2. Lighting
the lighting used, is very high key, there is no hidden activity of the
men which suggests there is nothing dodgy or sinister going o n
Shot Types
The camera shots and movements also drive the opening sequence
with a scene set around a table, the camera tracks around the
table, capturing characters speaking to show some importance to
their conversation
Sound
The music is an upbeat pop song, which makes the sequence of the
men walking down the road look charismatic and makes the
audience anticipate what is going to happen. The song is about
drugs which connotes that the men are possibly dealing drugs, or on
the wrong side of the law
3. When the film opens with its first few shots the audience is met with a group
of men sitting in a café talking. The audience’s immediate attention is drawn
to the costumes and mise on scene.
Mise en scene
The collaboration of mise en scene and costumes an unbalanced mix. The
group around the tables were all dressed in smart suits, all in black this gives
the audience an impression that these men are well paid
This could be a thought to us when it
comes to making our film opening as
when we are choosing costumes we
know how to represent people of
importance and wealth by dressing
them in suits and smart clothing.
4. We see a group of 9 men walking down a street, and the camera
cuts to each of them, then the text says which actor is playing who.
Then it cuts to them walking down to a road and introduces the
actors who are playing them
This could be helpful to our
ideas when it comes to our
film opening as we want to
establish the characters
quickly or tell who they
are, use the cut shots to look
at each character
5. END SCENE
The End scene shows a man bleeding in the back of a car, which
suggest he has been kidnapped/shot by the men in suits as they cut
from showing all the men in suits to the bleeding man in distress, this is a
genre signifier as violence and crime go hand in hand.
