1. We’re the Millers opening title sequence
The opening title sequence begins with a montage of different viral videos that
have become famous on YouTube. Videos such as the double rainbow all the
way, the man running into a wall naked, the penalty that hits the keeper in the
face and the kitten being tickled. The camera zooms outto a man lying on a
couch on his laptop with his headphones in, he gets a text and unloads a bag
full of different drugs. This shows theaudience that he is a drug dealer of some
sort, all of the different text messages show thathe is popular and well known
as a drug dealer in his local environment. Itis also seen that he has a lot of
money, this shows the audience that this is the characters full time job and he
doesn’thave an actual job as he makes a lot of profit and all of his money from
selling drugs. He is then seen selling drugs to surprising clients, not people on
streets or something like that. Instead a mother, a teacher and a chef. This
creates a weird sort of comedic value for the audience as they can laugh at the
kind of people buying it as it is unexpected and unfamiliar.
In the next scene the protagonistDavid meets an old friend, comparing the
two David is known by the audience as a drug dealer, he has scruffy longish
hair and a hoodie. Whereas his old friend has a clean haircut and appropriate
clothing. The clear contrastof the characters makes for a comedic scene for
the audience however the characters do sharesomesimilarities. David didn’t
recognisehim until he mentioned that they took ecstasy together. This shows
that he is zoned in on drugs and drugs only. Itmakes for a weird and unnatural
scene for the audience as he is now a father and has a wife, whereas David is
alone and still doing whathe did in college. The audience expect the friend to
question why he hasn’tmoved on at all however he is in complete envy of
David which would make the audience laugh and also question if he is right to
be in envy of David or not. Itposes questions to the audience and makes them
think about whatdecisions are the right ones in life and where thosedecisions
could lead you. The friend makes it seem like David’s life isn’t a good one, he
says “you’vegotnothing… you could disappear tomorrow and no one would
notice.” It’s like he says one thing but means something completely different
as he meant it as a compliment to David but actually makes him think about his
life and whether or not it’s the right one.
The famous actors of Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston in one movie
together make the audience know it will have the comedic genius of Jason
Sudeikis however include the funny yet extremely romantic Jennifer Aniston.

2. These two havetheir own genres, Comedy and Rom-coms, so justseeing these
two actors together make the audience know there will be comedy and
romancein this film. This is justby seeing the two actors, this means that
actors have a huge impact on movies like this. The characters areintroduced
one then another, the audience don’tknow the plot but they know what kind
of things will occur.
