2. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
The progress I made from my preliminary task helped me dramatically
throughout the process of making my film opening. For example,
lighting in production of my preliminary task was a nightmare, being too
light for the scene, so I made sure in my film opening that the scene was
set to the right level of lighting to create the mood I wanted.
I also realised that there are other editing programs other than Final Cut
which also allows you to cut and edit clips together. This allowed me to
broaden my knowledge of editing software knowledge outside Final Cut
into other programs such as Camtasia Studio.
Another factor is the fact that with the preliminary task, it didn't have to
be a set time. With the film opening it had to be around two minutes. I
struggled trying to fill two minutes with content, whereas that wouldn't
have been an issue if it didn't have to be a set time.
The overall result of my film opening is debatable. I've used the usual
conventions and have edited it together correctly, but my time
management was poor which means I didn't have time to thoroughly
think through a plot line and make sure there was no continuity errors.
