3. Outline of Format The start of the music video will involve close up shots of main(1). We will see tracking shots of dancers and the start will have lots
of close-ups of main(1) for the audience to familiarise themselves.
In verse 1 we will have close-ups of main(1) including shots of their lips, eyes and face. It will then move onto mid-shots and long
shots of the dancers. We then see a tracking shot of main(1) walking in front of the camera. It will then be the first time we see
main (2) and she is looking into the mirror in the bathroom. It then flicks to a mid-shot of main(1). It will then be a panning shot of
the dancers. The next shot is of main(2) getting on a bus. It will then be two mid shots from behind one of main(1) then of main(2).
In the first chorus we will see lots of beauty shots of main(1) looking towards and away from camera. The next shot is of main(2)
getting off the bus and heading to the underground. There will then be 360 degree pan of main(1) which will merge into main(2).
Verse 2 starts to see main(2) more frantic and there will be tracking shots following her onto the train. Main(1) will then be seen
walking to camera. There will be a little insert of dancers. Then main(1) singing away from camera. Then back to the dancers.
In the next chorus we see main(2) getting off the train and out of the station. Main(1) is till singing to camera and a 180 degree
pan of main(1). Main (2) starts to walk faster with the camera following her.
In the first part of the bridge we see a long-shot of the dancers. Main(2) starts to run lightly with the camera behind her. The next
shot is of main (1) walking towards the camera mimicking main(2) running with her fingers, main(1) then turn and walk away from
camera.
In the second part we see main(2) full out running this time towards the camera, main(1) has the same shot but instead of running
walks with confidence. Then a shot of the dancers.
In the final part three main(2) drops her phone and a crane shot of it falling and hitting the ground. Main(1) mid shot singing full
out. Then establishing shot of main(2) similar to that of main(1)’s location.
In the outro we see main(2) turn a corner and when camera follows she's not there. Then a final shot of main(1) shhing the
camera in a close up. Black screen.
4. Character Breakdown
My character is a young woman aged 17-19 she is a
representative for girls aged between 12-25.
My character represents that although someone may have a smile
on their face does not necessarily mean they are smiling inside,
she shows that it is fine if you’re not 100% 24/7. The idea of
having two characters played by the same person but a noticeable
difference in confidence and looks again relates to the fact that not
everything is black and white and that there are feelings and
emotions that some people are unable to surface or express.
She stands for girls without the confidence who think they do not
have the ‘looks’ that are constantly forced on to young girls mind.
5. Visual Elements
Lighting- there would be a contrast between the two mains where main(1)
would be bright and main(2) more artificial lightening.
Camera movement- Lots of beauty shots and track/panning shots
Editing- edited in time with the beat without too many repeating shots in
Setting- Main(1) set on a quiet suburban street and main(2) in a quiet city
street
Props- main (2) will carry a mobile phone and backpack and main(1) will have
no props
Costumes- Main(1) will look more put together like the girls seen in magazines
with a stylish hat and scarves and main(2) will look more ordinary in plain
darker clothes.
6. Rationale
I have chosen this idea as it fits the genre of
relationship issues. The concept would be simple yet
effective to carry out and is ambitious but not to the
point where lots of things could go wrong.
The audience would also find the two characters a
hidden way to show the differences in people and this
is what my target audience tend to look for in slow R&B
tracks.
7. Primary & Secondary Research
Some secondary research that I carried out showed me the
main concepts of tracks similar to mine, all of them include a
relationship or heartbreak. Since my track is titled ‘Run for It’
I felt it would be best to have a concept that linked to the title
and have a idea involving the breakdown of a relationship
like other examples in my genre.
I carried out my own primary research where I played my
track to girls in my target audience and got them to tell me
what came to mind some examples were; “Running away”,
“escaping”, “leaving someone or somewhere”. I then
explained my concept to which they all agreed they liked the
fact of the two characters being played by the same person.
8. Requirements & Resources
CAST:
•Amber Salomone
•Sara Zylfo
•Esme Smith
EQUIPMENT:
•Camera
•SD card
•Tripod
•Dolly
•Charger
•Camera Bag
LOCATIONS:
Some locations which I had considered was
Southbank in central London I found this place to be
unsuitable due to the volume of people that pass
through everyday. It would be very difficult to film in
such a busy place.
A replacement location is a quite street in Potters Bar
that looks too perfect and here I could film wherever I
wanted on the street as there are hardly any cars.
This location is also easier to access for my cast and
I.
Another location is the quiet streets near Goodge
Street station, here is the look for my second
character, although slightly further out it is accessible
via train.
9. Constraints & Contingency
Some problems which I could encounter is the weather.
If it rains I may have to re-schedule filming or pick
another location.
Another risk is that I will be filming in the street so we
must be aware of oncoming cars.
I will also be filming in public areas so to make sure the
camera is guarded at all times and that it is safe.
10. Legal & ethical considerations
I have considered issues such as copyright when using
the track but I have gotten permission from the artist
herself to use it for my music video.
12. Proposed filming schedule
I have a week to film from 24th October to 3rd
November, after this time frame I will be unable to re-film
anything unless it is crucial. My overall deadline for
the project 5th December where the whole music video
has to be completed to a high standard.
