What is our idea?
- Our idea is based around a college student who is being bullied and
is suffering from depression. The story will go on to show what he
has to put up with on a daily basis and what happened between him
and his school friends. In the students darkest hour his oldest friend
will come to his aid, the rest of the video will then be a montage
showing the student recovering from the depression.
Synopsis of the movie
The video would start with a student running home and locking the door behind him. The following scenes will
show the student crying in his room and contemplating what he has to live for. This would eventually lead to the
student looking at himself in the mirror. It will then cut to various flashbacks of what the student has to put up
with on a daily basis and how he is suffering from depression. Later on during that day he will be flicking through
old messages from secondary school friends, this is to show how the student keeps coming up with excuses so he
doesn’t have to go out and socialise. He begins to curl himself into a ball under the realisation of what he has done,
how he had a large group of friends but is now is completely isolated, or so he believes. In the students darkest
hour his oldest friend asks him if he would like to meet up, this will then result in a montage, which will show the
student beginning to turn his life around and recover from his depression.
Our audience
The audience for the short film is both genders aged 12 and above I have chosen this
because depression can happen to both genders and anyone above 12 years will
understand the struggles with it. The Geo demographic of the short film is nationwide
this is because the whole nation will know about depression but not all will understand.
The socio economic for the short film is all classes another reason for this is because
depression can strike anyone. The demographics for this short film is B , C1, C2 , D, E. This
is because the subject of depression is suitable for everyone in each classes. With it being
a short film the film might end up on youtube, this enables the E group to have more
ways to view it.
The purpose
The purpose of the short film is to promote the struggles of someone with
depression and to get the awareness out into the public. Also I see a gap in the
knowledge of depression in the public so this short film can be used to educate as
well.
Main characters
There are 4 different characters, the bullied victim, his oldest friend and the two
bullies. The main character will be the hero who the audience will support. The
bullied victim will have the feel sorry factor from the audience. The audience will
take a dislike to the 2 bullies because they are the the culprits. This is to highlight
and make the situation as real as possible, this is to enhance the situation and
make it more real.
What makes ours different
Our is different because there isn’t an idea on the market that we have
constructed and written ours in a different style than others and we will have our
portrayed in a different way than the typical ones. Our is different because we
have asked real life people.
