Script
For my final major project, I will be creating a movie trailer for a horror/thriller film. I will
also be creating a movie poster to go along with the trailer.
The story of my trailer will revolve around a serial killer; I want the trailer to focus more on
the serial killer rather than the victims, the killer will hold the storyline of the trailer. The
reason for this is because I don’t want the trailer to be predictable; throughout the trailer I
want as many people to be shown as possible. This way there won’t be a clear protagonist
which would leave the viewer guessing who might survive.
The trailer will be aimed at any gender teenagers and adults due to its Genre. I will be
creating jumps and thrills throughout the trailer, using dark scenes, sound effects and music
to help create the mood. These are the usual conventions of a horror trailer.
The trailer will be quite fast paced switching between scenes; at the very start of the trailer
we will hear an emergency call. Then different scenes will flash as we see the killer and the
victim. The next thing we see will be the news being reported that another murder has
taken place and locals are being advised to be cautious and stay indoors because the
murder has not yet been found. As the trailer goes on we will hear voiceovers which will be
from other news stories, the voices will be explaining that others have been killed and that
the murders are all being linked to the same person.
After this the main music that I have chosen will be heard as the different scenes are shown.
The trailers textwill appear e.g. ‘This Year’ and then the film’s title will be show followed by
the credits at the end of the trailer
The text that is used in the trailer will either be edited using Photoshop or After Effects. The
idea of using the text is to make the trailer seem as real as possible. I will also be creating
the movie poster in Photoshop; the poster will act as an official movie poster and will
include a relevant image to the trailer along with the movies name and the credits at the
very bottom.
