compulsory.
• If the question to select odd from the following, then justification should
be given with the answer ( if it is not given then no marks should be
     given.)
• MCQ should be avoided
• Fill ups should be given in twisted form
    Eg ear…………… auditary nerve then
              eye……………..?? ( answer optic nerve)
• Valency, formula , balancing complete equation ( 1 mark each)
• If the balancing equation is not reduced to simplest ratio then no
marks, in lower classes some marks may be deducted.
• If the chemical formula is not written correctly then do not give any mark
at all . Eg Write chemical formula of Ammonium Chloride.
                       ( NH4)2 CO3
  But if child writes NH4CO3
Do not give marks at all
• Diagrams to be drawn only with pencil( whereas in physics some times
rough diagram is needed to solve the question which can be drawn with
  pen)
• In case of differences or similarities between two things both the points
should be correct, if either of the points is incorrect ,then do give any
  mark to that point.
• The use of words like element/compound should be checked, deduct
some marks if wrongly used ( shows the clarity of concept)
• In lower classes spellings of technical term should be considered , so that
  they are trained properly.
• In physics direction of incident beam, direction of current in the circuit
  should be shown.
HISTORY AND CIVICS
• If in an answer concepts are right but technical terms are not
  written the deduct half mark
• If self explanatory statement is there then statement is not
  required:
        eg What is ordinance?
ordinance is self explanatory law. ( mark can be given)
But if the child, writes ordinance can be issued by president when
both the houses are not in session ( here no key word then half
  mark can be deducted.
• Three points to be written for three marks,to the point( with
  explanation for long answers.)
• Look for the quality answer not quantity
• Some marks should be awarded if the child has written few relevant
  answer
GEOGRAPHY
MAP Work
• Accuracy to be seen ,if the place is shown half cm away
from the exact location then ½ mark to be deducted.
• Has to be done according to instruction
• Has to be done with sharpen pencil , colour pencils can be
  used(Brown ,blue and yellow)
Subjective questions
• Give reason 1 mark for each point
• Eg name any two regions where tropical evergreen
  vegetation is found in India. ( ½ + ½ )
Name any two tree or economically useful plants?
                                          ( ½ + ½)
