2. What I like about the opening scene is the
way that it explains what the rest of the
film is about we know this as the whole
way through the opening it is being
narrated by the main character who is
talking about how much money there is to
be made in drugs. This then links in to the
rest of the film and its theme as we then
know that the film is going to have
something to do with drugs and crime.

3. In the opening scene there is a range of camera
shots used at one point we see the camera pan
around the shop and the products change from
drugs to a normal shop. Editing is also used
when cross cutting between x and the so called
‘want to be gangsters’. Also the use of sound
and background music changes when it is
cross cutting between the prison scene and
back to the present day

4. The characters in this film have been
introduced though the way x narrates the
opening such as when he talks about saying
low and not being to loud the scene cross cuts
to Amsterdam where we see a gang of 3 men
and one woman who are being loud we can tell
this by the way one of the men try's to kick a
police car. We are also introduced to x by when
he first appears on screen he says “like me”
this is what lets us know that it is him whos
narrating.

5. The opening of layer cake has created a
atmosphere by the way that there has been a
meeting arranged for x with jimmy who is x’s
supplier of cocaine. The way this creates an
atmosphere is by he way that we do not know
what is going to happen. This also hooks the
audience in as we don’t know what's going to
happen so the audience wants to keep
watching to find out what the meetings about.
