Planning to the Finish Line Essay
One of the most instrumental parts of being an effective leader is the ability to complete a project or
task from beginning to end, whether it is in a team setting or an individual basis. There are many
elements that factor into facilitating a project all the way to successful completion. Best described as
the Deming Wheel, it is necessary for a leader to "Plan, Do, Check, and Act" if one hopes to
complete any project in the constantly changing world of business. (Kreitner, 2008) The most
considerable step in what has become the "how–to" of completing any task is the planning step.
(Clark, 2008) Kreitner (2008) explains why the planning step is so crucial in stating, "...the PDCA
cycle reminds managers (leaders) to focus on what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons it is so effective is that the brainstormers not only come up with new ideas in a
session, but also spark off from associations with other people's ideas by developing and refining
them." If an effective leader focuses on the task and appreciates the varied views of each team
member, an effective brainstorming session can provide a team with the questions that need
answering before and while they are working toward their common objective. The questions that are
brought up in a brainstorming session all stem from what lies at the finish line. There are the
obvious who, what, where, why questions, but as a good brainstorming session will show a team,
there are many more questions necessary in order to properly plan for achieving a goal or
completing a project. By clearly stating where the finish line is a good leader can help a team see the
many paths to get there. Questions like, "Who does it involve and who will do what? What are we
going to do? What will happen if we do not do it? When does it start and end? Where will it take
place? How will it take place? Why must we do it?" are the best starting point to spark the ideas
necessary to create the deeper questions that can help a team affectively plan their path to the finish
line. (Clark, 2008) The deeper questions are situational but, for

Nice Guys Finish Last Essay
Critical Thinking 11 1. Many people have a negative image of business and believe in the cliché that
"nice guys finish last." Relate what you read about professionalism in this chapter to this
conventional perception. I would have to agree and disagree on the cliché that "nice guys finish last"
because we have to take in account of the extent to which we as an individual on value getting along
with others and to the degree to which you are willing to be critical of others without coming off as
judgmental or conceited.

Conflict develops in teams and at meetings by an employee purposely criticizing other co–workers
opinions and conflict can put a dent and standstill to team progress and furthermore stifle the
creativity and participation of other team members. You can address conflict by taking immediate
action, connecting with fellow co–workers to find cause of the conflict, take steps to find a solution,
and provide feedback to communicate with all of the team on a constant basis.

Process Essay On How To Finish School Lunches
Have you ever wondered why you hardly ever get to finish your school lunch, in this writing you
will learn why you always had to waste all of that good food, most eating starts 5 minutes after
lunch starts and if you have a 10–minute lunch that only leaves you with 5 more minutes, and if you
are at the back of the line then you will probably be eating at recess time? When we eat, we only get
to eat half of our lunch. When you eat lunch you talk for over half of the time, and that results in you
only have half of your lunch, and that's not even counting the amount of time to get your food and
sit down and wait in line. Some may say don't talk so much, but lunch is the only time we get to
talk. Also they should extend recess because recess blows

Finish Sheetrocking Essay
When you are trying to finish a house one of the last things to do is finish the sheetrock. Sheetrock
finishing can be one of the most important things to do. If you do not do it right the paint will show
the seams between the pieces. The whole reason for finish sheetrocking is to hide the seams. Things
you will need for this job will be sheetrock mud. It may come in a box, bag, or 5 gallon bucket.
Mudding knives which is also known as a putty knife. For the first timer a mudding pan will work
the best. You will also need rolls of mudding tape. All the items can be found at your local hardware
store.
To start you need to apply a thick amount off the mud to the seam. It is needed to mud the entire
length of the seam, do not stop till you reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of this layer is to cover the tape and to fill in the grove. As you want to apply more mud
than is needed. It is necessary to remove the extra mud as before but make sure not to remove too
much. It is best to work from the edges to the center. Now this will produce a large bump which will
be sanded off later. Once the layer is as smooth as you can just let it be and let it dry. When it is dry
you will need to sand off the edges and the the ridge that was made earlier. This step may be
repeated till you achieve a smooth wall or ceiling.
Next you will need to mud the corners both inside and outside. For inside corners you can just use
the mudding tape and fold it in half. As with the flat areas you apply mud to each side of the corner,
and then place the tape in the corner and remove the excess mud under the tape. Then everything
you do is just the same as in the flat area just working one side of the corner at a time. The reason to
work one side at a time is so there is not a groove the will need to be worked out.
The whole process from start to finish may take days as it takes time to let the mud dry. Trying to
rush it will only leave you with a mess and much more work. It should only take two layers to fully
hide the seam and if it takes more it should just be a part here or there. After painting with the
primer it may be necessary to check and make sure the seam does not

Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing
The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months ago,
the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin–piercing rays of sunlight, along with
the high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside. My face
glistening with sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot as my left
racing spike hit the damp ground, still soggy from the previous day's rain. With my blue eyes
focused on the maze, which was the North Branch Golf Course, a.k.a. the North Decatur High
School cross country course. North Decatur High School's cross country course, I swung my rather
thin arms to and fro and my dark blond ponytail bobbed with every step. Unfortunately, few markers
or signs pointed the way. Consequently, I, along with the rest of the herd of about two dozen high
school maze runners from four area schools, was left wondering where to go. My completely royal
blue uniform glistened with sweat, and my breath cackled as I searched ahead for a faded yellow
flag set in the short muddy grass marking the way. The fact it was the first meet of my junior season
already made my task difficult enough; not knowing where to go just made matters worse.
Fortunately, I recognized this final part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

could not score at the meet without my finish. I knew better. If I learned anything from that day, it
would be that every day, or more specifically, every race, is not perfect. The bad races make you
appreciate the good ones that much more. My team and family proved how supporting they really

Personal Narrative: Crossing The Finish Line
Crossing the Finish Line As I wake up to screaming and banging noises just past 4:30 a.m., I was
quickly reminded that it was physical fitness day at Basic Leadership Camp. Barely being able to
wipe the crust out of my eyes, I jump out of bed, put on my shoes, and ran outside to my platoon.
Shortly after, I began to run what would soon be the hardest mile to run of my life. As I am running
with sweat dripping down my spine, I see the brightest red line that seemed so far but was only
seconds away. I then closed my eyes as tight as a vice. Within seconds I felt an amazing rush of
relief. I crossed the line that determined not only the mile I just finished running, but also the hard
work and time I put in to get to that moment. I crossed the

The First Crusade Start And Finish
When did the first Crusade start and finish:
The first Crusade began in 1095 AC and ended four years later in 1099 AC.
Key People:
Some of the other major Crusade leaders were: Alexius I Comnenus, Godfrey of Bouillon, Raymond
IV of Toulouse, Stephen of Blois, Peter the Hermit, Baldwin of Boulogne and Bohemond and his
nephew Tancred.
One of the key people from the first Crusade was Alexius I Comnenus. He was born in 1057 AC and
died in 1118 AC. Alexius was a Byzantine emperor from 1081–1118 AC (until he passed away, in
1118 AC). In his time he established the Komnenian dynasty and helped to strengthen the empire
after it had been defeated many times by the Normans and the Turks, this happened in the 11th
century.
Another key figure in the First Crusade was Peter the Hermit, he was an Amiens priest. He was born
in 1050 AC and died in 1131 AC.
Godfrey of Bouillon was a leader of the first crusade and a medieval Frankish knight. He served as
these from 1096 until 1100 AC.
Raymond IV of Toulouse was a very important person in the sieges of Nicaea, Antioch and
Jerusalem. When he was at the end of his life he started a battle to take over the city Tripoli; this was
then turned into a county by his family.

Has Gender Equality In Sports Reached The Finish Line? Essay
"The practice of physical education and sport is a fundamental right for all." (UNESCO) Gender
equality in sports is still lacking even after title IX. People seem to only care about males, when it
comes to sports. Women have accomplished just as much, achievements or more in sports, but men
still seem to get all of the attention. Women should receive equal treatments in sports, because
attention increases womens self esteem, they get no media attention or scholarship, and finally it
infringes on Title IX. Surprisingly, when women are active in sports they seem to have more self
confidence and self awareness. When women are treated equally they know they are just as
important as men, which has a drastic boost in their self esteem. When ... Show more content on

This outlook on women is definitely not going to help the situation in any matter. When women are
involved more in sports they seem to express themselves better (Women 2000). Sometimes when
someone is involved in a sport and usually does not communicate that well the sport seems to help
them in that way that other people do not understand. When women participate in sports it can cause
stereotyping towards them good and bad("Women"). If women were to have bad stereotyping in
their sports career then it would definitely not help women's self esteem. The media is reflected in
self esteem also. However self esteem is not the only cause in women in sports. Media also has a
major impact in women's sports. When women do not get the same media coverage as men do in
sports, it is not fair or equal. If women had more media attention it would increase in numbers
watching and the interests in the sports. It would be a huge step in women's sports if there would be
people to do document stats("Women"). Women's sports rarely seem to get televised, but men
always get their sports televised live(Messner). If women were to have just as much media coverage
they would get the same attention as men sports do. A commentator got caught not saying womens
last name(Messner, Michael). There also have been cases where basketball commentators would
make women feel not as important by making statements such as "big girl"(Messner). If
commentators make these kind of comments then there definitely

Managing A Project From Start For Finish ( Rennekamp & Nall )
Focus Group
There are several ways of conducting information sections to gather responses that would help
manage a project from start to finish(Rennekamp & Nall, 2009). Different people use different
approaches to gather information but the cost–effective approach would be an emerging trend
known as Focus Group Interview(Willis, Green, Daly, Williamson, & Bandyopadhyay, 2009).
Focus Group can be defined as a group of individuals brought together, led by a moderator or a
facilitator, to gather specific information from the interactions of the group about an
subject(Marczak & Sewll). The motive behind this process is that, the individuals in the group can
express and elucidate their views in a very simple manner(Sim, 1998) on a very ... Show more

The number of participants ideal for the interview
Selection of participants can be done through nominations, volunteering, random selection and so
on. Normally, moderators would use which of the criteria applies to the task under study.
Once the selection has been completed, the moderator calls the participants–to–be to confirm their
participation and later send them an email to be sure of their attendance.
Moderator Selection and Role
Selecting a moderator who is capable of handling the affairs of the focus group is a very tedious
task(NOAA, 2009). Normally people think the task of a moderator is not difficult. The fact is, to be
a moderator, there are certain skills like time management, leadership and flexibility that would
enable the effectiveness and control of the group.
The moderator should be someone who can listen with great intent and show emotional intelligence
when necessary.
The role of the moderator is to welcome all participants, assist them in filling up pre–group
paperwork and assist with name tents if any. The moderator has the responsibility of balancing the
inputs and outputs from the

Why Nice Guys Finish Last
1.Based on Serono's ideas rape culture is something that cannot be solved with "single–tact
solutions". The "men–as–predator/sexual aggressor assumption" (Serano 422) allows women to
believe that the man is always a predator, and therefore leads to men being aggressive leading to the
cycle of rape culture. Overall to change rape culture we must change this assumption that currently
dominates out thinking.
2. Serono titling her piece "Why Nice Guys Finish Last" is a bit sarcastic because her piece talks
about how it is the aggressive men who get women, because most women expect men to be the
predator. (Serano 418)I agree with her notion, because I also think that women tend to be more
attracted to bad boys, and aggressive men.

A Monopoly from Start to Finish
During out studies this term we have learned a lot about a Monopolistic way a company is able to
maneuver in the business market and I would like to refresh your mind by offering a clear definition.
A Monopoly is a situation in which an entity, either an individual or an industry or organization, is
the sole supplier of a particular good or service. As such, this supplier has no competition from other
suppliers and is able to control the market value of the commodity. Some monopolies are
government–enforced or controlled, while others form naturally or through company merger.

"Price discrimination exists when two similar products which have the same marginal cost to
produce are sold by a firm at different prices. This sort of practice is highly controversial in terms of
its impact on both consumers and rivals" (Price Discrimination, 2006, p.1). There are many ways to
accomplish these sort of conditions because the transactions surely need not be simultaneous;
indeed, there is temporal discrimination, such as between Sunday rates and week, day rates, matinee
and evening prices, peak rates and off–peak rates, season and off–season prices. To sell different
qualities or products with different marginal cost at the same price, or to buy different qualities or
factors of different efficiency at the same price, is also discriminatory.
Based on all of this useful information we must also answer the question regarding which market
structure is more beneficial for Wonks to operate in and will this market structure benefit
consumers? In my opinion it is based on the level of quality and service of the products and how
much consumers are willing to pay for the products they want to purchase. In a monopolistic
competitive market the consumer may choose to purchase a substitute product for a lower price, but
only if the

Tranquilized Finish Ticket Analysis
Learning to love someone besides yourself is a delicate choice that is exemplified throughout the
song "Tranquilized" by Finish Ticket. In the composition, the lyricist appears to be one of the lovers
in a relationship who undergoes the struggle of a breakup. Though the songwriter deals with a heart
break, they learn to heal. As confusing as love is, Finish Ticket captures the emotional disconnection
and healing that comes with the choice of loving another.
Emotions are the fire to any relationship, determining whether the connection between two people
can turn to love or separation. In the portion of the song, the story teller explains a situation which

A heart can be compared to a glass jar: Once the jar is broken, the pieces can be glued back similarly
to its original form. Through the tone of the piece, the narrator of the song comes to the realization
that even though a breakup will hurt, the results will be positive: "Show me all you know. Through
the door I let you go". The story teller knows that the loss of love in his life will benefit him by
fixing the problems he has brought to the relationship. Moreover, the narrator can infer that the
relationship was a risk that could have ended badly: "We'd see who we become, we may not like it,
but that's just all we'd know". Part of coming to age is experiencing risk and fails. Learning from
those mistakes is a skill that is vital to preparing for future relationships. Additionally, putting
yourself in other people's shoes will help interpret a situation. The narrator discovers that his lover
wants to live life without him: "You say your time here's short, and I can understand your hurry."
Realizing that the narrator had to hurt himself to make the other happy is an example of maturing
because he devoted his feelings to his previous lover. Although not all relationships will have a fairy

My First Semester Of College
Finally, I was on my way home from class, I could not believe I was almost finished and done with

Nice Guys Finish Last Summary
On June 10th, 1999, Chairman Alan Greenspan gave a commencement speech at Harvard University
on business ethics. I do not believe that it is naive for business leaders to try and be honest, though
he realistically explains the reality of today's current business world. Toward the end of the speech,
Greenspan makes a rather resonating quote, "It is decidedly not true that 'nice' guys finish last'... I do
not deny that many appear to have succeeded in a material way by cutting corners and manipulating
associates, both in their professional and in their personal lives. But material success is possible in

I must convey my sincerest gratitudes to my mother. As a single mother, it was her who had always
instilled important virtues in my life. Simply enough, she has always been there for me. She taught
me to never give up, to always believe in myself and have confidence, and to always find the good
in others. She had also stressed heavily to be moral and that I would inevitably become immoral
should I choose to associate with those that are as well. As such, I believe I have developed a keen
sense of being able to read and understand others by listening to them, as well as a better judge of
character. Kindness and compassion is something that I learned from her as well. She had always
told me to talk to the kids that were "nice but nobody seemed to want to be around", that a even just
a greeting or inquiry of their day would go a long way. From that, I've learned to also be selfless.
Life isn't all about myself and my own desires. It is also about helping and extending kindness

Finish Line Mission Statement
"I'm in love with all these shoes and clothing!" I thought to myself as I first walked into Finish Line.
When I stumbled upon Finish Line I knew this was the right store for me. I'm an 8th grader at Silver
Hills Middle School. This company is honestly important to myself and others that I know of. I love
exercising and especially if I'm working out in the right clothes. There are clothes and shoes from
Finish Line that my family has bought and liked throughout our family history. To this day, my
family and myself have been shopping at Finish Line if we ever need anything comfortable to wear.
Finish Line is able to sell 24 types of clothing and shoes and that's what I love. I know people speak
greatly about your company and how it is useful to them. I also love how the workers are helpful
and always persuade the customers to buy their items. But are you getting enough customers? In
addition, I noticed a few customers ending up in your store and they tend to move on to other
athletic companies. If you improve your clothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do more advertisements about your company and why people should shop at your store. Upgrade

unbelievable your company is. May I ask, if you are able to reach out to the people and find out
what their ideas are and possibly buy more popular shoes and clothing or even design them yourself!
If you are able to do that and be able to do my idea I would definitely talk about your store and
convince people to take a look around there and do their shopping at your store if they are in need of
a type of clothing to wear or shoes. I'm sure people will love your shop just as much as I

Algorithmic decisionmaking – FINISH TITLE HERE
Introduction
Over the past two years there have been a lot of conversations about the era of big data. There have
been numerous hearings in Congress and federal agencies, countless news stories, and multiple
reports from the White House. Most of the public discourse has been around commercial and
corporate uses of big data to make decisions that could be personally intrusive, harm or discriminate
against individuals. The Wall Street Journal ran a report about pricing by Staples.com, in which the
company's algorithm was changing its pricing online after estimating a user's location relative to a
Staples' competitor. In another instance, Target came under fire for its marketing algorithm
accurately sending a teenager information about pregnancy.
As a result, when polled, 51 percent of Americans are concerned with the impact collecting personal
information will have on vulnerable communities. Forty–nine percent are concerned about being
able to have control of personal information, and 46 percent are concerned about companies using
computer algorithms that may contain false inputs and that are kept secret to make critical decisions
about their lives.
Although stories like Target, Staples.com, and many others have dominated headlines, what is
seldom discussed is that government agencies are increasingly using similar approaches, and the
implications are troubling. From our policing and justice system to our public benefits and

A Moment At The Finish Analysis
How does one survive through life situations? No matter how easy or hard the situation is tough
choices will still have to be made. Whether someone's walking a dog and a homeless man is on the
road and a choice needs to be made on giving them money or not, or easy as should one buy candy
while at the store. One can survive with determination, adaptability, and hope. One can survive with
determination; Sending blood pumping through one's body, showing their true strength. If one has
determination anything can be accomplished, especially if that person has their mind on the prize
and is determined to get there. An example of this is Kayla Montgomery, In the article For Runner
With M.S., No Pain While Racing, No Feeling at the Finish by Lindsay Crouse, Her coach said,
"When she was diagnosed, she said to me, "Coach, I don't know how much time I have left, so I
want to run fast – don't hold back,' " said Patrick Cromwell, Montgomery's coach. "That's when I
said, 'Wow, who are you?" At the time, Montgomery was one of the slowest on her team, completing
her first 5–kilometer race in 24:29; by last November, she had run a 17:22, placing 11th in the
regional qualifier for the Foot Locker national cross–country ... Show more content on

Most of the time in life, fear gets the most of people and plays a huge role into scaring people even
though it is just their mind playing games with them. An example of this is in the book Lord Of The
Flies by William Golding. In Lord Of The Flies the kids get scared of things called "Beasties" and
during one of the first sightings a little boy said, "A snake thing. Ever so big. I saw it. It is a beastie"
(Golding 35). All of the kids were scared of the beastie but they got through it with hope. Like the
little boy, a survivor needs hope to get through all of the harsh things that life puts on one. With

The U.S. retail footwear market rose only 0.3% from 2007 to 2008. This increase was $46.6 billion
in 2007 to $46.8 billion in 2008. That amount accounted for 24% of the global market that year. The
U.S. retail footwear market saw even greater gains in earlier years. During the boom years of the
U.S. economy from 2005 to 2006, there were 10% gains which added $4 billion in market value to
the U.S. market. From 2004 to 2008 the U.S. retail footwear market grew at a CAGR of three
percent. Our poor current economic conditions are causing consumers to be thriftier in their
shopping habits. There is no doubt that this has hurt the retail footwear market. In the quarter ending
February 27, 2010 Finish Line's net sales fell 1.8% to $1.17 billion. Comparable stores sales
decreased by 0.5%, which was offset by a 21.3% increase in online sales. Store traffic decreased by
approximately 7%; the company attributed this decline to the sluggish economy. Net income
increased by 67% to $50.8 million, the product margin increased by 1.1%, and SG&A expenses
decreased by 4.7%. Finish Line opened five stores and closed 28 during the year. They plan to open

Why I Chose To Finish Research Paper
It's Not When You Finish, It's How You Finish
Often times we are judged on when we finish a task, but who really cares about how we finish?
From child development, elementary, middle, and high school, we all move by age and academics to
the next grade level. In college we are categorized by classification and degrees. The point I am
making is really simple. For an example, in high school I graduated within the four–year period.
That's when I finished. Because I was held back a year due to behavioral problems, I didn't let that
affect how I was going to finish. How I finished was I graduated with my original class, top ten of
my graduating class, beta club member, science club member, honor society club member, and with
a 4.2 gpa. From that moment I knew that my philosophy wasn't to live life with regrets on when I
would finish, but instead change the outlook on how I finished. ... Show more content on

I am currently a senior Exercise Science major pursuing a career in Cardiac Rehabilitation. I chose
to pursue this major because of past events that took place in my life. Four years ago, I had the
mind–set that I was going to be a nurse. It wasn't until last year I realized the only thing people
cared about was when I was going to finish. No one cared about if I really liked what I was going to
school for, or how I would finish. They just wanted to know how much longer I would have in
school before I started work. The funny thing here is, I only wanted to be a nurse because of the
money, it was something everyone was doing, and my family thought it would be perfect for me.
Truth is, I started a dream of someone else hoping that I would fulfill the shoes of high hopes. I then
started to pursue other majors and came across exercise science. Although I am not nearly done with
school, I already have a plan on how I am going to finish. Now that I am in a different major, I can

Personal challenge is something that everyone has to face at least once in their lifetime. I personally
believe that personal challenges are a way to motivate a person to do better by achieving them.
Overcoming personal challenges gives people a sense of feeling that if they can overcome their
challenges then they can do anything. Everyone has gone through personal challenges, Kayla
Montgomery, a girl from an article that I have read, has gone through her personal challenge and she
is still going through it to this day. My mother went through her challenges and still going through

Pasty Barnes's The Finish Of Patsy Barnes
Patsy Barnes is a colored boy living in the north of the United States. In the story "The Finish of
Patsy Barnes" the text states, "His name was Pasty Barnes, and he was a denizen of Little Africa. In
fact, he lived on Douglass Street." It goes onto say, "He was colored, and very much so. That was
why he lived on Douglass Street. The Negro was very strong within him the instinct of colonization
and it was in accordance with this that Patsy's mother had found her way to Little Africa when she
had come North from Kentucky." This tells me that Patsy had a home in the north with his mother.

One way that they are the same is that they are both brave, and hardworking/determined. With Patsy
he is brave because he rides the horse that his father got killed by, to earn money for his mother and
to avenge his fathers death. The author wrote, "Patsy's heart was beating very wildly beneath his
jacket. That horse. He knew that glossy coat. He knew that raw–boned frame and those flashing
nostrils. That black horse there owed something to the orphan he had made." In that statement it tells
me that he knew that horse from when his father had gotten killed by one, and Patsy is offering to
ride that same horse. An example from the story that tells me that Joby is brave is, "He swallowed.
He wiped his eyes. He cleared his throat. He settled himself. Then, at last, very slowly and firmly he
turned the drum so that it faced up toward the sky." This is right after the general tells him that he is
the heart of the army and that he needed to stay strong and keep beating on, even if the general dies.
Some ways that the boys are different are how Joby is obedient, whereas Patsy is more caring but
doesn't listen as well. Patsy's values are horses, his mother and father, and money. Joby's values are
his drum, life, and the general. These values are somewhat the same because Patsy and Joby value
people in their life that make it a little easier, but they are different because Joby doesn't have a

Finish Your Lunch Research Paper
The human body is like a car running on gasoline, it's gas tank must be filled up in order to run
properly. Sometimes, after lunch, I still hear a noise like as if a growling bear is in my stomach,
even though lunch has already concluded. Although thirty minutes each day is set aside for lunch,
this rule needs to be changed, because many people don't have enough time allotted to finish their
lunch.
If a poll were taken from the student body at Conroe High School, asking whether a person finishes
their lunch during the lunch period, a big portion of the responses would have boxes checked "no".
For instance, sometimes lunch will conclude and half my lunch will still be seated stationary in my
lunch box. As a result, I can feel the emptiness of

11:59, so I decided to relax. I ate, Watched my favorite show on tv, and started scrolling on my

did our regular nightly routine and laid down for bed. As soon as he's asleep I would get up and
finish my report, I mean it only two pages left. Slowly i could feel plans start to change. I felt like i
was laying on a thousand soft feathers, wrapped in my blanket like a butterfly's cozy cocoon. I was
sedated by its embrace and sleep in a matter of minutes. I was Later awaken by my dad asking
"Don't you have homework due tonight". I got up and proceeded to my laptop like a bat out of hell. I
opened my homescreen to see it was only about 9 o'clock and I still Had three hours. Just as i was
about to open my document, my stomach growled at me like an anger mutt that had not been fed in
weeks. I don't think you show try to do homework on an empty stomach. I knew i need to go ahead
and finished but i was hungry. So I went ahead closed my laptop and went to make dinner. As soon
as i'm done eating this paper is going to get finished, I mean it's just 2 pages. I finished dinner and
returned to my laptop, Just as I was about to login my phone rang. It was my Granny,I can't ignore
her, I've got time to talk for a few minutes. As soon as we hang up, i'm going to type up my last two

Finally, I sat down, got myself together and was ready to finish my paper now, no distractions. It
was 10 o'clock now, i had 2 hours to type two pages, piece of cake. I went to where i keep my

Why Nice Guys Finish Last Analysis
A popular phrase growing up might have been "don't believe everything you see on the internet."
Many websites, newspapers, magazines, and networks may not present accurate information. A
document can display information in a professional manner, but the information itself can be biased,
and unsupported by evidence, ultimately making the presented information more of an opinion
opposed to factual information. They are certainly hard to find, but credible and unbiased
information does exist. "Being WEIRD: How Culture Shapes the Mind," by Ethan Watters, has

Comparing The Finish Education System
The Finish education system offers a stable comprehensive education to its population unlike the
United States with standardized testing and repeating grades if necessary. Finland's system does not
put emphasis on examinations to gauge the academic strength of the students. On the other hand,
certain individuals might feel that the American education system is a model of success with
Common Core standards. Based on this major gap one can conclude that there are differences
between both education systems. Finland does an excellent job when it comes to international tests
with other countries. This is do to the fact on how teachers are chosen; Finland only selects the best
applicants. Only 700 applicants are accepted. There are two–stage procedures to become a teacher.

Meaning no competition among schools that reduces unnecessary stress amongst students and

similar level in the United States averages 1,080 hours annually." Finish teachers spend more time
outside the classroom development their teaching techniques as well as planning the next
curriculum. Finland evades repeating a grade this is because repeating a grade is detrimental to
students and also schools for several reasons. First, it is embarrassing which turns the students into a

repeating the topics they are weak in is an effective solution that allows them to strive with a better

One day Wackomoto desperately wanted to go play with friends after school, before school his mom

friends anyway. They went swimming in the pond and jumping on the trampoline. They were

door he was greeted by fonders' mom,
"Hey Wackomoto, would you like to stay for dinner?"
"That would be grea,t" Wackomoto responded.

"Steel is born in the flames and sent out to live and grow old. It comes back to the flames and has a

It seemed deathless." (302) Blood on the Forge, by William Attaway, illustrates one of the most
important historical event in United States history, The Great Migration. Attaway sets Blood on the

Attaway moved from the segregated state of Mississippi to the industrialized city of Chicago,
Illinois. The novelist became part of the Great Migration, just as the Moss brothers became part of it
when they escaped Kentucky to work on the steel mills of Pennsylvania. It is apparent that Blood on
the Forge has a distinct connection to Attaway's life. Attaway seeks to tell the plot of the story into
five parts. Part one of the story renders the Life of the Moss brothers before the Steel Mills. Working
for Mr. Johnson as a sharecropper, the Moss brothers were dirt poor, unable to feed themselves and
work the land because of the unfortunate event that killed the Moss brother's mom that lead to Big
Mat killing the mule they used to plant crops. Already burden by the death of their mother, Big Mat
nearly kills a the riding boss when he says; "Killin' a animal worth forty dollars, 'cause a nigger
woman got dragged over the rocks." (69) After this event, it forces the Moss brothers to hop on a
train headed for the steel mills of the north. Part two illustrates the crowded boxcar the Moss
brothers were encased in as they headed north. Parts three to five depicts the new life of

October. In the June quarter, sales at Macy's came in at $43.8 million versus $13 million for a partial
quarter last year. The long term goal is to reach annual sales of $250 million to $350 million, but
should only reach $175 to $195 this year, and be only slightly accretive to earnings. Notably,
management commented that it has been tracking toward the high end of that guidance range and is

Planning To The Finish Line Essay

  • 1. Planning to the Finish Line Essay One of the most instrumental parts of being an effective leader is the ability to complete a project or task from beginning to end, whether it is in a team setting or an individual basis. There are many elements that factor into facilitating a project all the way to successful completion. Best described as the Deming Wheel, it is necessary for a leader to "Plan, Do, Check, and Act" if one hopes to complete any project in the constantly changing world of business. (Kreitner, 2008) The most considerable step in what has become the "how–to" of completing any task is the planning step. (Clark, 2008) Kreitner (2008) explains why the planning step is so crucial in stating, "...the PDCA cycle reminds managers (leaders) to focus on what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons it is so effective is that the brainstormers not only come up with new ideas in a session, but also spark off from associations with other people's ideas by developing and refining them." If an effective leader focuses on the task and appreciates the varied views of each team member, an effective brainstorming session can provide a team with the questions that need answering before and while they are working toward their common objective. The questions that are brought up in a brainstorming session all stem from what lies at the finish line. There are the obvious who, what, where, why questions, but as a good brainstorming session will show a team, there are many more questions necessary in order to properly plan for achieving a goal or completing a project. By clearly stating where the finish line is a good leader can help a team see the many paths to get there. Questions like, "Who does it involve and who will do what? What are we going to do? What will happen if we do not do it? When does it start and end? Where will it take place? How will it take place? Why must we do it?" are the best starting point to spark the ideas necessary to create the deeper questions that can help a team affectively plan their path to the finish line. (Clark, 2008) The deeper questions are situational but, for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Nice Guys Finish Last Essay Critical Thinking 11 1. Many people have a negative image of business and believe in the cliché that "nice guys finish last." Relate what you read about professionalism in this chapter to this conventional perception. I would have to agree and disagree on the cliché that "nice guys finish last" because we have to take in account of the extent to which we as an individual on value getting along with others and to the degree to which you are willing to be critical of others without coming off as judgmental or conceited. 2. • 5. Process Essay On How To Finish School Lunches Have you ever wondered why you hardly ever get to finish your school lunch, in this writing you will learn why you always had to waste all of that good food, most eating starts 5 minutes after lunch starts and if you have a 10–minute lunch that only leaves you with 5 more minutes, and if you are at the back of the line then you will probably be eating at recess time? When we eat, we only get to eat half of our lunch. When you eat lunch you talk for over half of the time, and that results in you only have half of your lunch, and that's not even counting the amount of time to get your food and sit down and wait in line. Some may say don't talk so much, but lunch is the only time we get to talk. Also they should extend recess because recess blows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Finish Sheetrocking Essay When you are trying to finish a house one of the last things to do is finish the sheetrock. Sheetrock finishing can be one of the most important things to do. If you do not do it right the paint will show the seams between the pieces. The whole reason for finish sheetrocking is to hide the seams. Things you will need for this job will be sheetrock mud. It may come in a box, bag, or 5 gallon bucket. Mudding knives which is also known as a putty knife. For the first timer a mudding pan will work the best. You will also need rolls of mudding tape. All the items can be found at your local hardware store. To start you need to apply a thick amount off the mud to the seam. It is needed to mud the entire length of the seam, do not stop till you reach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this layer is to cover the tape and to fill in the grove. As you want to apply more mud than is needed. It is necessary to remove the extra mud as before but make sure not to remove too much. It is best to work from the edges to the center. Now this will produce a large bump which will be sanded off later. Once the layer is as smooth as you can just let it be and let it dry. When it is dry you will need to sand off the edges and the the ridge that was made earlier. This step may be repeated till you achieve a smooth wall or ceiling. Next you will need to mud the corners both inside and outside. For inside corners you can just use the mudding tape and fold it in half. As with the flat areas you apply mud to each side of the corner, and then place the tape in the corner and remove the excess mud under the tape. Then everything you do is just the same as in the flat area just working one side of the corner at a time. The reason to work one side at a time is so there is not a groove the will need to be worked out. The whole process from start to finish may take days as it takes time to let the mud dry. Trying to rush it will only leave you with a mess and much more work. It should only take two layers to fully hide the seam and if it takes more it should just be a part here or there. After painting with the primer it may be necessary to check and make sure the seam does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months ago, the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin–piercing rays of sunlight, along with the high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside. My face glistening with sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot as my left racing spike hit the damp ground, still soggy from the previous day's rain. With my blue eyes focused on the maze, which was the North Branch Golf Course, a.k.a. the North Decatur High School cross country course. North Decatur High School's cross country course, I swung my rather thin arms to and fro and my dark blond ponytail bobbed with every step. Unfortunately, few markers or signs pointed the way. Consequently, I, along with the rest of the herd of about two dozen high school maze runners from four area schools, was left wondering where to go. My completely royal blue uniform glistened with sweat, and my breath cackled as I searched ahead for a faded yellow flag set in the short muddy grass marking the way. The fact it was the first meet of my junior season already made my task difficult enough; not knowing where to go just made matters worse. Fortunately, I recognized this final part of the ... I also remembered missing my pre–cal test the following morning. I considered my diagnosis: dehydration and heat exhaustion. I thought about how I let down my team because they could not score at the meet without my finish. I knew better. If I learned anything from that day, it would be that every day, or more specifically, every race, is not perfect. The bad races make you appreciate the good ones that much more. • 11. Personal Narrative: Crossing The Finish Line Crossing the Finish Line As I wake up to screaming and banging noises just past 4:30 a.m., I was quickly reminded that it was physical fitness day at Basic Leadership Camp. Barely being able to wipe the crust out of my eyes, I jump out of bed, put on my shoes, and ran outside to my platoon. Shortly after, I began to run what would soon be the hardest mile to run of my life. As I am running with sweat dripping down my spine, I see the brightest red line that seemed so far but was only seconds away. I then closed my eyes as tight as a vice. Within seconds I felt an amazing rush of relief. I crossed the line that determined not only the mile I just finished running, but also the hard work and time I put in to get to that moment. • 17. Has Gender Equality In Sports Reached The Finish Line? Essay "The practice of physical education and sport is a fundamental right for all." (UNESCO) Gender equality in sports is still lacking even after title IX. People seem to only care about males, when it comes to sports. Women have accomplished just as much, achievements or more in sports, but men still seem to get all of the attention. Women should receive equal treatments in sports, because attention increases womens self esteem, they get no media attention or scholarship, and finally it infringes on Title IX. Surprisingly, when women are active in sports they seem to have more self confidence and self awareness. When women are treated equally they know they are just as important as men, which has a drastic boost in their self esteem. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This outlook on women is definitely not going to help the situation in any matter. When women are involved more in sports they seem to express themselves better (Women 2000). Sometimes when someone is involved in a sport and usually does not communicate that well the sport seems to help them in that way that other people do not understand. When women participate in sports it can cause stereotyping towards them good and bad("Women"). If women were to have bad stereotyping in their sports career then it would definitely not help women's self esteem. The media is reflected in self esteem also. However self esteem is not the only cause in women in sports. Media also has a major impact in women's sports. When women do not get the same media coverage as men do in sports, it is not fair or equal. If women had more media attention it would increase in numbers watching and the interests in the sports. It would be a huge step in women's sports if there would be people to do document stats("Women"). Women's sports rarely seem to get televised, but men always get their sports televised live(Messner). If women were to have just as much media coverage they would get the same attention as men sports do. A commentator got caught not saying womens last name(Messner, Michael). There also have been cases where basketball commentators would make women feel not as important by making statements such as "big girl"(Messner). Managing A Project From Start For Finish ( Rennekamp & Nall ) Focus Group There are several ways of conducting information sections to gather responses that would help manage a project from start to finish(Rennekamp & Nall, 2009). Different people use different approaches to gather information but the cost–effective approach would be an emerging trend known as Focus Group Interview(Willis, Green, Daly, Williamson, & Bandyopadhyay, 2009). Focus Group can be defined as a group of individuals brought together, led by a moderator or a facilitator, to gather specific information from the interactions of the group about an subject(Marczak & Sewll). Moderator Selection and Role Selecting a moderator who is capable of handling the affairs of the focus group is a very tedious task(NOAA, 2009). Normally people think the task of a moderator is not difficult. The fact is, to be a moderator, there are certain skills like time management, leadership and flexibility that would enable the effectiveness and control of the group. The moderator should be someone who can listen with great intent and show emotional intelligence when necessary. • 21. Why Nice Guys Finish Last 1.Based on Serono's ideas rape culture is something that cannot be solved with "single–tact solutions". The "men–as–predator/sexual aggressor assumption" (Serano 422) allows women to believe that the man is always a predator, and therefore leads to men being aggressive leading to the cycle of rape culture. Overall to change rape culture we must change this assumption that currently dominates out thinking. 2. Serono titling her piece "Why Nice Guys Finish Last" is a bit sarcastic because her piece talks about how it is the aggressive men who get women, because most women expect men to be the predator. (Serano 418)I agree with her notion, because I also think that women tend to be more attracted to bad boys, and aggressive men. 3. Serano claims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Monopoly from Start to Finish During out studies this term we have learned a lot about a Monopolistic way a company is able to maneuver in the business market and I would like to refresh your mind by offering a clear definition. A Monopoly is a situation in which an entity, either an individual or an industry or organization, is the sole supplier of a particular good or service. As such, this supplier has no competition from other suppliers and is able to control the market value of the commodity. Some monopolies are government–enforced or controlled, while others form naturally or through company merger. This sort of practice is highly controversial in terms of its impact on both consumers and rivals" (Price Discrimination, 2006, p.1). There are many ways to accomplish these sort of conditions because the transactions surely need not be simultaneous; indeed, there is temporal discrimination, such as between Sunday rates and week, day rates, matinee and evening prices, peak rates and off–peak rates, season and off–season prices. To sell different qualities or products with different marginal cost at the same price, or to buy different qualities or factors of different efficiency at the same price, is also discriminatory. Based on all of this useful information we must also answer the question regarding which market structure is more beneficial for Wonks to operate in and will this market structure benefit consumers? In my opinion it is based on the level of quality and service of the products and how much consumers are willing to pay for the products they want to purchase. In a monopolistic competitive market the consumer may choose to purchase a substitute product for a lower price, but only if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the composition, the lyricist appears to be one of the lovers in a relationship who undergoes the struggle of a breakup. Though the songwriter deals with a heart break, they learn to heal. From child development, elementary, middle, and high school, we all move by age and academics to the next grade level. In college we are categorized by classification and degrees.
